I visit the Cambridge Tea House twice a year when visiting my family in Columbus. It really pains me to take 2 stars off my normal 5 star experience but hopefully they will read the review (and the feedback I provided to the manager) and use it to return to their 5 star experience. On my most recent visit this month there was a noticeable shift in food quality and service. Our server was new to the team so I give him grace as he ramps up his learning curve. Other issues came from the kitchen. I learned that the tea house is under new management so hopefully they can get up to speed. Issues included: 1)about 45 mins to get our tea. Scones arrived and were eaten before the first drop of tea arrived at our table. Despite being ordered at same time. 2)the orange chicken salad is now shredded instead of ground. It was the unique ground up texture that I loved. I really don't even like chicken salad lol but the old recipe was much better than the new. 3)the carrot salad was basically just carrots with a dollop of dressing in bottom of the cup. The carrots had no dressing on them at all. 4) sausage quiche went half eaten by those who ordered at our table. These may seem like small things but when coupled with multiple requests for water, tea, and waving down the waiter for service it made for a very frustrating visit at what was previously my favorite little restaurant in Columbus. Something has changed at this place. Took our daughter there for her birthday with her aunt and Grandma. Service was terrible. We were there for 30 minutes before we got our drinks we ordered. Food took another 40 minutes. We were not in a hurry, waiter/waitress was not interested in being friendly. This was our 3rd time taking our daughter bit the first time since 2023. This is a fun experience for tea! I've been twice, most recently for lunch on a weekday. This time the inside was decorated for Christmas and the dishes were Christmas themed as well, which made it feel special. I have not ordered tea service (as I don't actually like tea) but their scones are delightful. I also appreciate being able to sub the side of fruit for all berries due to my pineapple allergy. Reservations are required, there aren't many tables and they don't turn over very quickly. Our lunch took over 90 minutes, with just drinks and lunch ordered. The table next to us had a young girl celebrating her birthday with the kid's tea selection which looked very fun and she was thoroughly enjoying it. My friend and I came here for a girls day out. I'm a big sucker for tea room so I was excited to try this one. The tea house is located in a small shopping plaza, which I wasn't expecting. The inside was very busy and felt more like a little café than a tea house. They had a wonderful selection of homemade scones, quiches, frittatas, a soup of the day, and a lot of inventive sandwiches and salads. They also offer a full afternoon tea service. My friend and I decided to each get a pot of tea and we shared the Cambridge tea service, which was two scones of our choice with jam and clotted cream. The scones were delicious, not hard or dry at all. I chose the traditional sweet scone in my friend, tried the daily sweet scone, which was in orange chocolate chip. We both thought the scones were delicious. Our server recommended the hot apple spice tea, which was some of the best tea I have ever had, and my friend who doesn't even like tea tried the heirloom Bartlett pear tea, and she loved it as well. If I was in the area, I would definitely check this place out again, although it wasn't one of the most charming tea houses I've ever been to. Reservations needed! My mom and I tried showing up the first time without reservations and were turned away. The second time we went we made sure to have reservations. This is a busy spot with limited seating inside and outside. It is a small quaint restaurant with daily specials. We got some of the mocktails, scones, and sandwiches. When the food came out it didn't look like that much but was actually plenty once you got eating. The flavors were really yummy too. I ordered the dill grilled cheese sandwich. This place is wonderful. It's not very big so make sure to make a reservation but you can visit for tea service or for brunch or lunch. We decided on afternoon tea which comes with a pot of tea, scone, 3 mini sandwiches and 2 desserts. The tea menu was very large, I think everyone should be able to find something they enjoy. Since we were smaller than a party of 5 we could choose our own sandwiches. The brie and garden veggie were our favorites. We also had a choice of scones, both the Almond and currant were delicious. It took me several years, but I finally made it back for the tea service. It was delightful. The atmosphere is so nice. It feels upscale enough to make it special, but casual enough