I have looked all over the Grand Junction area for a Navajo taco. I finally found Camilla's Kaffe. I ordered a Shredded Beef and a shredded chicken Navajo tacos. I can honestly say this was the worst Navajo taco I have ever tasted. The "fry bread" was burnt and hard as a brick. The seasoning and toppings were hiddened by something awful so that we could not taste the beans, sour cream and the other stuff. The taco was so awful that we both threw away 3/4 of our Navajo taco. On a positive note, the staff was very friendly. The Kaffe seemed to have an energetic crowd and the people were laughing and having a good time. Our order was a take out. I hope the rest of the menu is better than what we threw away. read more

And for the record, I'm a great tipper--often tipping up to 40%... so not only did I give a smaller tip than I would've normally, but I also left feeling gross about being forced to tip. read more

Breakfast here is really good. It gets really busy, so the employees get pretty frantic. You go to the counter and order then sit down. We have had the regular breakfast as well as the cowboy skillet. Pancakes always come out a little warm, but the flavor is so good. One day, I am going to get a fresh one and I bet it will be amazing. Lunch is fresh, but salad dressings are a little bland and they never give you enough. Sandwiches are so-so. I keep saying I am going to try the mexican lunch options. So far, I prefer breakfast here. It's a sure bet. read more

My chili rellenos were great, service just okay - but eating with flimsy single-use plastics was impossible. Why revert to a world full of disposables when there are other options after reopening local Fruita restaurants? Camilla's Kaffe rewards loyal consumers trying to support a neighborhood spot with long wait times, sub-par service, tables in the sweltering heat, unusable tiny plastic single-stream utensils by leaving a mountain of trash behind. Even though our restaurants have alternatives, Camilla's seems to be taking the path of least resistance. For now, I'll be seeking out restaurants that value the option to keep unnecessary waste out of our overburdened landfills. read more

During covid they are only serving on patio. In styrofoam boxes, plastic ware. Guess it's more economical to let garbage pile up then to pay a dishwasher? No condiments unless you want to go stand in line again inside. More waiting. Even with limited seating it took nearly 45 mins. to get our food. Neither meal was memorable, and I wouldn't call the green chili sauce authentic 'green chili'. Mediocre at best. After we were done ordering the older lady that took our order went back to the kitchen and started talking about how I changed my mind and I wanted this and I wanted that that!!! This was a cute little diner style restaurant in downtown Fruita. There was a lovely patio to sit outside to eat, but we opted to sit inside. My family each ordered something different and no one was disappointed. I had the Cowboy skillet and did the chicken fried steak substitution. It was amazing! I highly recommend it. My dad had the special which was a burrito the size of my forearm with prime rib as the meat. It was good and the green chili was incredible! Mom had The Usual and said the bacon was cooked perfectly. Everyone also loved the pancakes. Our server, Kalee, was great and very friendly. Not a fan of this format because they're so busy it's hard to find a table. The wait for food has also significantly increased. I guess I expected more from all the positive reviews. I think this fits the Yelp description of 3 stars - A-OK. We had to wait to be seated until one of the front tables was cleared off - in spite of the fact that the back area was mostly empty. And we were seated next to the only filled table in the front section - with 4 realtors talking business - with enthusiasm. Not a problem that they were talking so much and so loudly-- but why seat us there? We ordered the Route 66 Fries to start. I knew they were steak fries (my least favorite type of fries) - and they were tasty! It was a small bowl of steak fries covered with green chile pork sauce, bacon bits (real and generous), cheese and a dollop of sour cream. I thought they were pretty good, but for $7.50?? That is a lot of money for a cereal bowl sized serving. I ordered the 1/2 sandwich 1/2 soup combo. It was listed as a "bowl" of soup - but seemed cup sized to me. That said - 5 stars for the homemade soup. It was French onion and had the added treat of well caramelized fresh mushrooms. Broth was full flavored and onions were beautifully cooked. Next time I go - soup will be my order. The half sandwich I ordered was tuna salad. I was served chicken salad (at first I thought it was the mildest of all tunas - but when I pulled out a piece, the texture said that was definitely poultry, not fish). It wasn't bad for chicken. Good, fresh bread. Wonderful and ample sprouts. My husband had a patty melt. He liked it and I was so happy I didn't have to eat it. Again - bread was great and very nicely grilled - not oily as so often happens with a grilled sandwich. But they had gone overboard with the thousand island dressing to the point the burger was super slippery and had a hard time staying inside the bread. Just too gooey for me. Extra points for good beer and having a dessert menu. All in all - you can get good food at Camillas. I think it is very pricey, though (mine was $10 as was my husbands - I think that is a lot for a simple lunch). And you have to order carefully. GET THE SOUP!! SO GOOD. read more

