Whoa, the reviews about the extremely slow service were accurate. When we arrived at 3:30, it was completely lifeless. For some reason, it took us twenty minutes to get a seat and an additional twenty minutes to receive our server. There was nothing particularly noteworthy about the sauce, and the food was mediocre. The fries and hushpuppies were the only decent appetizers. They never checked in to refill our waters, and the potatoes in our seafood boil were cold. We also told them that we were there to celebrate a friend's birthday and they never showed up to bring him dessert. I will most definitely not be coming back.

6/20/26 Pier 88 Montclair, CA...My Ashley took me out here for an Amazing Father's Day dinner! We did the day b4 as the day of is too crowded everywhere! We ordered a $35 bag of sea food 88 at mild spice with shrimp and crab legs and potato, sausage, and corn came with it. We got 1 lb more of shrimp! We also ordered another 4 piece Catfish meal with their sweet potato waffle fries. All was so super yummy! What an incredible time here! Highly recommend!!!

The food tasted great came out fast has happy hour specials. The service could use a little help. They take long to come and get refills or check up on you went to the restroom and the restrooms were quite dirty. Looks like they don't clean them. The restaurant could use a little cleaning up. I'm afraid to see the kitchen if the outside looks dirty.

This place is awesome! Very cool layout they allow guest to sign their names on the walls and is very spacious place with a bar as well. The oysters taste so fresh and the boil itself was delicious. They give complimentary corn and potato in your boil bag. Flavio was a great server he was on top of everything. We were served right away and he kept coming by to check if we needed anything else. I will definitely be coming back to this place when I'm craving a seafood boil.

Craving crab tonight and headed to pier 88 for the first and boy was this a happy find! Got the pound in a bag crab with the 88 special seasoning medium spice and it was so delicious! Crab was cooked perfect. There was a corn on the cob and red potato in the bag. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Music a little loud for conversation but fun vibes. Parking was plentiful. Lots of seating. Be prepared to make a mess, wear the bib they give you, you'll thank me for saving your clothes. Bring a sharpie to sign your name on the wall. I will for sure be back!

Food was good when it came. Took awhile. There was good flavor to the overall boil. Not a fan of the alcohol beverage. More taste of water than actual alcohol. My waitress had a bit of a language barrier and was unable to explain the menu for me as a first timer. I wanted to know the specials and was not aware of what was popular or we'll liked. The environment is active. Lots of people having fun, laughing and having a good time. Pricey for groups as traditional 18% gratuity added whether you have a good server or not. That unfortunately, is why I didn't feel our server was very present because she knew she would get a nice tip. Overall, probably a one time trip for me.

This restaurant has a great spacious and open dining area with plenty of seating. There is an open bar and the do have mix drinks on their drink menu. I had there Famous Low Country Bowl which included 1/2 lb crab legs, 1/2 shrimps without their heads, 1 egg, 1/2 lb sausages, 1 corn on the cobb, and 1 potatoe with the house special seasoning. The crab legs were extremely small with very little meat. The shrimp were delicious seasoned well and large. The sausage were delicious as well. My brother had the lobster tail bag which includes shrimp, corn, potatoe, corn, and potatoe. The lobster tail was a baby small lobster tail. He had the garlic version of seasoning. I tasted his shrimp and corn the the garlic seasoning was good

My friends and I summarize this restaurant as being "great for apps and cocktails" and not the best for dinner. It's sort of in a tucked away location. I nearly walked into Gus's BBQ because I missed the sign pointing to the Whisper House entrance. Plenty of free street and structure parking in downtown Claremont since it's a college town. Servers were attentive and noticed when we needed refills and answered our questions.

They've got indoor and outdoor seating and they seemed a touch understaffed for being a beautiful day. It was also a Tuesday lunchtime so maybe they weren't expecting it to be as busy as it was. We were able to prove the menu before we got seated. And our super friendly server came out and we were able to order right away. They've got a lunch special. That is a small personal pizza with a salad and we each got that. Salads came out first and I had the arugula salad, which was absolutely phenomenal. 10 of 10 would eat this every single day. The arugula was peppery and it was well dressed in a lemon vinaigrette type sauce. I am a fan of just plain lemon on mine, but this was delicious. My husband got a union salad, which is their specialty I guess. It's got colored carrots and some beets and some shallots. I thought the dressing was bland and it certainly needed salt and pepper. We asked for both and didn't get either. Our pieces came out and they were nice and woodfired. I feel like they could've been done just a little bit longer maybe a minute or two. The sauce was a lovely fresh type crushed tomato sauce. The cheese was nice and gooey and did not feel or taste like a package of processed cheese. Pepperonis were greasy, but in a real meat kind of way. I had to dab mine, but my husband just went to town on his. The pickled peppers is a pickled jalapeño. Big chunks of them. They certainly didn't skimp on any of the toppings. They were a little sweet and a little hot. Some of the big chunks were a little too sweet for my liking but overall, it was a nice flavor mix Also from a size standpoint, I thought the salad and pizza were very adequate for lunch at around $20 price point I asked for salt and pepper again as well as a side of ranch. This time we did get the salt and pepper as well as cheese and crushed red pepper. But we didn't get the ranch until we were leaving. The server did apologize and said he thought someone else was bringing it out but I pretty much deducted a star because we asked for a couple different things that never came. Overall, the service was super friendly, the ambience was nice for an outdoor lunch thought. I thought the menu looked delicious and there were several things I would like to come back and try and I would go back again.

It was so underwhelming. 2 eggs cooked differently, one over hard, one over easy, 5-6 potato pieces and the steak was thin, overcooked, and appeared to be a cheap cut of meat. A New York cut would have been great. Wife mentioned norms has better steak and eggs. Called and spoke with a manager Stephanie, not looking for anything, but to express disappointment in the meal for the high price. She offered to mail a gift card for us and invited us back. Took all of my information and never received it. Thanks anyway. Don't think we'll be back.

But some shady charges or maybe we'll call it miscommunication just rubbed me the wrong way. I always order the mole chicken enchiladas and my wife (being vegetarian) asks for the same dish but if the enchiladas can be vegetable or cheese. Apparently this means a 8$ up charge? We've done this many times in the past and always been charged the same price for both. I asked the server at the end "the veggie version is 8$ more expensive than chicken?" And he just shrugged and said yes. Just found it interesting that a meat dish would be 8$ less than a purely cheese/veggie dish. Especially since done this in the past with no issue. I also asked for "hot sauce" for my dish. They brought out a spicier house salsa as the hot sauce...totally understandable and the salsa here is usually free. Apparently it's a 4$ "chipotle sauce" that the waiter did not inform me would be charged. I would've easily just said I want tapatio or no "hot sauce". I used maybe a teaspoon for 4$. I told the waiter this when we questioned the bill and he just shrugged. These may seem like small inconveniences but when they seem like they intentionally don't tell you the details and then when called out about it just kinda shrug it off, it was a disappointing end to an otherwise tasty dinner. We love it here and will certainly be back but it just sucks that I have to be extra cautious & skeptical when ordering from now on.
