    Tater tots
    Eva B.

Came here to watch the World Cup. I ordered a strawberry lemonade with a shot of vodka - the bartender elevated it for me and made it so delicious I couldn't detect the alcohol. It was apparent that there were only 3 servers (who were doubling as bartenders) serving the whole restaurant but they were doing such an amazing job still being really attentive and quick. There was a great vibe inside due to the games but the natural lighting and opulent decor create a very cute setting. My boyfriend and I were shocked at how crispy and fresh the tater tots were. We loved the wasabi based dipping sauce that came with them. Only thing we didn't love were the fake plants inside (there were a lot) - would've loved live plants but we understand that maintenance can be demanding.

It has been really warm, and I thought about eating at the beach. Called up Daveed and told him to meet me at Raglan since he lives close by. I love the four corners of Niagra and Bacon! Our first visit here was great. This time we sat a low table right near the corner, which I really like cause there's a fence around it and Cako can walk around and not bother anyone. A small child did keep coming over to say hi. I ordered the New Zealand meat pie made with beef and lamb. It was served warm which I liked cause I could just dive in! Next time I'll ask if I could get the matchstick fries instead. I also ordered calamari! So good! Daveed ordered the same thing he had last time, steak and chips. Said it was just like the first time. Consistency is the key! They also have a doggie menu. Cako ordered the chicken and rice with peas and carrots. She just woofed it down...LOL! The service is always friendly and upbeat! This is also a great place to watch people! Looking forward to my next visit! Cako still approves!

I've been craving for fish and chips and found out this place offers it and pairs with thick cut fires which is my favorite. I am not a fan of skinny fries. They don't have parking so only street parking. Not too crazy busy since we got seated right away. My boyfriend and I ordered the fish and chips and the queenstown burger i did ask all the condiments on the side. If you do want fries with your burger it would be $5-$6 depending what kinda cut of fries/ sweet potato fries you want. I think food was mediocre. Fish was not crispy it was kinda soggy and the batter didn't hold onto the fish well it was easily separated. I would prefer a regular white tartar sauce instead of a spiced tartar sauce. The burger was nothing special. It's good but not memorable. I did not like the bun since it seemed dry and hard. The patty was pretty thick and consistently cooked of how I requested which was medium. What I think was the best was their thick cut fries which I should've ask them to omit the Cajun seasoning (which comes with it) and their ketchup chutney. The service here was great though very attentive! Overall the food was mid and thick cut fries add on for 6$ was a bit too much. I had something similar to this called the queenstown pub and I definitely prefer the taste of the food there.

What is there not to say about this place? it's definitely an All-Star!! This months, new places with old friends brought us here. From the moment you walk up to this place, you're smiling and having a good time. Everything we had food wise was amazing. The table favorite overall was the corned beef Sando they have for St. Patrick's Day menu. The fish in the fish and chips tasted so fresh and flavorful. Just can not say 1 thing we'd change food, wise, staff, wise, or the place in general. This place is a vibe that will how are you coming back over and over.

Came with a friend who usually comes here for the mimosas after volleyball! It has a really cute ambiance outside with the chairs and a relaxed feeling. Service was really slow just for the two of us and another couple had to flag down the server for us in order for our order to be taken. The chilaquiles were pretty good but I wouldn't say they were the best I've had. The egg was really fluffy and perfectly poached, but the sauce seemed a little mellow or thin compared to traditional chilaquiles. My friend ordered the lemon basil spritz and it was extremely watered down and had absolutely no spritz involved, so she just exchanged it for a traditional mimosa. Overall, I would try this place again but I would definitely switch up my order

Always a delicious spot and love that it's right around the corner from me. Everything here is good, but you really can't beat the shoestring fries. Sooooo good. I tried the tequila drink from the specialty drink list and really enjoyed it as well.

We stopped in for lunch and let me tell you we ended up having the most relaxing and enjoyable meal! JC was our server and took great care of us. This is a New Zealand restaurant, which was new to me, but they seemed to have a great selection of New Zealand type food and American dishes. The vibe here is so chill. I love the music they have playing. We sat out on their patio, which was super comfortable, dog friendly (like most places in SD) and I really liked they had astroturfing beneath the tables. I was in sandals (just coming from the beach) and was able to kick them off and feel like I had my toes in the grass. Just added to the relaxing environment. I ordered the Miso Tasty chicken sandwich and it was amazing. I also loved the matchstick fries and different dipping sauces they served, especially the wasabi! My friend ordered the fish and chips and commented may have been the best ever, which is a bold statement, but it really did look delicious. I'd definitely return to Raglan and suggest you stop in, as well!

Love the ambiance. We started with the Vodka drink; it was okay, very strong and but not much flavor to it, it's suppose to be a strawberry flavor, so if your looking for a strong drink it does the trick. We got chicken skewers, calamari and 50/50 onion rings and fries. Chicken skewers had a yummy sauce but a little mushy. Other two apps were great and lots of different dipping sauces. Service was a little slow, took awhile to be greeted at the front door and at table. Server was very friendly though and bartender was quick with making drinks.

Came back for another burger and was disappointed. The bun this time was dry and crumbly. Not sure if it was different or if they just need to toast it better. The fries however were still great. I got the lamb burger this time which was good but I preferred the Queensland.

