The venue offers a variety of seating options, including lounge-style sofas, high-top tables, bar seating, and even pool tables. The service was fantastic. Our bartender remembered our drink orders and actively checked in when our glasses were getting low to see if we wanted another round. They have a solid beer selection, a wide variety of liquors, and a drink menu available, although I didn't get a chance to check it out. Went here after we met Sarah in the wild! She was so sweet and funny! She made us the best tasting Almond Joy Martinis! I've only had a martini one other time and this one was so much better! Absolute BEST espresso martini I've ever had in my life. This little gem is located in the Ocean Beach area of San Diego. We stopped in to kill some time before going to old town for dinner. The bartender was extremely inviting and friendly and the place wasn't really packed yet as it was early afternoon. Ordered up a couple espresso martinis and we were immediately hooked. Went in around maybe 6:30 on a Friday, and it was fairly busy already. Took a booth. We weren't sure if a server came around or not - we thought we saw someone greet one of the other tables. After a few minutes, no one came over, so we went to the bar. No big deal, but it just wasn't clear. We went to 2 different bartenders for drinks. One was super friendly and made a beautiful drink for my friend. The other person seemed a little irritated, and mine wasn't as pretty (see picture). Overall though the drinks were good and reasonably priced. We would give it another try for sure now that we know what to expect. We went for karaoke on a Wednesday night which started at 9. It started off slow then there were a steady stream of singers who were pretty good and the song selection was mostly up to date but I'm from Hawaii so I didn't expect them to have local songs. But surprisingly they had one Josh Totofi song and a handful of Maoli songs (but that isn't really local songs any more now is it? ). I didn't get to try any martinis but stuck to her off tap because I need to drive back to the hotel later. And Josh the bartender was very attentive. Devyn the kdj was an awesome host as well & she can SING!!!!! There is a little stage w a good and loud system where the bar really gets into the songs w the singers. And the booths on the side of the wall, the middle high tables and the bar seating were arranged in just the right places so it wasn't crowded to walk through. So... What could possibly be more humiliating than a drunk dial... drunk text... or a drunk Facebooking? Drunk YELPING! Oh yes... it happened. and it happened to me thanks to Sooty (Like Booty), the Bartender at Tony's, and her trusty sidekick Dave, the Friendly Patron at the end of the bar! Here's my story: Just off our flight to San Diego from the Bay Area we found ourselves on a Ferry ride to Coronado Island where I had my 1st EVER Dirty ("Filthy") Martini. I loved it... and so? I had another. My girlfriends and I then headed back to SD on the Ferry and headed over to Ocean Beach to stick our toes in the sand. After finding parking right along Bacon Street (AMAZING) we hopped out of the car and headed toward the beach. But wait! $5 Martinis at Tony's - boasted a chalk board on the sidewalk teasing us as we tried to continue walking passed the open doorway. RrrrrrrrrrrrrrT! How can we turn down a $5 Martini?! In we went. Before our eyes even adjusted to the darkness we hear a voice from behind the bar. "Hi, girls! Sit wherever you like and Dave over there has offered to buy your 1st round!" Yah... you heard her!! "OK!" and we sat down at the bar. The bartender came over to introduce herself "My name's Sooty, just like Booty! Let me know whatcha want when you're ready" Martinis all around!!! Before I knew it I had finished my 1st drink at Tony's and found myself in a conversation with Sooty like Booty about my love and appreciation for Gin and my new found love of the DIRTY Martini. Sooty didn't hold back. She was telling me all about the different types of Gin and letting me sniff them and then customizing a new drink around my tastes.. The last thing I remember is thanking Dave "the friendly patron at the end of the bar" and going to the Juke Box with him to choose some good songs. I also have a fuzzy memory of taking some group photos with Dave and trying some other fun cocktails Sooty thought up while we were there. FADE TO BLACK The next morning as I woke with my head pounding I moved just slightly enough to feel the crunch in my hair. "uuuuhm... (groan) I threw up, didn't I?" I mustered up the energy to ask my friend next to me. "uh YAH YOU DID!" She said in a sarcastic and mildly annoyed tone. I got up to check out the damage... checked all the normal vitals: No vomit on my person... No random vomit in the bathroom... clothes are clean and accounted for... MY PHONE!? ohhhhh God my PHONE!!!! where was it?! oh... There it was plugged into the charger looking as innocent as ever. I checked outgoing texts... All good. No outgoing calls... ALL GOOD. Oh Crap! Work email?! Nope... All good. PHOTOS? There was 1 photo... It was of me... assumingly post throw up with eyes red and blood shot... and that truly embarrassing "drunk sexy/crying for help" look on my face... But it seemed I never texted it... so? ALLLLLLLLL GOOD! My Saturday was looking up! I let a week go by as I healed from my overkill of Dirty Martinis.. Those of which I may never be able to drink EVER again... Last Friday I decided I wanted to get on Yelp and write an awesome review for Tony's bar and I wanted to make sure to mention the AMAZING bartender I had met and made my BFF... As I was moving my mouse up to click "WRITE MY REVIEW" I notice a tiny thumbnail photo under the Tony's Photos that looked ODDLY FAMILIAR. I clicked on THAT thumbnail instead. ...and there it was. That DRUNK PHOTO I had found in my phone a week ago!!! Yep, you got it! The ONE I had been Soooooo relieved I hadnt texted of emailed it to anyone in my phone or even worse posted it on Facebook. Yes... there it was posted on YELP!!! If anyone had the rare experience of checking out what Tony's had to offer via Yelp last week - you may have seen that photo of me. If not? Well, THANK GOODNESS for the power of DELETING PHOTOS you have posted. I am mortified. In any case. Tony's ROCKS! Thanks to Sooty like Booty for making me some mean cocktails that I surely forgot!