to be inviting. Some folks were in jeans and others went all out with fancy hats. It all works here. It is a very small place and you will need a reservation on the weekend. We did have to wait past our reservation time for a table to turn over before they could seat us. The service was excellent. Very patient and attentive to a food allergy. They do sell out of things, so earlier in the day reservations would be better. We secured the last slice of quiche for the day and it was a winner. The tea and the sweets are where they shine. So many kinds of tea to choose from. I personally found the scone to be very dry. Tea sandwiches were enjoyable, but very light on the fillings. Presentation of all the food was beautiful. We love Cambridge Tea House. It's so cute and quaint and charming. Always make a reservation, and if you want a tea service add that in the notes. They were maybe a little short staffed today, but our order was accurate, and delicious. We all ordered the currant scones. I love that the scones come with clotted cream and strawberry jam. That jam is so good. We had three people in our party and we tried most of the sandwich options. The bacon avocado was perfect with crispy bacon, we also enjoyed the orange chicken salad, and salami and roasted red pepper sandwich. My friend had the lemony tuna and said it was divine. Having attended tea services in England I was so excited to see a fairly authentic option to take my mom for Mother's Day and we both were impressed! They offer a variety of quiches and I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of them as we both wished we had ordered one for ourselves rather than sharing. I just love afternoon tea and Cambridge House has one of my favorites. I think the whole place is just charming. The tea service is very nice, but I will say, it isn't a full meal's worth if you are hungry. This time, I chose the Tea and Sweets options with a white tea. I had wanted the full afternoon tea, but also wanted to try the Green Goddess sandwich, so kind of did a mix and match, and was happy with that option. The sandwich was very nice, on toasted ciabatta bread with cucumbers and dilled Havarti and pickled red onions. Yum! This came with a cup of the carrot salad that is very light. I liked this combination, which costs a bit more than the afternoon tea, but I had a nice portion of food. I just love scones and clotted cream, and theirs are wonderful. I had the cream scone and it comes with cream and strawberry jam. My desserts were a little chocolate cream frosted cake, blueberry cheesecake mousse, and a macaron. All were delightful. The server was very sweet, and we got to sit out on their patio. They don't do advance reservations for the patio in case the weather isn't good, as the inside is small and can't accommodate you if it's raining. I called the morning of to reserve that table and was offered an inside seat due to a cancellation as well. Finally got to try Cambridge Tea House! It was a fun experience! Perfect day to sit out on the patio! You cannot go wrong with picking out your favorite tea and having girl time! I got Jasmine Tea! We each did the 'Afternoon Tea', $26 per person. It includes a small spot of tea, two desserts, one full sized scone and three sandwiches. Our waitress was so sweet & attentive to my allergies. I really appreciated that. I would recommend picking sandwiches you typically eat or like. Turkey and Swiss is a classic. The curry egg salad sandwich was only okay. I really enjoyed the baked Brie in a puff pastry as well. My cousin had her bridal shower here. There were 18 of us and we took up the entire interior. The tea house had a cute setup with the decor and the servingware. The servers were very nice and allowed us to take our time with some photos even as time was going a little over. One of the staff members even took a few group photos for us outside. We each had 3 finger sandwiches, 2 scones, and 2 mini desserts. We all enjoyed the tea treats along with our choice of tea, which they refilled three times for me. Friends and I wanted to make time to get together during the holidays. One of us made reservations for 9am on a weekend. This is when they open and nearly every table was taken. There's some street parking but most parking can be found in a lot shared with the other businesses in front of the building. There are two doors on each side with plenty of space for coats to be hung up. The dining area was festively decorated. Both friends ordered coffee. One comments on the Christmas tree on her mug. My London Fog hit the spot. For breakfast I ordered the ham, cheese, and broccoli quiche which came with a fruit cup and two slices of tea bread. I couldn't decide between the two flavors (pumpkin and lemon) and the server suggested one of each. It was the perfect solution. Everything