    Shrimp Fra diavolo
    Karen C.

We were staying at The Grand at the Bedford Village Inn and we're looking for a spot for dinner. The front desk staff recommended the Trattoria and I'm so glad he did. It is some of the best Italian I've had in New Hampshire. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, it was still decorated from Christmas, which made it even more magical. The waitstaff is superb, engaging, and on their game. Everything we ordered was fantastic and we will definitely be back. We started with the appetizer special, which was a smoked mackerel crostini. It was salty and smoky and delicious. I had the shrimp fra diavolo and hubby had the pappardelle Bolognese. All of their pasta is made fresh, in-house daily. The shrimp dish was spicy and delicious and absolutely everything I wanted. The toasted breadcrumbs on top took it to the next level. My husband's Bolognese might be the best Bolognese I've ever had. if you haven't been, give it a try. You won't regret it.

    Pappardelle -- gluten free!!

We arrived at 5:40 and the place was quasi quiet. Elected to sit at the bar -- was immediately greeted by the bar tender Martin who was very cheerful and served us delicious drinks. We ordered snacks and at that point the restaurant got super busy. Martin was still very attentive and upbeat although he was the only bartender in now a full restaurant! We ordered dinner -- delicious as was the wine! We certainly weren't rushed!! We will be back! Here are some dinner pics

These were served with a pea and bacon risotto whose rich flavors matched the meatballs perfectly and the accompanying crisped breads balanced texture for the perfect combo. The pork belly tostadas had a great combination of toppings that gave them a fresh feel and almost made pork belly feel healthy, and the popover short rib dish was perfectly cooked and tasty. This one wasn't my dish, but I managed to snag a nibble and may be ordering it next time if they decide to add it to the regular menu. So good! The dishes were a nice size, leaving room for desert, and the fresh fruit meringue was an excellent finale. The restaurant itself is small, with a bar and just a handful of indoor tables. They had 4 more tables outside, however, which would be great on slightly cooler days. The indoor window seat we got was comfortable and the whole place had a cozy, friendly feel. Service was top notch, from a greeting as we entered to constant attention - we never really noticed our slightly small (bar style) table as all the dishes were cleared so quickly. I loved this place and will probably have to keep returning until I've tried the whole menu. I'm definitely hoping to try the outdoor tables next if weather permits.

The only critique is our pretzel bites we ordered as an appetizer came out 10 minutes after our meals. We still ate them and they were delicious. I look forward to going to eat here again.

They brought out chips and salsa right off and the salsa was flavorful and even had a little bite. The chips were warm and crisp. They had so many things i wanted to try but i ordered the Hawaiian fajitas and hubs had the Diego burrito. When I saw the food I wished we had brought a cooler and that I hadn't eaten so many of those chips! The fajitas were served in a pineapple and had steak and chicken and chorizo. I asked for no shrimp. The flavors were so good! I loved the mango salsa and could eat that right out of the container! The rice and beans were yummy too! I had barely started on the inside of the pineapple and I was stuffed! Somehow hubs managed to eat his entire burrito. Next time definitely will bring a cooler and take home what I cant finish. I also ordered a virgin pineapple coconut margarita. It was probably the only thing I didn't love but it was very good. I think I just prefer it with the alcohol. Looking at the desserts I was wishing I had some space but I literally could not eat another bite. Highly recommend u try it out!

It was our first time at this…read morespecific spot despite being frequent customers at many of their other Massachusetts locations. To say the experience was beyond disappointing in an understatement. To be clear, this review is not about the food. As loyal customers who visit Tavern in the Square often we already know and enjoy the menu. The bartender was polite and pleasant throughout the interaction, despite overcharging for food and drinks we did not order. However, the situation overall was extremely uncomfortable and disappointing. We ordered one beer and a green tea shot and before we even finished the drink we were abruptly told we were "cut off". This made absolutely no sense. We were not intoxicated and had barely even started our drinks. When we asked to speak with management the only explanation we were given was that they have had fights there before. That reasoning is COMPLETELY illogical what does that have to do with us as individuals? If that is truly their policy then why was not everyone else at the bar treated the same way? We tried multiple times speaking with the waitress and management to get a clear and consistent answer, but no one could provide one. The responses were vague inconsistent and frankly concerning. At that point we could not help but question whether we were being singled out unfairly. When we raised that concern the staff could not provide any reassurance or clarification they simply avoided the question. For context, we are loyal Tavern in the Square customers and have made over 80 reservations at various locations since January of this year. We have NEVER experienced anything like this before at any of the MA locations. This situation was embarrassing, confusing, and unacceptable. We will NEVER return to this location. Based on this experience we do not recommend this location to others given our concerns about fairness and how we were treated. I have reached out and expect a clear response from corporate explaining what happened here.

Reminds me of the good old days before Covid when restaurants weren't all closed by 9pm... Our waitress Jasmine was THE BEST - she was attentive, filled our waters without us ever having to ask, swapped out our silverware and cleaned off the table after appetizers and very pleasant to speak with. Additionally she gave us real suggestions for popular food items on the menu (not just the stereotypical suggestions that also happen to cost the most) and was a breath of fresh air to have a honest and friendly waitress after a long day. Management: we will be coming back because of her stellar service and most definitely will be requesting her if she's available. You have a rockstar employee! Ambiance: restaurant was nice, space was clean and the vibe was nice. We will be back
