I was so happy when they re-opened! One of my favorite spots hands down until now. There was 2 in our group and we went in for lunch on Saturday 9/2 at 2:30pm. We were met by the hostess who gave us made more information than needed. Seems the kitchen was having trouble, freshly made food and they were out of a few things. There were at the most 10 patrons in the whole restaurant give or take one or 2. The service terrible. The Server was scattered and unattentive. Apps were dropped and finished and about 30 mins later we asked the Bartender for help to find our server and to clear our table from the dishes. Placed our entrée dishes - mine cold and my guest - steaming hot - timing seemed to be the issue. But no one came to check on us. Frustrated because like I said there was a handful of patrons, they were not busy at all!! Please please please, get it together. The food and staff with the previous owners was outstanding. I was in town for one night on business and was looking for something that would satisfy my craving for pasta -- Campo Enoteca did not disappoint! I sipped on the Maialina Chianti which was incredibly tasty and dined on the Vesuvius Caprese salad and a half order of the Pesto pasta. Cheese, bread and pasta are all made in house and was absolutely delicious. It's a small, intimate restaurant with a great vibe all around. My server was Jeff and he was very kind and informative. If anyone is looking for an absolutely awesome restaurant and like real Mediterranean food, you must go to Campo Enoteca in Manchester! This is a far cry from the mainstream chain "Italian" style restaurants people think of for food. They never use frozen products and everything is made from locally obtained ingredients and is prepared as you would find in Italy. Just for example, Brenda and I love a good calamari. We found out last night that Campo gets their calamari direct from the boats and prepares it themselves. "So what" you might say. Well, unbeknownst to us, most calamari is caught in the USA and shipped overseas for processing (i.e. cutting and breading), frozen, shipped back to America, deep-fried and served to unsuspecting diners! This is just one example of sourcing and supporting local suppliers. Another amazing thing we observed was the well oiled operation at the restaurant. Every single wait person is cross trained in every aspect of the operation and is required to be able to perform any function! The staff is attentive without being obtrusive, very friendly, never let's you think they are being either pushy or neglectful and really make your experience remarkable! We have been regular patrons since they opened 7 years ago and have never been disappointed! We have had many opportunities to talk with the owners Ed and Claudia as well as their quite remarkable manager Peter and found out how a successful restaurant should operate! The food is pretty good. We were crammed in like sardines and it was impossible to have a private conversation at our table, we felt like we had the middle seat in economy on a plane. There's no where to stand when you get there-there are tables right by the door and you're standing right next to them. I know it was busy, but we had to wait a bit to pay our bill. The food was not bad, but I would recommend staying away on a Saturday night if you want a relaxing and enjoyable evening. read more

I walked into this establishment and felt my wistful thinking for city life melt away with the beautiful decor, the localvore menu, the expansive cheese, charcuterie, and italian wine selection. Then I had the food and felt the yearning for the well crafted dishes commonly found in a metropolis. Okay first off, the GF solutions are poor. It is pretty much substitutions but NOT GF pasta. The portions for the cheese board were sparse for the price. Especially since I regularly purchase those cheeses such as Camembrie and know the individual price ($5 for a half pound round btw) and assumed with wholesale bulk prices, I would get more than a 3x3 cm square for $20. I had the braised wild boar. The polenta sub for pasta was bland. The sauce was heavy and overly sweet, which is a taste thing, the boar was very dry, not moist. When I notified the manager that the boar was dry, he responded with "Dry...? But its in sauce", which any cook or braised meat lover would know that his statement was non sequitur. For $22 a plate, I found the food completely underwhelming. It's nice to have places like this but I think it would be in their best interest to have a third party "appraiser" to review the food and give tips for improvement. I used to visit Manchester frequently and have dined at Campo several times and also ordered take out a few times. Overall, great spot and one of my top recommendations for people in Manchester. Farm-to-table food, great pastas and pizzas, and a solid number of vegetarian options. The pasta dishes are especially excellent - we'd particularly recommend the pesto pasta, the butternut squash ravioli, and the spaghetti and meatballs. Really like how you can order a half or a full size! They also sometimes have a special cake for dessert, so look out for that (and get the red velvet cake if it's available). This place can get busy on Friday/Saturday nights, but we never had to wait if we stopped in on a weekday. Good service, too -- once we arrived right as the kitchen was closing, but they kept it open a little longer so that they could take us. read more

