I really did not think the food was worth the money at this place, even with the low prices. This is close to campus and maybe has a close place in people's hearts that attend the school but when I went it did not cut it for me. The place was very dirty - Dirty floors, sticky tables, and dirty menus. I thought maybe the food would be good to make up for the unappealing inside but I was wrong. I got some chili and sandwich and the chili really looked unappealing and not something I would eat. I get the prices are cheap here but the quality is really not great at this place. If you can avoid it - I would go somewhere else. read more

Best breakfast in Detroit! Argue with yo mama lol but seriously everything on there menu is good

Good burgers, good breakfasts, a big salad with a generous portion of chicken with blue cheese and cherries, and I really shouldn't be writing this as my mouth waters waiting on a pizza. Campus Restaurant is bright and inviting in a cool weird modernist looking mid-century building that also houses Circa and a convenience store under its giant curvy awning that looks like it should have a Disney monorail to go with it. Service is spot on. And I don't come down with terrible heartburn after eating here unlike I do at that greasepit Olympic down the way. Campus restaurant is everything Olympic is not the same way Circa is everything Lefty's is not. Maybe it's the odd Tommorowland of the Past building. Maybe it's just because Lefty's and Olympic suck so mightily. Anyways, Campus Restaurant = good grub. And I love the melty Salvador Dali clock they have up on the wall. read more

Wayne State mainstay for over 50 years this place a pleasant surprise. Saturday brunch for us started with a fantastic Gyro Greek Salad with Pink Greek dressing, order a large for sharing. Had the Monster Burger 2 half pound Burger Patties, Cheese and Bacon whoa what a great Burger full pound o Love little over 8 bucks mega deal. Great Double Damn Meat Gyro Sandwich along with Country Fried Steak n Eggs with hash browns n toast only 8 bucks. We love the ambience spotless clean big booths. Fast friendly service, met the owner Tony who bought July 17 the 1890 Circa Saloon next door, waiting on this place to be remodeled and open for a visit. This is one of my favorite place to eat around Wayne State Campus. They recently renovated and the place is clean and looks alot nicer then it used to . Me and my friends have breakfast/brunch/lunch here regularly every week. Breakfast is excellent, portion is huge and price is cheap! I can never finish an order of omelet or skillet. I also like their chili! All the waitress here are extremely friendly and very accommodating. read more

I eat here an average of 3 times per week. I work at WSU, less than a block away. Its fast, clean and they know my name. Angelique knows that I don't want a water, take my diet Coke in a to-go cup and probably want a bowl of chicken noodle, unless they have their chicken pot pie soup. Its a nice cheap no-frills lunch and I can sit there for an hour talking on my bluetooth without annoying anyone or getting rushed out even though my tab is only $5. The owner is also very friendly and genuinely wants his customers to be satisfied and happy. On days that they made more brownies than they should have, you'll often see him passing out freebies. I've eaten breakfast here as well as some of their other lunch options. It's pretty standard coney fare. I wouldn't recommend this as somewhere to seek out, but if you're in the area and looking for quick and familiar, this hits the spot. read more

