Super great food and the employees are always nice. The manager used to shop at my Kroger and would stop by and ask how me and my boyfriend were doing. He recognizes his customers and is very kind. The staff was very friendly and checked on us frequently, but not too much. I got blackened chicken and it was awesome! My chicken wasn't dry and perfectly seasoned, the dirty rice was also has a little bit of a kick to it. Immediately we were greeted by a friendly and helpful staff who helped us decide since it was our first time. We decided to share the chicken fried steak and the blackened catfish. It came out quick, it was hot, and the portions were huge. Then came the first bite. OMG...seriously the BEST chicken fried steak I have ever had and the catfish was excellent!!! I had the meatloaf with coleslaw and my husband had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. We shared a banana pudding for dessert, but I gotta say I wish I had my own because it was SO good! They also have a donation corner with 5 or so charity buckets where you can drop your receipt into, and a percentage of your money spent at the restaurant will go to the charity you choose. I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, gravy and collard greens. The CFK was tender, well seasoned meat and the coating was just enough but not excessive. Potatoes were very good but the gravy was truly delicious. And the greens were incredible..... tender, big chunks of bacon. As for the service..... it was excellent. This is an "order at the window and get a number" establishment....however, the food was delivered quicker than anticipated. My guest and I sat in the restaurant for about 3 1/2 hours and there was no pressure. The owners came and talked to us. Owner could see that we were clueless looking through the menu and he personally walked us through their signature dishes and his personal recommendations. All the staff were super friendly and attentive. Hubby had the seafood combo platter and I had the pulled pork sandwich; both of us found the meat perfectly cooked and the flavors excellently balanced. Topped it off with the apparently famous banana pudding, which was fresh and creamy and a perfect size for sharing. First time dining here. Wanted to try several things... settled on the chicken tenders. They were so good!! If they use the same breading on the CFS... I'm sure it's excellent as well. Also ordered chips and salsa which were warm and fabulous. The only mistake I made was not changing the French fries to mashed potatoes on my order. The fries were okay but nothing special. I'd like to go back and try the CFS or the fried shrimp, but those dang chicken strips were so good, I don't know if I can go there and not order them! read more

It was exactly that--excellent crispy batter and mouth-watering (skillet?) gravy. The green beans and Texas toast were good. The only "knock" on my meal is that every single bite of my steak was filled with gristle! (And I hate gristle!) The excess of gristle lowered my review to 3.25 stars (out of 5). My dear wife's chopped steak topped with grilled onions and brown gravy (the Wednesday Daily Special), was also served with mashed potatoes, green beans, and Texas toast. It was adequate and also received 3.5 stars (out of 5). The cashier was friendly; there is no wait staff. Orders are taken at a service window, and delivered to your table. This "down home" restaurant is basically self-serve. The leader of a local ladies Bible study told me that they eat at Campfire Grill every Wednesday, and the food is consistently good. Next time, I may order the Fried Catfish, which won a "Best of the Best" Award in 2019. read more

We've gone twice to eat here - once at a busy time, once at an odd time. Both times, the food was absolutely delicious! I had chicken fried steak both times, and oh my gosh - so stinkin' good! Honestly, it was the best chicken fried steak I've had in years! My picky toddler has loved everything she tasted. My husband (who, to be fair, eats just about anything) has loved everything he ate. My mom also raved about it and can't wait to go back when she's back in town. The second time we went, I didn't finish my meal ( SO MUCH FOOD ! ), and the manager came by to check that everything was ok. I typically don't finish meals at restaurants, but I've never had the manager or server ask if it's because the food wasn't up to standard. To me, that's amazing - he knows the quality of food they serve, and it's not ok for someone to not feel that it was a great meal. I also got the green beans and mac n cheese. Green beans were good, but the Mac n cheese I was very disappointed with. I felt like I was eating kraft Mac n cheese. It was good just not great. I called the order in and had to wait an extra ten minutes after I was told it was going to be ready. But they handed me a Togo cup and treated me to a free soft drink.
