I always have a great experience here, so when my family wanted to get some lunch near OB, this was my suggestion. All the food is good and can't beat the view. It's a good date spot if you can snag seat on the window, looking out at the ocean. Sometimes I time it for sunset. I haven't been here in awhile, but it looks like they had an interior designer give it a makeover, and it turned out super good. Very happy that they chose comfy chairs. I'm in my 40s, so it's appreciated as I get old. It was a Sunday and they had just sat two large parties, so they said it would be a 45min wait. Luckily we got 4 seats at the bar. Our bartender was super friendly and attentive, even though she was busy. There's a decent beer list and full bar, so everyone was happy. My go-to is the woco moco. I remember it being larger and needing to split it with a friend, which wasn't the case this time. Order your egg sunny side and fried rice. My brother got the chilicilas, half green, half red with carnitas. He loved it. My step dad is traditional and got the standard breakfast. The hash browns are the patties, like at Trader Joe's. He cleaned his plate. I use to always order wings. Not sure if they are still on the menu, but if you like wings, order them. Salt and pepper style. read more

Went for happy hour, even though I live close I also looked at this place as a tourist bar versus a local spot. Happy to admit, I was wrong. Great spot, amazing service, not the cheapest but it has incredible views of the ocean and what's left of the pier. Sit close to the windows facing west and take in all the action on the boardwalk, enjoy the music and the community feel. Parking is available on the street and there are hiden underground parking lots available as well, just follow the signs. Give it a shot and enjoy every minute of it. read more

Haven't been in a while, but had some friends in town and figured it's the perfect place to show off San Diego's sunset. They take reservations, and we got a nice table with a beautiful view. Enjoyed our cocktails and actually really enjoyed the ahi poke wrap which was huge and we probably could have shared between 2 of us. read more

What a pleasant surprise! Recommended by a local friend, we made our way to Ocean Beach. First, the views...second to none. Literally embodies California beach vibe. Located on the second floor and with wall to wall windows, it is a perfect ocean sunset viewing location. Someone saw our photos and thought they were AI! They are not, I assure you. Second, it is LOUD. It is a bar and grill, and we went on St. Patrick's Day. It was energetic and fun - not for quiet conversation. 'Boogie Wonderland!' ...a song by Earth Wind and Fire would be so cool if played every time you walked in here at Wonderland Ocean Pub but that's my wishful thinking lol The menu has typical selections that pairs well with a beachy cocktail or a chilled mug of beer, popular with local or tourist diners. Having been here several times, the cocktails, mocktails are fun to try. From the menu, the standouts: clam chowder, world famous chili, riblets, and the surf and turf burger with garlic prawns. Recent visit, we ordered the shareable killer nachos with added steak...the steak was great but the chips and toppings were not good, inedible :( Service needs improvement, as either they're understaffed or lack focus on being attentive. On our recent visit, it took a long time to get the food and even longer time to get the check to pay and leave. Once you do have the staffers attention though, they are super nice and apologetic, perhaps a little too late :/ This restaurant is on the second level accessible via stairs with no elevators, therefore not ADA compliant. My friend uses a walking cane and although he managed to walk up the 2 flights of stairs, it's still a challenge and definitely not easily accessible for the handicapped or if on wheelchairs :( After a day of leisurely walking in Ocean Beach Wonderland Ocean Pub is one of the places I like because of its elevated 2nd floor location, away from looky- loos, people walking by and oggle at you and your food. Went here during my 4th of July with a big group of 12 and they were able to accommodate our group. We got there early and sat at the bar to watch the US vs Belgium World Cup game. We did put in a reservation ahead of time and they let us know when our table was ready. We got a lot of drinks, appetizers and entrees and the service was incredible throughout. The clam chowder was sub-par. By far the best thing on the menu was the spicy lemon pepper chicken! Might be the best wings I've ever had! The surf and turf burger was both unique and delicious. I've never seen a burger with shrimp and hollandaise sauce on it but man, was it good. Since we were visiting, we kept seeing the skrewball on the menu, which is a shot of peanut butter whiskey that is frozen/in shake form. It was realllly good too! I have been in the past for breakfast however, and my pancakes were half raw....but I've had great experiences other than that. We came during happy hour and between the holiday crowd and limited parking, finding a spot was difficult and required a longer walk than expected. Once inside, we waited about 10 minutes to be seated and another 12 minutes before being waited on. Food came out in sections. The smashburger was disappointing -- the bun was dry and the burger tasted like it wasn't freshly cooked. The coconut chicken, however, was absolutely amazing and easily the highlight of our visit. The pretzel and beer cheese were average; the pretzels were dry and tough, likely kept in the warmer too long, and the sauce saved the dish. The biggest issue was the fries. We waited 45 minutes for them and they arrived at the end of our meal. While they appeared fresh-cut, most were soggy and overly greasy. The waiter did comp them, which was appreciated, but both my husband and I felt sick after eating them. Our waiter, Jeff, seemed all over the place and not very attentive, mostly blaming the kitchen staff without checking in the back for our order. I had to ask another waiter staff for our fries. The suggested 18%+ tip and a 3.99% card charge felt excessive for the level of service. The views and vibe are great, but overall the food and service need improvement. It was crispy with decent flavor, but nothing particularly memorable. Waited for cafateria food, stadium style loudness; outside of the waiter hyping up the crowd for a birthday and only positive thing was the HUGE drink I got. My partner selcted this place from here and we arrived 15 minuets early, 25 minuets later we were placed someplace in the middel of the floor and all I could here was the unusual amount of noie a fully packed crowd made. I ordered a double drink and 10 minues later I was given a to the brim heavy liquor drink, which I was greatful for in order to calm my nerves. I received a heavyly braded fish paddy from The lunch lady" in the back and potatoe slices freshly cut and fried; so I was told. This is a bar that serves food that is all I can say. read more

