My family, friends, and neighbors have had many great gatherings at Cannataro's. We have been 'regulars' since the restaurant opened. It was our usual place. It ended Mother's Day in a huge disappointment. Our small family decided to support our local small business community by ordering from Cannataro's during this Covid19 crisis. Proactively I phoned Saturday afternoon to see if I could 'preorder' for pick up Sunday afternoon. I spoke with the owner, Julie, who has given a second phone number to use if you aren't able to get through. She asked that I call an hour prior since the computer system was not set up to receive and keep orders for the next day. I thanked her and did just that! I called for 1 1/2 hours trying to get a live person to take our order. I tried the second number also, finally leaving my name and number on Julie's voicemail explaining that I couldn't get anyone to pick up for an extended period and that I wanted to place an order. I NEVER even received a callback acknowledging she had received my voice message. I believe she was busy. Good! That does not excuse choosing to not reply even a day later with an apology. We have decided that there are other restaurants that may not be as conveniently located, but are certainly more customer-friendly and appreciative of their patrons. We will be passing this information through our friends and family. Sad, very sad. read more

Been here a few times with my family and friends and this place is the spot! The food is good portions, high quality and very good prices! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a small mom and pop place to take their family or significant other. They are slightly understaffed but they work hard to make sure you are taken care of! read more

I'm so glad to have found this place. They have the best bruschetta and capellini pomodoro. We have a 30 minute drive to come here and it's very much worth it. Jonathon is the best waiter. He really doesn't forget anything and he's very attentive to his tables. The prices here are reasonable and it's just a nice homey atmosphere. Came in for a late lunch today and was in the mood for seafood. I had the salmon picatta which was recommended by our waitress Danny, along with the wedding soup. Both were excellent, had the tiramisu for desert which was also recommended and did not disappoint. Was very happy with the food and service today. Whilst in the car my brother his girlfriend and i were discussing where we should eat, they recommended Cannataro's they said it would be great. They told me their pasta was amazing, and i have to say, the food did not let me down, it was just as they described it! i even had A LOT left over! their food portion is satisfactory and beyond. They bring amazingly good bread with garlic butter! my only complaint would be the service, waitress seemed grumpy, and to be frank we hesitated a few times to ask for more bread and refills. Had a craving for some gnocchi and saw this was the only local place that served it. After looking at the reviews, we decidedly give it a shot since we had never been there before. Big mistake! When we first walked up, we saw the B on the window. Should have been our sign to walk away but decided to try it anyway. The gnocchi was thick and dense, and the meat sauce did no justice. I ate a few bites and the rest went in the trash. My friend got the sampler which was horrid as well. The chicken had a weird texture and was drenched in marinara sauce. The fettuccine alfredo was way too salty and the lasagna seemed to be the only thing pliable on the plate. Ordered a cannoli for desert which had a weird curdled/grainy texture which was sent back and the waitress had the audacity to ask if we've ever had a cannoli before because she didn't think we were telling the truth. The waitress was less than friendly and lacked providing any attention to us. She spent more time conversing with a friend who was at the table behind us. The icing on the cake - although my fault for not checking prior to leaving the restaurant, was that I was given a check that obviously wasn't ours. When I went back and looked at the prices, the check I received was higher than what ours should have been, but by less than $10. Thankfully I won't miss that $10 but definitely check your bill before leaving. Obviously, I won't be returning and I highly recommend you think twice before going. read more

I've been eating here for several years, and I've been disappointed with their customer service and cleanliness my last two visits. Last month we were seated in a booth and I had to brush the bread crumbs from the seat before my daughter and I could sit down. The table felt sticky as well. The hostess gave my daughter a dirty container of crayons to keep her occupied as we waited to order. The service was very slow considering the number of customers present at the time. I had to ask several times to get refills of our drinks and waited fifteen minutes to get our bill after asking our server. This week we got there before the rush and were seated in the back room near the restrooms. Not as clean as the front room. Once we were seated, we were ignored by the server working the back room. We were never acknowledged or offered drinks. The server that sat us down walked by us several times and seated other customers. She never came back to our table or advised us that our sever would be by to take our order. I finally had to call her over to tell her we were ready to order. She told me that she would let our server know. Shortly after, the same server that ignored us started tending to the customers that arrived 20 minutes after us. We won't be returning to this restaurant. The food is not worth the poor service. read more

