Nice ambiance but terrible service. This was the first time in over 20 years that I didn't tip my server! Dined here two years ago, and thought it was pretty good so was looking forward to a second visit back during a recent trip to Atlanta. Called and made a reservation for three at 6:45. "No problem lots of room" I dropped off my young adult daughters while I parked. They proceeded to seat them at the back of the empty restaurant .. right beside the bathrooms. I was hungry and just wanted to order and figured it might be a quiet spot to just visit and enjoy a dinner with my daughters. Wrong. Other than the multiple visitors to the bathroom beside us: -They were out of the first two items I wanted to order. ...it was 7:00 ?! -Our appetizer (Caprese salad) came without balsamic or basil. When I mentioned it to the server she simply said "the Caprese doesn't come with that". I pointed out the description on the menu and she said she would check with the kitchen but.... just didn't bother. -Another server brought out our main course which was ok but pretty sure the salmon dish was incorrect. The rest of the food was good. -The server also never returned to offer us bread or water refills. She did manage to remember to bring one refill of Ginger Ale just before delivering the check to us without inquiring if we wanted anything else or desert or coffees... or even shots at this point. Fine with me because the chocolate cake might have come without the chocolate. read more

This is probably one of the worst brunch experiences I have had in Atlanta. Nothing major happened, just an altogether awful experience. I was super excited when I found out Campagnolo was walking distance from where I lived. Yesterday, my boyfriend and I finally decided to give it a try. When we arrived it didn't appear busy at all, but you could tell almost immediately that the service was going to be S L O W! The host took about 15 minutes to seat us and we were only second in line. She sat us in a back booth directly in front of the expo line. Maybe this is where my experience started to decline. It took our server about another 15 minutes to come greet us. We ordered 2 Bloody Mary's, because that's what other reviews suggested. The Bm's took about 20 minutes (yes, 20 minutes for 2 Bloody Mary's) and when they arrived at the table, they were watered down and just not tasty at all. The food came fastest out of anything, as I could see the chefs pushing out order after order, and I watched each plate sit in the window for quite some time. When I received my Medium Rare steak and realized it was Well Done, I would have complained, but, our server never even returned to check on us. So, I ate the steak, paid, and decided to never return. Although my experience was terrible, I don't blame the restaurant, or the servers, I blame management. I have worked Food and Beverage for years, in just about every position, and what seemed to be the issue here was management and the employees being under staffed. Not one table should have to wait 15 minutes to be greeted or 20 for a drink. Nor, should I have to stare at feet on the expo line. Yes, FEET! The manager, or the woman who appeared to be the manager, was on the expo line and running food in flip flops. Definitely a health code violation, and not appealing at all. I definitely didn't dine here for an over cooked steak with a side of feet to stare at. I thoroughly apologize for my rant, but nothing grinds my gears more than a restaurant that could be amazing falling incredibly short. Hopefully they get they're service together so I can go back and try the lasagna. We'll see.... read more

Well first things first the staff was A1 we had a very large party actually larger than we reserved and they were extremely accommodating and very attentive. Now down to the food, theyre are a couple of amazing dishes, at least the ones i tried. I really enjoyed the lasagne and the muscles.... but here are some of the drawbacks. The space is rather small so make reservations because otherwise you probably wont be dining. The pricing seems a bit skewed. Side salads were half the price of certain entrees which for a frequent diner seemed a little off. But overall a rather pleasant dining experience. read more

Cute little place in the heart of Midtown. Came here on a yelp recommendation but was not very impressed. It was Sunday brunch and the place was busy and they were accommodating enough to give me a table instead of making me sit at the bar and I will say that all of the service members were very friendly and the hostess was running around like crazy doing a lot of things at once. The food was a disappointment. Ordered a chicken piccata sandwich which was basically an unseasoned Large piece of chicken breast on some very good bread. It was not breaded and there was no lemon sauce nor was there any aïoli. It came with an arugula salad which also didn't have any dressing. Ordered a side of creamy polenta which was actually very pleasant. I tend to like polemta a little more firm but they did advertise it as creamy. My waiter was very friendly but seemed distracted so subsequently my iced tea didn't get refilled and he was pretty AWOL through most of the meal. In all fairness to him, it looked like he was having to serve tables on two different sides of the restaurant. I should've sent the food back and made them dress it out the way they described it on the menu but I was very hungry and just ready to get to the airport. If I'm back in Atlanta, I might consider giving this place another try. read more