I love Wonderland mostly because of the view but also because you can get really good food and drinks with that view. The service is always on point. They're very kind and I always come during a weekday so I never have a wait. The food is always quick. I will say the last time I went the beer I got was flat so I don't know if I would say it's the highest quality beer, but their cocktails are always yummy. This last time I went I got the half sandwich soup combo and I got a BLT, which was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend bacon was really crispy and all of the vegetables were very fresh. The view is cute but only if you get specific tables. Host department is chaos. The girls looked overwhelmed or confused. When we asked the girl who wrote our name down to see how much longer for our table, she said that a new host was on the clock so the list was a new one and we had to sign up again .?! Very disappointing experience at Wonderland Pub today. We arrived around 5:45 p.m. and were greeted by two hostesses (a young white girl and young black girl). We requested a table for two and had our service dog with us. Initially, we were told we couldn't be seated because of the dog. After we explained that he is a service dog, we were told the wait would be about 30 minutes, even though the party immediately before us had just been quoted 5 minutes. We decided to wait near the entrance. During that time, we watched approximately 10 parties get seated before us, including several that did not appear to have reservations. After waiting nearly 30 minutes, I asked for an update. I was told it would be another 20 minutes and that everyone else had reservations because it was sunset. At that point, I had already been the next party on the waitlist for quite some time, so the explanation didn't make sense based on what we had observed. Feeling frustrated and believing we were being treated differently because we had a service dog, we decided to leave. Ironically, just after walking out, we received a text saying our table was ready. I understand that restaurants get busy, especially around sunset, and I'm happy to wait my turn when expectations are communicated honestly. However, this experience left me feeling that we were not treated fairly. I hope management reviews how service animal handlers are accommodated and ensures all guests are treated consistently and respectfully. read more

Great spot for drinks and a view! The entrance is a little confusing due to another restaurant sharing the downstairs patio in the building but they have a nice upstairs layout that has beautiful views of the beach. Our server Jason was awesome and made great recommendations. We ordered the Sauvignon Blanc and the fire dancer cocktail. The fire dancer is a blood orange margarita and is phenomenal. My wife order the Miso Ceasar salad and added catch of the day protein which ended up being sea bass. My wife really liked the lightly seasoned grilled fish which was moist and delicate. The fisherman stew was recommended by Jason so I ordered it and I was not disappointed. It had lots of seafood! Wild salmon, shrimp, scallops, calamari and mussels in a tomato broth and fresh bread. Fabulous drinks with attentive service and ocean views that can't be beat! We sat at the bar and were warmly welcomed by the bartenders who checked on us frequently during our stay. Our Spanish Gin & Tonics were spot-on and expertly crafted. Wonderland's atmosphere by the beach was exceedingly friendly and conversations with nearby patrons flowed freely and warmly. As an industry kid I always come back to places with staff who are fun and authentic. The views here really are the best in OB--sunset over the water, good people-watching, and that chill, friendly bar vibe that makes you want to stay for one more drink. Service was great too--super attentive without being overbearing. We shared the pretzels and steak nachos to start--both were solid, though nothing that totally wowed us. I ordered the woco loco, which I was really excited for, but it was way different from the original version I love. The flavors were bold, just not what I expected. On the kid front, the burger was a hit (my nephew crushed it), but the chicken tenders weren't what my niece was hoping for--more of a panko-style thing, and she wasn't into it. Tacos here are huge, but just a heads up--they're about $7-$9 each, so it adds up fast. Still, between the views, good service, and that easygoing OB energy, I'd definitely come back--probably just try something else off the menu next time. read more

We went with the house favs, OB burrito which was a breakfast burrito made with eggs, potatoes, beans, bacon, and sausage covered in sour cream and enchilada sauce. This is a very popular dish however mine was missing a few components and that's fine because what happened next was Italian French toast. This was, "get in my belly" good! So good, there are no photos! We cannot believe it was gone within minutes. Absolutely fantastic! I was also told that the bagel and locs were fabulous as well. The view, the food, the company, the service, all equal the perfect summer day! Of course we will be back, just look at our plate! I had an okay experience here. Almost left in the beginning since there was no host for a few minutes but then she came out and sat us right away. We got a nice spot by the window. I do think the view was nice and they keep the windows super clean. I ordered the clam chowder fries which are better as a shared appetizer for sure and not an entree. This was on me since it is supposed to be a shareable lol. I thought they were mostly cheese fries with a waft of clam. We also got the ceviche which was nicely flavored and tasted fresh. Though, we were expecting this to come out first and not all together. Drinks also came out quickly and were standard. It's moderately priced but the view makes it better. read more

Upon arrival, it was tad bit unorganized as we had people just walking in and sitting down but nonetheless was seated pretty quick in an optimal spot. Nachos with Steak was ordered and it was delicious. It's great that this place actually serves steak with the nachos as opposed to others where they serve it with ground beef. Came here to watch the sunset and it was perfect. The views of the ocean from inside are amazing, with big windows that open up so you can feel the breeze. It's a great date night spot, the vibe is relaxed and it seemed like mostly couples when we went. We definitely over ordered for two people but we were starving when we got there. We shared the sweet and spicy wings, clam chowder bread bowl, ahi tuna poke, surf and turf burger, and a sangria. The wings were saucy and delicious, the chowder was hearty and perfect for the cooler beach weather, and the poke was surprisingly fresh and ended up being my favorite. Service: Given how busy the restaurant was, service was attentive and fast. Ambiance: Definitely on the livelier side. The pub can run on the louder side but that's to be expected given the location.
