I came on a Friday night for a friend's bday dinner. They don't accommodate large groups in the front room so we were in the back area which was less aesthetically pleasing but more intimate. The menu has a wide array of pasta dishes. They were sold out of a couple of dishes by the time of our late (10PM) reservation. I was between the ravioli and the duck lasagna. I went for the lasagna and it was a disappointment for me. It tasted a bit burnt and I could appreciate the duck flavor. The carrot garnish was also a bit flavorless. The other girls I dined with really enjoyed their dishes and the service was good so that's why I stop gave 4 stars. The cocktails were also good and reasonably priced. We ubered so I can't speak on parking but it's midtown/downtown so do with that what you will. read more

Parking can be a nightmare if you don't have a go to deck/street to use since they don't really have designated parking (the two lots suggested on the site are pretty expensive). Ubering is also a pretty decent idea especially if there's an event at fox. The inside of the restaurant is super nice and deceptively large, with a few dining rooms. Our service was great too and everything came out very quickly. We started with the ciabatta bread with their homemade spiced butter. It was absolutely amazing and will definitely be getting it every time I go! We then had our own pasta tour with 4 plates of pasta since they can do 60% of most pasta dishes at 60% of the price. I think 3 would have been the perfect amount, but it was nice having more variety to try. 1. Wagyu beef truffle ravioli - the BEST! I loved their truffle sauce and the beef was super tender 2. Duck lasagna - super tasty and came with a side of carrots. 3. Squid ink pasta - usually not a fan but the one at Lyla Lila is so good! Loved the addition of nduja and garlic butter breadcrumbs. 4. Lyla Lila is an incredible Italian restaurant located near the Fox Theatre. The food and atmosphere are both phenomenal. We started out with some mocktails, and I especially loved the Rings of Saturn recommended by our server. Outstanding dishes included the Wagyu Beef and Black Truffle Ravioli, Duck Lasagna, and Squid Ink Spaghetti. They were all delicious, but the Wagyu Beef and Black Truffle Ravioli was my absolute favorite. I also love that they offer the option to order 60% of the pasta portion for 60% of the price -- such a great idea! For our entrée, we had the Red Snapper, though I personally preferred the pastas over the entrées. We ended the night with the Lemon Cheesecake and Chocolate Sea Salt Gelato, both excellent choices. Chef-partner Craig Richards has a deep resume in food business, but this is his first as owner. Unlike many Italian restaurants, the décor of the two dining rooms is artsy and beautiful. We started with the Buffalo Mozzarella, that is served with squash, beets and black truffle vinaigrette. Yum! The Crispy Artichokes are shaped into roses, crunchy on the outside with a buttery center. It was sensational. Never had artichokes served that way. The menu, as expected is heavy on pasta, but they give you the option of a full serving or half portion (which is actually about 60% of the full). For entrees, I selected the multilayered Crispy Duck Lasagna, which is the #1 pasta order by Yelp reviewers. It was exquisite. But the highlights of our meal were Cappelletti Ravioli and the Cavatelli. Rich, authentic tastes. Save room for the desserts. We ordered the Meyer Lemon Cheesecake, Chocolate Mouse Cake and some Chocolate-Salted Caramel gelati. The desert course almost topped the entrees. The restaurant has an extensive wine selection, but also a full bar. Most of their liquors are small batch regional producers, so keep that in mind. We start with a cocktail, and by now we've had everyone on the menu, including the nonalcoholic ones, as one of my friends doesn't drink alcohol. There isn't one that we wouldn't drink again. We always eat family-style to have more variety on the menu because we want to try everything. I will share what we had the last time. We started with rosemary ciabatta with citrus-chili butter. The broccoli and fennel salad, olives, pistachios, banana peppers, oregano, and provolone will dance in your mouth. The tuna crudo with strawberries and fennel was a unique combination of flavors. Our experience from beginning to end was 10/10! We weren't particularly excited about any of the apps but pro tip: you can order any of the pasta dishes as an appetizer portion. We settled on the duck lasagna, wagyu ravioli, and the cavatelli. Words can't describe how delicious this meal was!! I was most excited about the duck lasagna but wow the wagyu ravioli and cavatelli are a must order!! The flavor of these are so unique and delicious. Both were delicious and interesting, especially the lemon flavored butter for the bread. A cool thing the restaurant does is allow for smaller portions of all their pastas at a lesser price. We shared 4 smaller portions of pasta, including the Squid Ink Spaghetti, Ravioli Doppio, Pork Rib Ragu, and Cacio e Pepe. Just phenomenal!! We were lucky to find bar seats without a reservation on a Wednesday night