This was a spontaneous stop after a martini nearby. We were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and the food. We got the parpadelle and capellini with brussel sprouts and all were full of flavor and made on property (the noodles). They are open late and we sat on the patio. Food was good. Good caesar salad, good but very garlicy mussels, and the pasta dishes were tasty. The vegetable dishes were a bit lacking. Supposedly, the Brussel sprouts are the star of the show, but we felt they were bland, unseasoned, and tasted just like plain old Brussel sprouts - they were also overcooked and a bit mushy. The desserts, including the tiramisu, were very good. In terms of service, unfortunately there is a woman who works there who was a real bummer to our dinner. Not only did she seat us when we arrived, but she also brought our food to the table. She was extremely unpleasant - I even commented to our server how miserable she was. Everyone at our table thought she was quite unpleasant. Our server was pretty good, although not the most attentive. With this in mind, I'd give the food a 3.5-4 star rating but service only 2-2.5. read more

Mr. Big and I went for dinner last Saturday whilst staycationing at the W Midtown; I've been hearing good things and was anxious to try the place. I wondered, however, if I'd need some kind of good luck talisman as the space seems to be cursed; I have yet to see a restaurant really flourish here. Fortunately, I think the spell has been broken. Or, at least, I hope it has. We entered through an outdoor patio that I think would be lovely on which to lounge in the summer. Great people watching with all the bars and activity at the famous corner of 10th and Piedmont (not quite what it used to be in my day, but fun none the less). The inside space is open and inviting with a large bar and big front windows. We started with the mussels which were some of the best I've had. Salty, sweet, lots of rich broth and crusty bread. Not much else to say here, but get 'em. For the main, I had the cappellini with pomodoro sauce, basil, Parmesan and meatballs. I found the sauce tangy and sweet--just the way I like it. The pasta was cooked al dente--again, another win in my book. The meatballs, however, were not my favorite. I prefer them to be fried or baked first before going in the sauce so they have a caramelized crust on the outside. These did not, which makes me assume the were cooked fully in the sauce. This always sounds like a good idea, until you do it; they come out a little bland and most of the juices are drawn out resulting in a dry ball. My nana would not approve. I just ate around them and found I still couldn't finish the enormous portion of pasta itself, so this did not take away from my overall satisfaction. Big had the lemon chicken which he thoroughly enjoyed. I assume he did as nothing remained but the bones of a half game hen when he was done. He also didn't talk much during the meal which means he was too busy chewing. For dessert, we shared the banana-pecan semifreddo. This rich, creamy custard was the perfect end to the meal. Cost was very reasonable and the service was great. Besides running in to my arch nemesis from Backstreet circa 1993 (which actually didn't bother me at all since I looked much better then he), it was an absolutely delicious meal! read more

