As my husband and I planned an anniversary trip to Yellowstone National Park, we knew from rigorous planning that Campione would be the last exquisite supper before glamping and touristy meals in West Yellowstone. Since we couldn't guarantee our flight into BZN would arrive on time and we'd make it to a reservation, we called in advanced and were told that seats *could* be available at the bar. Recommendation: BOOK your reservation in advance and DO all that you can to make it. We arrived and were on the waitlist til a reservation holder called to cancel. We won a culinary lottery that evening -- and saw a rainbow during our after dinner stroll. The menu is Roman and a diamond in the rough. Don't confuse this cuisine with Italian. Before this trip, we eagerly anticipated the freshly caught trout. My husband was thankful for his Campione experience before ordering it from other restaurants on our trip. The pan-seared fish was richly paired with capers and parsley, funghi, leeks, and pickled fennel greens. (I almost ordered it but like a good Roman soldier, I divided to conquer the menu.) The manicotti was far from conventional. The flavorful, delicate oxtail and broth were unlike any heavy tomato-based sauce. This was simply stellar, and an ideal way to warm my belly on a rainy day. While Campione does not readily serve a chef tasting menu, each dish fully engages the senses. Rarely do I take photos when dining out; this dinner was an exception. Plating is colorful and the layers are visually engaging... but delay the gratification of the first bite especially if you order the smoked cauliflower: waft first. This was a fun experience in Livingston. This is what I would call a Montana / Italian fusion. The food is great with its unique flair. Started the meal with roasted cauliflower and fritto misto. The cauliflower was really good, cooked perfect with the right amount of seasoning. The fritto misto was a fired trio of catfish, shrimp and calamari. It was fried in cornmeal, which was pretty good though it got a little gritty at the end. I had the scallops for the main. Enjoyable meal. It could have used a little more sear and the the cook was very slightly under. The seasoning was great. Keegan was our server and she was great. She loves her job and it shows to the way she interacts with her customers. read more

Another home run! Loved it, made reservations and got to eat another Sunday dinner at my all time favorite Italian restaurant... Can't say enough, wonderful atmosphere, the owner is great always greets everyone with a smile and genuine hospitality. That really counts for us, for me, for the people I introduce to this place.. Menu provided is perfectly arranged, detailed enough to where you want to try it all! This place is AMAZING. The best restaurant in Livingston. The Fairfield recommended this place for Italian food and it did not disappoint. I had 2 glasses of their house wine and ordered both of their specials. The started was heirloom tomatoes with blistered shishito peppers in a plum sauce/dressing. It also had mini sliced plums. The flavors were exquisite and it was the perfect amount. 10 thumbs up. For dinner the special was a lamb ragu with yellow squash and something green but I forgot what it was and rigatoni. It was amazing. I portion was huge and the lamb was lean and full of flavor. Another 10 thumbs up. This place is very small and reservations are recommended. Since it was only me I got a seat immediately at the 6 top bar. Everyone sitting around me was super friendly. Our server was attentive and also friendly. Sitting at the bar was also a good choice because you got to see the food prepared and it all looked wonderful. I would highly recommend this place if you're ever in Livingston. read more

We stumbled upon this restaurant during our one night stay in Livingston and let me tell you, you do not need to miss this place! The staff were so friendly, we didn't have a reservation and the hostess made sure to get us a seat at the bar as soon as she could! She even yelled our names down the street so we didn't miss our chance. We ordered the meat balls and the bison ragu pasta. The focaccia that is served with the meatballs is all you need to rave about this place. The fresh cooked bread is to die for and goes perfectly with the meatballs marinara sauce. Wow. We stopped for Saturday brunch. What a unique venue and menu. A line had already formed before opening and we had a lovely chat with visitors from Georgia. We were able to continue the conversation because we were seated next to them. Love the historic vibe of the decor. Very clean and comfortable. I knew we were in for a treat when Keegan our "conduit to your meal" introduced herself. We wanted to try everything on the menu! We started with the bread pudding special. Very good (even though the Hubbs) is not a huge fan of raisins). Then the meatballs. Super yummy, tender with great sauce and buttery bread. For the entrees we ordered the baked rigatoni and the porkchetta. Both were very flavorful with eggs. I would have preferred two poached eggs on my rigatoni. The sauce was very rich and the egg made it the perfect bite, but I ran out of egg with lots of rigatoni to go. The pork belly on the porkchetta is sliced very thick which made it a bit chewy - tip: cut it into smaller pieces. We had lots to take home for another meal. We can't wait to come back to try other delights, and for dinner. This is a must-stop when in town. Everyone on the staff were engaging and helpful. Lovely! read more

