This place has so much potential. Let me first start off by saying the ambiance is pretty cool here, very chic and modern meets industrial look. The good: the food was delicious, I ordered shrimp tacos and had a lot of flavors, my husband ordered the prochetta sandwich (little dry), my kids had the chicken sandwich and this was so crispy, and the kids burger. The drinks were so fresh. And we didn't stop there! We ordered the ice cream sandwich that are made fresh and so fudgy (if that's a word). The customer service was ok, we did get our food before our drinks and kept asking for them. But after that everyone was very service oriented. The improvements: since this is a fairly new spot when we went to order about 2pm they were out of a lot of items on their menu. Not too sure how since it was super early but there were a couple of things we wanted to try but we were not able to. Overall I would try this spot again eventually. read more

Stopped by with a friend while in San Antonio. She ordered the Grain Salad with Rotisserie Chicken so I followed suit with the Mission Salad with Rotisserie Chicken. We also shared an order of Sweet Potato Fries. The salads arrived in less than 5 minutes. They were bursting with fresh vegetables and topped with moist chilled chicken. I opted for both the smoked sherry and guajillo ranch dressing on the side. Both were great. The salads were complimented with fresh warm flatbread. The sweet potato fries were crispy and lightly salted. Perfectly done Fast friendly service! Delicious food! I officially love this place. It's cute. The food is good. The staff is friendly. They have inside and outside seating. You order inside and someone will bring out the food for you. They plenty of options to choose from. I wasn't planning on ordering so much, but everything sounded delicious Let's start with the crispy shrimp tacos. The shrimp are huge. I even cut them in half and ended up eating four tacos instead of two. The tacos come with double corn tortillas and are pretty hardy. The batter on the shrimp is perfectly seasoned. The slaw topping completed the taco The Brussel sprouts have candied pecans and Parmesan. Nom nom nom. This is the perfect way to get your veggies in and actually enjoy them. You can easily share this side, but you may want them all to yourself The beets were a perfect side because they were just sweet enough to consider them my dessert. Had been wanting to try this place for a while and finally was able to stop by. Overall a great experience. Went for a late Sunday lunch and it was pretty chill and laid back. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area is both kid and dog friendly. They have an airstream outside which doubles as a bar and a shop. I had the cucumber cocktail drink with the chicken sandwich. It was a bit on the pricier side but for the experience and the food/drinks, I think it was worth it. Come give it a try! read more

BBQ shared plate was decent. My favorite was the jalapeño cheddar sausage. The Brussel sprouts and corn fritters were definitely worth the try. I'm glad we had two appetizers. After coming here a handful of times, I think I'm pretty comfortable with a three star rating. First of all I have no complaints with the area, the vibe or the restaurant, or the overall ambiance overall. It's rustic feel with a modern twist. It's nice when you wanna grab a few beers and handout. They have good indoor seating as well as shaded areas outside with fans and misters which is a must in this heat. Where it falls short for me is the service and the food, the service isn't per day bad, but withers and waitresses seem to be cold and not very warm just kind of doing their job, not really hospitable. Secondly the food, this is where it gets a little upsetting for me as this is the main reason to go to a restaurant. Salt, salt, salt! Seasoning in general seems to be its Achilles heel, the product seems fresh and looks delicious, but it always falls flat once you take a bite! We got the meat plate the last two times, with sausage, steak and roast chicken it's unfortunate when the potatoes are the most exciting thing on the plate, crispy and delicious they make the meat feel like the side dish. The porchetta sandwich and the burger are equally as mute one flavor, they or beauty is only skin deep. Are the cooks not tasting their food? This is basic stuff here, you go out to easy because it should be above what you can cook at home. But for me currently, the camp is just a cools spot to get a beer and a snack, maybe... With the high price points I'd expect a lot more punchy flavor, at the very least salt! And a warm and friendly staff. I hope management takes this to heart as a trendy location and a cool vibe only gets you so far, the heart and soul should be your food. read more

