Wow! Based on yelp reviews we decided to forgo delivery and drive to Cameo. Short 10 minute drive from CP, and soooo worth it. Super awesome and attentive waitresses (wish I had names, both blonde). Pizza was FANTASTIC! Crispy crust, great flavor. Cut weird, in strips not triangles, doesn't effect taste, super good. 6 big breadsticks were yummy, and the large chef salad was enough for 3 adults. Their house dressing is great, a sweet red wine vinegar. Very inexpensive, large pie, breadsticks and lg chef salad for 26 bucks! Spent $45 on crappy park food for lunch, but never again! Will come again, and definitely recommend! read more

I'm from CA and was in the Sandusky area on business. Cameo's was recommended to me as the best pizza in town. I stopped in for dinner and took a seat in the bar area of the restaurant. As far as food goes, the pizza was great! Although I can't vouch for the "best pizza in town" part i can say that this was the best pizza i've eaten in quite a while. I was disturbed though by the atmosphere in the bar. This place is advertised as being family friendly. In the area I was sitting in there were a few lound drunks (possibly regulars - they were on a first name basis with much of the staff that wandered out here) that were very irritating. Loud, profanity laden comments on non family friendly topics (abortion... coat hangers etc...) were very off putting. I'm an adult with a family. Had I been here with them I would have had to leave., i've heard this stuff many times before but I was hoping to have a nice dinner at a place that bills itself as family friendly. No management came in to quiet these conversations down and the bar tender was engaging in much of it. Although the pizza was good the atmosphere left a very bad taste in my mouth. read more

People from Erie County were either Sanduskians or non-Sanduskians. Sandusky, the county seat, had probably the only vaguely scary-bad parts of town most of us kids in the area knew about, apart from occasional trips to Lorain or Cleveland. We came into Sandusky to buy shoes at Flippens or take the ferry to Cedar Point, and that's about it. As such, those of us from townships outside Sandusky thought of Cleveland Road as a kind of Green Line separating wild inner city life from wholesome America. This rigid psychological barrier probably kept me from enjoying Cameo pizza until I took an apartment downtown for a couple of years. Pretty damn good pizza but I don't think I ever felt like a real Sanduskian, and always felt like a bit of imposter eating the pizza. This is good middle-of-the-road pizza, a slightly sweet/sour tomato sauce. It's better eaten in than picked up. read more

what can I say I love CAMEO! everything about this place is right and delicious! I would recommend any pizza and the chicken salad with house dressing. I dont know what is with the house dressing but I cant get enough! their bar is smaller but the patio is great for the summer and they have lots of eating space. Excellent. We stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge but I didn't want to eat their overpriced, mediocre food. I discovered the Cameo via Yelp. Cameo seems to have been a Sandusky institution for 60+ years and it's easy to see why. Fast service, very inexpensive, and some of the best pizza I've ever had. Something about this oven, magic comes out of every pie it puts out. Don't get crazy with toppings, keep it simple and eat slow.

Cameo is as good as it gets. I have been going there for 14 years now since meeting my husband (who is from Sandusky). I have travelled a ton and tried many types of pizza. A Cameo Chicken Delicacy can't be beat. Add sauerkraut balls and I am in heaven. Sure, over the 100 or so visits, I have had a bad service experience once or twice. When a place is busy there will be the occasional forgotten order. It happens. If it happens to you I encourage you to go back again. Odds are good you will have a great experience on your next visit. Last weekend our family suffered a great loss when our patriarch passed away at the young age of 91. After decades of Cameo visits from scores of family members, the only post-funeral option for us was a visit to the Cameo. I ordered pizza here for pick up on 2 separate occasions. When I got pizza home (5 min drive) pizza was ice cold. I had to reheat and it is never the same. I contacted store and manager stated Hmm... they come out of oven hot I will have to talk to staff about that. That is my last pizza at Cameos. There is a better pizza restaurant in Sandusky Brick Oven pizza would recommend you go there never had any issues. read more