This is exactly the type of restaurant that will succeed on this corner - inexpensive and well-executed brunch fare, rustic chic decor, and a patio where the neighborhood queens can see and be seen. The restaurant also played an ample assortment of both Prince and Michael Jackson hits during my recent Saturday afternoon visit, which I personally consider to be worth at least an extra star. Food: Campagnolo is managed by the same company as Peasant Bistro, while the chef has formerly graced the kitchen's of Abattoir, Pricci, and Vini Vidi Vici. As such, it's no surprise that the rustic Italian fare served at Campagnolo is expertly prepared and presented. During my visit for brunch, I opted for the chicken picatta sandwich and a mimosa, the latter of which I consider to be an essential brunch accoutrement. The cocktail was on point and the sandwich was both flavorful and adequately portioned. The dish was also accompanied by a small side salad, which complemented the sandwich quite nicely. Service: Personable, professional, and eager to please. Our waiter was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The manager also stopped by once the food had arrived to gauge our satisfaction with the meal. Atmosphere: Despite the fact that Campagnolo means "peasant" in Italian, this place is far from a peasant's hangout. The interior is impeccably decorated, complete with rustic wood accents, an open kitchen, and a lowered back dining room. Dress is casual. The restaurant also offers an outdoor patio with a bird's eye view of the intersection of Piedmont and 10th Streets. Cost: Surprisingly inexpensive for the location and quality of the food. Lunch and brunch entrees are $6-$10, while dinner entrees are $10-$20. Dinner sides are $5 and desserts are $7. Bloody Mary's, Bellini's and Mimosa's are $5 each, but $3 for refills. Other: Valet parking is available - the entrance is off Piedmont just before Helmet Hair Salon. Otherwise, ample free street parking is available along Piedmont and the surrounding side streets. I was very excited to try the food at Campagnolo after many visits sipping wine on their patio. I actually don't think I've ever been inside the main restaurant.... Started with a caprese salad app that came with massive tomato chunks and a great portion of cheese. Certainly enough for the five of us. I'm more of a "eat the cheese and not the tomato" kind of guy, but the vinaigrette on the tomatoes was excellent with the cheese. We also got the peach bruschetta which was interesting in flavor and texture. Goat cheese and peaches actually go together well on this dish! I'm also a fan of pasta places that let you get smaller portions. For $10 I had the small orecchiette (small ears) pasta dish with house made sausage, broccoli rabe, parmesan, cherry tomatoes. A great pasta dish with a rich and meaty flavor. A great portion for a great price. I certainly could not have eaten more of it. Kev, our server, did an excellent job with a few us showing late and making us feel welcome. He even handled one of my friends spilling a glass of wine with ease. You should have seen my reflexes avoiding the red wine river. I am fast. To give you a reference point, I'm somewhere between a snake and a mongoose. And a panther. My only pet peeve with this place is their beer glasses. I definitely prefer pint glasses to their oversized champagne flutes. I don't think the glasses hold 16oz either, maybe 14oz. Was driving by with some friends and it was the exterior of this restaurant that made us change our dinner plans. It has an elegant look and you'll realize it's rather spacious when you step in. We had the mushroom carpaccio and mussels for starters, definitely ask for bread to dip into the sauce because it would be a waste if you don't!. Pork shank was great, the braised shank definitely retained alot of flavor, loved the bone marrow and of course.. the juicy layer of fat. Orecchiette was the best pasta we had out of the gnocchi and capellini. Well cooked, the sausage has a heavier garlic and fennel taste to it opposed to other restaurants which I really really like. Ehhhh! After spending a long day at the Georgia Aquarium, my husband, my in-laws, and I found this place nearby for dinner. There was a tiny parking lot that seems to share with the pet store next door but there were spots available and it was close to the restaurant. Once we entered, the first thing that hit us was that it was LOUD - but we were immediately seated in the back where it was a bit quieter but still loud enough to not be able to carry on a conversation. The waiter came by the table to take our orders - the chicken, the gnocchi, and the salmon as well as the appetizers - chicken liver mousse and rice balls. The rice balls were really good - fried well and flavored with the right kind of sauces. I cannot comment on the chicken liver. When the main entree came out, the dishes looked, er, different than what I had imagined. They served a painfully small portion of the gnocchi and the chicken looked very much like a chicken-and-noodle soup. And my dish was their lasagna...but wait, I didn't order the lasagna. After about a few minutes of trying to get the attention of the waiter, they finally took it back and got me the salmon. The waiters/waitresses were nice about it - apologized and I think they made it a priority to have the salmon ready asap. The salmon wasn't cooked well - it was overcooked, dry, and blah. It was not worth waiting the extra time for the salmon to be cooked. All in all, there were some hits, some misses, definitely not a family-friendly restaurant, but I doubt I'll be coming back anytime soon,. read more