Really great farm to table spot in downtown, with excellent artisinal dishes and a buzzing atmosphere. The food is almost all locally sourced and made in-house. The food is the star here. For apps, the arancini was dynamite - light, but not delicate, with great texture and full of flavor. The risotto inside was not too dense and was seasoned beautifully. For entrees, the pasta figole was one of the tastiest dishes I've had in 2018 (coming from a foodie who eats out 20-25 times/month, that's something something.) The pastas are all made in-house and done to al dente perfection. The flavors popped in this dish with garlic confit taking center stage. The beans were so tender and the veggies sealed the deal. A dusting of parm on top gave it just the hit of saltiness it needed. Truly an outstanding dish. The 4 cheese tagliatelle was also a winner, not too intense and reminicint of a proper cacio y pepe with a some extra fresh ground pepper upon request. The orichetti with heavy cream, chili and rabe was also good, but couldn't stack up against the other 2 dishes in terms of flavor. The sercice and atmosphere are both good, and the managers seemed very active and cordial...a nice touch. Where I would suggest some improvement would be the wine program. Upgrading the stemware to bigger, more wine-flattering glasses and adding a few new world wines to the list (I know, it's an Italian joint, but there are plenty of CA wines that could crush it), and store them a bit chilled. Our wine was a bit too warm to really make an impact. We had a nice night here from 40 min south, but will definitely make the trip back for another fagiole and try a few more items off the menu. We had dinner here last night and were incredibly impressed. The ambiance, staff, and food were all top notch. We are definitely planning to go next time we are in Manchester. We went on a Friday night around 7 and didn't have a lot of time before an 8 o'clock show. The place was packed but luckily there were two open tables and we were seated right away. The feel is cozy and energizing and friendly. They serve water in beautiful glass bottles. After second glance I realized they are empty Patron tequila bottles. So clever. The food was the main attraction and it was amazing. The bread was delicious with herbed olive oil. We started with mixed greens salad. My husband doesn't usually like what he calls funky lettuce but he enjoyed it and said the dressing was great. I liked that it was mostly greens and they were so crazy tender. My husband ordered the carbonara pasta. He was hesitant because there is no cream in it but innstead it is egg based. Also the servings are not especially huge. Well he was pleasantly surprised and thought it was delicious and satisfying and also enjoyed the pasta was clearly fresh and not dried. I am vegan and at first glance I thought I'd be having a salad. Not ideal. Then I found out there are at least two dishes in the menu actually labeled vegan. I asked our wonderfully helpful waitress what she recommended and she pointed me to the broccoli and kale pizza. It had some sort of cauliflower based sauce drizzled over it. When it arrived I thought - oh no this looks too healthy. It's all vegetables piled on top of the crust. Then I tasted it. It was unbelievable. One of the experiences where you are eating and you can't wrap your brain around why this is so freaking delicious. Hands down best Italian restaurant in NH. I was so impressed by the amazing food, professional staff, and nice atmosphere. We had carbonara and butternut squash ravioli. OH MAN... literally so. good. Homemade pasta? ahhhh! Also it's an Italian style carbonara (eggs & Parmesan only) so if you're looking for the French style (tons of cream), this isn't it! The dinner bread with oil (with a bunch of flavors added) was delicious, and my house red blend wine was the bomb. Our server was so knowledgeable, professional, and friendly - just perfect. Now leading up to my favorite part..... PISTACHIO GELATO. Whenever I visit Italy, I literally live for pistachio gelato, and this place has got it right. Excellent. Our first dining experience in Manchester and what a great first impression. A farm-to-table restaurant where everything is made from scratch, and all the meats, fish and cheese are source credited. Campo's does not take reservations, but I was told over the phone a day prior that between 7-8 on Friday and Saturday nights are the busiest times, and there would be up to a 20-25 minute wait at most. We arrived just before 7, were told it'd be 15 minutes for a table for my wife and I, and we were seated in 5. Our server was awesome and gave my wife - who rarely drinks - the perfect glass-of-wine suggestion. It should be noted they have a rotating IPA on tap and last night it was Rockingham Brewery's Javelina (it was delicious). There is a bar area right behind the hostess stand, but not much room to loiter while waiting for a table. The place is cozy. The calamari was so delicious and filling! Each of our meals was very tasty. Although my wife's swordfish seemed to lack any seasoning (a good or bad thing, depending on your taste), it was cooked perfectly. I had the kale pesto pasta dish and it was amazing. We had plenty of leftovers to take home. Their menu is diverse and has something for everyone - both traditional (Roman?) and northern Italian cuisine (check out the paninis and pizzas). The service overall was terrific - welcoming, attentive, and caring, with even the GM Pete stopping by to check on us and introduce himself. The four star rating is due to it being our only visit, but pretty sure these folks will be consistent. We are huge fans. read more

