Amazing rooftop views right over the ocean. Perfect sunset spot with great sushi and strong cocktails. Vibe is lively but still chill. Definitely a must-visit in Mission Beach. Check out my video: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8p54EDN/

This is a rooftop restaurant right on the boardwalk. It is completely outdoors but with lots of shades. Majority of seatings has a good view of the sunset. The menu is limited. Service was good. Chicken karaage was good. California roll- came with plenty ginger and Wasabi. Edamame- solid. The pork belly bao buns were non traditional but it was the best non traditional version that I have ever had. Overall a good experience with a great sunset.

Love the views & live music. My favorite Sushi roll, Red Dragon. Definitely spicy! Like whew! Book a reservation it gets busy.

    Cannonball definitely missed the boat

Valentine's dinner at Cannonball set us back about $300, and unfortunately the experience didn't match the price tag. The presentation was impressive -- yes, it came out on a boat. But once you get past the theatrics, you're left with sushi that just doesn't justify the premium. The fish lacked freshness and depth of flavor, the rice wasn't dialed in, and several rolls felt more like they were built for Instagram than for taste. For what we paid, I expected precision and quality. Instead, it felt overpriced and underwhelming. I've genuinely had better sushi at places charging a fraction of the cost. The view is beautiful. The vibe is solid. But when you're charging top-tier prices, the food has to carry its weight -- and this visit simply didn't. At $300, this should've been memorable for the right reasons.

Beautiful views from here! This is on the top of their stairs.

This place is pretty nice! The menu could use a little help, one thing I look forward to is the food menu when trying new spots and when the menu is one page, meaning one side, it's so womp womp. They also have seasonal things! If you look at past reviews you will see food they no longer have which is a bummer. I got the beef bulgogi, it was nicely cooked with a great char! So good! Reasons for the five stars, for me, it's more about the food and if the rest is good enough, I'm good too. One thing I did have an issue with is how long it took to get some water and a waiter at the table but besides that the service was good as well. I was expecting it to be a little nicer than it was. The glass surrounding the resultant upstairs really messes with the view! It's almost better to eat at one of the other places that feel more open. It might be there for safety.

Amazing atmosphere, amazing service, amazing food. You cannot beat the view this place offers and I am so glad we stopped here for lunch. Our server Chance was amazing. She was kind and attentive despite her being really busy. She was on top of everything. She made our drink and mocktail as well and they were amazing. We got the girl dinner and crispy rice burger. My fiancee absolutely loved the girl dinner concept and loved everything it came with. The oysters were fresh and the accompaniment really made it, absolutely delicious. The roll was also delicious. The crispy rice burger was absolutely bursting at the seems with lobster, crab, and tuna. I personally deconstructed it because it was too hard to eat as it but it was so filling! Each fish layer was a very different flavor and they all complimented each other so well. The mixed greens brought a nice little freshness too. Honestly we are extremely happy with the service, food, and views and cannot wait to come back.

Loved the view! Host staff was super friendly and accommodating. Food was good! Service was a little slow and they forgot some of our stuff but they went through a shift change while we were there.

Lychee martini, pizza port beer, salted edamame

I had an enjoyable time spending happy hour at Cannonball! This restaurant was open when I lived in Mission Beach, but I just never had the chance to go. We decided to go for happy hour and share a couple of drinks and appetizers. First of all, our waitress was so nice and present even though we were only ordering from the happy hour menu. (I have had servers in the past who acted annoyed that I was there for a discounted item). She even came over a minute before happy hour ended to make sure we didn't need anything else before it ended. For drinks we ordered a couple lychee martinis ($10 on HH) and a Pizza Port beer. They lychee martinis were surprisingly strong for how delicious they were. For food we split the salted edamame and salmon roll. The edamame was well cooked and I appreciated that they used flaky salt. It made the dish salty without any graininess. The salmon roll came with 6 pieces and was small but delicious. Our waitress recommended it and I would definitely get it again. Finally the views were spectacular! I was looking at the waves the entire time I was there. I imagine it get/ a little warm at this rooftop bar when the UV index is high, but around 4 it was perfect. There's shaded seating, but even in a sunnier spot it was really nice.

