I couldn't decide if this is 2 or 3 stars. I think this hotel is fine, but it's a little overpriced, all things considered. When I checked in the woman at the desk was incredibly nice and said I could park there early (it was 12pm and check in was 3pm, but I still had to pay for parking, which was 16 dollars). My room was ready, and they said I could check in early for an additional 30 dollars, but I decided to wait and visit the Aquarium, which was in walking distance. She said she would text me the room codes when it was check in time and I could just enter my room upon return, but I never got the codes and had to go back to the front desk anyway. It's essentially a motel, with a few upgrades. The outside of the hotel and the hallways look worn and rundown, but the inside of the room is a step up from the outside. The bed is nice and the rooms are clean (unlike the hallways). The microwave and fridge and coffeemaker, outlets on the nightstands, toiletries were all nice touches for what the hallway prepared me for. There were little problems. Netflix, the only app included on the smart tv, didn't work, and the front desk refused my request to change rooms with a working tv. It was a Monday night and I only saw one other person the whole time I was there. I'm sure they had another room available for me. He said it was an issue with Netflix or Roku and not their problem. The gentleman wasn't rude per se, but he didn't have ANY desire to fix my problem. The cable tv had some channels available of the 49 listed, but some were not. The fire place made shocking, loud bangs, randomly. I had to leave it off. The fridge was super loud, and drowned out the sound of the waves. I almost unplugged it but I was afraid the ice would melt and cause a problem. And the tub stopper didn't match the drain. It's for an entirely different tub. So I couldn't take a bath. Not a big deal but very odd. None of these were huge issues for a one night stay, but would've been for me if I had wanted to stay any longer. While the hotel is affordable, with taxes and parking, it ends up feeling like you spent more than you should have. That being said the location is fantastic, and the lovely restaurant around the corner called Oystertown was a GREAT find.

    MOLD

Night time front deck has no idea how to do things. Very lost on answering any questions. Smells in room. Very very poor cleaning. Found MOLD and HAIR on EVERYTHING!

    The "partial ocean view"

WARNING they will not honor your booking reservation if you book through travelocity. I booked a king bed with partial ocean view. They gave me the cheaper room with 2 queens and Idk if they're misleading about the "partial" ocean view, but there's no ocean view at all from our room. When I showed the lady at the front desk the confirmation email stating the room we had booked, the lady at the front desk basically said it's not their problem because I booked through travelocity. It sounds like they encounter this problem often because of how quick they were to reach for that excuse. Also they told me that I booked "last minute", but I booked 18 hours in advance and their check-in doesn't begin until 3pm. It's an inn, not a luxury hotel. If it's too last minute for this business to accomodate, it shouldn't be available for purchase, and they need to work that out with Travelocity. The way they handled the mishap was rude and lacked hospitality. Spend your money elsewhere. There are nicer hotels in the same area that hover around the same price point. An entirely different issue is the deadbolt lock on the door to our room, and the lack of safety it provides. Attached are the pictures of the "partial ocean view" from our room, and the deadbolt lock of the door. Room 102 for reference.

Our view from room 215. Stunning.

What a marvelous way to start a new year ! We got a room at the Cannery Row Inn with a beautiful view . Room 215 actually . Allan and his staff really have it going on there . We will definitely be going back . This hotel is located just minutes from all of the stores on Cannery Row . Within walking distance . It is also situated just across the street from a little Park that has beachfront access. I want to thank everyone there for such a great job , perfectly clean rooms , and just a nice welcome place to stay .

We celebrated 25 year Anniversary here. Awesome Stay Great Location ....... Great nightly rate. It's a little outdated not bother to us. We walked everywhere parking is tricky on Cannery Row. Room was very very clean the bed was SO comfortable and 5 great pillows. We sat for hours on the balcony people watching. . Staff very accommodating and friendly. Pay the extra money and get the room with the partial view you can leave your sliding door open and listen to the waves all night. Amazing breakfast at The Wave Street Cafe. Stay Away from The Fish Hopper Restaurant. Cold food hubby was sick all night. Thank you Cannery Row for a special stay. We will be back!

Balcony outside room accessible through sliding door. No smoking.

Did not even provide toilet paper. Checked into our room, half a roll, and was not able to contact the front desk. They suck ass.

