Fried goat cheese salad with seared ahi tuna
    Kate F.

They are right by OB beach and do have a large outdoor seating area with views of the water. I got the fried goat cheese salad and added on seared ahi. I really enjoyed it and would get it again . The tuna was seared perfectly and the salad had a great combo of flavors and who doesn't love fried goat cheese. We got the candied bacon to start which came with three slices and we would have described it as closer to a pork belly than bacon. My friends liked the mac and cheese. The Mediterranean wrap and burger got so so reviews. Our service was a little slow but we were a table of 10 so that tends to happen when you have a large group. They are dog friendly

Pleasantly surprised with OB Surf Lodge. We got there as it opened since I'm an early riser. By 9:30 there was a line to get a seat. Great view from our table of the water. There was chill oldies music not blasting in our ears so easy to make conversation. My partner got the Dave's combo and I got the carnivore scramble. Both were delicious. The bacon was perfectly thick (make sure to ask for it crispy). My carnivore was perfect but huge. I will be going back to try the biscuits and gravy we got a jalapeño biscuit to try and it was good.

A must go to breakfast spot! Whenever my fiancé and I come to San Diego, this is top of the list of places to visit. There is free parking within a minute away of walking. Love that they are pet friendly and have a dog menu! The food portions are very generous. I love the break biscuit sandwich! Service is always great, very friendly and accommodating. The ocean view is to die for, definitely worth checking out. Still trying to figure out how they make all their coffee drinks so good...specifically the white chocolate mocha.

Surprise! GREAT VIBE! Randomly pulled up with some friends I used to work with for lunch, and the shenanigans they let us have here was absolutely perfect! Pup friendly! Staff is super friendly! Food here hits the spot! We're near the water, so i had to get some kind of seafood goin on the salad !!!One of the ladies helped my homegirls out with the menu while showing our pup some luv. Will definitely make this place a regular stop whenever I'm in the area!

I had a really great experience at OB Surf Lodge, especially because of the service and location. The service was amazing, and the staff made everything easy and welcoming from the moment we got there. The view is also a huge plus. Being right across from the beach made the whole experience even better. We had just gone surfing, and it was perfect that they were open early. We did not have to wait at all to be seated, which was a big win. They had a new special at the time, the protein pancake, so I decided to try it. In my opinion, it did taste like a typical protein pancake. It was still good, just not something I would personally order again. It was around twenty something dollars and a decent size, but it did not really fill us up before heading back out to surf. Overall, the service, location, and convenience really stood out. Next time, I would probably try something different on the menu, but it is still a great spot, especially if you are coming from the beach.

Such a great spot for brunch watching the ocean and people go by. The menu had something for everyone. The biscuit board was above expectations and definitely for more than 2 people to share. The drinks were creative and tasted great. The lobster Benedict was fresh and the hollandaise sauce was super fluffy which was a most welcome experience than the thick and heavy I usually get from a restaurant. Would definitely come back.

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday breakfast here today and loved every part of it. Our waitress Brooke was busy but made sure we were taken care of. The barista made our coffees quickly and they were so good!! The hostess was sweet enough to clear a spot for us to enjoy a view of the water. The food was great, we weren't expecting the BBQ flavor from the candied bacon but we enjoyed our entrees.

OB Surf Lodge is one of our favorite spots when we crave breakfast (Waterfront and Broken Yolk are the others). Four of us were looking forward to a great breakfast and we found it at the Surf Lodge. We rolled into OB Surf Lodge just after they opened. We found seats at the bar on "the hook". The lovely and super cool Natalie was our bartender/server. We started with drinks. Bloody Marys for our friends, a Calidad Lager for me and Becky was intrigued by the seasonal drink The Holly Berry. (Cutwater Vodka, Pama Pomegranate Liqueur, Rosemary Simple Syrup, Cranberry Juice). She asked Natalie about it. Natalie said it was brand new to the menu so she hadn't yet tried it, nor had she made one yet. So this was the first! It was a pretty drink, garnished with an entire Christmas tree (rosemary sprig). Bex loved it! Well done Natalie! For food our friends split the Chicken Fried Steak with over easy eggs. (8oz Skirt Steak, Cremini Mushroom Gravy or Sausage Gravy, Two Eggs (Any Style), Sourdough, Breakfast Potatoes). Bex and I followed suit, but with scrambled. The kitchen split both into two plates for us. (Sausage gravy was everyone's choice). I added a biscuit with sausage gravy. Everybody absolutely loved their food. It was all perfectly executed. The Surf Lodge housemade biscuits are the best I've had. They are huge! They are really dense and hold up to the gravy, yet they are not heavy. I devored the entire thing and did not go into a food coma. Natalie was fantastic. Breakfast was fantastic.