I live in Austin, TX and was in Atlanta to visit my Lady Love. This was the first time either of us went to Campagnolo, however, we're already planning our return visit. We were a little pressed for time and were happy to be seated immediately. Our waiter, Kyle, was very courteous, friendly and attentive. He knows the menu well and answered all of our questions in detail. We told Kyle about our time constraint and he acted accordingly. He made sure that our dinner went smoothly, while at the same time, never giving us a feeling of being rushed. Kudos to Kyle. Ok, great service, nice atmosphere but the proof is in the pudding. Or, in this case, in the salad and entree. Being pressed for time we decided to split both courses. For starters we had: Caprese tomato, mozzarella, basil, roasted garlic, balsamic vinegar. Three large tomato slices, each topped with a generous serving of mozzarella and drizzled with a delicious balsamic dressing. Excellent! Our entree was: Fettuccine fresh pasta, argentinian red prawns, sofrito, roasted tomato, preserved lemon, basil A large serving of pasta in a unique tomato based sauce and six juicy prawns. Delicious!!! The service was so efficient that we found ourselves with enough time for a quick dessert. My Lady never had cannoli so I asked about it. No cannoli! Oh no!!, but there's several other goodies on the menu. This is my only, albeit minor, complaint. I can't blame Campagnolo for not having what we wanted so I won't diminish my rating of this excellent Italian restaurant. read more

I had a pretty bad experience here my first time and I didn't want that to color my review, so I returned for a second chance. Unfortunately Campagnolo fell short again. Although the service was much better this time, ultimately it's about the food and this is where it falls apart. GF and I shared the caprese salad to start, and this was decent. The tomato slices were thick, the basil leaves were fresh, but the mozzarella was past its prime and a little grainy. Not the nice springy buffalo mozzarella better places serve. For entrées, I had the corvina and GF had the risotto. My fish would have been good, but there were too many competing flavors and the dish was just confused. The chef would do well to remember that sometimes less is more. GF's risotto was decent, but nothing to write home about. Our dining companions all had similar comments, that the food was mediocre at best. For the money, there are too many Italian restaurants serving better food. Our second time at Campagnolo was likely our last. read more

We have been to Campagnolo a few times for brunch and have never been disappointed. The service has been fantastic every time and everyone that works here is super friendly and very welcoming. There is nice pet friendly patio outside and the interior is simple and elegant. Everything I have tried here has been really good. I'd recommend trying the sausage frittata, Brussels sprout Panini, Campagnolo burger, or caserecci pasta. The frittata is huge and has a nice mix of sausage, tomatoes, caramelized onions, and provolone. If you aren't starving it really can be shared by 2. The burger is really good and is topped with mortadella, pepperoni, provolone, onion ring all on garlic bread. It is a very unique and tasty burger. Really, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the items on the menu. I'll have to post another review once I make it here for dinner. Mimosas, Bloody Mary's, and Bellini's are all $5 dollars each and only $3 to refill as well which is a pretty good deal. Campagnolo is very enjoyable. Their ingredients seemed extremely fresh(which is always important for an Italian restaurant) and interesting. The atmosphere was wonderful and the service was excellent too. I ordered the capellini with meatballs. It was very good except one minor complaint in that some of the pasta was bit hard. I definitely would like to come back as the squid ink spaghetti looks incredible as did the lasagna. read more

I am sad this place was a disappointment for Sunday brunch. We were a group of women and we ordered a variety of dishes. There was french toast on the table, omelet, polenta (or grits) with eggs, shrimp & grits and my dish was a Caprese (Heirloom Tomato & Mozzarella) salad. I asked if the salad comes with some greens and Daniel offered to give me arugula with the salad, nice gesture. After I tasted the tomatoes, this restaurant lost most of the points. Heirloom tomato? More like Roma tomatoes from Kroger. The arugula and the mozzarella tasted nice, especially with the balsamic reduction however overall the salad was underwhelming. My peach Bellini was also average. Daniel was a great server and on his game with drinks. And the location of this place is fantastic but the food leaves much to be desired. read more

