Great looking space with a nice selection of Counter Culture Coffee drinks, a half dozen beers on tap, bakery goods and a little variety of menu items. The bakery case was empty on our lunch visit which was disappointing so we stuck to the lunch menu. We tried a Toasted Ham and Cheese on Sourdough which was simple but good. I liked the soft bread with a great crust, although it's not like sourdough we make at home or grew up with in California. Its flavor is closer to white bread, but a great bread either way. It's toasted in a counter top oven, so no butter on this one. It's light on the ham and a decent amount of cheese, it was pretty tasty. The pretzels were a mystery. We saw photos of small twisted pretzel sticks and also saw single large pretzels. But there were none in the bakery case so we asked. They said they should be ready now, so we were excited for some hot fresh pretzels that just got finished being made. Unfortunately, by ready now they meant thawed out. While it was warmed up in the oven, it was still cold inside, so not a fresh baked or homemade item. It was also two medium sized pretzels served with a spicy mustard and beer cheese. So who knows what you'll get as they seem to change product frequently. We also had a molasses cookie cream sandwich that was pre-packaged that was great. Also had a Kolsch on draft that was good, but not my favorite. Overall, a great addition to Old Salem with a little something for everyone. I'll be back to try that Bratwurst on a pretzel bun with sauerkraut and spicy mustard. read more

I came on a Sunday afternoon to try out Lot 63 for the first time. My husband and I wanted to try a couple food items and he also tried one of their German beers. I won't even attempt to pronounce it but he said he didn't really enjoy it. Oh well, can't win them all! We also ordered the twisted pretzels with beer cheese and mustard and a toasted ham and cheese. Both were yummy although the pretzel was only warm with some cold spots and we could tell was a frozen product. For $12 I feel they really should be baking them there. Pretzel dough is very easy and no special equipment is needed. If I'm mistaken and they are made there and just frozen ahead, they need to make sure they are heated through before serving. The beer cheese and mustard were awesome though and I think they saved the day for us. Toasted ham and cheese was really good although I wish the bread was slightly more toasted. The flavors were great and I loved the taste of the bread. The ham had a nice smoky flavor that went really well with the melted cheddar. I topped my meal off with the last molasses sandwich cookie they had. Yum! The warm flavors of cinnamon and ginger were so good and there wasn't so much cream filling that it overpowered any of those flavors. They have lots of spaces to sit inside and downstairs it was quiet if you want to go there to work or head down to eat out on the patio. I'll definitely be back to try some more of the menu items that looked so delicious. read more

Comfortable spot to get a coffee, pastry, or even some beer or wine situated right in the heart of Old Salem making it very convenient to all of downtown. This spot is like an oasis, especially if you're fortunate enough to be able to sit in the more den like area up front with the large windows. Comfy couches and chairs there that you can easily sink into, if you weren't having coffee, you'd probably be having a nap! I had one of their seasonal spring coffees on my visit, a latte infused with some of their signature lemon Moravian cookie zest. Yum! Was the perfect refreshing pick me up for my day ahead, and I got to do some work from the aforementioned comfy chairs on my phone. This is such a cute little coffee shop tucked away in Old Salem, and parking is very easy right in front. They offer all your coffee favorites along with breakfast sandwiches and baked goods. I ordered a matcha and really enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the space itself is calm and not overly noisy, great for a coffee dates or a relaxing break. One of the best parts is grabbing your drink and walking around Old Salem afterward to take in the history and charm. Overall, a great little spot that's absolutely worth visiting. read more

One of my favorite things to do in this world is try a new coffee shop. This time I decided to try Lot 63. I came because I visited a Moravian bakery a few weeks back and heard of this coffee shop. Which they have some of the Moravian sweet treats so check it out when you can. This coffee shop had such a warm aesthetic. It was a gloomy and rainy day so it set the tone perfectly. I loved how they had music going and it was so packed and everyone was so friendly!! Me and my friend walked around to explore and found that they had two levels. There is a downtown area with a more quiet space to work. There is a bar downstairs as well as other table and chairs. We decided to go upstairs because we didn't want anyone to hear us yapping lol. I ordered a Caramel Coldbrew but was not a fan. Thats only because I am also on my trying coffee different ways journey and It was very strong to me. However, afterwards I ordered my go-to which was a Caramel Latte with Sweet Cream Foam, and my coffee was really good. They even had free water available. read more

This was an unfortunate experience. My son and a friend came for a snack. We had high hopes for the $11 soft pretzel and dip, but it was not large. They forgot to bring this order out or even warm it up and I had to ask for it when I was ready to go with the drinks and realized it was never given to us. Then I realized that they didn't put any of the dipping sauces with it. My son pointed out there had been a five or six dollar up charge for those sauces so we had to wait another five or 10 minutes for the sauce. Only one sauce was given when there were supposed to be two. By that time, my son's friend had asked for a brownie from the case for his mom. The kids had to wait 20 minutes to get a brownie and were told that there weren't any. When his mom came by she could see a brownie right there in the case! The server rudely said "I put it right in front of your son's face, but he didn't see it so I put it back." I don't know how this was possible with two teens, standing there, waiting patiently at the counter with nothing coming out. Definitely skip this place. It's beautiful on the inside, but it's very slow customer service taking an hour altogether out of our day. Poor value as well. read more

