I felt like we were having a picnic. The little tic tac toe games on the tables are so cute. My husband ordered the beef roast and he did report that it was a little dry, but he said the onions rings were very very delicious. I got a gluten free cheeseburger and that thing is small but mighty. I didn't think I would finish it all but I ate that sucker up. I loved the fries too. We got the soft serve for dessert. This place is good but not great. The ambience was bright and airy. We got Brussel sprouts for the table and I got the fried chicken sandwich for my entree. The sprouts were so so but the chicken sandwich tasted great. However, the fries that came with the sandwich were too salty. I also ordered a coffee. We wanted to try something new and laid back. The ambiance is cool and has an outdoor area with corn hole. However the food was subpar and there was no service. We were not greeted upon arrival so we found a table and ordered from the QR code on the table. You pay and tip in advance. We always tip over 20% but probably wouldn't have done so if we knew we wouldn't have a server. The food was dropped off at our table but no one ever checked if we needed anything or offered any refills to our empty drinks. We ordered chips and guac and the Camp Plate for 2. There was a hair on the corn in the Camp Plate and then when replaced the 2nd time the corn cobs were cold and not fully cooked. We went to the guy dropping off the food to inform him of the cold corn and he apologized and offered a discount but never came to our table to provide it. We had already paid but offering a gift card or a free dessert would have been nice. The rotisserie chicken was small and fairly dry. What a chill vibe this place was! Very cute and aesthetic. It was our first time here and we left very impressed. Definitely a place to visit when you have friends or family over. The food was really great! We had the fried pickles which we all enjoyed especially my daughter lol! I had the sausage plate and what I really appreciate was the cauliflower slaw they threw on top of everything! So delicious with the perfect amount of tang to it. Get the sweet potato hummus. Service was quick and friendly. They checked-in with us often and were happy to do so, which makes the dining experience feel more welcoming & comfortable. We ordered Brussels sprouts and cornbread for apps and for our entrees we ordered the Beef rib roast and Mission salad with rotisserie chicken. The food was great, my only recommendation is to serve the salad dressing on the side or provide it as an option on the side. It came premixed but imho did not have enough dressing, also at $18 I thought that was a bit pricey ($12 salad + $6 for chicken). I'd return but likely try a different dish, however, I'd still recommend others try this place out. read more

My last day in San Antonio and my Sonshine suggested Camp Outpost since it's by his home. It's super cute and I loved the location. Heading home after a weekend adventures in the Hill Country, driving the Three Twisted Sisters. Yelp to the rescue for a great brunch experience in southern San Antonio. Cool concept- repurposed warehouse with a focus on rotisserie and chic camp foods. Gotta say, there's no roughing it when you have crispy Brussels sprouts, roasted carrots, and sweet potato hummus on the menu! A few appetizers (Brussels and carrots) that came out quickly. Beautiful colors, it's like autumn on our table with the dark green sprouts and orange carrots. The Brussels are fried to a delightful crunch. Thumbs up for the sauce that comes with them. And the carrots- a switch from the greens -are toasted and covered in a sweet orange sauce that, along with the sautéed onions, just hits all the right notes. Overnight oats for hubs- tiny serving here, fyi. "Oh wow!" He says after his first bite. These are small but mighty! "Fantastic!" Hubs steak and eggs looks pretty incredible (I feel like I'm having a "missing out moment" today!). Stacked tall, with a heap of fried onions on top. My Cesar with rotisserie chicken is ok - the salad itself is crisp and has plenty of dressing, and though I know it makes sense for it to be cold chicken, I kinda feel like I wish I had a few pieces from the birds in the back, dripping with juice and deliciousness. TBH: whomever does their trimming of the leftover chicken for the salads needs to pay a bit more attention: I've had a few over-done dried chunks and one with a piece of bone still in it. I've been to this place twice. Both times I was met with a friendly person and prompt service. The beer is good, and the food is decently prepared. Clearly, the wood fired rotisserie chicken is the center of attention as one walks in. You will know by the awesome smells. I put it on a salad, and it turned out great. What is not to love about Camp Outpost? From the outside it looks a bit "hipster" but when you walk in, you are immediately greeted with warmth, friendliness, and what truly feels like a summer camp cafeteria with a much more modern twist. They have indoor and outdoor seating. And from the looks of it, I think they even have community seating which is really cool to just sit next to a stranger and make a new friend. Literally everyone was friendly and talkative. The cashier was really great at giving us recommendations and explaining the menu, they also had a really cool happy hour menu with apps and drinks! As for the food . . . Everything was amazing. I can't complain about a single thing other than I wanted a lot more cornbread! The fried pickles were super hot, fresh and crispy and the ranch was a perfect balance. The jalapeño butter was delicious, I wish they would package it