I first visited this gem in my neighborhood with a friend for dinner and drinks. That is when I found out about piano sing along night on Fridays and Saturdays ... HELLO! So I've since returned for dinner a few times and brunch. I have yet to try something I don't like but my favorites are definitely the cozze (mussels), arugula salad, cioppino, lasagna and vegetable frittata. So yummy! The atmosphere is delightful, very cozy but open, especially with the high ceilings. Great for a date night or a small group of friends. If you are not into the sing along scene, they have some more private tables in the back but seriously it's fun! I can't speak for their cocktails but the prosecco is yummy. Service is great, attentive but not overly so. As a bonus, they start brunch at 10am instead of 11am ... probably not a bonus for most people who aren't morning people! The space has been several restaurants over the years... not sure if the space in jynxed or what but provided they keep up the quality of food and service, Campagnolo won't be leaving anytime soon! read more

I went here with several friends to celebrate a milestone. I had the zucchini piccata for my first dish, which was delicious. The bread at the table was also freshly baked and quite good. The special was scallops wrapped in prosciutto on top of fried polenta. The dish tasted fine, although the polenta was too crunchy. However, $23 for three scallops is very overpriced. My friends mostly ordered the lasagna which looked good and actually filled people up. I left the restaurant hungry. The food was good enough to pull my rating up to 3 stars, but the service was atrocious. Our waiter was very aggressive about pushing the wine on us, even after we declined several times. Even as he brought us tea and soda, he kept pushing the wine. Then he questioned people who did not order a salad and tried to force them to order one by repeatedly asking if they were sure they didn't want salad. He had trouble communicating clearly and became fairly upset when a late arriving guest did not seat where he expected the guest to sit. We also had to wait 90 minutes for our food to come out. The waiter never checked on us or let us know what the delay was. I doubt I'll be coming back. read more

I had dinner here on a Saturday night, out on the patio, which was very nice. We did check out the inside bar, which is nice, too. We actually ordered a drink there (I had the Pantheon, which they told me was like an Italian mojito - it was good). I didn't feel like pasta so I had some sides for my meal. I had the Caprese salad, which featured heirloom tomatoes in interesting shapes and colors and was very good. I also had an order of the broccoli rabe, which was very rich and had a nice flavor. It was very buttery - this is not a healthy dish. I sampled my friend's Brussels sprouts and they were really good. She also had the Orecchiete, which features their housemade sausage, and she said it was good. I have to say that I did smell the sausage (when we walked into the restaurant we could clearly smell the sausage) and it smelled wonderful. My only real complaint is that the service seems a bit frenetic and frazzled. It was almost like they were too eager to help. We were asked about our seating preference by four different people, two different bartenders took our drink orders, but when we were finally seated, our server didn't seem to notice us for about 10 minutes (he did acknowledge that he was ignoring us and sort of apologized). Our server was pretty hyped up and a little rushed and when I asked him about two different dishes to help me decide, he randomly suggested a completely different dish that was not at all similar to the ones I was considering. It was a little spacey. But, everyone was still really nice. read more

This place makes me happy. They serve delicious food (you *have* to try the lasagna) and have a very solid cocktail rotation. Pretty much everything else I've had for dinner is decent. I usually sit at the bar and the bartenders are friendly, the stools are comfortable, and when I order a manhattan it comes out made properly - with an adequate amount of whiskey and thus not drowning in vermouth, with a cherry for the perfect finish, and without an obnoxious question as to whether I'd like indulge in the latest cocktail ruining fad by having my manhattan on the rocks. I remember brunch being a tad disappointing - there was nothing spectacular that stood out, but that may be because I'm more of a breakfast snob than an excuse-to-booze-heavily-in-the-middle-of-the-day sort of guy (not that there's anything wrong with that!). The décor inside is quite nice - classy modern chic - and they have a patio where you can soak up the sun or enjoy those warm Atlanta nights. When you're done you can head around the corner to Kat's for some live music. read more