Ok, let's start with the smarmy part of my review. If you just want a review without the commentary, skip this section: Campo Enoteca is a shining oasis in the vast wasteland that is Manchester's food scene. Do you like "Italian food" like chicken parmigiana and spaghetti and meatballs? Well then, this place isn't for you. The Olive Garden and Fratello's are a few miles away. Go there and enjoy stale bread from a bag ("you can have as much as you want!"). Do you like real Italian food with fresh made pasta and fresh ingredients that aren't from a can? Well then, please check out Campo Enoteca! All right, here's the non-smarmy part of my review for those of you with a weak heart. Campo Enoteca is the child of Ed and Claudia the owners of neighboring restaurant Republic. It is like Republic in many ways. Both restaurants have great decor, use fresh ingredients, and have a real attention to detail. Both establishments don't look like your average restaurants in NH. You could be in any major metropolitan city like San Francisco, Manhattan, or Chicago. Campo has a beautiful mahogany entrance way. It also seems bigger on the inside that it appears on the outside. There are high top tables and low rise tables, a beautiful marble L shaped bar where even the wines on tap are great. Next to the bar is the Charcuterie station. What is Charcuterie, you ask? Its the art of preserving meats via aging with salt. Meats like proscuitto, soppresetta, and speck. Campo has this amazing slicing machine, which I can only imagine came directly from Italy, where they slice meat to order for their customers. Order the cuts by themselves or in a pick 3 sort of deal. I recommend the proscuitto, coppa and soppresetta. Mix that with a cheese plate and you are golden (my most minor of quibbles is that there are no olives to snack on to go along with the cheese and meat). The Bread is great, not sure what those other reviewers are talking about. The olive oil is the real star. this comes with the bread and is a great accompaniment. (side note: what do you know? Their oil doesn't have shaved cheese or giant hunks of garlic! Again see comment above if you think that is "weird"). The menu is actually pretty large, there are over 10 pasta dishes, plenty of charcuterie, crostini, and salads to choose from. There are also a few "heartier" dishes like Bracciole and Chicken. I can honestly say that I want to "eat my way" thru the entire menu. Pasta is the main focus. If you've never had hand made fresh pasta you are missing out. The texture is hard to describe, but it is amazing. I heartedly recommend the Orecchiette, the Rigatoni with pork fennel ragu and the Puttenesca. I think the Orecchiette is my favorite dish. It is served with broccoli rab and has a spicy kick. Campo offers 1/2 orders, so you can try more than one thing. Again, the Orechiette and rigatoni 1/2 and 1/2 is the way to go! As to desserts, their Gelato is amazing (and served at the right temperature, which is a rarity) and the riccotta pie is great too. Its NOT a super sweet dessert so don't order that if you have a sweet tooth. I have been there 3 or 4 times and have always had a great time. The staff is nice and the service is excellent. It has been a busy place from the start, but the longest I've waited has been about 20 minutes. I'm sure that may increase a bit as the word gets out. One last thing. One other reviewer said it was "too loud." You know, that's a little true. You know what that sound is? It's people enjoying themselves! read more

