Second time there. I ordered the wrong thing, Lamb Marsala, thinking it was what I had the first time, Pork Shank. I do not like mushrooms and was immediately turned off. After taking one bite, I quickly changed my mind and ended up eating every one of the mushrooms. Twice I have been pleasantly surprised at this restaurant and I will keep coming back. After being sat it took almost 10 min before our server came over to take our drink orders. Other servers just kept walking by and no one said a word. Went here for dinner tonight. The piano player was fantastic, the food was delicious & the service was stellar, what more could you want? We started with the charcuterie board, it was a great selection & everything was delicious. Next we had the calamari, it was not breaded, came in a light red sauce & tasted incredibly fresh. For dinner I had the lasagna. I am from NY, Italian & I make a great one, so I have never ordered this at a restaurant before. I am so glad I did! The flavor was incredible. We were party of three. None of us had one complaint about the flavor of the food. First courses: mushroom carpaccio, Caesar salad, and beet salad. Main courses: Orecchiette for two of us was delicious! The third person had two more appetizers: meatballs and pâté. No complaints. It was curious that the butter or fat on top of the pâté was melted before presented. The constructive criticism all centers on service: why would a server dump the glasses of a vacated table in the rosemary hedge? Why would the first courses be served before our cocktail order? Why would the server for the adjacent table scrape and stack the dirty dishes on the empty table and do so loudly in my ear? Shouldn't the server be aware enough to replace the flatware dropped on the ground without having to prompt for a replacement? And when I asked the server why he dumped the used contents from the glasses in the rosemary bed (the rosemary he confirmed the kitchen uses to prepare food) the response he provided was flippant and the opposite of hospitable. We ate here recently on a visit to Atlanta, and overall we were very pleased with the experience. The restaurant is cozy, but open, so we didn't feel cramped at all. We had the arancini (risotto balls) for an appetizer and they melted in our mouths... So tasty! We both had the lasagna, and it was some of the best we've ever had! Our only grumble is that our server was a little surly for some reason. Not sure if that was just his personality or if he was having a bad day, but it was a little awkward whenever we asked anything of him. Everything was delicious, from the beet salad with its extra creamy, fresh cheese to the Brussels sprouts and steak. I'm a gnocchi fanatic and loved the creamy sauce and the tender clouds of gnocchi. The people, I think, were the best part. Our waitress was so kind and attentive, and the manager came by a few times to bring our water and appetizers. It just felt cozy--like family. We went there on a Saturday night. It wasn't our first choice but due to the long wait at all the neighboring places we went here. We were able to get outside sitting right away which is nice since we were starving. Our server was nice food was ok. I got fettuccine with shrimp. They was probably about 5 shrimp all together, for extra $7. When I ordered fettuccine I automatically assumed that it would come with Alfredo sauce, which it didn't. I was automatically disappointed. I explained my disappointment to the server and asked if I could have some sauce on a side. He came back saying that the manager said sauce would be extra $2. I opted out of it not because I didn't want to pay but for the principal. I felt like giving a side of sauce is the least they could do to make their customers happy. For pasta lovers, this is a very complete dish...not a big fan of sausage but I wanted to try since they mentioned a fennel kick into it. I was wanting a nice pasta dinner and a place that my picky eater husband could find something he would enjoy. I had the lasagna and I've never had something so delicious as this. It was out of this world fantastic. My husband who hates red sauce pasta even enjoyed it so you know it is good. It comes out in a circular bowl and is t your typical stacked lasagna it's on the thinner side buried under the most delicious layer of melted cheese. I always find two items that I ask my server what they'd suggest and I couldn't get the other option out before they stopped me with the lasagna. Seriously so good. My husband found himself a steak with potatoes which he gobbled down so I know he was a happy camper. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars was for two reasons, one we had to park around the back which was no problem but we had to walk through a nasty smelly side path between this and another restaurant and there was liquid and food on the ground and it stunk. Two the person behind the bar found it appropriate to talk about another member of staff and their "dabbling" lifestyle (their words not mine) and there were even some inappropriate words used. My husband and I stumbled upon this place when we found the flying biscuit was so busy and we didn't want to stand on their sidewalk for 45 minutes with no coffee or mimosas. Just across the street we were accommodated with fantastic bloody Mary's and coffee immediately. The service was excellent and the manager/owner was present watching over the kitchen and guests. Atmosphere was fresh and had a great vibe. Food was excellent! We had French toast and Eggs Benedict. I'm interested in only visiting spots that could exceed my expectations and this place did that. Went on a Monday night without many customers; they all seemed to be at the Mexican places in the neighborhood. Later I was told it was the 5th (Cinco) of May and suddenly that made more sense given the quality of this place. Caprese salad was great, tomatoes tasted home grown. Needed a bit of salt for my taste and none seemed available ... small complaint. The lasagna was absolutely delicious but the béchamel made it a bit rich and heavy. Didn't stop me from eating the whole thing, though (and feeling over stuffed when I left!). I have a braised brussels sprouts recipe I love so I was anxious to try theirs for comparison; mine are much better I'm afraid. Not something I'd order again. I had the gin and grapefruit cocktail (can't remember what they called it) that was a good accompaniment to the overall dinner. I came here for brunch because flying biscuit had a line around the block. What a great surprise!!! We were seated right away. Had some coffee which was good. I ordered the frittata which was good and the french toast for the table. The french toast hands down was the star!!! One of the best french toasts I have had hear in Atlanta. The manger was super nice she came around a couple times and made sure we liked the food and everything was good. The customer service was one the best I have received and I appreciate good customer service. Hubby and I went for brunch and we had a reservation. Granted, it was chilly and overcast outside - but so was the service. The food was really, really good. We would go back for the menu. I had the asparagus frittata and it was excellent!! Hubby had steak and eggs and he raved about flavor and seasoning, and the tenderness was superb. However, the server seemed obligated. His smile was forced and we had to ask for the basics ( sugar, creamer, etc. not to mention,we had to ask for coffee refill. ) We really enjoyed the food and have heard a lot of positives about this place - but a smile goes a long way. Not sure we will be back. If I were the owner, I'd remind the staff that a smile goes a long way. There is a lot of competition in Atlanta for the brunch market. Ate here yesterday for SundAy brunch. I arrived 15 minutes early for our 11:30am reservation and was seated promptly. Waitress brought me water right away. I ordered the French toast which was covereed in berries and whipped cream and was sooooo good!! I'd dare say it's the best French toast I've had in Atlanta! Very light and tasty. Got a side of the housemade sausage. Got two smallish patties but it was very good. My son ordered the steak and eGgs with fried potatoes. Potatoes were really good. Cubed, crispy and seasoned well. Scrambled eggs were cooked well. Steak was cooked to order - medium rare - but one side was charred so badly it had to be cut off each piece (steak was served sliced). My son would not order the steak again but the eggs and taters were great. My son's girlfriend is gluten free. She ordered the shrimp and polenta with bacon gravy(it wasn't called gravy but I can't remember the name :p ). It was excellent. We had bloody Mary's and peach bellinis. Drinks were okay. Had to stir the bellini with our knives because the puree was at the bottom. Should have been served with a drink stirrer because it needed to be stirred. Server was attentive. The four stars are for the drinks and the charred steak. The restaurant was never full. I don't understand that because the food was good. I will be back for more French toast! read more

The hubby and I were strolling the neighborhood this past Sat eve visiting from Los Angeles. I had mentioned earlier in the day that I had a taste for Italian. We stumbled across this place, made an online reservation, and had a predinner cocktail. We rrived 25 mins earlier than our reservation and despite a packed dining room, we were seated immediately. Our waitor was OUTSTANDING from drinks to dessert. He was friendly, informative, and most importantly, welcoming. His name began with a J, I believe, and he had bright red hair. We didnt wait for any part of our meal as the service hit a comfortable rhythm. I had the fennel sausage, brocolli rabe, and cherry tomato pasta. My man had the ribeye. People of color beware if you decide to go to this restaurant and laugh out loud, it may result in a free dessert and you being called "overly sensitive" As i sit down to write this review it honestly breaks my heart. I hate writing a negative review in regards to a small neighborhood independently owned restaurant. This is less a review about the food and more about the customer