In short, I may have had a bad case of hunger-bias and the mortadella/beef/pepperoni combination on the burger was just the right elixir for my ravenous appetite after walking through midtown for a day. $11 - Campagnolo burger $10 - Meatball sub I went back and my date and I ordered the Campagnolo burger (again) and the meatball sub. The burger seemed a bit salty (surely a byproduct of the pepperoni and mortadella) but it also seemed to miss that grungy and manly kick that a burger should deliver. The meatball sub was just...meh. Meatballs were well cooked - almost TOO well cooked - and the cheese blend melted on top was a nice touch but nothing special. Campagnolo serves a purpose if you're looking for Italian food near Piedmont Park with exceptional people watching and slightly above decent eats = 3 stars. read more

My husband am I have lived right down the street for the past year and finally stopped in for dinner a couple weeks ago. I am so sorry we didn't come in sooner! It was one of the best Italian meals we have had in Atlanta. We recently toured Italy and Campagnolo is spot on! We sat on the patio which was perfect and started with the pancetta arancini (breaded risotto balls) - what a way to start! My husband then ordered the lasagna which was almost as good as our fav lasagna in Rome- the bechamel completes the dish! I had the orrechiette with sausage and broccoli rabe- very tasty. I'm a huge fan of Italian food. I came here expecting authentic and unique Italian food. I got what I wanted. Campagnolo is a very clean and modern for an Italian restaurant. The service was wonderful! EJ took awesome care of us. The patio was popular when the weather is nice. There is a bar and seating from 2 to how ever many people they can fit in the small restaurant. The restroom is unisex. For starters, we had the calamari di Sicily. The calamari is not the typical fried squids you see at other Italian restaurants. It's sautéed with pine nuts, golden raisins, white wine, tomatoes and scallions. It's heaven and a real treat for your taste buds. The arugula and roasted beet salads were fresh and delicious as expected. However what I didn't expect was pickled egg slices in the roasted beet salad. It adds a nice je ne sais quoi to the flavor. It was surprising and refreshing for a salad topping. For dinner, I had the spaghetti. It's not the ordinary spaghetti your mom fed you when you were six. This spaghetti was made of squid ink pasta and served with prawns and thickly shaved parmesan cheese. This was my first time trying squid ink pasta and I was very excited and impressed with it. I think I'm going to start eating only squid ink pasta from now on...OK maybe not. It was very good. What I expected when I saw prawns on the menu was a mini lobster with the head and tail still on but cut down the middle for easy access. I thought that would be a beautiful presentation but what do I know? What I got was a peeled shrimp with the tail ends which may be easier for people to devour. My friends had the gnocchi, Cornish hen and capellini. All of them loved it. I had a bite of the Cornish hen and it was like rotisserie chicken on top of potato soup. That was very good. The only thing I did not like was the bread they served before dinner. It was dry but I'm not there for the bread. For dessert, we had the Banana Walnut Semifreddo which has warm beignet and salted caramel. This was Campagnolo's signature dessert and it was fantastic. Solid neighborhood restaurant with mediocre service but a great environment and vibe. Always seems busy which is great for having fun. Their wine list is lacking in terms of vineyards offered and number of wines offered by varietal but it is okay. The food is the best part about the establishment. It is always served on point and taste great. I would give them 3.5 stars but unfortunately Yelp doesn't allow 1/2 star reviews. read more

