Met up with a friend to celebrate multiple milestones. I'd never heard of Camillo before, but he'd been before and raved about it (he's also Italian and briefly lived in Italy). We were able to grab a table outside, back when it was still heatlamp weather. They have a creative cocktail program, with a lot of different takes on Negroni's (some were... a stretch). For starters, we had the olives and chicken liver pate. Both were very good. Can't ever go wrong with chicken liver, if you ask me. Great for lining our stomachs before the rest of our overindulgent meal. Of course, had to try their pinsa (which is like pizza with a different dough formulation/ferment to be lighter). Went with the Felino pinsa because the Arthur Ave spicy salame spoke to me. Basically a really good, fancy version of a pepperoni pizza. Very flat crust, but airy. So of course, we were able to finish a whole pie. For our second main, we had the roasted goat (which our waiter described as "the best thing on the menu"). And it did NOT disappoint. Large hunk of goat rib. Cooked perfectly. Crispy exterior, fall-off-the-bone inside. With delicious mashed potatoes and and broccoli rabe on the side. Well, the broccoli rabe was underneath the goat, so it soaked up all the delicious juices. Would definitely go back just for the goat. The vibe inside was great, but loved all the street sounds on Nostrand. I used to come to this neighborhood a bunch, so it brought back memories. Hope to be back soon! read more

Overall, a decent place to dine and have some drinks. There is a small, cute outdoor space for outdoor dining (not covered). If you are in the area, it's a nice option. I have made several visits so far and have had a chance to try several dishes. Recommend from Appetizers: Chicken liver and Fried Artichoke The chicken liver pate is very good; I would probably order this every time I go. The liver and the grape jelly compliment each other really well and the dish makes a really good complement with wine. The artichokes were another favorite. They're sizable and lightly fried. I didn't find them to be greasy at all. I thought it would come with a dipping sauce , but it did not, though I did not think it needed one. Other appetizers we've tried: Camillo Board - Unremarkable especially in comparison with other boards I've had, but if you're in the mood for meat and cheese, it was alright. Mozzarella with sun dried peppers - pretty good, but until I pulled up the menu to write this review, I had forgotten all about it. Onto the pizza - we tried the Felino and Funghi pizza. Between the two, I enjoyed the felino more. The funghi pizza did not have a sauce, so it felt more like a flatbread with mushroom, cheese and oregano on it. For some reason, I expected there to be marinara sauce in it, though I do see in the description now that it's not listed as one of the ingredients. Camillo has a small cocktail list that normally I would be very happy with. They have a selection of negronis, which I didn't partake in. I'd been in the mood for Aperol Spritz's, but I'm sad to report that the prosecco in it is pretty much always nearly flat. I asked the waiter if he could make sure the prosecco is very bubbly, but he said he couldn't because the prosecco is on tap. Prosecco on tap..... EW. Eventually, I just switched over to wine. Camilo is the perfect date spot it is so ROMANTIC AND COZY! There's pros and cons to camillo so let me start with the PROS. PROS: -wine is so reasonably priced and yummy at 8-11 dollars a glass and optional purchase of bottles I love it. $8 house wine gives you option of rose, red, and white. - the pizza is really good. Not your standard pizza but oval shaped and yummy. - staff is very sweet and patient. They never make you feel rushed. -PANNA COTTA IS SO FREAKIN GOOD I CAN EAT 1000 of them. -cozy romantic interior. -bar area and dinner seating area. Ample parking at night. CONS: -buffalo mozzarella and squash was good and comes with bread but they have no balsamic vinegar and I felt like it was missing something. PLEASE BUY BALSAMIC VINEGAR!! -the gnocchi which isn't traditional gnocchi and the waiters warn you was a bit much. By that I mean I was told it would taste like polenta which it kind of did but it was like a polenta formed into a block shape, fine but it was very course and was not a win I would never order it again. Stopped by for a couple glasses of wine before attending an event nearby. Seemed like a neighborhoody spot with a handful of regulars coming in. I had a glass of Nero D'Avola and a glass of Nebbiolo San Quirico. Both were fantastic. Pretty solid wine selection. Solid beer selection too. Just two beers on draft but both were local crafts. Lots of can options too. Seemed like their hallmark was their Negronis. I'd be interested to return to try one of their Negronis and some food. Service was attentive. Had a great time at this adorable tiny location, which frequently seems lacking in restaurants for dinner. The pricing are fair and everything is often $2-3 less expensive than more northwestern regions of BK. The pizzas are substantial and simple to divide between two persons. Was pleased to discover this location and is forward to visit again. Servers can be a little slow or distant, as some have mentioned, but that is desired when conversing. Camillo is by far one of my favorite places. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the drinks are top notch. The space has a vibrant and cozy vibe. Our servers are always friendly, wonderful and attentive. The food is tasty and authentic. We had some trouble with getting seated initially, waited about 15 minutes until they checked back in with us. Understandably they were short staffed. Food quality wise, magnificent! From appetizers to drinks to the entree. Roasted goat is a must have. Flat breads are very tasty. My favorite part were the drinks. The Mezcal Negroni was out of this world. I've lived in NYC my entire life and their pizza is some of the best I have ever had in this city. The prices are also reasonable.

