The Camino-Brookstown Bakery offers so much for many: Methodical Coffee, locally-based tea providers, NC beer, wine, bakery items - breads, pies, cookies, sandwiches, salads, and more. Vegan options are available. On the day my wife and I visited, we enjoyed the Blue Boy drip coffee and two aforementioned amazing Ginger Molasses cookies as we sat in a couple of comfy chairs. Both indoor and outdoor seating allows for a comfortable stay, and the newish, dedicated parking lot is a welcome addition to the street parking. First-come. First-served. The service was solid, and as I waited to pay, I noticed a sign by the POS terminal that notifies customers of the 6% fee for Back of House Charge. They are upfront about its purpose, and I appreciated the signage, not just at the counter but also at the bottom of the hanging menu. This isn't my first time at Camino's, but I really enjoyed this visit to the Brookstown location. One of the biggest perks is the parking , they have their own lot, so it's easy and convenient. They've also changed things up recently. The space feels bigger, with more seating and a new balcony area, which I really like. The ambience is great and makes it a nice place to sit and relax. Service has always been great whenever I come here. I usually order a matcha, and it never disappoints. Overall, I personally prefer this location over the original Camino's on 4th Street ,mainly because of the space and much better parking. Definitely a spot worth visiting. read more

Love the renovation! It's been a minute since I've been to this location. So wanted to see the changes, which I love ! The new patio expanded and the inside is so bright and inviting. Plus now they have late evening hours and we went during the transitional time from afternoon to evening and I like how they change the mood with the added lighting with candles and the led lights outside plus muting the interior lights. Nice! Later in the day so they were out of a lot of pastries and such but the drink menu is great and busy with lots of classics and seasonal. Also serving beer and wine now too ! Which I like. Went with coffee though on a sunday afternoon, the American misto for me and vanilla latte for my friend and a big chocolate chip cookie , I mean seriously huge! 2 of us couldn't finish it. Slight attitude from the server taking my order took off a star here. Not necessary lady ! The server making the drinks was super sweet though, when I requested a real mug instead of a to go. This Camino is my favorite! I do like the one on fourth Street but between the two I have to say this is my favorite! The vibe here is so much cooler and more intimate. The blueberry muffins are always so fresh and full of fresh plump blueberries. Biting into it, you're carried away to blueberry heaven, and floating on a plump fresh blueberry cloud! They have lots of other pastry options, but I must say that the blueberry muffin is my favorite. The music is definitely coffee shop-ish, and the service is always fast and friendly! You can hear the whirl of the cappuccino maker and the baristas clinging the steaming pitchers performing their magic! Of course I get my usual coffee: an oat milk mocha latte with a little cinnamon powder mixed into the espresso. The espresso here is rich, bold, and flavorful. The dark chocolate is also very cocoa-y, not too sweet at all and perfectly balances with the espresso and oat milk. The prices are also very reasonable. They also have a huge deck on one side for outdoor enjoyment of the quaint downtown location. read more

I prefer going to this Camino location rather than the main downtown one in my opinion 'cause it's less stressful finding parking, quaint and quiet, and it's closer to Old Salem where I stroll around the area. There's plenty of indoor/outdoor seating and I love seeing the local art around the shop. The baristas there are also welcoming and chill. It was super pack. Thank God I pulled up as someone was pulling out. There is extra parking on the side though. When I walked in, the line was really long, but they moved really fast. The staff was rude and unwelcoming, my hot drink was barely warm (the staff rolled their eyes at me when I asked to have it heated), my muffin was dry, and everything was overpriced - the vibe was BLAH at best. I was meeting a friend for a coffee the other day and she wanted to go to Camino. Since it had been a few years, I was open to giving it another try and I am so glad I did! They have changed - in all the best ways! The space is open and welcoming. The staff are friendly. The baked goods and treats were fresh. The drink was hot and tasty. I am always looking for great cafe spaces to bring my laptop and work for the day with a tasty treat and drink and Camino is back on the list! If I lived in this neighborhood, I would actually come here every single day of my life. I love both locations, but this one in particular just has a really special neighbourhood feel. I like the seating outside with the covered patio as well as inside if you really have to get to work on your laptop. I love the reusable glassware and the speed and kindness of the service. Hands down one of my absolute favorite places to go. I've been coming here since grad school when I lived really far away and the consistency in their coffee as well as their food has never changed. I absolutely love their magical syrup, and when I went decaf, I had no problem getting my needs accommodated. I absolutely love their San Francisco sourdough! We were greeted upon arrival by a friendly barista. We perused the baked goods display. I chose a blueberry lemon scone that was gluten free and my husband got a cinnamon roll. I got a oat milk latte and my husband got a cold brew. The coffees were both great. We love Counter Culture coffee. The scone was DELICIOUS. The consistency was great. Not too crumbly, especially for gluten free. The flavor was great too. A lot of times scones are drying and lacking flavor but this one got it just right. My husband scarfed down his cinnamon roll so fast that I didn't get a photo, but that's probably a testament to how great it was. We might have to make this a Saturday morning routine! read more

