Moe's is one of our favorites when we visit San Diego. Mission Beach is our happy place and Moe's is a big part of that beach community. The cocktails, service and food is all really solid but my favorite thing is the old school feel of the design. It's dark, warm and has a nostalgic Rat Pack vibe. We love the black and white photos throughout. Nothing better than meatball Mondays when they serve insanely good meatballs and homemade Bucatini pasta (pic 12). What better to accompany that deliciousness than some signature cocktails. Some of the fam loved the "Fields of Italy." (Pic 3) It's a fresh, crispy champagne cocktail made with vodka, Aperol, St. Germain, strawberry/basil jam, lemon and prosecco. It was perfect for a summer day. I had one of my favs that has been on the menu for a while now called "Party with Elvis." (Pic 5) It starts out like a boss with walnut-infused bourbon, Montenegro (Italian Amaro), tiki bitters, orange bitters and an orange garnish. It's exceptional!!! The last cocktail in the rotation was a traditional Manhattan that always goes perfect with a plate of Italian love (pic 13). It's always classic and the Moe's staff captures it perfectly with Basil Hayden bourbon, Antica sweet vermouth and angostura bitters. If you haven't been to Moe's, you should make the effort because they never disappoint. It's easy to find bright, fancy joints throughout San Diego, but they're an elevated old school gem that's hard to find. Excellent selection of spirits (Top Shelf)! Food was amazing. Steaks cooked to perfection. A bit on the pricy side, but worth it in my opinion. The duck was also cooked perfectly with a crispy seasoned skin that was spot on. We ordered the crispy mushrooms. Not what we expected but so good we ordered another dish with our dinner. We had the Basque Cheesecake and the Crème Brûlée. Both were outstanding. The restaurant itself has a rich mahogany feel and comfortable booths. I loved Moe's. We were staying nearby and eyed this place as a must visit, and were able to stop in after a lonnng day and had the best service from Caitlin. We enjoyed sitting in a booth in the bar area. Cocktails were a great start: martinis and old fashioneds. Up next was the salad: Caesar and wedge. Caesar was TOP NOTCH. For mains we enjoyed the filet with the best horseradish cream, Cacio e Pepe and Braised Beef Cheek Tortelloni. The flavor of the tortelloni was literally SOOO good. If I had to get only one thing, I'd recommend that. I'd go back here in a heart beat. Only downside was that they were out of baked potatoes. read more

Ambiance is drive bar vibes meets old school steakhouse vibes. Food was good. First course garlic knots we were not impressed with those, nothing too special just regular garlic knots & not good ones. Caesar's salad was amaaaaaazingggg very fresh & fishy tasting topped w dried prosciutto of some sort. Wagyu was very good, very rich a bit over salted but over all a nice dish. Potatoes were good they were definitely not a purée but we very yummy. Duck was interesting, my friend who ordered it enjoyed it very much but both agreed it was also over salted. Outstandingly disappointing experience. A complete waste of money- we will never go again. Steaks were cold, potions relatively small, service was basically nonexistent once we brought the cold steaks to the servers attention. They also seem to pre-cook their steaks and just warm them up. I would get that if it was a really super thick steak- most steakhouses cook them to order. Perhaps that's why the steaks were cold. They were just left out on a counter top. read more

Oh my god I am so sorry but this was the worst food I've had in a long time. The tuna crudo had the weirdest tasting spicy ?plum? sauce and prosciutto to try to complement it? There has been a steakhouse in this location since the 1950s however this Moe's version has been open since 2022. It's a classic old school steakhouse but to me it feels more like a bar that serves food vs a steakhouse. Our server was very polite and was probably the highlight of the meal to be honest. The food itself was just OK but I really did like the ambience and it was definitely a lively and very loud place to have dinner. Parking is very difficult in this part of town, we were lucky to find a street spot a few blocks away, however, you may have to walk some blocks so be prepared for that. Inside is pretty small and darkly lit and the first thing you'll notice when you enter is the giant bar. There are tables next to that and in the back. We sat near the bar so it was extremely loud during our meal. We could hardly hear each other at the table, although it was nice to hear everyone having a good time. I started off with a French Onion Soup, which was actually very nice. It was a bit too salty but the broiled cheese on top made up for it, and I would say it was my favorite dish of the night. After that, I followed up with the Filet Mignon and thought it was just OK. It was a bit dry and lacked any sort of seasoning and just didn't have a lot of flavor. It was not bad but far from what some of the other steakhouses in San Diego would serve. Overall Moe's would be a nice option for a date if you live close by, but I would not suggest to people driving far or to those visiting San Diego. There are better options around town. read more