When we decided to extend our stay by an extra night, our harbor-view room wasn't available for the additional night, but they went out of their way to make it work so we didn't have to switch rooms. We really appreciated that! Parking was also very reasonably priced at $25, especially compared to other hotels in the area. The room itself was spacious, the bed was very comfortable (firm, just how we like it), and the harbor view was absolutely perfect. We were a little concerned after reading reviews about the sea lions being noisy, but we actually loved hearing them from the balcony! Once the balcony door was closed, we couldn't hear them at all, and they never disturbed our sleep. One of our favorite perks was the complimentary binoculars available to guests--they were a fun touch for watching the harbor. And don't miss the sunrise from the fourth-floor rooftop terrace--it's absolutely beautiful! There were just a few minor things that could be improved. The hotel only has one elevator, and it can be quite slow during busy times. We also wish the freshly baked cookies were available throughout the day. They were put out around 3:00 p.m., but they disappeared almost immediately because they were so popular. When we arrived, our room temperature was around 78°F. We called the front desk to ask about the A/C and were told someone would come up. Security arrived and explained that the hotel doesn't have air conditioning, so the options are to use the fan or open the balcony door. It would have been helpful if the front desk had shared that information when we called. We left the screened balcony door open while we were out the next day, and the room cooled down nicely. The only other thing we wished the room had was a microwave. Overall, these were very minor issues compared to everything we loved about our stay. The location, views, comfortable rooms, and outstanding customer service made for a wonderful experience.

This was our second time staying in Monterey and I had been looking forward to staying at this hotel someday. It was everything I imagined and more! The service was exceptional from the valet to the bellhop to registration and restaurant staff. We are also IHG elite members and we were given a room upgrade with a thoughtful card and gift for our anniversary. Our room was facing the ocean on Cannery Row with a balcony. It was a very nice, spacious and clean room with alot of thoughtful attention like providing refillable water bottles, robes and an amazing Nespresso machine. There was also a wine bar and snacks available for purchase. The hotel had a wonderful scent throughout and we enjoyed walking through the ocean vibes staircase featuring a jellyfish. Definitely look for that! We loved having our anniversary dinner at The C Restaurant, but that will be another well earned review on it's own. However, we did have two negative experiences, one was that we waited a bit too long for our car at the valet once and there was an accidental spa charge on our receipt when checking out. I still gave them 5 stars because they rectified it right away and even removed the valet charge for us, which was much appreciated. I would love to come back to this hotel someday to bring my parents and we hope you love it too!!

The hotel itself is beautiful, and the ocean views from our room were a huge highlight. The room was very clean and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed and more. The fireplace, tub, and private deck really elevated the whole experience. It was also great having a spa and restaurant right on site, adding even more convenience and relaxation to our stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a warm charm that made it easy to relax after a day of exploring the city. One of the highlights of our stay was how the hotel carried such a unique atmosphere and history. It wasn't just a place to sleep--it felt like part of the adventure. Between the ocean views, cozy spaces, and local touches, it really captured the spirit of Monterrey. And then there were the ghost stories. Whether you're a believer or just love a good tale, they add an extra layer of fun and mystery to the stay. If you're someone that believes (or not), go to the front desk and ask for the "book". It had 78 pages of first hand accounts of unexplained happenings from guests. We had a very small moment ourselves, while I was sharing what I uncovered about the ghosts with my significant other in the morning, suddenly the bathroom light just turned on. Nobody was around and they do run on sensors. Not a significant event but certainly was well timed. Overall, Hotel Del Monte struck the perfect balance between comfort, history, and a touch of playful spookiness. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Monterrey that has access to a military installation--especially if you're looking for more than just a hotel, but a memorable experience.

The interior is also gorgeous, and it's amazing how well they've kept up the history of this place. We stayed in a queen suite, which was very outdated. Because of how old the buildings are, there is no A/C, which is typically fine, but we happened to be there on one of the warmest days of the year. Our room had an odd smell to it, and the amenities are pretty minimal. However, we expected this due to the age of the building. Our only negative was that we were given the first room next to the entrance and stairwell, which was not fun to hear folks stomping up and down the stairs and slamming the doors. On Friday morning, several people we knew were awoken by the "active shooter drill" announcement at 8:00am. I understand this will happen on a naval academy base, but I wish we were warned about upon check-in just so we were aware and not startled in the morning.
