What a cute place! It looks like a fancier cafe inside, but they also have outside seating with umbrellas to cover you. You don't have to dress up or anything, but being in a tea house makes you feel automatically fancy. My friend and I came here on a Wednesday morning around 10:30AM. The tables are socially distanced and there are little coverings in between the tables. FYI, their tea service does not start until 11AM, which we didn't know. The tea service is actually very well priced for everything you get. It was about 10:45AM, but the waitress said we were able to order the Cambridge Cream Tea for service. This came with 2 scones, jam and cream, and a pot of tea of choice for $11. We got the pomegranate oolong tea. My friend and I split this and it was a good amount for us. I also ordered the egg and cheese sandwich which came with a side of fruit. My friend ordered the two eggs with house made bread and a side of fruit. The egg and cheese sandwich was extremely salty. The eggs were good and the bread was smeared with an herb garlic from what I tasted. I think the bread was the super salty part that I got. It seemed like someone dumped a bunch of sea salt all over it. That was my only complaint. My friend's bread came plain and she said it was good. The side of fruit was delicious too to cut all of the carbs and fats. The scones were a little on the dry side, but the currant scone was delicious! My friend got an orange chocolate chip scone, but you didn't really taste either flavors and there were no chocolate. The cream and jam that came with the scones added some moisture. We used to come to Cambridge Tea House several times but then we moved out of state for about three years. While gone we would continue to tell everyone how much we loved Cambridge Tea House and if we ever came back to Ohio for a visit we would need to come back here. Fast forward, we decided to move back to Ohio (just a week ago) and Cambridge Team House was on our short-list to visit ASAP because we missed it. My how things change in three years. Our entire experience was so incredibly bad I wanted to leave but my husband said we're already here and ordered. It took 45 minutes to get our tea while we watched all the tables around us get theirs quite quickly. We had ordered the Afternoon Tea which we were told they didn't have the ingredients but I made reference that I confirmed this is what we were going to order when we made the reservation, waitress comes back and magically they had the ingredients. We waited another 30-ish minutes for the food to arrive and also couldn't help but notice they went from not having the ingredients to having ingredients for several afternoon tea service when everyone around us ordered (and also got theirs before us and we had been seated again about 45 minutes prior to others coming in). The entire experience was so unorganized and haphazard and my goodness it was so loud. We were so let down that one of our most treasured places to eat has gone downhill so much. My friend and I both got quiches. I got broccoli with ham while he got asparagus with Swiss. I replaced my toast with a cranberry scone. It came with a mixture of fruit: a small slice of strawberry, two blueberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, and bananas. The quiche was good but very very light. I've made better at home but they did a good job with presentation. The scone was the star of the show! Flavorful! It was good with the jam and cream I asked for on the side. The fruit was alright. Pretty much can't fault a cute, quaint little tea house that puts on a full spread for AUSTRALIA DAY! Heck yes!! My daughter really likes their iced chai, but you can get that anywhere. A few times I've visited they've even offered flavored cream for your pot of tea. The scones are my favorite. Go ahead and treat yo self for the full tea service. You get a few savory snacks, some desserts, and scones. If you haven't experienced the heavenly joy that is clotted cream (which there's a good chance if you've never been across the pond), then you gotta stop by here to try some. I don't know if they make theirs in house or if they some how make the shelf-stable stuff more palatable; but whatever it is I love it. I also recommend the curried egg salad if curry and egg salad sounds up your alley. It's one of my favorite sandwiches and they do it perfectly here. It's in a very quaint area of Marble Cliffs/Grandview Heights/Upper Arlington tucked into a stone facade strip mall in an otherwise residential area filled with well-kept old homes. Okay, I have been dying to come here since I moved to the Grandview area over a year ago. I finally had a friend in town who I knew would do Afternoon Tea with me, so we came for lunch on a Thursday. Although it's a little unconventional, we both did the Afternoon Tea at lunchtime, but I knew I needed the full experience if I was finally going to try this place!! The only downside is their normal tables were booked with reservations (lesson learned). That left us with 3 options: the 2 seats squeezed in at the tiny "bar", which faces a window; sitting outside; or sitting at a table awkwardly placed between the bathrooms and the kitchen door, with one of us facing her reflection in a giant mirror. We wanted to be able to see each other, and it was a little too warm out to drink hot tea outside, so we chose the awkward table. It ended up being okay, but not the best options for those of us lowly people without reservations... They sold out of their quiche right after we got there, so if you're planning on ordering some, I would get there before 12! After asking our server if she recommended we split an Afternoon Tea tray or get our own, we ended up each ordering our own. It's around $17 for a pot of tea, and the three-tiered tray comes with a scone with cream and jam, 3 savory finger sandwiches, and 2 sweets. For an additional $2, you can get a cup of soup or a side salad, which is just a simple lettuce salad. The soup of the day was creamed spinach with lemony croutons, so we both ordered that in addition to our tea trays. Their tea choices are outstanding; I am a lover of all things loose leaf tea, and have had Harney and Sons teas many times. I was tempted to go with my constant favorite, Darjeeling, but ended up trying the Queen Catherine (black tea) to branch out a little. I was not disappointed - I now think I need to find that Queen Catherine tea somewhere! My friend tried the Yellow & Blue, which is an herbal tea (chamomile with lavender and cornflower). She said that was also very good. They offer cream and sugar if you want, as well, and the cream is freshly poured. As far at the food goes, I was definitely not disappointed by my first afternoon tea experience. The scones are delicious. Our three savory finger sandwiches were chicken salad, an egg salad sandwich, and a cucumber cream cheese sandwich. All three were good! I don't normally like egg salad and chicken salad, but I ate these! The desserts were way too sweet for me (a lemon bar and a chocolate mini cupcake), but they were good too. The best part of the food, however, was that creamed spinach soup. It was truly delicious, although I felt a little silly eating it out of a small glass teacup. I have only been to one other tea service, and I decided to stay on that kick and go to another the next week. This tea house is located in Marble Cliff. It's very close to Upper Arlington and Grandview I would say. The space itself is very small and got packed rather quickly. There's not a lot of room to walk around either. I would highly suggest making a reservation as I doubt walkins will be available. My friend and I decided to go with the tea service option and we both got our own pots. I would say each pot was a little over 2 cups of tea. And then we had the option of sandwiches and desserts to share. They were very busy so it was understandable that they were a bit slow with service in regards to bringing out our food which was completely fine. The waiter had to come and check on us multiple times before and after we ordered our food. Since they took time with bringing out the food, it took a longer amount of time for us to eat and enjoy our tea service. The waiter had come to our table several times after we received our food as well. Not once telling us that there was a reservation after us for our table, or that we could only stay at a table for a certain amount of time. It would have been appropriate to do so, because we arrived at 11am right when they opened with a reservation by the time we had the opportunity to order our food and receive it, it was 11:30am. So basically, we were expected to be completely finished and out of there in less than an hour of receiving our actual food and drinks. Because they had a reservation right after us for 12:30pm. The waiter had not said anything the entire time. And then at 12:28pm because I did check my watch he brings us our bill without asking if we were finished or ready for it And at that time tells us that he has another reservation at 12:30pm giving us two minutes to finish up our meal and rush us out that rubbed me the wrong way and I felt very uncomfortable.
