The woman who cut my son's hair was unbelievably rude. She did an okay job, but for someone who works with children, she seemed to lack compassion, communication skills, and basic customer service. At one point, she asked whether I wanted my son's hair to partially cover his ears or not. I politely responded, "What do you recommend?" Instead of offering any guidance, she simply repeated the question and said she needed an answer before cutting. The interaction felt very awkward and dismissive. What made the experience even more noticeable was that another stylist there was kind, friendly, and did a wonderful job with another child's haircut. The lady who cuts his hair is super skilled and FAST! She always makes him look super sharp, They have lollipops, a movie running in the background and also great car seats to sit and keep them occupied while they are having their hair cut. I took my daughter here for her first haircut, and we really liked the overall experience. We were able to walk in at 10am and she was able to get seated right away. They placed my daughter in a little police car. I love the atmosphere of all the toy cars. They even have boosters for little toddlers. I was able to describe the cut we wanted for my daughter. We go here when we are in the area to get my sons haircut. We have experienced several different ladies cutting his hair. My favorite (didn't catch her name) but she was pregnant and only working their part time. She was so gentle with him, using different razors to accommodate his feelings as I told her he doesn't like the buzzing noise etc. I haven't seen her for awhile so maybe she is on maternity. I don't normally like to call out a "business" without actually giving it a chance, but, this place and their supposed "experienced, caring, and friendly stylists" is far from the truth. They specifically say here on yelp in their info/bio: "Our apologies to all parents for any inconveniences during your visit. Knowing kiddies will cry, scream and painful for parents to watch during the hair cut. We ask parents to understand, relax and give us a chance to finish our job" So my question is, are these apologies in their bio made as way to try and sugar coat their actual nastiness? Rudeness? Lack of customer service? Inability to actually deal with CHILDREN? Or are they there to make it seem like they actually care? Or that they should actually be considered a reputable business? Because, I didn't experience this at all. I specifically asked my husband to inquire if they could see our child and after they agreed saying it would be a 10 minute wait, they ended up making us wait over 20 minutes. Once my husband was able to speak to the man who seems to do nothing but stand around, and explained that our son is special needs, they told us that they would change EXTRA for dealing with a "difficult" child. Excuse me? So, what happened to that "caring and friendly" attitude that this "business" claims to have? How about your stylists "relax" and give the kid a chance to show if they are "difficult" or not? How dare you, as a company catering to children whom are normally a little more anxious or scared, tell the parents of a child with special needs that they are "difficult" and request MORE money just because they are a CHILD with a little more fear or nerves. As a parent, we all know haircuts for kids are often daunting, and frustrating. It's stressful and even anxiety ridden for us adults. However, imagine what a child feels. I've worked customer service, I understand every customer isn't going to be easy, but, I would not request more because I can't understand each persons circumstances. The kids get whatever lollypop they want at the end (DUM DUMS!) and their prices are VERY competitive. After that last terrible experience, I will not be going back. I like to grow my son's hair out & have been getting it cut 1-2 times a year around his summer birthday. I found out about this place when I saw & loved my friend's son's haircut. I've been driving about 30 minutes just to get a haircut for the past 5 years. That's how much I loved this place....until I met Lin (That's what the name sounded like). I knew "how" I wanted my 5 y/o hair but didn't know exactly how to explain it. I'm still new to the boy cut terms & lingo. I showed her a picture of how I wanted the sides (fade, straight going up). The picture had long hair on top but I wanted the hair short. I only wanted a shorter version of the style I showed her. Being new to the boy haircut language, I would think that she should have been helpful in determining what I wanted. Instead, she was extremely pushy & I felt pressured. I regret not leaving when I felt pressured. The only reason I didn't is because I had driven so far with a toddler in tow, she had already started and his birthday party was in 2 days. I felt pressured bc she kept asking ME questions. My son has a long tail at the neck. He's been growing ur for 3 years. I asked her to please be careful not to cut it & to even it out bc the last stylist accidentally cut some. Lin used a comb to ask where she wanted me to cut around the tail. She talked fast & kept repeating impatiently, "Right here? Right here?" I told her the line (or parting?) was crooked. She said, "IT'S HARD TO MAKE IT STRAIGHT BC THE HAIR GOES DIFFERENT WAYS (or directions). Keep in mind this is towards the neck line. She adjusted the line 2-3 times before I finally said yes. She held the shaver right next to the tail with each pending approval waiting for me to agree. When I finally did, she instantly shaved above the tail. It still seems crooked; not too noticeable but I expected a professional cut. My son did not move when she shaved near his tail. So she proceeded to cut the top with scissors. I asked to make it shorter. She cut again. Still too long. I asked if maybe she can just use the shaver. She said, "Whatever you want." She shaved at 5, then 3 at my request. She looked shocked & said, "3? Are you sure?" I agreed. I watched her shave the rest of his head at #3. I was wondering where the fade was but the damage was done. Maybe I couldn't get a fade at #3? I didn't get a chance to find out. My son went in with a full head of hair approaching his shoulders. He left with a shaved head & a tail; a "sperm-cut" if you will. NOTE: Weeks after this visit, I learned from a male friend that what i want is a Medium fade, straight on the sides, 0-2 below & 5-7 on top. Finally learned what each word & number means. Came here on an early Saturday afternoon and there was only one family in front of me. I love that it wasn't overly crowded like another salon I usually take my son to. The lady that cut my son's hair worked quick and my son's hair looked great! I asked to just shorten it and have it neat and she delivered. Great fade and length afterwards. Prior, my son's hair was shaggy and grown out weird because I decided to cut his hair last. Only downside is that they only take cash. Strange since we're in post Covid and it's 2022 so be prepared to bring cash. Paid 30 total with tip. $25 a cut. I have a 4 year old son with Down Syndrome and I took him here specifically because I know it's not easy for anyone to cut his hair. The stylist did an average job but when I went to pay...David L. Told me that because my son wasn't listening and was uncooperative I had to pay an extra $10. Again my son is 4 years old with Down Syndrome this place says it specializes in kids cuts. I feel it was completely discriminatory for them to charge extra because he doesn't communicate. Come to find out my son was crying because the stylist ended up scratching and scraping the side of his neck while she was cutting his hair. Completely disappointed in how this company takes advantage of those with disabilities. The posted prices are what I expected to pay. Excellent place for a kids haircut! We took my 2.5 year old son here on a Sat morning for a haircut. There were a few people ahead of us but the waiting room with toys and movies were great My son is normally an easy going kid. Doesn't cry at the doctor's when getting shots. But for some reason, he is traumatized with haircuts and we knew going in, that this was not going to be easy So when it came time for his haircut, he went into fu blown panic mode and it took my wife and I to hold him in place. Despite his crying, screaming, and wriggling, the elderly woman cutting his hair maintained calm and managed to not cut or hurt him in anyway. His haircut came out fantastic! Called ahead for an appointment and had to wait only about 15 min before my son was seated since the hairdresser was finishing up with another child who was clearly not loving getting a haircut. Linda was the name of the hairdresser and she did AMAZING. She was incredibly kind. Moved quickly and precisely and adapted well to how much force my son could and couldn't take when lining him up, etc. Will be going in again for sure. Also I love all the kiddy distractions they have. The abundance of toys clearly aren't cleaned on a daily basis. But if you wash/sanitize your kid's hands after playing, you should be fine. read more