Ordered Camp Burger and Rotisserie Porchetta Sandwich, brussel sprouts and dirty fries. The Brussel sprouts were the best ones we have ever had and we order brussel sprouts at almost every restaurant we go to. The campfire burger was huge and so filling lots of flavor. Terrific--good food, good venue. I ordered a chicken sandwich and their dirty fries--in this case, it means bits of porchetta on the fries. I have to say... I ate all the fries before even taking a bite of the chicken sandwich, because they were that good. The fries themselves are perfect: a little soft, a little crisp, just the right amount of oily. And the bits of smoked pork across the top... I'm writing this review the next day and I have to say that it's literally making me hungry for French fries. The chicken sandwich was great too, a lot of little details coming together to make a solid chicken sandwich. I look forward to trying more food here. I came here with my parents when we were in town for my brother's BMT graduation. We were quickly greeted by the friendly staff and they gave us helpful menu suggestions. We had the chicken tacos, shrimp tacos and pork sandwich. All of it was absolutely delicious. My mom said the chicken tacos were some of the best she's ever had. The cucumber margarita was also fantastic. We enjoyed our experience so much that we came back for a second time after my brother's graduation when he had a few hours to leave base. Update: This place is still PHENOMENAL! I came with some co-workers yesterday and we had an amazing time! The food and drinks were DELICIOUS, as was expected. We happened to arrive during their Happy Hour, so I picked my drinks from that menu. This was easily the best margarita I've had and it was only $5. The updated menu had some fantastic additions. I ordered the roasted chicken with potatoes. It came with a chimchurri sauce. First time coming and we will be back. The area would surprise you but it's a nice little retreat from the downtown area. The staff welcomed us and was really awesome. The food was quick but tasty. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because we asked for alterations on my husbands burger and it didn't occur...he is allergic to tomatoes and it was on there with all its awesome seeds (I didn't know it was possible to be allergic either when he first told me 11 years ago lol). Luckily we were able to scrape out the seeds and juice. The bun did fall apart halfway thru due to the sauce on it but we had knives and forks and he was all good. Love this spot. They have a nice outdoor seating section with a bar that is perfect if you bring along your furry best friend. The Brussel sprouts will come out extremely charred but that's how they make them. It was perfect and so good. The ambiance was great, with the outdoor area filled with covered picnic tables and cast iron pans used as the serving dishes. We were there on a late Sunday afternoon, so the crowd was pretty chill. I was fully prepared to order multiple apps because everything sounded so good but they were out of the fried pickles and the cornbread. So you're gonna want to get there early (or go multiple times) to try everything. The camp plate for 2 gives you a great assortment of items to try. I love Camp Outpost! First of all, it's dog friendly, which is a plus (they'll bring your pup a bowl of water and a treat...can't beat that)! The staff is super friendly and attentive and ordering couldn't be easier. The fried chicken sandwich and the chicken tacos are my favorite, and my hubs loves their burger! Drinks are generous and they have several of my favorite beers on tap (Betty Kolsch, anyone). They've also got a great daily (even on the weekends) happy hour with food and drink specials! What a great place to enjoy a beautiful afternoon meal with family and friends. We went in with a party of 13. This was our first time here and found it on Yelp. The adults and the kids all enjoyed the food and the ambience. The owner was a great host and made us feel like we were at home. Now let's get to the food. The fried pickles are served with a dip that's paired so well you don't feel a need to ask for ranch dressing lol. The fried chicken sandwich fully dressed and the burger are no brainers. The chicken on the sandwich is more like a schnitzel, which we loved. And they have really good pickles. Those are important to me! I personally don't really care for fries but these were very good. There were no fries left on our entire table! I'd come running ‍‍back for the burgers for sure. They're smoky and juicy. Full of flavor just like we like it in Texas. It was made with avocado, pickled vegetables, spicy crème grilled on a flatbread, and it was served with fries. I chose the sweet potato fries and there were delicious. My husband had there Outpost Club which had serious big slices of warm rotisserie chicken, bacon l, romaine, tomato mayo on a Texas Toast. This was the Official San Antonio Restaurant Club's first stop of 2022 and I think we're off to a great start! Every experience from parking to checking out was immaculate. Our party quickly figured out that although you can go up to the counter to order, you can also order right from your table which was super convenient as our table had multiple tabs. And let me say, once you placed that order, service was incredibly FAST! Our table tried a few of the cocktails - all of which were good. For a relatively new spot on S Alamo and S Flores, it's got a lot of open space--just not a lot of parking (tip: carpool or Uber!). I love the rotisserie menu concept: chicken and pork roast entrees--seriously, you can order a Whole Rotisserie Chicken. The appetizers were good but a little pricey. Focus on the entrees and you won't be disappointed. I tried the pork roast sandwich and it's already a favorite! The staff constantly moved about making sure everybody got their food and drink orders, though this will settle better over time. The inside can seat 10+ parties, and there's a fenced in outdoor area if you bring children. Honestly, the only real drawback is the parking; however, if you go after hours or weekends, a City lot across the the way should be open (and free!) if you can't go all together. read more

Very, and I mean very good food! It tastes farm to table fresh! I ordered the Camp All-Meat plate which included rotisserie chicken quarter (white meat), all-beef sausage and a California stable meat, tri-tip! The chicken was juicy, flavored and cooked just right. The tri-tip was tender as well and the espresso BBQ sauce is a nice compliment to the meats. This place looks very industrial and has a cool, modern rustic look to it. I look forward to coming back again soon and trying some of their other great looking food! read more

Camp Outpost is the first eatery I've heard of based on the idea of the outdoor activity. I usually select where my husband and I go out to eat and I thought he would like this place since he enjoys camping. I wish they had gone running with the camp idea and had hammocks, a tent, and maybe more than one fire pit but perhaps there just isn't room. Unfortunately the Airstream was not being used as a bar during this visit. They had some vendors set up in the parking lot selling jewelry and stickers. One vendor said it was the first such event at Camp Outpost with the intent of becoming a monthly event. We ate inside due to the heat and there was a fly problem, which was part of the reason we sat indoors. I ordered the All Natural Meat Plate, a cucumber salad, and Hard Tea (Vodka, lemon, pomegranate, iced tea and mint). I started eating quickly since I was so hungry and then realized that my plate had not arrived with espresso bbq sauce and grilled flatbread. I think the tri-tip steak would have benefited the most from sauce since it was a little dry. The taste of the rotisserie quarter chicken and grilled hot link reminded me of an outdoor bbq so it accomplished what it set out to do. I was really looking forward to the charro beans, served in a cute camping cup. My husband agreed with me that they could have used a kick of flavor and spice. There was no salt and pepper on the tables, otherwise I'm sure the latter would have helped. Both the salad and cocktail were cool and refreshing, but I wish I could have actually tasted the mint in the tea and maybe I just like sugar too much but a tad more sweetener would have made the drink perfect. I actually enjoyed my husband's meal more, the Fried Chicken Sandwich with a side of Camp Fries. The breading was crisp and flavorful and the chili aioli really took it up a notch. For dessert we ordered the S'mores, which was not posted on the indoor menu but we had seen online. The presentation was adorable and they used some green goo in a tiny pot instead of wood to light on fire for toasting. We decided to eat our dessert outdoors just for a change of scenery. Surprisingly, there was NOT a fly problem outdoors! Maybe the much appreciated misting system kept them away. My husband usually just tolerates the places I select to eat at but he wants to return here so I'm hoping I will enjoy the food more next time. read more