Came into Caminos for the first time at their Marshall St location It was a little hard getting into the parking lot but I am so glad they have one! I walked in and was greeted right away! it's a clean and warm environment! They have coffee, teas, baked desserts, and bread. I picked up their dirty chai and cheese danish! The chai was good but I wish that it had a little more spice but that's how I like it. Hopefully, when I come back for some of their delicious-looking bread they can kick the spice up a notch. The cheese danish was yummy I will get that again, They make everything in-house and they said there are three locations in Winston's. I definitely will be back! I stopped by for a coffee this morning with my golden doodle dog. I noted the sign on the door saying "no pets". No problem. I picked up my 18 pound dog, stuck my head in the door for 30 seconds to order and pay, then waited outside for the coffee. Over the next 20 minutes I kept waiting and waiting as at least 20 people came and went with their coffees ahead of me, even though they were behind my order. Uncomfortable tying my dog up outside on a busy street, I finally went inside a final time to ask about my coffee. The punchline - although the staff denied it - they were purposely back listing my order behind every new customer arrival, apparently having taken umbrage that I had originally ordered with dog in my arms from just inside the store's doorway! And if I have this wrong about their motivations, then 20 minutes for a latte is still deplorable service. Great coffee, deplorable service. read more

I really enjoyed Camino Brookstown! I chose this place after searching on Ig and the corner bakery caught my eye! It was cute, quaint and delicious. The coffee shop has a parking lot in the back and then it also had street parking! Which was great. There is a door access the coffee shop from the back and then there is the front door where the beautiful black stone is located. When I walked in I was greeted by one of the baristas. He was really nice. My husband needed to change is clothes so he used their bathroom to change! The space isn't very big at all but there outdoor seating for extra seats. I ordered the French toast latte, it was yummy, my husband had a coffee and my son had a martinelli's Apple juice which is ALWAYS delicious. The last time I was here prior to today was in 2020 when it was curbside and I remember it being very good. Today was my first time being inside. The parking lot is just a tad too small for how popular they are on a Saturday morning but I was able to park on the street. The ordering area again is probably fine when they aren't busy but they are really busy right now so it felt extremely cramped. I ordered a peppermint latte with whole milk, a fruit danish, and a gluten free blonde as a gift to someone. I was handed the danish immediately but the latte I had to wait about 10-12 minutes for. When I received my drink. I couldn't find any open seating inside so I sat outside it's a little chilly. The danish was delicious and was blueberry heavy which was fine with me. Everyone who worked here is nice. The latte.. as I was typing this I spectacularly spilled my latte everywhere and they were so sweet cleaning it up for me outside and getting me a new drink. Despite having to wait for like ten minutes for my drink I'm going to give five stars because they could've just let me clean up my latte myself and not given me a new one. Next time I'm in town I will definitely be back but probably at A less busy time read more

This bakery should be embarrassed with the shoddy work they produce. My best friend got a cake from here to thank her coworkers after getting recommendations on where to get a cake. She paid $60 for a complete joke. I don't know who writes on the cakes here, but she wanted "Thank You" on it. What she actually got (photo attached) is "Thanks You." Really?! I literally can't even. When brought to the attention of the employee working, the employee insisted repeatedly that it was spelled correctly. How is "Thanks You" correct?! Apparently, they teach a different version of English here. My friend left to fix the cake herself, which is completely unacceptable. This bakery should have fixed it IMMEDIATELY and apologized for THEIR mistake. My friend should have not had to leave distressed to fix the cake. She should have received what she paid for! To top it off, the cake was missing a freaking raspberry. It was nowhere to be found, and there's only one place it could have been - which is in the box. My friend had to go to the grocery store to replace it. Utterly ridiculous. Not to mention, the spacing between the frosting/raspberries was atrocious. They were not AT ALL spaced evenly. Once again, see attached photo. I cannot understand why this place is so recommended because their craftsmanship is horrifying. A cake from the grocery store would have been better looking and cheaper! If you want a cake that looks like a kid did it, this place is for you. I've been coming to Camino since I moved to Winston in 2017 and they are still my favorite coffee shop. I always look forward to the seasonal menus as they are released every few months. Today I've gotten a usual favorite, a sticky bun. It truly is everything I want in a sticky bun, especially with the flaky pasty and pecans. I've also gotten a new favorite from the seasonal menu, an iced oatmeal cookie latte. Made with the house made golden raisin and magical syrups, this drink has the perfect balance of sweetness to go with the espresso and oat milk. I'll definitely be getting it as long as it's available! The last item I chose today was something new! A savory garlic bread pudding. It is delicious and flavorful and I hope to see it again soon. As always, the baristas were so friendly, quick and helpful. I love the relaxed energy overall and even though I often get my items to go, I always enjoy my time visiting and do so often. Always smells amazing and free bread samples so their iced basil latte quite literally gives me life. And I'm near depression that it will be off the menu soon as they switch to their fall menu. I have been going to Camino for years. First the one on 4th Street, and now mostly to this location. I like that they have a parking lot, which makes it easier to get in and out. It also is just the right location for me to get to and grab a coffee and get back to work on my 30 minute lunch break. I am now working from home and it is farther, but now my boyfriend gets to run pick it up for me in the mornings to make my day that much better! There hours have changed since the pandemic started, but now you can order online and pick it up curbside, which is great for those of us who run out in our pj's. I have some favorite drinks. I am one of those people who don't care for hot drinks, and I like my drinks sweet. So I go between the iced chai (heavy on chai with extra vanilla) or the magical iced coffee with extra magic. Their sticky buns and cinnamon rolls are amazing. When they have the marble pound cake or the lemon blueberry loaf, I usually get those, since they're seasonal. As a matter of fact, this is how I start out my morning any time I am a little tired or just want a special treat. (I definitely had Camino the day before and the day of my birthday!