service and lack of empathy offered by the management due to a situation that was created by one of their owners named Alice. On Friday 08/26/2016 we were out on the town for a celebratory dinner. We debated between this restaurant and another in the neighborhood, but decided on this one after many of our friends had frequented this restaurant previously, and raved about it. We had reservations and were seated at a table in the main dining area. The restaurant was crowded, but not in an overwhelming way. There were people at the bar, at tables and many were waiting for the piano sing-along to begin. There were lots of people talking and laughing and the ambiance was one filled with a happy energy. We had a wonderful server who was friendly and attentive. He answered all of our questions and was quick to offer suggestions. We ordered a round of drinks and spoke amongst ourselves as we waited for our drinks. Once our drinks arrived, our night took a negative tone. An older grey haired woman approached our table and asked that we "keep our voices down, due to another table complaining that we were laughing too loudly". We were shocked and upset for several reasons. Reason #1 We were a multi-racial diverse group...one end of the table happened to be our white friends, while the other end of the table were a group full of women of color. The entire table was laughing and talking but we were approached and asked to keep our laughter and voices to a minimum. Our friends at the other end, were shocked to learn what was happening since they were not asked to be quiet. Reason #2 Ten minutes after we were asked to be quiet, the piano sing-along began and the entire restaurant was loud and "singing along" to the show tunes. Why would you ask us to be quiet when within minutes of doing so your restaurant became a boisterous, lively place that was loud and engaging? Reason#3 We were offered a "free" dessert as compensation for asking us to be quiet...as if a free dessert could make this situation better Reason #4 My friend asked to speak to Alice...my friend said to her " thank you for bringing it to our attention that we were being "loud" and offering us dessert, but in the future if this situation should ever come up, it may be best to approach the entire table rather than just specific individuals. Alice then responded "but you guys were being loud...the little guy on the end was not being loud. Once again my friend tried to make the point that it was unfortunate to single out specific individuals, especially in a restaurant that was not quiet, with only two other tables having dinner. Alice once again said "well you were being loud and I don't think I did anything wrong" She kept putting her hands on her head as if she had a headache and looking off in the distance as my friend continued to speak to her in a quiet and calm tone. I then said to Alice " we are educated consumers that have been to many restaurants in Atlanta together and we have never been asked to "keep our voices down" she then said "well IT WAS YOU...YOU WERE THE LOUD ONE and I am dumb...I am not as smart as you since you are an educated consumer" this was not the point I was trying to make. I explained to her that the way she approached it had a tone of bias, as we were the only people of color in her restaurant. She looked around and began to counter my point and saw that this was indeed a fact, she then responded to me stating "stop being so sensitive". I have eaten at many fine dining establishments around the country, Campagnolo is not one of them. I know how to conduct myself and act like a lady. Alice's suggestion that we were being sensitive when being singled out was absurd. There were many ways in which she could have handled this situation but she chose to deal with it in a negative way. How about Alice getting some cultural sensitivity so that she can better serve her customers. The restaurant was filled with older, white gay men, so I believe that they are opened minded people BUT when it comes to race and culture, this is where Campagnolo is lacking. I was blown away by the way Alice chose to handle this situation. She lacked empathy and understanding. Campagnolo will NEVER get my $$$ nor will any of my friends who frequented the restaurant will return. In all of our years dining out we were never treated this way by a restaurant and their ownership. A free dessert does not cover the cost of the ugly taste left in our mouths by Alice and Campagnolo. Keep your dessert and learn how better to serve your customers. read more

We got one for the table to share cause we all couldn't decide and it was so good I got one to go before we left. The polenta in the meatball appetizer was great, couldn't stop eating it. Service was great as well, I wish I remembered her name but she was so sweet and accommodating. The lamb was wonderful, although slightly heavy on the sauce but the sauce was delicious. The banana ice cream that comes with the beignets tastes like banana nut bread-so good. The tiramisu had a little too much cream for my taste. My friends scallop entree was wonderful.