We have been going to Camilla's for many years. The experience has become less than enjoyable. The food has gotten more expensive, the quality and service has gotten worse. You order at a counter and seat yourself...the actual service provided by the staff is simply to deliver your food and if you're lucky, your coffee cup gets filled. For that they add a 20% gratuity to your bill, you have no option to tip more or less. The last two times we've been in, the gals at the counter have been less than friendly, bordering on rude. We will probably be taking our breakfast business elsewhere from now on. We get better food, better service and a more reasonable bill (breakfast for 2 at Camilla's was $30 today) at several other breakfast spots in Grand Junction. read more

Where do I start??? I found this place on Yelp on my way to Country Jam Music Festival in the neighboring town. Joey, my server was absolutely fabulous!! Always there for you! The quintessential small town cafe, excellent food and great personal service! We stopped on the way back from a camping trip at Dinosaur NM, ready for someone else to do the cooking! Boy did we pick that right place! We had the fish taco's that were fresh and hot and complimented by some obviously home made sauce and french onion and mushroom soup. Yummers! We got breakfast here to go while in town during COVID. We were impressed with how everything was packaged. We had an omelet, a biker burrito, and a cinnamon roll. Unfortunately, the omelet order was incorrect. The cinnamon roll wasn't anything to write home about, but the rest of the food was very good. I felt compelled to write this review today based off of one thing, service...or should I say the lack of. We are local to Fruita and have eaten here many many times. The food is good, and the service used to be. The last two times we have eaten here as a family the service has been less than stellar. What used to be a cute little sit down restaurant is now a "self service" place to grab food along with some attitude from the waitresses. There is now a mandatory gratuity of 20% added to each check regardless of service. That extra $10 added to our bill today was way over what any waitress would have earned otherwise. When you order at a counter, are asked to take your own beverages and cutlery to a table of your choice, and then have to get your own togo boxes before leaving does warrant 20% gratuity. Tips should be earned based up performance. Furthermore, on our way out we were passing the kitchen and a two inch cockroach was crawling across the floor. Before I could snap a photo, Joey, one of the waitresses saw me and stomped her shiny black Dansko right on top it. She proceeded to stand there with her foot on it refusing to pick it up while I was watching. I was so furious after that I asked for her name, and the owner I am presuming, asked why I needed it... I told her for a review, and she immediately copped and attitude and asked "are you going to facebook." I now know why, as I have been reading through their latest reviews...I am sorry to say, but that will be the last time we dine there and I will not recommend it to others in the future. read more

This place not only has an amazing staff but the food is unreal. We came for breakfast and decided to go back the next day and get lunch. The chili relleno breakfast and lunch is bomb and so was the the French dip. You can add jalapeños o pretty much everything and it is so yummy. read more

Great experience. Toured Colorado Monument and went to Fruita for food with 6 people. Group had fish tacos. Navajo taco x3, nachos, and onion rings. Sizable portions and everyone reported their meal as delicious! As important, they were very well prepared to serve in our new COVID environment. Plenty of seating outside as well. The food is good. It comes out relatively fast and is just how you order it. My issue is the people working here are rude. We ate quickly and asked for a to-go box. We quickly got three boxes and a reminder that they were at 50% capacity and that there was a line waiting outside. In other words, "get the hell out". We weren't loitering. We had just dropped over $100 at breakfast and were putting coats on the 6 year olds before going outside. We had actually waited 30 minutes for a table and didn't complain about the wait. We didn't cause COVID. Don't put your frustration about the restrictions on the customers. Camilla's can afford to loose this customer. How many more though?? read more

3 stars for being standard homey American food in a casual dinner setting. 2 stars for having more flies buzzing around the dining area than any restaurant inside the continental United States. I had a potato soup and a club sandwich. Soup was above average, sandwich was Denny's quality albeit huge portions. Makes you question their health standards when you're constantly being bothered by flies while you eat. Felt like Africa. read more