The location cannot be beat. The food was amazing. So filling. The waitresses were nice and attentive despite being super busy. I noticed all the windows and doors were open allowing for the breeze to come in but it does get cold because of it. It felt like a wind tunnel

I've been to this place a couple times and I'm always impressed by the food. These crab cakes were so big and delicious, I actually stuck my leftovers in an insulated bag with ice packs and drove them all the way back to Phoenix, AZ, so I could enjoy them. What makes them special for me is that there are big chunks of hearty bacon lardons that add saltiness and texture to the dish. They aren't in the crab cakes, but when paired with a bite of crab cake or the arugula salad, it's delicious. I also had a couple of their cocktail called The Pepino. It's a fresh, thirst-quenching drink with cucumber and gin. I highly recommend it. As you can see from the drink photo, you cannot beat the views at this place. There are inside seating options, but the patio overlooks Ocean Beach. It's great for people watching and enjoying a sunset. This particular trip, I did find the service to be lacking. It wasn't particularly busy when I visited, so unclear on why that was. My waiter was nice, but didn't come back and check in except once to refresh drinks, which was especially frustrating when my food came out before I'd been given silverware. It was excruciating to look at this beautiful meal and wait to eat it. I eventually had to get up and go find someone (not my waiter) to give me silverware. The person's tone and the expression on their face when I made this request seemed more like I was asking for my dish to be re-made instead of simply asking for a fork. But the food and drinks more than made up for the lackluster service.

Great food and an amazing ocean view made for a strong start. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the experience. Our waitress was friendly at first and gave good recommendations, but after that we were mostly ignored, which really took away from the visit. I'd definitely recommend the chilaquiles and breakfast burritos. I'd skip the coffee though, it was a bit too strong for my taste.

    The Break Biscuit Sandwich
    Tommy K.

There was a long line at the door but we were able to get seated right away. Our table looked out onto the ocean, so it's very hard to beat the view. The break biscuit sandwich is unbelievably large. I was starving and I could only eat half, and I consider myself an eater. Our server was very nice and the food came out quick. Very great spot to stop for breakfast on your morning walk.

A whole vibe. Absolutely perfect in this regard. I would myself go back for the vibe and ambiance. A few firepit tables, nice views. Service 5/5 Servers were warm, accommodating, so attentive from start to finish. Amazing service. Even from initially calling to coordinate - they were kind, helpful, set a custom menu and really was a fantastic experience. Food 2/5 ... maybe 3 for some *Beverages were fine *We ordered mainly the following: American breakfast: Eggs unseasoned, potatoes unseasoned, bacon burnt beyond edible, a few opened jams had mold in them Eggs Benedict: no complaints Fish n chips: Small portions overall, overly breaded, tiny fish portions. You have to request fries or these are served with chips. Chicken n waffles: Most people enjoyed but felt like a child sized portion. One said the waffles were incredibly sweet. Caesar salad: unsure Egg sandwich: fine I don't know if it was an off day because this was my first experience here but I feel like you pay for the vibe, food may be meh. Parking is free and plentiful. Overall a lovely party and was happy with the venue overall.

Trust and believe... it's a $4 shot, ain't gonna be some quality drank! However, it got the job done. The service was awesome! Our waiter was cool, he was attentive, didn't make us feel rushed, and did a good job servicing our table. Keep in mind, I had two kids that couldn't stay still. He handled it well. The food, was ok. We ordered the BBQ plater for two, a classic cheese burger, got the kids a cheese burger, and chicken tenders. The burgers were good! Good classic burger, seasoned well and came out hot. The fries were nice and crispy, could have used a little more salt, but I do like my fries extra salted, The chicken tenders... honestly... was the best dish that we had, it was the kids meal, but you know... I gotta pick at my kids food lol came out piping hot, well seasoned, great texture... and sauced down with their BBQ sauce... fire Now for the actual BBQ platter, I was disappointed in it... we got it with brisket, chicken, and tri-tip (we replaced the pulled pork for tri-tip, an $8 dollar upgrade). Our sides were Mexican corn, fries, & Mac n cheese. The proteins came out kinda cold, they had no smoke taste at all, tasted oven made, and not actual BBQ. The tri-tip was over cooked, and chewy to eat, it's a lean piece of meat, and is easy to over cook, I had to sauce the heck out of it. The brisket had a good texture, was under seasoned in my opinion (I like heavy pepper and salt on my brisket) but it didn't have any bark. I'm use to my bbq have a nice smoke ring and a good bark. The chicken was sauced, and was mid. The sides were aiiight. The Mac n cheese was the best side, the mexican corn was served in a cup, and was just ok. I'm use to Mexican corn being on the cob, rolled in mayo and cotija... with hot sauce! Messy and stuck in my grill. The BBQ sauce carried the whole dish... Overall it was a great experience! I would definitely return here for the vibes, burgers, and those bomb chicken tenders! Not for the bbq.
