Mint House is located inside the Santander building so the lobby is kept clean & the staff are there 24/7, very secure. The one inconvenience would be the many elevators to get to our room. Our room may have been located above the restaurant so we could hear the noise at times. I also didn't get a confirmation email with the check in instructions so I had to call to receive it. Tip: No room service is provided or was provided during our stay so may want to keep that in mind or ask customer service on that. Customer Service: The staff are all friendly and helpful with answering questions prior to/after booking the reservation. The customer service staff via phone aren't always aligned to the location you are staying at so there are times where they need to check with someone else before providing a response; however, they got back to me pretty quickly. Location: The Mint House is located in downtown Dallas so most places are walkable on a nice day. Mint House is initally hard to spot if you are driving by though. Parking: $30/day. The parking lot is secure and connected to the building for easy & convenient access. I'd recommend to just pay for parking in the lot if you are staying here as it's more safe & convenient. Pros: -Nice, clean & modern place to stay -washer and dryer -full size fridge -stove -plates, bowls, utensils -dishwasher -nice gym -walkable location to places & restaurants -easy check in and check out -access to restaurants in the building Cons: -We had to take 3 elevators to get to our room from the parking garage (and vice versa). If going to our room from the lobby, we had to take 2 elevators. -no cribs/playpen provided -no bathtub (only shower avail) -no swimming pool -no ideal loading zone -keyfob provided only works for your apartment door & gym access (not the elevators -the building only has a ramp on one entrance so it isn't as stroller/wheelchair etc friendly to get in if you are walking in on the side without the ramp. -no secure lock box -not dog friendly -unlike hotels, there's no washrooms in the lounge areas or lobby to use I'd come back and stay here again. :)

I stayed in their smallest room, which literally was like a pod with a bedroom and an open bathroom set up. Everything was super clean, and the toilet even had a bidet while the there also was a monsoon showerhead. Check in was a breeze as you pay three days prior to your stay. Check-in is also at the bar right when you walk in. Yes there's a bar and they serve coffee all day too. It really is designed for the professional who is staying in Dallas for a short time or just a single person making a stop here. The bar was great because I would get takeout for dinner, sit have a drink to myself, take a beer upstairs and have my dinner in my room. It was quiet and peaceful and I really would stay here again. I also want to make a mention of the location. It's on Main Street and there's a few things that are pretty walkable. Deep Ellum isn't far, as well as the JFK memorial. I walked around a lot, and it was nice to discover what was around this hotel.

We realized their AC units are energy efficient, which is likely the reason for the issue as well as the overhead showered not getting past luke warm. Fine for the price, but wish there was more transparency on the lack of windows and more focus on the small details (like functional appliances and hot water) to enhance the quality of our stay.

The bed was comfortable and the front desk staff were friendly. Unfortunately, this hotel also had its drawbacks. The room was a bit on the small side and the colors were an homage to the 1980s. It had somewhat of a dingy feel to it and rocks might have been more comfortable than those pillows. The alarm clock/radio didn't work and the tub could use a good, thorough cleaning and application of fresh caulk. A decent place to stay, but there are likely better options in the area.

They gave us a room that they were trying to renovate but didn't finish. Common sense would say, give them another room. The room was tiny. The room smells like smoke. The bed was uncomfortable. The threshold between the rooms were gone and my 3 year old stubbed his toe. Floor tiles were not glued down. The bathroom door got locked shut (with no one inside, thankfully.) The TV had to be replaced 3 times. There was no phone. The carpet was dirty. The wall paint choice was ugly and poorly done. My 3 year old kept saying the toilet had "poo poo" on it, it was just chipped paint. The pluses were new key card locks on the the entry doors, new mini fridge, and a new microwave. Bring your own towels and pillows.

To my surprise it was an apartment for half the price of a hotel. Score! Now keep in mind, though this was found on a hotels.com, it was an apartment with all the amenities! 1bed 1 bath / living room / full kitchen and balcony. The kitchen was stocked with necessities (pots, plated, glasses, utensils etc) to make a meal. Score 2! Now get this! Stack washer and dryer! Even had pods for your wash if you didn't have any. The bed was a super comfortable Needle and Thread memory foam mattress with crisp and clean linens made by parachute. Score 3! Lastly the bathroom. It was basic but clean and stocked with super soft towels and tea tree shower gel and shampoo. Score 4! Now why just the four stars if I am making this sound so wonderful? Well... the site showed a pool. There was none as it was under construction. During my stay, there was construction legit right outside the bedroom window. This made sleeping in impossible. I would have been fine if the communication was made about those 2 issues. So NO SCORE FOR YOU! :) All in all it was a great stay and I totally recommend. I will definitely stay at The Guild in Dallas and other destination where available. Welp! Onto the next!

