We came here for some Tuesday night drinks and this was the place I picked since I've been wanting to check it out. It was a nice and chill vibe which I was really hoping for. The outside seating was picnic style but comfortable and felt spacious. The drinks themselves were pretty good. We also ordered the corn fritters (delicious) and sweet potato humus which she loved but I passed on. The service was pretty good as well as they constantly checked on us and even fixed an error with our food order. My only gripe was parking was a little bit of a hassle. I'd prolly be back to try more food and enjoy the drinks though. read more

Still a little strange (just my opinion) to accompany the Brussels, but tasty as a stand alone sauce! I got the Camp All Natural meat Plate (on two separate deliveries). Both times the tri tip steak was so chewy that it was almost too tough to eat, but the taste was great! Nice and smokey. The chicken and ribs though... OMG.. fall off the bone delicious! Ambiance is very outdoor rustic in the middle of downtown. Food though could have been better - especially for the price. The half-chicken was severely dry and didn't have much of a choice. The fried chicken sandwich, while juicy had its crust easily become soggy which kinda ruined the taste. The queso was pretty chalky and oily in texture. The standout was the sweet potato humus. Went here for a book club lunch and was disappointed. First, I do not like that we had to order through a QR code with wait staff just standing around. When I come to a sit-down restaurant, I would like service. And then the ordering app wanted us to tip before any interaction with staff had occurred! It then took what seemed like a long time to even get our drinks. They were not busy at 11:30 a.m. so I don't know what the problem was. Second, I got the rotisserie chicken tacos and the meat was dry, not juicy or flavorful at all. I thought that was supposed to be one of their specialties. It was pricey, and I could get better chicken tacos somewhere else. The wait staff never returned after dropping off the food. Water bottles had been left on the tables for us to refill our own glasses. Again, not happy that I was forced to tip before realizing that service was non-existent. I came here with a group for our Monthly San Antonio Restaurant Club. At first, the manager told me they do not do reservations but eventually let us know he would reserve a table for us since we were expecting a larger group. When I mentioned we were with San Antonio Restaurant Club he said "we can't wait to wow you all!" - and they did! The food was fresh and they brought out a complimentary chips and guac appetizer for us. So good and so fresh! Chips taste homemade! On a nice day or evening, definitely opt for the outdoor picnic table seating, if available. The vibes outside are just perfection. Once you order at the inside, take the number and plop it at a table of your choice. The food comes out pretty quickly and is very wholesome. I got the Grain Salad, and it was surprisingly super filling. The roasted butternut squash was perfectly cooked, over a bed of fresh greens. Well... Yesterday, I went to Camp Outpost for lunch with my retired teachers group. It was my first time there, but it came highly recommended to me by a fellow camper when I was camping in Junction a while back. I had it on my radar as a venue for the group, but hadn't planned to get there until the start of next school year. We were supposed to go to another place down the road, but I got to try it out and realized it was not the place for my peeps. I am really happy with the change. I made a reservation for 10 the day before we went. When I called, the person who answered gave me an email address and phone number for the manager. I emailed him and asked for the reservation. He called me back immediately and confirmed the details with me. I foolishly requested an outdoor table because some of our group like the outdoors. But, after sitting on my patio with the dogs in the morning yesterday, I knew we would not want to be outside. I called the number that I had been given. I immediately felt awful for doing it. It was the manager's private number, and it was his day off. He obviously had a crying baby in his arms, which of course I probably woke up with my call. Nonetheless, he was as nice as could be and promised to get an indoor arrangement taken care of for us. When my friend and I got there, we parked right in front of the entrance and walked in. Two of our group were sitting outside waiting for the rest of us. I told them we were going to be inside. When we went right back in, they were putting the finishing touches on our table. Unfortunately, it was a high-top, which doesn't work well for some of our group. After all, we are old retired people. I felt bad for pulling another change, but the staff smilingly directed us to another table which could have seated about 20. We waited for everyone to get there and finally went up to the counter to order our lunches. I had the Mission Salad with a hot-link on the side. At least half of us got the Mission Salad. I did see one of us eating the hamburger and a few eating the sliders off the children's menu. Everyone seemed really happy with their meal. I can vouch for the salad. It was really good. The hot-link was at least a foot long and had cheese inside. It was the perfect accompaniment for the salad. I also enjoyed a beer. They have just enough local craft beers on draft to satisfy anyone. I had an Irish Red. The hand-crafted rootbeer was so good that one of our ladies took two bottles home with her. The are brewed locally and the owner of that business was at the next table eating lunch. I would love to come back on a cool breezy humid free day to experience the outdoor dining area. I think that is where the charm of the place probably comes through best. They even have camper trailer out there. I think it is used as a bar. That leads to another thing I want to come back for- cocktails. They have a great sounding list of fun ones. Brunch was intriguing also. Great management, friendly staff, good food, and good beer... Needed salt, bread was soggy and the au jus didn't really have much flavor. The "caramelized" onions were far from done, still white and firm and the bread was soggy before even getting to "dip". Never ordering this from here again. The onion rings were amazing! Some in my group ordered the chicken club but were disappointed to find out it didn't come with rotisserie chicken by default anymore (there are options that were not explained, chicken breast or shredded rotisserie chicken). The club now has 3 slices of bread and the fries are missing the seasoning they used to have. Beef tacos were also ordered, tasty if a bit hard to get a bite. The menu is simple and makes ordering easy but it was still tough for us to make a decision bc some of the options looked so good! The restaurant itself is SUPER clean, has great appeal inside with open layout and also has a large patio outside. I started with the crispy Brussels sprouts. They were good but have a wasabi-like spice that will kick you in the nose so be aware! Second, we split a mission salad. The salad was good (and large) with a lot of different flavors and was actually pretty spicy but was the best part of my selection. Last we had the crispy shrimp tacos which were served grilled so I don't know what part is supposed to be crispy. The tacos are very large with more veggies than shrimp but it was still decent. Overall this place is good and I feel like I ate healthy and I'm not weighed down by greasy food. The wait staff and manager were super awesome so I added points for that! When we walked up the man at the register taking orders, he was speaking with I assume the manager. They were busy trying to figure out a refund for a customer so when they finished, I assumed he help me, but he just walked off I then said can somebody help me? Another employee came up and helped me. After we ate, I decided to get another beer and a margarita for my wife. Another man was at the register and was not the friendliest or most welcoming. The flavor that was on the chicken was similar to the brussels. The flavor was good, but the brussels needed more cook time because they were still hard in the middle. What's the next funnest thing to actually camping?!Camp outpost co! This is a cute little space not too far away from Southtown. They have tons of out door seating, a fire pit, and a nice paved lawn (dog friendly too!). I came here with some friends, and I got the fried chicken sandwich and a chocolate stout. The sandwich was about 13 dollars and was huge! I couldn't even finish the whole sandwich. I do wish it came with fries but you can get fries on the side for about 4 dollars. I also got a chocolate stout, which I really enjoyed. My friends all got different things and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. With COVID, everyone was wearing masks and the people at the restaurant were so friendly and would come by our table often asking if we wanted more water.