I've had pizza all over the world and while Cameo may not be the quintessential Italian pie, it is certainly very good! Don't be put off by the neighborhood, the thrill of escaping with your life is all part of the old school Sandusky feel of this joint. The pizza is as good as the first time I had it probably 15+ years ago. I tried the Cameo White Pizza this time around and was pleasantly surprised by its complexity and of course the Cameo tradition thin crust that keeps you coming back. Found this pizza place on a recent trip to Cedar Point. The location and atmosphere were great. The pizza was reasonably priced and very tasty. We had the Cameo special and Cameo all meat special and both were excellent. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful in helping us decide on what to order and how much. Pizza arrived promptly after ordering and they kept the drink refills coming. Great place for small groups or families looking to get a decent meal without paying amusement park prices. We went to Cedar Point for a few days and didn't really have a clue where to eat as far as local fare went but I am in the habit of asking the local people where they like to eat when I am in a new town and did so while we were in town. This place was recommended by more than one person that I talked to and we decided to give it a try. The pizza was very good. It has a unique crust that is like no other pizza that I have had. Hi, My family and I stayed at a local hotel in Sandusky last week and they had your Pizza advertized in our room. Do after a full day of Cedar Point we were all tired and hungry. I ordered a small pizza with peperoni and bacon, with a side of cheese sticks. Oh My God, It was the BEST pizza I have ever tasted!The toppings covered the entire pizza, the sauce was perfect, and the crust was crispy. I only got to eat two cheese sticks, because my husband sucked down the rest of them before I had a chance for more. We need a Cameo's in Michigan!!! Use to be my favorite . Went today and it was freezing in the restaurant 41 degrees outside and the back door was open. It was broke and they were trying to fix it. Why not do it before they opened. WORST.SERVICE.EVER. This was our 2nd visit to Cameos over the Cedar Point season. The first time I was very annoyed with the total lack of attention they paid to us, but it was right at prime dinner time, and it was busy so I cut them a break b/c the kids enjoyed the food. our first time there, we waited close to an hour for 3 kids orders of chicken tenders and one pizza. This time around will be the last. This time, we ordered at 6:15 PM. 3 small dinner salads, cheese sticks and bread sticks and placed the dinner order at the same time as the appetizers which was 3 personal cheese pizzas, one with no sauce. An order of chicken tenders/fries and a large sausage pizza for my husband and I, that's as easy as it gets right? Wrong! She brought kids drinks in 4 different trips, it took 10 minutes, & each time she left a drink, we had to get up and get our own straws. 35 minutes later the bread sticks and cheese sticks arrive. She brings the marinara dipping sauce which was in plastic solo cups with lids on, straight out if the fridge, ice cold. still no dinner salads, I ask if she can bring us hot marinara, and ask if the dinner salads will come before the pizza? She replies "I think so". And goes into the kitchen for hot sauce. Comes back 30 seconds later with the sauce dumped into a bowl, it was STILL ICE COLD not even an attempt at a microwave. So were starving ,so we eat the motz sricks with the cold sauce. now its been 45 minutes since we've ordered, and the dinner salads arrive along with the chicken tenders, so my 12 year old has to fight off her 3 younger siblings who are starving. 15 minutes later, just the 3 personal cheese pizzas arrive, and they put sauce on all of them- of course they did so now the 6 year old is crying, so I force my 12 yr old to share her chicken tenders. another 10 minutes goes by, I have to wave down another server and ask if she could track down the large pizza. 5 minutes later, both servers show up to tell us it will be another 20 minutes because "they just ran it through". We, along with the other 3 tables in the dining room all had to get up on our own for napkins & silverware while waiting. What a joke. So an hour and a half later we are walking out with our pizza in a box, and starving, driving an hour home from the fiasco. Not one sight of anyone who resembled a manager or owner walking around, let alone an apology from someone. read more

I usually order online and pickup and have no problems but tonight made me decide I was never going to eat here again. My husband picked up my order and came home only to find that there was part of my order was missing. I gave them a call and explained there was missing food and asked if they could deliver. They proceeded to tell me that they didn't know if anyone was going out that way (mind you I live in town). They put the manager on the phone and she explained that both her drivers were out and had no idea when they would return. Can I just say, my husband went there to pick up our missing part of our order and the same 2 delivery drivers, were still in the same spot as when he picked up the original order. No apology no I'm sorry no empathy. Just rude. I work in customer service and I don't expect any comps just show some empathy! This is a small town and your business relies on the locals read more

We came here as a result of my recommendation after seeing the tripadvisor reviews. Although the venue seemed like it was in, well not necessarily a seedy area but one that seemed too quiet and out of the way, the interior at least to me was more inviting. I really liked the bar area that was adorned with flat screens and had the true sports bar feel. As most of the reviews raved about the pizza that's what we ordered. It was a 15" pie half pepperoni the other half pepperoni, green peppers, and old world sausage. I found it to be delicious and definitely in the top 5 for best pizza. The other two in my party felt how the pizza was cut was unconventional and also not cut too well. I personally didn't mind it and liked how it was cut. In any case I feel overall we liked the pizza and the establishment. The service was also good and friendly. I'd love to come back to this place to watch an Ohio State game...and of course for the pizza as well :) read more

Went here because my son chose it for his 16th birthday, just on a whim...my wife got the 2 appetizer baskets & we all shared them & everything was great...pizza came & was excellent, as well. Breadsticks may have been some of the best I have ever had & my burger(double bacon cheese), was one of the best I have ever had as well...and it was very inexpensive...Service was on point & parking ample...location seemed sketchy, but don't let it detour you from stopping here....you won't be disappointed!!! read more