and sell it! All of the meat was flavorful and juicy, nothing was dry. The one and only thing is that I wish the corn fritters were a bit less chewy, they felt like they were overcooked by a few minutes, but other than that they still had a great flavor. We went on a Friday and were able to enjoy the live music, which really added to the atmosphere. The beers were great, and the selection had something for everyone. The food and drinks, however, were pretty basic in flavor. Not bad, just nothing that stood out. That said, we appreciated that we didn't have to wait in the long counter line to order; we were able to get a server's attention and add to our tab easily. The girl that took our order and brought out our food was sweet and attentive. The environment has a nice look to it. The onion rings were very good The Mac and Cheese was quite tasty The Au Jus for the French dip was good Now the not so good: The unsweet tea tasted instant. Lots of flies on the patio And the French dip meat was flavorless and tasted like it was boiled in water with liquid smoke. The slices were too thick to not be tender. Too many fatty pieces. The meat tasted like it has zero seasoning, it needed some badly. 1 out of 3 is not terrible ... but you guys gotta pay more attention to detail on that French Dip or 86 it. Went here for a book club lunch and was disappointed. First, I do not like that we had to order through a QR code with wait staff just standing around. When I come to a sit-down restaurant, I would like service. And then the ordering app wanted us to tip before any interaction with staff had occurred! It then took what seemed like a long time to even get our drinks. They were not busy at 11:30 a.m. so I don't know what the problem was. Second, I got the rotisserie chicken tacos and the meat was dry, not juicy or flavorful at all. I thought that was supposed to be one of their specialties. It was pricey, and I could get better chicken tacos somewhere else. The wait staff never returned after dropping off the food. Water bottles had been left on the tables for us to refill our own glasses. Again, not happy that I was forced to tip before realizing that service was non-existent. Lots of delicious options here and a good choice when you have kids and dogs with you. They're very dog friendly- giving us a dog treat when we walked in and also bringing out a dog bowl to the patio for water. The team that took our order and brought the food out were on it! The patio is very cute with lots of picnic tables, a cute camper set up with a bar and merch store inside, and corn hole to play. The food is always delicious and I tried something new with the Grain salad adding shrimp, and shared the fried pickles with the table. We also got the kids grilled cheese and kids chicken tenders which both come with fries and the Camp burger. Everyone loved what they ordered and we hung around for a bit. We also ended up trying their frozen margaritas after lunch and just enjoying the patio. Not too sweet or too strong! The chicken was delicious! The moment you walk in, you're hit with the delectable aroma and your mouth starts watering. I got the quarter chicken and the camp fries. Both were delicious, but I overshot how many potatoes I could eat because the chicken already came with potatoes. I wish I had gotten the Brussels because they looked so good. The staff were a bit standoffish. We were some of the first customers of the day so maybe they hadn't gotten into service-mode yet, but they were helpful and did everything they were supposed to. read more

It took 40 minutes to get our drinks, and my 'cocktail' was wrong twice. I finally told the waiter not to worry about it because we had already eaten and didn't want to wait another 20+ minutes to drink. My Cobb salad was great. The Mac n cheese had so much butter in it my teen wouldn't even eat it. I think with better staffing it would be a go-to if we were local. This place is really close by my girlfriend's apartment so it's become a go-to when we want a hearty meal. It's a bit of a splurge spot, but it's pretty well-prepared American fast-food. The fried chicken sandwich never disappoints. It's a big chicken patty, and usually needs to be eaten in two servings by my gf. I tried the slow roasted pork last time but the pork was rather dry, only saved by the cole slaw and sauce inside. It was also a big serving and was still tasty when I heated up the pork later. I actually love their sweet potato fries more than the camp fries. I like a thin, crispy fry. Lastly we decided to try a cocktail flight this afternoon, and was mostly happy with the choices. Only the Paloma felt terribly unbalanced and too strong. Also, I thought it was interesting that is was served almost completely frozen and we had to wait for it to melt down to really enjoy our drinks. We went and bought and RV and decided to celebrate at a camp theme restaurant. So a camping we went. Camp outpost that is. I've passed this place many times and always wanted to stop by, I'm glad I did. Because.... (Drum roll) reverse happy hour. I know, you're probably thinking.... Say less. But no. I have more to say. 3.00 beer, 5.00 Rita, 5.00 mix drink menu. So good. The food was great, the camp plate for 2 is more than enough for 3... to 4 depending on how much you eat. The food was slightly cool, that's why I gave 4 stars. Otherwise, everything was great. The atmosphere was awesome, fun place for families, games outside and the pups are welcome! We arrived right on time for their happy hour and ordered fried pickles, wings, chicken sliders, kids slider, a marg, and a beer. The portions were very large and everything was hot and delicious!
