I was looking around for a 2nd opinion regarding our home ac. The first guy came out and charged $250 for coming then gave us a quote of $1500 to fix the issue. We decided to look for a 2nd opinion. I spoke with Javier over the phone asked him for another quote. Javier responded quickly and explained what it could be with the info I gave him over the phone. From the initial phone call to the finished product it has been smooth sailing the whole way. Called and requested for an assessment, they set schedule and technician arrived on time to find the issue. I needed to replace my condenser and they gave me options within 2 days on what models are available with pricing breakdown. They were patient with my 20 questions and gave direct answers. I requested a Saturday install and they arrived on time. What separates them from most companies is that they work really clean. I have a Bryant mini-split system. Unfortunately the unit in our family room started malfunctioning right in the middle of one of our heat waves. I contacted a bunch of companies but they were all (understandably) booked out for several days. Cano Air responded that they might be able to squeeze me in late in the day when one of the technicians finished up another job. I happily accepted. Gene came out and was able to take the unit completely apart to find the source of the issue, and got us back up in running in no-time. I had the original installation company come out to service the unit in the past, but they weren't as thorough as Gene was. You could tell he really is an expert. The main unit works perfectly now. I was so happy with the service that I scheduled a return visit for Gene to service the rest of our units. Sure enough, he came out again and provided the same great service. My whole system is now functioning like it's brand new again. I highly recommend Cano Air Conditioning & Heating. So much so that my sister is getting ready to purchase a new HVAC system. We are very happy with Cano Heating & Air Conditioning! We knew we had to get A/C installed before the summer so we shopped around and got a few quotes/in house estimates. Cano was the best. They came to our home and assessed the property. Javier deduced that a ductless mini split system would be the most efficient way to go about our project. That very same day he sent us a chart with our options laid out as "Good" "Better" and "Best". The quote had a breakdown of every part they would be using and how much it cost. A/C unit stopped working over the weekend and of course the business that install the unit went out of business. After going through all the review, I decided to go with a family owned business. I called first thing Monday morning and with a busy schedule, Javier's wife told me I'd be put on a floating schedule. Our air conditioning unit went out about a month ago. We reached out to a company to service the unit at which point we were told the compressor had burned out and we needed to replace the entire unit. I began reaching out to various other HVAC companies for quotes and also registered on HomeAdvisor requesting quotes. I had already scheduled three contractors when Rosario Cano contacted me asking if they could provide a quote. At first, I told her we had enough contractors scheduled to quote us. She explained how they were a family owned business, had all five star reviews on Yelp, and asked I consider them for at least providing a quote. Boy, am I glad we did! After receiving two other quotes both recommending replacement of the entire system to include the furnace and air handler, as well as relocating the system to the attic, I called Javier Cano and asked him to come by our home to provide a quote. We scheduled it for a Saturday afternoon and he showed up on time. Right away, I got a sense Javier was more than a salesperson. He was very personable and took a consultative approach. We walked through the entire system and he agreed the entire system needed to be changed. He went further, however, in recommending other items that made sense such as moving some vents for better coverage in rooms and zoning. After a few days we received Javier's quote with a good, better, and best option. His "Best"option was less than the other quotes we received and had a more lengthy and thorough Scope of Work. Not only that, the units he quoted were top of the line Trane units. Needless to say, it was a "no brained" to go with Cano. Moving on to the actual installation, Javier and his two sons (his installers) met me to kick off the project and review the Scope of Work on a Monday morning. They got to work right away and did as much as they could the first day as another contractor had to complete a portion of the work prior to them continuing. The job was supposed to take 3 days, however, there was an issue with the asbestos abatement contractor which Javier addressed right away. Nonetheless, his son's worked very hard each day in very hot conditions. One item that impressed me was how they thoroughly cleaned up after themselves each day. At the end of the job, Javier's son (Gene) reviewed all warranty paperwork with me and assisted me in registering the equipment for the extended warranty. We are extremely happy with the system that Cano installed. It is nice having a system that is quiet and cools the house nicely. Funny, I guess we didn't know what we were missing with the Old system. If you are looking for an honest contractor who delivers a high quality product and installation with a high level of customer service, I would recommend Cano Heating and Air. A tale of 2 companies: We purchased a home central air conditioning system about a year ago