What a great find in Livingston. Excellent, unique hand-made pasta and Italian food. Everyone was friendly, welcoming and professional from my initial phone call to see if I needed a reservation (I ate at the bar, which was a great experience) to my last good night. I started with a simply dressed fresh arugula salad, had the delicious manicotti unlike anything I'd ever eaten and topped it off with orange olive oil cake with whipped cream so thick it looks like ice cream. Everyone knows this place now as does the staff. Really nice menu and wine list. Wait staff pushes a bit knowing they work at Top 50 NYT place. Waitress seemed insulted when we ordered only apps. A bit too much bread with dishes, IE no need for huge bread pieces with pasta. Panacotta desert was way too runny. Net net is being on NY Times Top 50 list comes with rewards and pressure to impress. My boyfriend and I visited Campione for our anniversary after some suggestions from my friends. I got the linguini with meatballs and it was absolutely amazing! As was the homemade focaccia which was the perfect texture. We also ordered the arugula salad, which was a little overpowered by lemon, but otherwise good. Our wine came in a fun little pitcher, and they were really on top of making sure our glasses were full. Our waitress was really sweet and very knowledgeable about the menu. I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars, however, because the experience felt rushed. We showed up for our reservation a few minutes early, and they immediately kicked two women out of a table so that we could sit there. That was a little awkward. We definitely wouldn't have minded waiting a few minutes or waiting at the bar until a table was free. At the end of our meal, the waitress dropped the check off as we were in the middle of eating dessert, which also made us feel like they were in a hurry to get us out of there. Overall, I think in an effort to maximize profit they try to squeeze in more reservations in a night that they can handle, at the expense of customer experience. I'd definitely be down to try Campione again, maybe on a slower night. read more

Everything was perfect, but the standouts were the linguine and meatballs and the bread. Omg, the bread!!! I am emotionally distraught by not having saved room for desert. If you are within 100mi of Livingston you owe to yourself to come here and experience it. The vibe is so inviting. The staff understand the importance of sitting down and taking time to enjoy the food, wine, the people you're sharing this experience with....and they do not rush you out after 40minutes so they can turn over the table. My family and I are visiting from Philadelphia and are so glad our BZN friend lead us to Campione for brunch. They were so friendly and accommodating to our toddler - we are not used to hosts and servers at higher end restaurants being so willing to interact with children as we certainly don't find this on the East Coast. The interior of the restaurant is so quaint and inviting. It felt cozy but not crowded. Most importantly, every dish we tried was absolutely delicious. The crispy potatoes maintained their crisp, no wilty greens in sight, and the sunny-side-up eggs were perfectly cooked. This is a restaurant in a sleepy little town that could absolutely hold its own in a city like Philadelphia. Anyone passing through Livingston should give it a try! read more

Such a phenomenal meal! I was staying at Big Sky and made the trek to Livingston and it was beyond worth it. From the warm service to the delicious dishes, this place is an absolute gem and I've been dreaming about it ever since! I can't even begin to describe how friendly and welcoming and helpful the service was. As for dishes, I recommend from the dinner menu the Pasta Dei Campioni, Linguine with Meatballs, scallops (was a special) and lamb chops (also a special).