Am here in Atlanta for a business trip and was looking for something non-southern for a change (had eaten at South City Kithen 2 nights in a row already. So i looked for an Italian joint nearby. Campagnolo was within walking distance from the Marriott so i gave it a shot. It's in a pretty nice, active area nearby Piedmont Park. Got there around 8ish and it wasn't busy at all. Walked in the door and there were like 5 waiters just chilling there talking to each other, which got me worried. But one of them immediately greeted me and helped me to a seat outside. Throughout the night, Mark, the guy who seated me was attentive enough - not overly draped on me, nor was there a time where he didn't get me what i needed. Just right I'd say. Friendly guy too. Asked for the recommendations, but went with the Orechiette with sausage. Bread came quickly - bread was nice and soft and came with pesto oil. For just one person, they sure did give me a lot of bread. Asked for sweet tea, which when he returned, said they didn't have, but he improvised and gave me tea and some simple syrup on the side. I like that he didn't just give up. My food came pretty quickly - about 15-20 min later. Was nice and hot, the pasta itself was well cooked. And the portion was huge. I honestly should have gone with the smaller portion for $10. Large was $16. The sausage was very well cooked and seasoned. Not tough, not too salty (which was my fear). It was tossed with some baby tomatoes and broccoli rabe, which were fine. Definitely didn't finish it. For dessert, i had the chocolate bread pudding. I consider myself a bread pudding connoisseur and this was definitely sub-par. Large portions of not completely cooked bread (i.e., it was as if eating stale bread). Other parts were fine, so i ate from those areas, which unfortunately were less than the stale parts. Flavor was good - wish they gave you more strawberries on the side. If only they could cook it properly, it'd have been pretty good. Definitely stay away from it. Towards the end of the night, by now 945/10ish, live music started playing. Guy was pretty good. Woulda stayed but the bugs outside were beginning to come out to play and homey don't play that. Overall, nice ambiance (although totally different outside vs inside; inside is definitely swankier, outside is more casual). Good solid food. Poor dessert execution. Friendly, prompt service. I'd give it another go. On a side note, I think that area is most likely the gay district/part of town. So, if that's your thing, might want to hit up this joint too. The tunes the singer was playing definitely leaned towards that way - Elton John's "Daniel", a Les Mis tune, the song from My Best Friend's Wedding back-to-back-to-back. I did enjoy it though. And prior to the live music, they play over their sound system a darn good blend of 80s and 90s music - heavy on the King of Pop. Would be a great place for a first date in my opinion. read more

Midtown Atlanta + Italian Food = Campagnolo. The owner, Alice, is a gem and propels this place into stardom. I was introduced to this restaurant by really great friends who have been coming here for years. Wednesday Nights are 1/2 price wine nights, and let me tell you that this is ONE of the best nights to come. The food is excellent and on point, and the atmosphere is casual and fun. The service is probably the best in Midtown. You don't expect this place to be as wonderful as it is being placed beside TEN and across from Blake's and G's, but it is a special place. I ordered takeout. I opted for the seared chicken sandwich, cooked piccata style. Also included were tomatoes, parmesan, and capers. It was a pretty solid sandwich. The lemon sauce was very tasty. Not quite a piccata though because the chicken was not breaded. That's not a big problem though, healthier anyway! It did appear they took the extra step of roasting the tomatoes. It really helped to bring out their sweetness. I thought using garlic bread for the sandwich was a great idea. Don't know why I never thought of that. The sandwich was accompanied with an arugula salad. The greens were crisp, lightly dressed, and also topped with parmesan. The only reason I don't opt for more points is that the sandwich could have been prepared a bit more thoughtfully. All of the components were fantastic, but they really could have halved the bread portion. As it stood, the innards of the sandwich were surrounded with too much bread (i ended up tearing half of it off). Maybe it's a preference of mine, but I like the components of the sandwich to be balanced and complimented by the bread rather than overtaken. I'm not complaining about the portion size, for the price it was more than adequate. A little less bread though and the sandwich would feel more complete. That said, it was a great sandwich and salad for $9. You'd spend nearly that much on a sandwich and fries from a fast food restaurant. I will absolutely visit Campagnolo in the future. I look forward to trying their dinner. If the sandwich is any testament, I can't wait to head back there. read more

Looks like a good semi-regular Italian restaurant. It was solid but not mind-blowingly awesome. We tried: Salad Mussels Cioppino Capellin with added meatballs Mussels were good - The sauce was a little more pungent than I expected but still good. Great for sopping up with bread. Capellin was a great-sized portion of pasta. It was traditional Italian so it wasn't drenched in sauce. Three meatballs were very hearty. Cioppino - Biggest disappointment. It was generally good but three of the four clams were closed. To me, that is a failure on the chef's part for failing to check the quality of the seafood. The restaurant decor is very nice. The location has always been a bad spot for restaurants and it has a clean, open feel. read more