before seeing a show at the Fox. What a treat. I didn't drink (fear of falling asleep at the show, iykyk), but I did indulge in lots of food. We had the mozzarella salad as an app, which is literally just cheese and olive oil, so we had to order bread to go with it. Weird but ok. We split 3 half orders of pasta, and the cavatelli was the clear winner. It had pork rib ragu in it that melted in your mouth. The cacio e Pepe was salty but excellent, and the sweet potato ravioli was divine. The sweet ladies next to us offered to let us try their duck lasagna, and I understand why it's what this restaurant is known for. They loved trying our pasta too. Who knew you could make friends at the bar? Haha. The service was excellent, and we got our food and check in a pretty short amount of time because we had to catch the show. I want to start by saying my 3 star review is for the food only. My cocktail and the service was a 5. I flew in from California today for work and was looking forward to a nice dinner after a long day. I was excited to try Lyla Lila after seeing it in the Michelin Guide and mentioned in some ATL Reddit threads. Unfortunately, I didn't like the food. The ambiance was warm and welcoming - I opted to sit at the bar. My bartender/server was friendly and the cocktail I ordered was great (not pictured, Fist of Fury). The mushrooms were ok, but I found the overall texture to be slimy/greasy rather than a nice meaty char that I was expecting from the menu's description. I ate most of them because I was hungry, but wouldn't order them again. I was most excited for the duck lasagna because of the menu description and other reviews. Unfortunately again, I fear it didn't live up to expectations. Overall it was under seasoned, and all I could really taste was the crusted cheese on the top layer. I was hoping for deep earthy notes from the duck and the cocoa béchamel, maybe a little bitterness - but it was all kind of flat. The carrot purée and salad were there to add contrast and brightness, but didn't quite do their job - under seasoned and needing a bit more acid. The carrot salad on the side was also tricky to eat because of the raw shaved preparation - maybe more of a slaw/julienne or a thicker slice or big cut roasted carrots would have been better. I mentioned to the bartender that I really didn't like the lasagna when I declined a to-go box and he generously took it off the bill. I was really grateful for that, and didn't expect it at all. I also declined dessert, which I normally order, because I didn't want to risk another flop. If I lived in the area I might give the restaurant another try because the service was so good, but on a short work trip I'm going to venture elsewhere. read more

This place is wildly expensive but WOW it is good. I came here with a friend and we did the pasta odyssey which was delightful. Ever pasta was great, though some were more memorable than others. In particular the duck lasagna was not our favorite, which seems to be one of their standard menu items. We didn't get much duck in either of our portions. Very thoughtful truffle additions (not too much!) and other very high quality ingredients. The menu changes so several of the pastas have changed - I'd love to go back and try more! Parking is very difficult in this area so we ubered. The place fills up fast so reservation, especially in the weekend, is highly recommended. The ambience and decor are elegant from floor to ceiling. There are some black vents on the ceiling that look strangely dirty and out of the picture, but I guess no one care to look up as much. Once I saw them, I couldn't unseen them. The service is professional and nice. The food is on the high price but it makes sense for the midtown location and the upscale restaurant. We had: - Broccoli & fennel salad: it's better to get a small portion if you plan to try several other dishes. We got the small portion and there's still a lot. - Crispy artichoke: super crunchy, like snack chip crunch. As much as I like the texture, the taste is too salty for me. - Calamari from the grill: fresh squid but the flavor is a mix of very salty, a hint of spiciness and bitterness where the charcoal burnt are. This dish doesn't work for me either. - Wagyu beef and black truffle ravioli: this dish is the star. - Squid ink spaghetti: the spaghetti texture is kind of chewy and not al dente. It's also over seasoning to my taste. - Ice cream sandwich with amarena cherry gelato and magic shell: this dessert is a star and highlight of the whole meal. All in all, the menu is a hit and miss to me personally. But the restaurant itself deserve good rating with tasty cuisine, and nice ambience. I still recommend the place. read more