Stumbled upon Raglan because the place I originally planned to go to was closed. This was probably the better choice. Wasn't able to review on Yelp before going since I just walked in. Came late and it was not at all busy. Nice outdoor space. Very friendly waitress. But the food is amazing. The burger was great, but these fries are heavenly. Even the sauces that come with them. I ate my friends and my buddy's fries. They were delicious.

Ambiance is very nice and cute, with lots of TVs if you enjoy watching sports or shows. The lamp stickers are cool and give the place a fun vibe. We ordered the Wagyu smash burger with fries. The fries were thin and crispy, and both the burger and fries were very tasty, soft, and full of flavor. The calamari was OMG definitely my favorite! A great variety with jalapeños, perfectly crispy fried pieces, and a fresh salad-style mix. So good! Service was very nice and friendly. Pretty good experience overall. I would definitely come back again!

A rare rainy day in Ocean Beach left us feeling like we should go grab lunch. Raglan was toward the top of the list after checking other Yelp reviews. The restaurant/bar is very lively with music going and TVs showing surfing movies and soccer matches. The decor is pretty eclectic, mostly tied to rugby. Our server was fantastic, quick to take care of us and made sure the takeaway order we added on showed up at just the right time. We really enjoyed the food, too. The burger I had was perfectly cooked to my liking and my partner really liked her Cobb Salad. The habanero chicken sandwich that we brought home got rave reviews. And the tots were a super yummy huge portion. My only complaint would be that the Fatty Fries were a hit overseasoned for my tastes. They have a huge beer menu and lots of cocktails, too. It's a great spot!

I chose to come here for my birthday lunch this month and it was the smartest decision food wise I made. It was so mouthwatering delicious! I went with my family so like to order 3 different things on the menu and share them and that's once of my favorite things to do because you get to try every a little bit of everything. Everything was absolutely flavorful and so good! It was fresh and not greasy at all. It was made well and not overcooked. Our server was great! She was really nice and helpful. She let us know what the popular dishes were there and what she liked to get there. She answered all of our questions and took her time with us. The inside of the restaurant was really pretty. There was old newspaper as their wallpaper which was really cool and how they decorated was such a vibe. They also had a lot of out door seating with heating lamps too. This place was definitely a hit! I'm really happy I came here to celebrate my birthday lunch with my family!

There had to be at least 15 pickles on this bad boy. YUM! Onion rings were crispy and delicious. M. loved his burger and as usual, his only complaint was that he wished it was bigger. Haha. We enjoyed our food and the fun, kitschy Hodad's dining area. I feel like every time I come here, I spot something on the walls, or dangling from somewhere, that I haven't seen before. It's always a good time at Hodad's and it is certainly worth a visit if you haven't been here before. Keep in mind they do have a limited menu (burgers, chicken burgers, veggie burgers, fries, rings, shakes & some beverages and beers.) However, the table next to us ordered shakes and they looked hella good. Next time for us, for sure!! Mahalo!

Pros: I got the half-pound burger with fries and it was really good overall. The burger was super juicy, well-cooked, and had that classic hearty, satisfying taste you want from a solid burger spot. The portion size was generous, especially with the half-pound patty, and the fries were a great side to round out the meal. The location in Pacific Beach is also a big plus. It's in a great area with lots going on, so it's easy to grab food and walk around afterward or make it part of a beach day. The overall vibe of the spot feels casual and fitting for PB--nothing overly fancy, just good comfort food done right. Cons: Since it's in a busy beach area, parking and crowds can be a bit of a challenge depending on the time you go. It's more of a casual grab-and-go or quick dine-in spot, so don't expect a sit-down restaurant experience with a lot of space or quiet seating. During peak beach hours, it can also get pretty busy. Verdict: Overall, Rocky's Burgers is a great spot in Pacific Beach if you're craving a juicy, satisfying burger in a fun beachside area. The half-pound burger and fries hit the spot, and it's a solid choice for a casual meal before or after hanging out in PB.

It's always popping up as one of the best burgers in San Diego. The vibe in the place was cool. Bustling and music blasting. I look around for the menu. Not easy to find. I guess it's one of those "if you know you know" but then I saw a small chalkboard that listed the burger and a tiny printout pizza menu way in the back. I order a burger and coke. So pumped to try it. I ask for no onions and the guy at the register immediately cops a huge attitude like I ruined his day. He points at the chalkboard and says "no substitutions". I reply "no biggie! I can scrape em off or something" dude looks pissed and says "they're hard to scrape off" I know reading this I may sound unreasonable. Maybe dude was having a bad day. But the way he was looking and speaking to me made me want to walk away from the counter not bother ordering. If you are great at burgers but not customer service maybe stay off the register and stick to the grill. My friend with me goes "not very friendly for a place called the friendly" so it wasn't just me. The burger comes out. Honestly I'd bet on a good day it's great. But today it wasn't. Overly greasy. Ironically all of the onions slid right off so I'm not sure why he feels it would be too difficult for me to remove myself. The burger could barely stay in the bun it was so greasy. The aioli spread was all on one side of the burger and it was a mess. I'm not sure if maybe this place used to be great and since has declined, or if the staff was just having such an off day that it reflected in the effort of the food. Or if the guy just had some issue and felt like taking it out on us today. But needless to say. There's plenty of amazing smash burger places in San Diego. Excited to try somewhere else.