was great! The food was good and our server checked in on us with the right amount of frequency. One of my friends follows a gluten free diet and when she requested gluten free bread with her eggs, the server asked if she had an allergy and explained the chef takes extra precautions when there are food allergies. I have to preface this review by stating that my first teahouse experience was the St.James Tearoom in Albuquerque, NM. Cambridge Tea House is a nice, corner shop near Upper Arlington. The service was amazing. Attentive, friendly, and very willing to help to explain the various pieces of the tea service in detail along with what teas paired well with them. They also offer vegetarian options for tea service (please mention that during reservations) My main disappointment was that the establishment is quite noisy when full. This can detract from the tea service experience and we found ourselves talking ever more loudly just to hear ourselves (while the other tables also raised their voice levels in kind). So instead of having a relaxing afternoon tea and time to unwind, we found ourselves rushing through tea to escape and find a quiet local park instead. read more

When you hear the name Cambridge, you may think of the University of Cambridge in England or Cambridge, Massachusetts just outside the city of Boston. When I recently visited, I asked one of the servers if Cambridge Tea House has any ties to the UK and she said "maybe". I believe the old owners may have traveled to the UK but it remains a mystery to me. Nonetheless, this little tea house is in the Upper Arlington neighbourhood of Columbus, Ohio. As someone who doesn't drink coffee and grew up abroad having 'tea time' in the afternoon after school, I appreciate whenever I find a businesses that serves mainly tea. I originally visited in 2015 or 2016 for brunch. Recently, I visited again for brunch at the end of November 2021 with my friend and his wife and kid. SPECIALS/FOOD - Their menu is vast so I suggest asking for the special of the day because that makes it easier to pick what to order. When I visited back in Nov. 2021, the brunch special was an egg dish - 2 eggs, house bread, house potatoes, arugula, & hot honey. The quantity was generous and left me full. The bread was very soft and super fresh. The potatoes and arugula mixed in with the hot honey was a perfect combination. TEA - As the business name suggests, you'll find tea on their menu. There are endless tea options to choose from so if you feel overwhelmed, just ask a waiter to assist you. I choose the Hot Apple Spice Black Tea ($3) which consists of dried apple pieces, orange peel, cinnamon, & clove. It was refreshing but I would have preferred a strong apple and cinnamon flavour. The inside may seem older but the food and service will have you coming back here. I definitely will be back whenever I visit Columbus again. I want to try their tea service which begins after 11am . I've always wanted to visit a place that has 'high tea' on their menu so Cambridge Tea House is just the place for that. A charming white-tablecloth tea time experience in an unexpected location. We presumed that "Cambridge" implied the British origins of the high tea experience, but later discovered that the strip mall in which Cambridge Tea House resides is conveniently abuts one Cambridge Blvd. How's that for fate? Reservations are encouraged to guarantee your table, but you can also order to go. Other teahouses can sometimes make you feel out of place if you're not a young girl with a tiara or twenty-something female foodie, but Cambridge Tea House actually manages to keep the charm without smothering you with caricature. It's somewhere you can enter in streetwear. Tasteful sketches of birds are scattered around the dining room and even the bathroom, and real flowers add a touch of green to each linen-covered table. The table barriers' intrusiveness is softened by fake trees and actually lends some privacy between tables. The restroom is located next to the kitchen in the back hall, and has the first sink skirt that I've ever seen in my lifetime. If you have a child 10 or younger (or can convince the staff you are within this age group), you can rest assured that their inner spoiled majesty will love their complimentary crown, coloring materials, and finger foods, not to mention the attentions of the wonderful staff. So go ahead, indulge. My brother and I visited on a weekend morning anticipating Tea Service, but realized belatedly that the tea service (ya know, with the cute tiered tray and finger sandwiches) is only served after 11 AM. Nonetheless we soldiered on and decided to make the most of the all day breakfast menu. The facade of the tea house isn't particularly eye-catching, but the interior is cozy and quaint even with the dividers between tables. Patio seating is also available upon request. A small pot of tea is enough for about 3 cups each for two people, and I highly recommend Winter White Earl Grey for fans of traditional earl grey and those who don't like the bitterness of black tea. We shared a Cranberry Orange Scone which should absolutely be ordered with a side of Clotted Cream, and enjoyed this so much that we decided to order a second before we were done with the first. My savory Bacon, Apple, and Dijon Crepe and my brother's brunch special Monte Cristo Sandwich were both tasty, but nothing in the league of their crumbly scones. read more