Popped in last night before our show at the Fox for an overdue reservation! We began our dinner with the Soul Vaccination (spin on an old fashion with duckfat) and a Monks Repose (12/10). We ordered the bread service, the crispy artichokes, and the smoked scallops. The scallops were the best part - the presentation was great and they were so fresh! We couldn't decide on a pasta to try, and they offer a "pasta odyssey" which means you can order up to 5 appetizer sizes of pasta so you can try them all! We opted for 2 to try (cacio Pepe and wild boar with sweet potato ravioli) the boar ravioli was the best - it also had thin slivers of truffle. If you know me, you know I'm a whore for truffle For mains, we did the snapper and the main portion of the wagu truffle ravioli. The fish was out of this world but I would pass on the ravioli next time. Since we love food and are fatties, we ordered two desserts (ginger cake and tiramisu!) They were both great but we were stuffed. This would have been a 5 star review, but unfortunately the host wasn't super friendly and also didn't ask to take our dripping umbrella. Our server Stafford was by far one of my favorites servers I've ever had. We made the experience even better. The items we ordered was the cold smoked scallops, calamari, rack of lamb, wagyu beef ravioli, and the duck lasagna! Everything tasted fantastic. -The scallops came out with the lid on and the smoked inside the dish so they did the fancy lid removal and spinning of the smoke. Wasn't expecting that (I'm good without that attention you get from the rest of restaurant). Minus that the scallops were super delish. -The pesto with the calamari was super flavorful. -The wagyu beef and truffle ravioli made my heart happy. Best ravioli I've ever had and the cheese was so fresh tasting! -They are apparently known for the duck lasagna which I get now. It was quite tasty however it's a very filling dish. Reminded me of a holiday dish. -Last and definitely not least the Rack of Lamb, chefs kiss! This dish was my favorite of them all. Wow, I was absolutely blown away by the quality of food here. They source their food from a local farm and have a rotating menu based on the produce. The decor and ambiance is tasteful. Service was attentive and pleasant. Probably the best Italian inspired restaurant I've been to, period. Crispy artichokes: the presentation was stunning. I liked the deep flavor of the stems, but felt the dish was quite one-noted. The cheese spread at the bottom of the plate was interesting, but I felt the fish roe was underutilized (in fact I couldn't taste any flavor from it but noticed it was there from the menu description). Wood grilled mushrooms: these were grilled to perfection which drew out a wonderful umami flavor from the mushrooms. There was a thicker mushroom and some enoki style ones - both were excellent. The truffle aioli was the cherry on top. Honestly I didn't know mushrooms could taste like this! Crispy duck lasagna: 13 layers of nicely cooked pasta topped with a delightfully crispy top since it's flash fried, then finished in the oven. The bechemel could've been more flavorful, and I could barely taste the duck. However, the carrot puree was lovely, along with the carrot and radish on the size. Portion size is big enough to feed 2-3 people, which I felt was incredibly generous of the restaurant. Cavatelli with pork ragu and tiger prawns: the pasta was made in-house and cooked perfectly. The pork was savory and tender. The prawns felt a little unnecessary as the dish would've held its own without them, but they were cooked well and I always love extra protein. Portion size was also quite sizable for this dish; we had leftovers. Tiramisu: I thought they dusted extra cocoa power for decor but it turned out to be chocolate shavings which was neat! The coffee flavor is quite strong to the point where it initially tastes too bitter, but as you eat more, it gradually balances out. I enjoyed the large-ish dark chocolate bits they included, which made for a sophisticated flavor. Definitely blows Cafe Intermezzo out of the water, no contest. Lemon cheesecake: much sweeter than the tiramisu but the lemon flavor was highlighted prominently. I enjoyed the extra creme fraiche on top with the lemon shavings, and the bluberries were huge, plump, and sweet. Definitely gave farm-to-table vibes! Overall, extremely impressed and thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. I got a few peeks into the kitchen as waitstaff were walking in and out, and it looked beautiful. Even though the lighting is dim it really adds to the experience, and there are plenty of people chatting at the bar area too. I love how they have a seating area for single diners as well. My boyfriend and I made a reservation a couple hours in advance, which was a late dinner since we were jet lagged from flying from California. We started off with the broccoli, fennel, and celery salad. This was so delicious! I was surprised because I never had a broccoli salad before much less one this good. The broccoli was perfectly crisp, the pistachios added a nice crunch, and the provolone wasn't overwhelming. I usually don't like celery but I honestly didn't even notice it in this salad. Then came the entrees, the duck ravioli and wagyu & truffle ravioli. I liked the duck ravioli but wished it had a little more duck in it. It was definitely a unique dish though, worth a try! My boyfriend enjoyed the wagyu and truffle ravioli but it was a little too rich for me. For dessert we settled on the tiramisu, which was definitely the right choice. It was a huge slice compared to the lemon cheesecake we were considering, and I loved every bite of it! This made it to the list of my top tiramisus. Service was great as well, we were seated promptly and our waiter John was attentive in making sure that our plates and silverware were switched out between courses. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed warmly and was allowed to choose my seat from a few of the banquettes as I was alone and they weren't yet too busy. The ambiance was intimate but casual at the same time with first a fun selection of ABBA music playing and then some jazz tunes. My server came over immediately and was attentive the entire meal, checking on me frequently. I ordered the tuna crudo as an appetizer which was absolutely heavenly, the tuna pairing wonderfully with the strawberry and just melting in my mouth, then the cacio e pepe for my entree (which I did find a bit too peppery but it was ok) with a wonderful red wine as an accompaniment. For dessert, I ordered the affogato which is one of my favorite treats and I was actually disappointed that they cooled the espresso before adding it to the cinnamon ice cream as I usually enjoy that juxtaposition of hot and cold in every bite. I took home some other desserts for my friends which were very much enjoyed- the lemon cheesecake, the chocolate mousse cake with orange caramel sauce and the tiramisu. It is $20 but no one in my party was successful in finding another available parking garage in the area. This is the only negative I have about the experience. For entree, everyone in my party got a half portion of the smoked eggplant caramelle. It was by far the best thing we had and I wish I got a full portion. If you are looking to order a pasta dish, you must get this!!!! Perfect in every way. I also got the snapper. Good flavors but the pesto was concentrated in two bites, I wish it was spread over the whole snapper so it could be in every bite. I had a bite of my friend's duck lasagna. It was phenomenal but so rich -- rich in a good way, but I could definitely not finish the whole thing on my own! Another friend got the cappelletti which was also good, the sauce was the stand out. Food is amazing!!! Service is awful though, literally everyone's energy from the servers to the bartenders to the hostess are all off and quite rude. I have been here 10+ times because the food is awesome but every single time i have had a rude experience from atleast one person at Lyla. Whomever is doing the hiring process should reevaluate how they are training their employees, it's as if everyone feels they are doing you a favor instead of making you feel welcome. Working in the tv/film space I've frequently brought very special people to me and/or high value people to Lyla and not once has anyone had a great experience outside of the food. Everyone always notices the fake smile in your face and walk away rolling eyes talk about you in the kitchen energy. If you like really great food and can tolerate the arrogant and pretentious energy the staff have and how they treat their guest so be it.... Lyla Lila is a really special spot to go on a dinner date. The whole space is gorgeous, the staff is kind and attentive, and the food is on a different level. Highly recommend getting at least one of each course. Every part of the meal is flavorful in a very unique way. You gotta try the Brussels sprouts. And I can't recommend the crunchy fuck lasagna. Both of those dishes are unlike anything I've ever had before. The ONLY complaint I have is that, for a place that costs this kind of money, it feels a bit rough that they don't give you any bread or anything like that. You can buy a couple little pieces of bread, but I really feel like it should be complimentary. Bread would go a long way to soak up some of the flavors on the plates that otherwise just get thrown out. read more

Short version: We had an amazing meal. It's complicated and expensive but amazing. For sure a special occasion spot. Get the ice cream sandwich :) Longer version: about a month in advance we made a 7:45 reservation even though a little earlier would have been better- no availability earlier. This restaurant is walking distance from the Fox Theater where apparently a lot of customers had tickets to see th 8pm stage production of Funny Girl. The restaurant largely emptied out all at once just as we took our seats. The dining room is intimate and modern but also warm and inviting. We had a table in the center of the room which I don't usually live but because of the warmth of the room it worked out well. The menu is essentially a long list of small and unusual dishes. It needs interpretation and suggestions from the wait staff. Our server, Emily, was friendly and knowledgeable. With her help we started with bread, salad, bursts, and smoked scallops. They ere all good though the scallops were the standout. The are presented with a domed lid that is removed to allow a puff of smoke to escape off the dish- amazing aromas. For dinner we had the snapper wrapped in squash, Capatelli with pork ragu and prawns, ravioli, and both of the side vegetables- okra and mushrooms. Emily helped us choose a bottle of wine.