I love their pasta it's to die for. I went here for my anniversary. First time got garlic bread for app. So flavor and the bread they're big portion. I love it then the pasta I got Alfredo chicken with bacon. It melt in my mouth with each bite. I would recommend this place to everyone read more

The only reason I'm giving one star is because the food is good here. If it weren't for the food, I would have never gone back. The customer service is HORRIBLE. The way they treat their catering customers really left me baffled. Tried calling in an order but the manager wasn't in so they said they'd call within 20 min to get a total from her. Never got a call back, so I called and they said the manager had left to deliver an order. I was close so I went to personally get a total for what I wanted to order. NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON GREETED ME. A girl just came by and said "Natalie will be here in 15 min." She couldn't even fake a smile and say hi? I decided to wait and after 10 min decided that being treated that way was not worth it. Instead I left and placed my catering order at Olive Garden. At least at Olive Garden they're great with their customers and plates, forks, knives, and spoons are included. Mind you, this has not been the only incident. It sure was the last one though. I will never be returning here. Good food only gets you so far, maybe you should learn how to treat your paying customers. read more

Let me start by saying, my comments below is not about the food, but is more about my personal experience with the owner, herself. I used to love this place. My family and I used to go here at least 3 times a month because we loved the food and it happens to be located very conveniently next to the comic book shop that my son and I get our weekly comic books from. The 3 times included picking up food to go after picking up our comics next door on Wednesdays. We also have taken our family and friends there for many occasions, including birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, mother's day, father's day...you get the point. Once a year, the 1st saturday in May is free comic book day where you can pick up free comic books from most comic book stores that participates and a sale throughout the comic book store. So my 4 yr old son and I got there at 10:30 am to line up in front (the comic book store opened up at 11) and were planning to go next door to Cannataro's for lunch afterwards. While we were waiting in line to enter the comic book store, the owner of the restaurant, angrily marches from the parking lot, to the line, with a HUGE scowl on her face and really rudely yells out, with her arms flailing all about, "YOU CANNOT BE STANDING IN FRONT OF MY RESTAURANT AND BLOCK THE DOORS....YOU ALL NEED TO LINE UP IN TO THE STREET, THAT WAY", pointing towards the FULL parking lot, with cars and trucks going by. I replied, "Let me get this straight, you want us to line up in the parking lot where cars can hit kids and block traffic???" She shot back, "I did not say that, now you are putting words in to my mouth". I replied back, "Last time I checked cars are driven on the street....and that's where you said for us to line up. Not sure how I am putting words in to your mouth". The owner just stormed in to her restaurant, muttering words (I am assuming some sort of obscene profanity) under her breath. The way I look at it, being the owner of the establishment, she should have handled it more professionally by one of 3 ways: 1 )If the line bothered her that much (by the way, it was not blocking the doors, the people in line were very kind to make sure the restaurant's patrons were able to get through, without difficulty) she should have gone and spoken to the owners of the comic book shop or should have worked something out ahead of time with the owners. She should have NOT ADDRESSED THE PEOPLE IN THE LINE. Both places have been there for years and she should have known better...it is not like it was a random sale or giveaway. 2) IF she HAD TO approach the people in the line she should have asked them NICELY, if there was any way they could leave a space where the doors are so her customers could go in and out..."you catch more bees with honey.." 3) Use free comic book day and the line to generate more business by handing out coupons or free samples of meatballs or something to that effect. Most of the people in line were teenagers/college students or parents like myself, with kids. Show me one kid that does not like spaghetti and meatballs or pizza. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A NO-BRAINER!!! This is the route I would have taken if I was her. After my altercation, I was so disgusted by her behavior, which was done in front of kids and seeing the owner's true colors, out of principal, I have decided never to step foot in her establishment. She will never see a penny of my hard earned money. I used to recommend this place to everyone I know that lived in and out of the area, and have immediatly stopped. I really don't care how far I will have to drive, but I am determined to find another Italian place, where the owner actually cares about people in general and has some kind of common sense and courtesy and serves better food. IF the owner ever reads this, a course in hospitality and etiquette would not hurt her one bit. read more