from a different company and the follow up service has been the worst. The system stopped cooling this summer and we have had all kinds of difficulty getting someone from the company to come out: missed appointments, late to appointments, all kinds of excuses, and an inability to fix a Freon leak in our system -- basically either total incompetence or an attitude that says they really don't care. Finally, after yet another no-show to an appointment on one of the hottest days of the year, we called Cano. It was Saturday and the receptionist, Rose, said she was booked until the following week but gave a referral to another company who might be able to come out earlier. I called the other company and left a message but started getting panicky about being stuck without AC in temperatures over 100 degrees. I called Rose back to see if perhaps she could have a tech come out after their shift to put some Freon in our unit as a stop-gap. Rose, bless her heart, said she would try and called us back to say that Javier would help us after his next job. Javier came out and tested our unit. He found and fixed the leak within an hour. Then he refilled our Freon and said he would take care of us if we had any other problems w/ it. That afternoon, the temps reached 113 degrees in East County and there was a fire burning near Alpine so we wouldn't have been able to even open the windows. I called 6 different HVAC companies and without looking at my home they all recommend a 5 ton system. I live in a two story 1800 square foot home with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Javier was able to engineer a 3.5 ton ducted mini split system with zone control for my home. The system Cano installed for my home is super efficient and very effective. I don't know how they were able to complete the job in 2 days but they did it and it looks super clean. Revising my original review 12/2/21. The communication issue was due to a medical emergency and the company claim that the web page was hacked ("Temporarily Closed until April 2022"!). When communication was reestablished, Javier, himself, came to check the thermostat and found what I had discovered, the thermostat was reading incorrectly. Our AC unit stopped working on a Sunday. right away I contacted our nice if she knew someone that I could call to have them come out to repair our unit. She refer me to Cano Heating and Air. She said they have used them in the past and so were all her in-laws and many of their friends. They all have been very satisfied with Cano's work, experience and knowledge. I called Cano, Rosario answer the phone and after a few minutes taking to her, she set me up to have Javier come out two days after. Javier came out, introduce himself, very courteous, polite and very professional. He asked what was wrong with the AC and after I explained the problem, he knew exactly what was wrong with the AC unit. He game the total cost to do the repairs and within 30 min. Javier had our AC up and running again. He recommendations we should have the entire unit cleaned while he was here and he would only charge us one half of the cost rather than having to return at a later date. He also checked our thermostat to make sure it was working properly. Javier is vey knowledgeable and made some other recommendation we should consider doing with our AC system in the near future. We had a great experience! This review is long overdue, but the fact that we still feel great about our experience with Javier and Cano Heating & Air Conditioning 4 months later says a lot! Let's rewind the way back machine to late Aug. of 2020 during one of the hottest weekends of the year! Early Sat. evening and the AC unit dies on us. Inside the house, the temps quickly climb up to the high 80s. The emergency here is that we had a large aquarium of tropical fish that need to be kept at between 75 and 80 degrees or they all die. Additionally, we also had a bunch of computer equipment that needed to stay cool. I called just about everybody and either no one was available or they could not come out until the next week. We were saved when I reached Cano's dispatcher! Given our emergency, Javier was going to make a special trip out the next day which was a Sunday and technically his day off! The dispatcher and I stayed in contact well past 9pm that night confirming schedules and texting back photos and serial numbers of the AC unit. Cano HVAC is a family business and on Sunday Javier showed up with his son, Nate, and they went to work on the AC unit. Turns out the capacitor had died. They replaced it and had the unit back up and running. They spent additional time inside the house checking the air temps from each of the vents. Good thing too because in the middle of that the unit shut down again. So apparently when the capacitor died it started to burn out the motor. They removed the old burnt out motor, but did not have an exact replacement in the van. Not wanting to leaving us hanging, Javier pulled out a back up motor that would fit, but it was a bit more powerful than the OEM unit. However this would get up back up and running and keep us going until he could order the exact replacement motor. Javier and Nate were friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, got right down to business, and very quick at diagnosing the problem. The big thing for us was that we had ice cold AC blowing in the house when they were done! A week later, Javier returned with the correct OEM motor and swapped it into our unit. The AC unit has been working great even months later. A big thank you to Cano Heating & Air Conditioning for saving us, our fish, and computer equipment! read more
