We utilized the camp robber's catering services for our parents anniversary... It was by far one of the most wonderful experiences. We ordered the steak and salmon which both were cooked to perfection with veggies and sides it was fabulous. No one had to cook or clean up, the in-house staff that came to set up and serve where beyond courteous, helpful, kind! She seriously attended to our every need. Brunch menu is inventive. Bloody Mary was delish. Service was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere on the patio is relaxing. Overall, the experience was great. I just docked one star because, although the menu had great variety and the food was good, it lacked that pop... that thing that makes you say, "Damn! Now that was special." We noticed that the crowd inside was a little geriatric, so I get it. You don't want to send a table of grannies running to the john because their food was too spicy. Not a deal breaker. We have eaten at the camp Robber for literally years, since 2000. We have always gotten amazing fresh from scratch food every time we have eaten here. When I say everything is made from scratch it's not a lie literally everything in the restaurant is made from scratch from the dinner rolls to the dressings to the desserts to everyone of their amazing entrées all comes from scratch. You will be hard-pressed to find another restaurant in this city or any other city that follows such stringent guidelines when it comes to the food they produce. I am amazed that the food I had in 2000 taste the same 20 years later because quality than is quality now. We don't eat out a lot but when we do we choose to eat at the camp robber. This week alone we had a dinner date the wife and I then brought our friends from out of town to experience their food as well. If you are looking for fresh amazing food, from steaks, burgers, pasta, new Mexican food "which is my favorite", vegan vegetarian, and seafood there is something for everyone. read more

Friendly, attentive service. Creative and delicious menu with new combinations for the foodie to try and well-executed classic dishes for those who like the reliable standards. The steak burrito and the spicy shrimp chimayo linguine were exceptional. If you don't have room for dessert, just take it home - trust us. We recommend the mixed berry, peanut butter, and lemon meringue pies. We had the Camp Robber cater our recent wedding in Telluride. They came highly recommended and their prices were beyond competitive. We were impressed that as a caterer, they provide plates (reusable heavy-duty plastic), real silverware, drinkware, etc. included in the catering contract. THAT, in and of itself, saved us a ton of money. And then we met with them to discuss our vision, what kind of food we wanted, how it would work, etc. and we were really happy. Kim, the co-owner was very gracious and enthusiastic and we felt comfortable talking budget with her while wanting the very best for our guests. We had about 130 guests at our wedding for a heavy hors d'ouvres buffet (carving station, many hot dishes, passed appetizers, etc). and were very happy with the food. Everything seemed fresh, made for our event and to the quality we expected. While we, the bride and groom, didn't eat much at the event, everyone else seemed to love it. We had eaten in the restaurant a few times, but did not have a tasting leading up to the wedding, so we were happy with the results. If we were to do it again, we would have insisted on a tasting-- but it wasn't offered when we worked with them to arrange details. In addition to the extensive food offerings on the buffet and passed, we had Camp Robber do a dessert buffet to augment the wedding cake. Again, we wish we had done a tasting because in reality we should have skipped the desserts and added more savory foods. The desserts were nothing special-- and many were leftover. Overall, however, we were thrilled with the Camp Robber for our wedding caterer. They showed up on time, did a great job, did not run out of food, kept the reception venue tidy and cleaned up completely before they left. Kim and Bill (and the event manager Kim who ran our event) were awesome and we'd highly recommend them in the future! read more

Walked in around 7:30 on a Saturday night and while it was busy there was no wait for us to get in. The menu has a good variety without suffering from being too large. We stuck to a wrap and the Mexican plates which were reasonably priced. Portion sizes were appropriate and very tasty. The side of posole was a pleasant surprise and something different than I normally see. The rolls that came around were very interesting and fun. I believe that they had some chillies in them, I just wish we were given more. The only downside to the entire experience is that the service was a little slow. Waitstaff was great, just took a while to get the food then get out. If I'm in Montrose again I'll be coming back. read more

The best green chile soup ever! On occasion I swing by and pick up a quart for dinner and it always comes with two large, fresh, tortillas as well as tortilla chips. They also have a great little bar area and very yummy appetizers. read more

I want to give 3.5 stars. I like this place and will go back. It has an average menu so everyone in your party will find something they like. The service was good too. Prices are good. I say give it a go because there are not many choices near by. If you are Paleo there are salads and fish options. read more

We love this area of Colorado and travel here several times a year. We have been eating at the Camp Robber since it was located downtown. This is one of my favorite restaurants. It consistently prepares wonderful dishes. The staff are always nice, even when they are busy. I recently started eating gluten-free and they have a separate menu for these selections. The gluten-free dishes were great from the orange basil vinegarette to the flour-less chocolate ganache cake! read more

we came for our anniversary on a whim and we literally could not stop eating. The atmosphere is comfortable and easy going. The restaurant is clean. The staff is beyond personable. And the food.... The food was indescribably amazing. My fiancé was a chef for 15 years, so food has become a religion to us. I could talk all day about the art that was their St. Louis ribs. Very good service and pretty good food. We had Jayne as our server, she was helpful in selecting the dish and taking care of my wife's allergy (Celiac). They have a clearly defined gluten free menu upon request. She started with Tomato Basil soup, which was good. Her chicken quesadilla on corn tortillas was average and I got the chicken enchiladas with both sauces and the trio of sides (salsa, beans and hominy). They were also average.