No one in town is making better fresh pasta, or dressing the pasta better for that matter. If you're actually into that aspect of Italian food, rather than just another carb-shoveler, this is the only game in town. On top that their entrees are stellar, and I don't know of anywhere else to get a quality cheese plate, some charcuterie, or even just some decent pate. Like like like. This place is casual and relaxed while keeping things classy. A great place to just snack and drink and relax as much as it is for a proper multicourse meal. The staff are outstanding. My friend and I went to Campo to celebrate her birthday and had such a disappointing experience. Things started off positively. The waitress was nice but slow. It took 15 minutes to take our drink order. By the time we were finished with our entrees it was an hour later. We were told the dessert options and said we needed a minute to talk it over, as I wasn't sure which desserts my friend wanted. About 10 minutes later the waitress came back and informed us that they needed to turn our table so if we wanted dessert it would have to be to-go. We were completely shocked and politely declined. Then there was a mix up with the bill, which I had hanging off the table upside-down for 25 minutes. When I asked management why they hadn't taken our bill he was completely tone-deaf, told me he had been wanting to turn our table "for a long time", and blamed me for facing the bill face down. At that point we were so uncomfortable and just wanted to leave. Though the company was good, the food didn't make up for the poor service. read more

I love this place. You know you're in for a treat when the bread and pasta are made fresh in house. It not only speaks towards the care that the chef has for the quality of his/her product, but also nothing beats the mouth-feel of fresh pasta. From what I understand, Campo Enoteca was opened by the same person who opened the Republic down the street. This is readily apparent in the fact that the water here is also served in old Patron bottles. This little quirk aside, this place serves completely different food. Think of the Republic as the weird older brother who is currently an architect/bartender/photographer living in SOHO, wears a beanie ironically during the summer months, and begins conversations with "I'm sure you've never heard of [insert obscure indie band name here] but they have changed my view on [insert obscure political reference here]." Campo on the other hand is the younger brother who went to Wharton, now works on Wall Street, has a modern and minimalist loft in Manhattan, and wears a 3 piece suit every day. And he's Italian. Did I mention that? They serve "Roman" food here, which is Italian, I think. read more

Okay, I just need to be upfront: if your experience of Italian food is only from living in New England, this place will be a disappointment. I'm not saying that to be pretentious, as I think chicken parm is the best thing ever, but you should know what you're getting into when you go. This, my friends, is as close as you'll get to what they eat in Rome as you'll find over here. Having lived in Rome for a while, I can assure you of that. Bread and olive oil are simple, but good. For a warm-up, it's just right. Try their wines on tap for an inexpensive and joyful delight before diving into the food. The pasta is fresh, which takes time to get used to. It's a tad sweeter than most pastas you and I buy and the al dente means that it has some "ooomph" in the texture. I've had several of their variations but they do a good play on the carbonara. No, it's not exactly like Rome, but it's delicious and a nice interpretation of Rome's greatest dish. However, their charcuterie is the star attraction, especially the porchetta. I was pleased with that and could live off of it and their wine just fine. It's nice to have something like this in Manchester when I need something new from Fratellos or Pizza 911 to get me by for my carb fix ;). read more

Tucked away on busy Elm Street, up aways from sister restaurant, The Republic, is a diamond of a choice. We ordered three entrees which we split to each enjoy a variety. The special was swordfish with spinach and roasted potatoes which we ordered along with the four cheese pasta and the butternut squash ravioli. I cannot tell you which was the best as each was outstanding. We shared a cannoli as a topper which is the best and freshest I have ever had (and I have enjoyed many). This restaurant like The Republic serve only fresh local offerings without any additives so just proves healthy can also be delicious. read more