Oh, Campus! My Campus! Such a reliable stand-by for WSU students and employees. You can always count on Campus to serve up a great breakfast plate and comfy, classic diner food. Nothing on their menu makes it to the "I can't live without" list, but their consistently average quality and overall friendly atmosphere keeps it a go-to for lunch and casual business meetings. Pro: The owners are wonderful and always check-in to make sure everything was up to par. Con: Their pitas and salads are almost obnoxiously huge. I can't even come close to finishing either one. I ordered their a few days ago for take-out during my hour lunch... big mistake. I work less than 10 minutes away (walking distance) and I honestly stayed in the place for 25 minutes. I ordered the chicken club sandwich and there was just so much going on. I COMPLETELY understand that it was the lunch rush but I don't think it should take 20 minutes to make a take-out sandwich. Finally when I get back at work (at 12:45), the sandwich isn't even that good. The chicken was burnt, not much Swiss cheese on it and it was just bland. If/when I go back... This is a nice coney island with great staff. The servers are all real hardworking and get to know you quickly if you are a regular. Daily specials are a great deal -- free drink and choice of many sides (my fave is their not-overly-dressed Cole Slaw) for the price of a sandwich. We ate at the Old Campus several times when we lived in Detroit (from late 2005 through mid-2008), as it was right around-the-corner from our apartment. Sometimes we also went there with another couple. The food was delicious, portions were plentiful, prices were reasonable and the service was good & friendly. The current owners are a very pleasant couple; he's the main cook and she's the main server. One of the servers had worked there for *30 years* as of mid-2006, and her sister had retired three years beforehand after working there for *27* years! The Old Campus is located on the campus of WSU (Wayne State University) and it's therefore very popular with professors & students. The *only* reason why we (and the other couple) stopped going there was because of the smoking situation (although there were technically separate "sections", there was no barrier dividing them and the smoke was very problematic). read more

The health department needs to get involved. I used to eat here often. But it got to be too gross. First, I went to add mayo to my sandwich (luckily I looked before eating it) and there was hair and fuzz stuck to my food! The second time, because I decided to give them a second chance (shame on me), I got a hamburger. And before biting into it, I noticed a huge dead cockroach under the lettuce. I was done after that. I never received an apology. And from what I hear, other people have had to same issue with finding bugs and hair in their food. The owner is awful. He's very rude. I've been coming here for years! Today a coworker and I went for lunch, she ordered the turkey burger. Luckily she didn't want the pickles because when she removed them she discovered a HUGE dead bug in the lettuce of her burger. No one apologized to use or even offered a discount! It would be 4 stars but the waitresses are horrible now! They just hired two young girls and their attitude makes me walk the extra 4 blocks to the diner across from WSU welcome center. First two time I came here everything was great, food was good. The third time I was disappointment and disgusted. I ordered a salad and chicken fingers and the chicken fingers were gross. They were chewy and hard to eat, either over cooked or old and been frozen for too long. I asked to send them back and the waitress offered to make a new batch, said sure. New batch came and they were exactly the same, ok now I know these were just bag quality, their feeding me back quality food. Returned those and requested to have them taken off my bill and the waitress agreed. 15 minutes later she came back with a new batch and said the cook used a different brand, would I want them. Figure oook sure, she's standing right here in front of me with cooked food I didn't asked for sure I'll eat it. They were better, probably a new bag. I went to pay for my bill and she gave me $2 less then what I expected with my change. I asked her why and she said because I ate some of the new chicken fingers she charged me for it. First of all, I told her after the second batch I didn't want anymore, she never said anything about charging for this new batch, it's not my fault they gave me bad food. Quick, convenient and low prices for some pretty decent food.

I know many people who have worked in recent years there, who tell me absolute horror stories, Not only are they extremely unprofessional, but also very dirty. Many times I heard of waitresses eating the food off of plates before they are served. There is also a huge bug problem. Bugs were always found in the ice and under the cubbards. ew. The owner is also a big problem, he puts on a front, but as soon as customers walk out the door he talks down on them. This place may have decent food...but when it comes down to it, its only a matter of time before someone gets seriously ill. read more

Went there for lunch today and it was busy. I had the cobb salad with their greek dressing which came with grilled pita. The salad was huge and very fresh. It had a large amount of sliced grilled chicken, one hard boiled egg cut in half, bacon, tomatoes, onions and cheese. The service was very good too. read more

Unfortunately my classmates and I frequented this place quite a bit due to its proximity to our building. I never liked the place, but the others kept coming until the fateful day they found 1) Mold in their ranch dressing, 2) Hair in their food, and 3) Egg shells in their salad. The service here is slow and, for whatever reason, all of their food tastes like a wet dog. Hot chocolate is yummy. Probably because it comes out of a machine. read more