Went in for lunch today. I just wanted something light, so I had the Egg, Cheese and Bacon sandwich. It was absolutely delicious and just the perfect size. My one issue is was that I was with a friend who is restricted to a gluten free diet. There was absolutely nothing she could eat! She had to watch me! It would have made a world of difference if there were at least one option for her, maybe one type of bread or wrap or a salad even. 4 stars for atmosphere, service, Moravian baked goods and coffee. Recommended by my daughter, Lot 63 located in Old Salem immediately welcomed me by the open and bright floor plan. The wood craftsmanship-type tables, chairs, and floors, a couple of comfy sofas, and plenty of windows strongly suggested, "stay and enjoy" with your family and friends. Because I appreciate the Moravian culture, primarily for their amazing baked goods, I looked forward to their selection. I happily noted on the Lot 63 menu that they offered the "Bethlehem Lovefeast", a square of Moravian Sugar Cake (basically flour, butter, and sugar) warmed up and a cup of hot coffee. The employee serving my family was friendly and helpful. Games and books are located on the many shelves at the back of the shop. A bathrooms is located on both the main floor and downstairs. "A place of welcome" envisioned by the founders has been accomplished, in my opinion, in the 3 months Lot 63 has been opened. I've visited Lot 63 a few times now with different friends and family, and I've loved it every single visit. The space itself is beautifully designed -- open, airy, and cozy all at once. Lot 63 Is a new Food & Drink place in the heart of Old Salem in Winston-Salem. We like to go there on Sundays after church and have coffee, or chai, and read. I've done most of my book study notes there this past couple of months. Good memories! It's one of the few places I go to and get the same thing every time because it's so good! However, today I tried their Cappuccino and it's excellent too! Choices. The space is steeped in history, the architecture is note-worthy! Take a look at my photos for a little glimpse. The coffee and literally every single drink I've ordered has been bad--except for the drinks in the fridge. The ambiance is nice, and it's good for studying; however, the sweets are disgusting and overpowering. The pizza is good, but extremely overpriced: 14 dollars for a 6-by-6-inch pizza? Kill me now. I've tried so hard to like this place, and I've invested so much money, but the coffee is so runny. Go to Chad's Chai if you want a coffee shop with amazing coffee, moderate prices, and a lovely ambiance. Nestled in old Salem it's a quaint place to chill, work, meet friends and family or just grab and go. Huge space with plenty of seating at tables, couches and they are working on their outdoor seating. The menu is coffee, tea, beer wine coming soon and sweet treats, Moravian style. They had a great case of goodies, pretzels , hot cross buns, sugar cake, cookies, lemon bars, strawberry granola bars and love buns. All of them looked amazing and fresh. I went with a cappuccino and a love bun as I'd never had one before. The coffee was delicious, strong and they have oat milk! And I got a pretty design on top !! The love bun was nice and soft and warmed up for me, nice and airy inside and slightly spiced with a touch of sweetness. Perfect with coffee. I loved this lightness as I don't always want a heavy pastry . My friend had an oolong tea and a strawberry granola bar. The bar I tried and was good but heavy and sticky! Good taste though. Not too sweet. I like they have sweet and lesser sweet options. The pretzels looked amazing and will be my next time treat! The service was great and the sever behind the counter was super knowledgeable. I also got out of there spending less than $10 which is unheard of in a coffee shop these days. It's nice not to pay $6 for a cup of coffee. Really enjoyed my time catching up with my friend here. The couch by the fireplace was a lovely spot! I was happy it looked like it was steadily busy too. I am so excited that a new coffee shop opened in Old Salem. They converted a gift shop into a wonderful space. The hours are great if you are an early bird like me. The baristas were really nice. You can also get treats from Winklers's Bakery. I had the drip coffee and a piece of sugar cake. The first coffee was brewed incorrectly so without even asking one of the ladies brought me a new coffee and the sugar cake is always good. I found the perfect little nook to study while I was there. Eventually, they will expand their hours. This is definitely going to be a regular spot for me. read more

Lot 63 has a certain something vibe-wise that makes me want to stick around. The service is consistently excellent and the drinks are consistently delicious. Cute place. Fun drinks. Nice atmosphere. Inconsistent policies. We were thrilled to hear they were dog friendly. Got permission and asked specifically about it after seeing others. Next week we show up with our very calm, well-behaved dog that doesn't bark and caused no issues prepared, and we're told to leave. Another smaller quiet dog also left. Last week they were handing out pup cups to other dogs. Cited that they serve food and dogs weren't allowed. Two different people, two different policies. No business for them tonight. Shoot. A small group of us were strolling around Old Salem and decided to grab a snack. Upon entering this coffee shop we noticed the cute interior. However, when we waited for our orders as they all came in stages, not everything was ready all at the same time, in fact, items were forgotten or very delayed. They were out of muffins just before lunch so I personally decided to order the sugar loaf, it had to be two or three days old by how hard and dry it was, the pretzel was the same. The drinks we all ordered were pretty good, the cappuccino was nice, the hot chocolate was probably made with water but topped with whipped cream. I'd recommend the drinks but pass on any of the limited food items on the menu. read more