Took my grandmother out for an early birthday gift on the first snow day of the season, afternoon tea. Loved the big windows, let in lots of light and made the snow even more picturesque. Inside if very small so I highly suggest making a reservation. Decorated cute and cozy. Our afternoon tea for two included a pot of tea for each of us of our choice. There were many options. I went with the cranberry orange one and my grandmother one of the holiday ones. We were both pleased with our choices. Our tea tray had 2 large scones with cream and jam, 6 tea sandwiches (3 each), and 4 desserts (two each). The scones were scrumptious with a heap of cream and glob of jam spread across the top. Probably my favorite part. The tea sandwiches I believe were baked brie and cherry in a kind of puff pastry crust, a curried egg sandwich and I can't remember the other, some type of cheese I believe. They were decent. The desserts were yummy. A type of custard or cream topped with a blackberry in a shooter glass and a mousse filled chocolate truffle. Did take a minute to be waited on, but other than that they checked in often enough to see if we needed anything else. We also each had a piece of the quiche that was left. One was sausage and I think bell pepper and the other was spinach, artichoke and swiss. I really liked the flaky crust. Had Sunday brunch here for a baby shower with a group of ~8. We had reservations at 1pm. About half the group came ~15 minutes late. We were reminded, although politely, that since everyone was "trickling in" that they did have a closing time of 3pm. Slightly awkward to start off a meal in this way and the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise, a few things were sold out or unavailable due to it being later in the day but that's expected for a smaller restaurant and no big deal. I got the bacon and avocado sandwich which was delicious. Everyone else at the table seemed to really enjoy their food as well. I brought the roast beef sandwich home to my husband who really liked it. The space is small and cramped but is quaint and cozy. Such a cute place! Our trip was 6 ladies, aged 13-65, having a tea party! My sister made online reservations for all of us since we had so many people. There are many different food items to choose from but we went simple and did the Sweet Treats meal. It included a pot of tea, 3 mini desserts and a scone. Upon arrival, we were seated at a table by the window. The restaurant is small inside but it didn't feel crowded. Our waitress came to bring water and talk to us about the specials. We were told that even though we preordered the Sweet Treats, we could also add extras like a sandwich, soup, desserts or more tea. We placed our orders and just admired the place. When our meal was served, each of us received our own pot of tea. However, between the 6 of us, we only ordered 3 different kinds of tea so we were given 2 bigger pots and 2 smaller pots to share. Cream and brown sugar cubes were placed on both sides of the table. The cups, plates and tiered trays were all matching and absolutely adorable! Two trays were placed with all of our desserts. The scone of the day was a Butter Brickle with a drizzle of icing-it was divine! The first mini dessert was a blueberry cannoli. It had a cute little mint leaf and blueberry on the top. It was creamy and delicious. The second mini dessert was a strawberry cheesecake, also with a mint leaf and small bite of strawberry on top. The graham cracker crust on the bottom was so buttery. The final mini dessert was my favorite- a lemon tart with a raspberry on top. It was probably the best lemon treat I've ever had. My mom also ordered a piece of the Bundt cake special of the day but I didn't get a photo. It was moist and sweet. She was all smiles while eating it! The tea is a little harder to describe. I'm not really a tea fan. The tea I picked wasn't bad. But I would rather have a cup of coffee any day. I chose one with hints of hazelnut and chocolate. You could definitely taste the hazelnut. Overall, I'd return to this place for sure. They have outdoor seating when the weather is appropriate. And the staff of ladies was so nice! I recommend stopping in with a friend!