Normally you'd get an email the day before or the day of about how to get in once you get there. So no email/text. 10am the day of, I call like 5 times it gave me a phone number to text. I texted asking for the info also needed parking pass. Nothing no response. Now I have an 18year old freaking out. Thank God for Aloft hotel downtown Dallas that came through with a very spacious room and clean. Customer service was excellent with Aloft. I loved the experience from the other Guild last year, the whole thing about keyless and no contact, but next time I think I need humans. DO NOT Book " The Guild in Katy" uptown dallas. Still haven't heard from them. This was for 01/14. My daughter had a great party though. Thank God for "Plan Bs"

Floor 1 is a mix-up with Shakespeare, Alice in Wonderland, Poe, and Einstein. Floor 3 is Literature & Journalism (if you like old printing presses this may be your type). Floor 4 is the Music Floor (vintage audio). Floor 5 is Mid-Century Modern (1960s Dallas history). Floor 6 is "Dali" or Surrealism Floor. Floor 8 is Botanical & Nature (floral pops of color). Floor 9 is Pop Art (bold and graphic). Floor 10 is Cinematic History (Hollywood glamour). Floor 11 is The Tina Turner Tribute. Floor 12: Skyline / Skye Ballroom event level with massive floor-to-ceiling windows. We stayed in Floor 7, which is "Literary Noir" (drama and mystery). We had a broken, blinking Neon sign, a wobbly ceiling fan, broken blinds, matchbooks full of phone numbers, an unfinished manuscript, an ashtray full of cigarettes, and a dead body in the tub. Not really. But we did have a giant seven foot "desk lamp", a paintbrush and frame above our bed, and and a carpet made from Hamlet quotes in Room 704. Dining: Hamilton's is the main on-site restaurant and bar, with a host or hostess in the lobby smiling at us when we walked in. Taco Enzo and Kolache Korner are in the refurbished shipping containers in the massive parking lot. The lobby store is small and not cheap but it beats a vending machine, especially if you want an ice cream sandwich or fingernail clippers. The "South Beach" pool is saltwater, so it's softer on the skin, eyes, and hair and avoids red eyes, green hair, and pool smell. Location: Though the Cedars district is the industrial historic heart of the Dallas arts scene, it's a bit gritty and has *freeway noise*, with gentrification friction, being a patchwork of high-end luxury lofts sitting right next to dilapidated industrial warehouses, making it feel half vibrant but half abandoned. The Walkability Score is 73, thanks to massive railroad tracks, the I-30, current construction, and inconsistent sidewalks. Be warned this isn't a tree-lined, window-shopping destination like Uptown or Bishop. Finding food, a drink, and even a movie will be much easier than groceries or a pharmacy (though drugs is a different story). Service: Everyone was awesome, especially Precious, who was, like her name Precious. That explains why they don't hire Dicks.

The parking is $20 a night which is a crazy price, but there were always plenty of spaces. There is a lot of construction next door, so we could hear that going on during the day and proved for a quite terrible view from our hotel room - completely obstructed by a tree with the bits you can see through being just trucks. One evening our toddler pulled the plug for the lamp that is on the night stand and it pulled the entire outlet out which created a hot flash of fire and smoke - then live wires were exposed - this is crazy dangerous and very disturbing that a very small child was in such danger from merely unplugging something. We went down to the desk and they immediately said they'd send an engineer up and asked if we would like to change rooms. We said we'd see what the engineer said, he came up about 5 mins later and said everything needed to be replaced so I said to him we have to switch rooms as it was completely dangerous for anyone to be in the room with live wiring exposed. A minute or two after the engineer left the front desk called our room and told us to come downstairs to change rooms. We packed up, trucked everything downstairs and they switched our rooms to the room next door (which it would've been nice if they would have offered to help move our luggage or at least tell us to just move it one room over, not bring it all downstairs). The front desk was actually really passive and cold - I found the situation quite shocking and dangerous and they had basically nothing to say about it. I thought it would've been nice if they had said something to apologize for the inconvenience, to offer something in return. It is completely their fault for having faulty electrical equipment in their room and they just wanted us to move rooms and go away - I was just happy to move the room and not be near them since they were such bad vibes - I think other people would've felt disrespected by their behavior. (You must try the Espresso Martini). The Pièce de résistance is the 6th floor roof top bar with infinity pool. Our sheets were not fresh when we arrived. We had them changed. The coffee machine was broken but they made a pot from something.. This is not our scene. We think the whole place is out of order