First time we were able to get a reservation and absolutely loved this place. The view of the beach from the deck is stunning and felt like a scene from a tropical paradise. Service was impeccable and left nothing to be desired. We tried several different sushi rolls as well as sashimi and it was some of the freshest seafood I've had in a while. The oysters were a perfect size and so flavorful. I can't say enough good things. Will definitely be back if I get a chance.

Always loved this place. Great spot for brunch, lunch, etc... good place for a ladies lunch, solo dining or a hot date. Wonderful spot if you're from out of town. Friendly service. Ambiance is an open air epic view of the ocean from pretty much every table. The sushi is fresh and they have other Californian type cuisine on the menu. The only thing I was taken aback by was their Lobster roll that my friends and I usually go for is nearly $40 now on the menu. It's absolutely delicious but come on!!! I'm not in Japan where I could rationalize $40 for a roll. That disappointed me the last time I went. Other than that the food and service are great!

Had such a great experience here. We were sat by the water in the shade. Gorgeous view of the beach. Staff were all sooo kind and helpful. They seem to enjoy what they do which is so refreshing. Parking was a bit of a hassle but we got lucky! Now for the important part: the food. The poke nachos were AMAZING. the pickled peppers and mango pair beautifully with the tuna poke. 10/10 recommend these. The red dragon and tokyo nights roll were absolutely divine. The tokyo nights i liked slightly more just because im not the biggest fan of cream cheese in my rolls (red dragon has cream cheese) but I still thoroughly enjoyed the red dragon as well. The only thing i truly wouldnt order again was the cucumber radish salad. It was rather flavorless. The dressing needs some serious revamping. But we made due with salt and extra dressing on the side. Overall had an amazing lunch with my mom here and i can imagine this spot would be perfect for date night -- sushi with a sunset!

Came by for lunch and loved the views and lunch menu items. My coworkers had a salmon bowl and a bulgogi bowl- both were delicious and good portion size. I ordered the yellowtail and sea bass hosomaki (6 pieces ea) and it was perfect!! Service was fine and employees were friendly.

    Dragon roll
    Shar M.

Fantastic rooftop experience and delicious sushi. I highly recommend catching a sunset at Cannonball after a long beach day. My favorite is the Dragon roll. Their eel sauce is perfection. Pro tip: Order the garlic edamame with the side of spicy sauce and dip it. Fantastic flavor! Just make sure you're not gonna be up in someone's face right afterwards lol so worth the garlic breath It's pretty easy to park with a huge parking lot right out front. It's connected to Belmont Park so you can ride some rides afterwards. It's a whole experience! Great bar and great staff too.

One Coke took about 10 minutes with most of them just walking around like chickens with their heads cut off. Nobody really seemed to have any kind of real direction and because they had a special for tacos, me and my date decided to split two yellowtail tacos, and two Carne Asada tacos. We both immediately looked at each other after tasting the yellow tail, which was not filleted properly and discussed an extremely fishy aftertaste, and not only that both tacos had absolutely no seasoning. None of the toppings either the only flavor came from their extremely hot salsa and I love spicy food, but if you can't, you're getting the nastiest most plain taco you could possibly purchase the only thing nice about that. Resturaunt was the view and I wish that I had checked the yelp reviews before coming here. It would've saved me the last two days in the bathroom and the extreme stomach aches that I've been having since then and I know it was their food because it was the only thing that I had eaten that day. I've reached out to this establishment about 80 times through call and not one time has somebody picked up the phone I've also reached out to them on Facebook and now I'm reaching out to them on Instagram and here I would like a full refund and I hope that this saves somebody else from getting food poisoning! These were the drinks that we got with our meal. It was the only thing that I took a picture of the tequila watermelon slushy tasted awful and even though they fucked up everything else, they knew how to pour a beer.‍

When we arrived, there was no line at all. Security was really nice, and we got in easily. There weren't many people inside around 10 PM, and I definitely feel like this bar is more of a "grab a drink, sit with your friends, and chat" type of spot. It's not a club or a dancing bar. We ordered a round of shots and a mixed tequila drink. It wasn't strong at all, but it was really delicious, and I genuinely enjoyed it. The server was also super nice, especially since our friend's mom kept ordering drinks and shots. He brought everything out quickly and with great service. I really loved the architecture and ambiance. It had a darker, cozy vibe, very much a small, deep-bar aesthetic.