This was excellent. We went with a group of four and got three apps (olives, fried artichokes, and buffalo mozzarella inside of an acorn squash), the Romana pinsa, and three pastas (carbonara, amatriciana, and cacio pepe). The pastas were probably my favorite, particularly the carbonara, which my wife and I both thought was really outstanding. Our friends liked the amatriciana the most, and actually thought the pinsa was their favorite dish of the night. (I liked the pinsa, but I think I just prefer other styles of pizza more.) We all loved the fried artichokes. We ended with the chocolate tartufo and pistachio olive oil cake, both of which were great, but the tartufo was particularly excellent. Overall, a really great neighborhood spot that I would absolutely go to more often if that neighborhood was closer to my apartment. read more

I ordered take out from this location and the food was just unacceptable. I ordered Margherita Pinsa and Gnocchi alla Romana, which were both extremely small and tossed into the take out dishes. The Gnocchi alla Romana wasn't even recognizable. The texture didn't look right, feel or taste right. Needless to say, I was still hungry considering I couldn't eat 1/2 of the food I ordered. I wish this place took care of their take out food orders as they do dine in. I was highly disappointed and hungry afterwards, which sucks of course. Camillo's has created an outdoor space on a lively street in Prospect Lefferts, and on a warm night on a Friday in July, taking in the street scenes - becoming a part of the scene- was special. Right next door to a Jamaican Jerk Chicken stand. Take home some - only $5 - for lunch the next day. Highly recommend the Processo spritzers - the Aperol was crisp and citrusy, and the Rosemary hit the spot for my companion. We shared the Insalada di Cicoria which was light and tasty, and shared the Capricciosa pizza. The pizzas are made with traditional methods, with the dough rising for over 48 hours. What you get is a free-form tableau of deliciousness. They take reservations. While we didn't have one, we found a table at 6:30pm, and by the time we left, every table was full. read more

Had a excellent meal at Camillo. I was a little skeptical of an italian restaurant in Flatbush and the fact that it was mostly filled with hipsters from god knows where and their parents. But they must have known something I didnt because everything was excellent. The interior is beautiful and reminds me of other high end italian places I have been to. Its a pretty sizeable dining room for the neighborhood. They seat at least 50. Their is a bar area up front. My partner and I started off with the punch was was really good. It was about the 3rd punch we had that day so our palates were pretty warmed up. With that said the punch wasnt too sweet or too strong. It tasted like a italian take on rum punch. We weren't too hungry when we came so we both ordered the oxtail & beef cheek pappardelle. Technically i ordered it first and she copied but whatever *eye roll*. The meat was soo succulent must of been braised for days. It wasnt a huge portion especially not by italian restaurant standards but it was decent sized. We got lucky and the people next to us order too much food and gave us some of their mushroom pizza. It was my kind of dessert lol. Crust was super crispy and cheese was melted and velvety. Review is overdue. Camillo is right next to Wintrop st, but I walked from near .the junction." It's quite charming with a warm atmosphere, cozy lighting and really popular in the neighborhood. Ate: Chickpea soup Goat These dishes sound better in Italian, but for now.... The soup was magnificent, thick, rich, herby and savory like a real fortifying soup. The goat was very tasty and probably one of the best in town, but I may have overemphasized my adventurous palate with this order of goat. I came here for dinner Saturday night after weeks of thinking about going! I called around 7 to check if it was busy and if I'd need reservations and I was informed it was definitely busy and the earliest open reservation for 2 was at 830pm. I was glad I ended up making that reservation because sure enough the restaurant was packed when we got there and all the way through our meal. We got a great corner spot though and the food was excellent! I was excited to see Porchetta on the menus because I studied abroad in a small town outside of Rome that was known for their Porchetta, so that was cool. I will say it was very different from Porchetta I had in Italy, I did still enjoy it. For dinner I ordered the carbonara and they were very accommodating in switching out the type of pasta, the overall taste was definitely amazing! My boyfriend ordered the Amatriciana, which was also incredible! Overall the atmosphere was super cute and the employees were very kind. To the point someone else made, the people dining here were definitely not as diverse as the neighborhood is, though it isn't necessarily the fault of the restaurant. read more

Excellent little gem for authentic Roman-Italian cuisine. First course of chicken liver pâté with grilled bread and grape marmalade and entrees of pasta carbonara (the real deal) and roasted goat falling of the bone served with mashed and broccoli rabe. A pet peeve of mine being a chef myself is no salt and Pepper on the table any more if the kitchen doesn't know how to season the food,but not here! Man, either I'm getting soft, or Brooklyn is just in tha house!... I feel like I've been handing out 5 stars in Brooklyn like it's going out of style. But what can I say... Brooklyn got that fire... With that as a preface you can guess we really liked Camillo. To be honest it wasn't even about the ambiance (which was more family friendly that I prefer) or the drinks (which were way too sweet for us). This was all about the people and the food. As well it should.. Let's go dish-for-dish... What was special/wonderful: the pizza/pinsa... we had the romano (half cacio y pepe and half tomato/guanciale) and the felino (sausage). The true taste of elevated pizza is when you have several varieties and each variety is a favorite from someone in your group. That's what happened here. The pizzas are special... top 10 in NYC (which ain't easy). Also, for me, the semolina gnocchi, which I've actually experienced before, was special. I loved that the staff warned us that it wasn't like the texture of potato gnocchi so we didn't get the wrong idea. But really I just loved this homey dish... The really great: the fried artichoke (very well done), chicken liver mousse (nice version), and the oxtail pasta. Great across the board... For me it's rare to have one restaurant wow me with both pizza and pasta at the same time. Usually one or the other is a bit basic. But this one pulled off that trick.