Ate a couple of bites than packed it up brought it home threw it in a sauce pan to simmer and added a tablespoon of corn starch to thicken up the sauce. The soup was good, bread was hard. Had they simmered it over medium heat to burn out the alcohol Add the chicken broth, heavy whipping cream, ground mustard, and garlic powder. Bring to a boil and reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes or until it starts to thicken. It would of been better than I'm sorry to say a pasta soup. read more

Blew me off. I sent them a few emails to order some Cannolis. They replied initially, but then neglected to follow-up. When I called, Julie C. (the name on the email) said she didn't know what I was talking about. When I tried to explain what I wanted (very politely), she blew me off and told me she would get back to me without even asking for my call back info. She just hung up. Very rude. :( I'm sorry but this was a miss. Ordered to go maybe not such a good idea to order take out Italian food. It was however one of the hottest days of the year... I did go after rush hour. My order wasn't taken over the phone properly what the girl relayed back to me wasn't what she gave the kitchen. Needless to say the Penne Pesto Pasta Primvera I ordered was with regular red sauce. She didn't even catch my soup order.. which was weird because she read it back to me over the phone. The Bruschetta was a ... 2 out of 10. No flavor and just no love. I ordered a LARGE dinner salad also and it was accompanied by two tiny little dressing containers.. not enough to enjoy a large salad. I did contact the restaurant and tell them what happened. I don't see what all the commotion is about. I didn't like the service, the waiter hardly paid attention to me. Plus, the food wasn't anything special. The minestrone soup was tiny, and it tasted like something you would get in a Chef Boyardee can. Also, my food was tasteless. I ordered the New York Steak with Pasta and Marinara sauce...and frankly if I knew what it was going to taste like, I would have gone to Denny's and ordered a steak there instead. WOW, not sure how anyone can like this place. Let me first start off by saying, when I was a kid I worked here. It was a different name, but looks the same. The same dusty fake vines hang from the old dropped ceilings. We started by first waiting about 10 minutes for the waitress to ask us if we wanted to order now. No, welcome can I get you something to drink, just do you want to order! I ordered a pizza and a soup. When the soup arrived I noticed it was so thick it could have been eaten with a fork. Not in a good way. I decided to pass, and left it untouched. My waitress, being so attentive to our needs said nothing about this. When my pizza came I quickly realized the tomato based soup and pizza had the same sauce. They must use the pizza sauce for pasta and soup base. That was a complete turn off. So ok, the pizza was a 6 out of 10. So it was ok if this was lunch. To be honest, I could have lived with the food, it was cheap and I was not expecting great stuff. Its what happen next that made me want to throw up all over the table...... We sat in a booth, towards the back only feet from the restrooms. Not too close or I would have said no. But if you had to use the restroom you would walk by our table. So.... The employee who was assigned the task of cleaning the restroom decided to walk by my table holding an old mop and dirty bucket AT TABLE HEIGHT..... It was within 5-10" from my pizza as she walked by. Yummmmm. Then she came back with two over filled trashcans from the bathroom also again at table height and again inches from our food as she took them to the kitchen.... yummmmmmmmmm Then to top all that off, her next pass back with some cleaning supplies, again held freakishly high at her chest level and again table height only inches from my food. She then cleaned out some other items and made the place smell like toilet bowl cleaner. I was so excited to feel like i was eating my dinner in a bathroom! The classiness of this place was overwhelming! So I am not sure who is more at fault, the staff, folks on Yelp that review this place as if it was really good, or myself for going. Came here a few months ago and was excited to try it out based on reviews. I'm a fan of Italian food and have been trying to find a small restuarant with authentic Italian food in our area, which is VERY hard to find. When we got here, I was very disappointed. I thought the menu items were "regular" entrees you could find at any generic Italian chain. I got the Salmon Picatta and my husband ordered lasagna. VERY rude waitress. I used to enjoy this place, we prefer a mom and pop type restaurant to chains any day. The food is good, but the waitresses (at least 2 of them) are horrible. They are rude, disrespectful and the only other word I can use to describe them is bitter old women. Try being nice to the clientele ladies. I wonder if the owner even realizes how her customers are treated. I might be back in a few months. Hopefully the staff will change. Just had the best birthday dinner with my Dad! Ask for Vanessa she's the sweetest! The garlic bread has crack in it it's so delicious and it's even better dipped in their creamy Italian dressing, get the salad with your entree, the mozzarella cheese is amazing and fresh!