Lorriane was an absolute gem--attentive without being intrusive, genuinely friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She made excellent recommendations, anticipated our needs, and even remembered small details from our initial conversation. It felt like we were being hosted by a close friend who genuinely wanted us to have the best time possible. And the food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The appetizer we started with was great, the charcuterie board. The steaks, sides and pasta were cooked to perfection!!! We came to celebrate my husbands birthday and he found this spot on our trip to Mission Beach. Our server Nick was AMAZING and recommended the best drinks and entrees for our special evening! They had a special not on the menu, mussels and sausage in white wine sauce, that was paired so nicely with my arrabbiata pasta and he recommended we add bacon to our potato purse which was fire. It was the best choice ever for our 75 birthday celebration for papa. Food- Nieto's (grandson #3- I had the linguini and clams, the clams and linguini were very garlicky, and toast on side was nice and crispy: nieto #8-i order the mixto diaspora it was delicious it had mussels,shrimp,and scallops it had a food taste to it I would recommend it: nieta #4- the seafood pasta noodly dish was great in flavor and had a chewy texture. The baked potato was a little over salted: nieto #6-the loaded baked potato is good and satiated my appetite #7 - Son #2 the aged duck and accoutrements were amazing and delicious, daughter in law #3 the calamari was Devine: nieta #1- had the 15oz ribeye and loved it, it had great flavor and a soft texture: nieta # 7- in my dish the New York steak 14oz it was a little bit to charcoal flavor for my taste, though over all the meat was a solid 8.5/10 I enjoyed the scenery of the place but the food was ok. Service- Toni our server was super, kind, attentive and patient with our group. The restaurant set up a table for 13 without reservations which was greatly appreciated. Took my family here and had an amazing experience from start to finish. We loved the atmosphere, and Gaza was such an attentive and welcoming server--truly made us feel taken care of. The entire staff was incredibly friendly, and the bartender made the perfect Ranch Water. We ordered the New York Strip with mashed potato purée and J1 sauce, and it was absolutely top-tier in both flavor and preparation. My family also tried the charcuterie board and loved it so much. The bar also has some very comfy seats. We had the steak skewers (comes with mashed potatoes), the olives with goat cheese and the sliders. I thought they were all tasty. I also had an old fashioned for $9. I wish they had a few more HH drink options but it was all good. The only con is parking is tough around here. read more

Everything we ate was cooked perfectly and flavors were on point The cacio e pepe is just unmatched by any other place I've tried at in SD. Definitely a reason we keep coming back. But they added this focaccia de recco bread service and HOLY SMOKES. We could have eaten 4 of these things. It was like a lil deep dish pizza but 10x better. And the fresh grated cheese on top just wonderful. Simply the best. No other way to say it. The wedge salad is honestly the best wedge I've ever had and the Gorgonzola is the beeeesst dressing. The steaks are (obviously) the best in PB/Mission Beach area (sorry to the haters that disagree) and the mashed potato puree? CMOOONN that's good. Hubby planned a date night at Moe's. The restaurant has a dine in side while the other side is more of a casual bar type setting. We had reservations for the restaurant side. Our server was super nice and attentive. Hubby had the dirty martini while I had the espresso martini. There are only a few places that actually make an espresso martini really good and this is one of them. I went for the lobster pasta while hubby had the duck , both dishes I would highly recommend . We tried the mushroom dish for our sides it was just ok. (Wouldn't order again) We also ordered a side of mac & cheese which was so delicious (definitely order again) Moe's is a great place for a date night or you can swing by the other side for drinks if you want a lowkey vibe type of night. I would most definitely come back our server decanted our wine upon arrival. We had a Negroni and a smoked old-fashioned. Both perfect. At the recommendation of the server, we had the Hamachi appetizer which was a special. It was absolutely incredible with a little bit of Chicharron and a light citrus cream sauce. Definitely not a very well made drink. Average at best. Our server seemed sweet but the service was very rushed and we didn't see her much through our dinner. We had the wedge and French onion soup to start. Both were ok. For dinner we had the short rib and a baked potato. The short rib had potential to be incredible. The meat was cooked perfectly but the risotto was so overly salted it was basically inedible. Whoever was on risotto needs to taste it before sending it out. I think the salt shaker was accidentally dumped into the pot. We were both very disappointed. To spend $170 and get a meal that is just average is a big bummer. read more

Moe's is in a lively beachside area. It is dimly lit with a big bar that attracts much of its attention. It qualifies as a steakhouse but is not up to par with other steakhouses as far as quality steaks. I did like their Focaccia bread which is stuffed with cheese and dazzled with homemade tomato sauce. The Focaccia bread was almost like a pizza. The crab cakes we ordered were just meh. Furthermore, I ordered a rare 18oz bone in USDA prime ribeye which came out as a disappointment. I didn't even come out rare. It was more on the medium side. Also, the quality of their "prime" steak was not there. The service and atmosphere is awesome but if you want a good steak, you might want to go elsewhere. read more
