I have eaten at a Village Inn everytime I have visited Tallahassee. Food is good. Service is always friendly. Restaurant is always clean. Prices are reasonable. I do wish they just had a 2 egg special but we can't have everything. Breakfast is served all day, and that is my jam! I love that when you order coffee they bring a carafe...I find that I drink it faster than someone can refill it and it frees up the server from having to do coffee refills. It's more timely and I can pour 1/2 cups so it stays nice and hot. I opted for the VIB - basically it's a create your own combo. I opted for scrambled eggs, grits, fruit and French toast. The French toast was delicious. It didn't need any syrup and it wasn't gianormus. The grits weren't my favorite. Didn't know it would have a giant glob of butter, but I will know better next time. I just like it with a little salt. Eggs were hot and tasty. I am not always a fan of fruit salad but each fruit tasted like it should so it wasn't sitting with pineapple- which always over powers. The cantaloupe was PERFECT! It wasn't the texture of a potato - like so many fruit salads feel like! I downloaded the app and got $5 off my first order. So awesome! Please don't forget to TIP ON THE ORIGINAL BILL! Service was so good! She was friendly and helpful. Our server was taking care of a lot of table and still made me feel like I was the only customer. I had a concerning experience at this restaurant. The hostess used the handicap stall in the restroom but didn't wash her hands afterward. When I brought it up, she claimed she was in there because she doesn't like small spaces, even though she didn't use the bathroom. This was confusing and concerning, especially since I heard her use it. After I raised the issue, the waitress who had already given me the check before I finished ordering basically told me to leave. Despite all this, I still gave a 20% tip because I know how hard it is to survive these days. I'm sharing this here because it's important for management to address these hygiene and customer service issues. read more

The service is always friendly and the breakfast is always tasty. Like most places that serve breakfast in Tallahassee, they are busy during breakfast hours but, since they serve breakfast all day long, we usually come after the rush is over. I love the skillets and pies here. The ultimate skillet and chicken-fried steak skillet are my favorites. And the pecan pie is definitely worth a try. I usually get my food to go, though the diner ambiance is pleasant. The servers seem stretched a bit thin, so things can move a bit slow. When ordering to go, the app is user-friendly, and the rewards program is generous (though glitchy in the app). We've eaten at the other location many many times and tried this one for the first time. It's located in the parking lot of a hotel and very close the the governors square mall. They have a nice setup inside and we're doing a booming business for late breakfast on a Saturday when the weather was horrible. It automatically got extra points by having eggs benedict (a family favorite) and the fam also tried the chicken and waffles one. I had the avocado toast, which was delicious. Best pancakes in Tallahassee. I always remember liking the pancakes at this location so when I returned to Tallahassee, this was a must visit restaurant. I was not disappointed at all. There is a large selection of menu items to choose from. And I could have easily gone crazy on a big meal, but I suck with just the pancakes and 4 pieces of bacon. The bacon was just ok. As I had a good seat to see the food coming from the kitchen, everything looked very good. I would eat here often if I lived in the area. No pictures for this review. read more

Last night after attending our Christmas Concert at First Baptist Church, our group of nine walked in at 7:05 PM, not realizing they closed at 8:00PM. Nearing the end of a long and busy shift, Kristen welcomed us warmly and served our group with patience. She anticipated our needs and checked back frequently to be sure we were happy. The food came out quickly and was served hot and with a smile. We were very happy with the service of Kristen and the kitchen staff! Village Inn is a restaurant in Tallahassee serving traditional American cuisine and more importantly, they serve breakfast all day. It gives the vibes of a Denny's Restaurant in both looks and dishes offered. One of the food items that standout from the rest though, is their delicious pancakes. Though nothing fancy on their presentation, the simplicity of the pancakes and their great taste is what sets them apart. While the service was good and the waitress was very attentive to our needs, the food itself I found to contain too much butter for my taste. I asked for fried eggs over easy, but found them to be too undercooked, as the actual white part of the eggs were runny. The country friend steak was excellent though and very satisfying. The coffee was hot and our waitress kept them refilled which was a plus and added to the enjoyment of our meal. Overall, though a few tweaks might be needed to improve the presentation of the food and maybe a reduction on the amount of butter, the Village Inn is a good option when looking for a good breakfast spot in the city of Tallahassee. read more

Enjoyed breakfast with the family here this morning. It was surprisingly not busy so we were seated quickly. The host and our waitress were both friendly and accommodating. We had a toddler coming so they proactively offered appropriate accommodations. (LOVE it when customer service anticipates your needs!!!!!!!). Breakfast was reasonably priced and frankly - delicious! The wait time was short. Most of the meals ordered were Denver omelets, Nashville scrambler and Ultimate Skillet. I go here on a regular basis and I have to say Its a great place to eat. The place is clean and the food is always good so is the service but on a buisy day you may have to wait a while to get seated and served but most resturants in Tallahassee are that way. Came this morning for breakfast and I tried my hardest to give the staff grace. There were only 3 servers on duty's with a restaurant full of people. I called at 8:50 am before I came and no answer. I then came into the restaurant at 9:00 and waited for 15 minutes before a server would even acknowledge me. By the time I ordered my food (9:15 am) it was an hour before I got the food that I ordered. I had multiple orders and one of the orders asked for no mushrooms and light onions. The food was full of mushrooms and onions. The pancakes were darker than usual and taste burnt. I called the manager Darkia Williams at 10:30 to inform her of the error and she said "I'm not even going to lie, could you please call back around 11:30/12:00 so that I can handle your situation because right now I'll give you a bs answer. I'm busy right now so just call back." I called back at 12:49 because the phones were just ringing right at 12 so I had to wait a little. When Darkia answered she then claimed she had the cook and the wait staff listening to the call and that I was lying about my complaint. I informed her I have pictures and I have nothing to lie about she then began to over talk me and told me to call Kimberly Painter 850-766-2869 and it was a bogus number and the person who answered lied about their identity and hung up the phone. This is the most unprofessional experience I've ever had at the Magnolia location in Tallahassee. Disappointed and out of $52. read more

Four stars for the food, but the service soured our experience. This place gets really busy on Saturday mornings, but we were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. Service is pretty quick, but from the start the waitress didn't seem too friendly. From the check, I think her name was Taylor P. When you order coffee, they bring out a whole carafe to the table. The coffee was a little weak, though. I ordered the Country Eggs Benedict, and Trevor got the Country Fried Steak Combo. I'd never had country fried steak before, but theirs is very tasty. The hashbrowns were also seasoned beautifully. I asked for poached eggs for the eggs benedict, but one of them came out like a fried egg. Because it was topped with hot gravy, both eggs were overdone so I didn't get the runny egg experience. However, they were still delicious. The waitress kind of disappeared after she dropped off the check, at one point we thought she might've got off her shift. Another server took our check to her, then when she returned it she didn't say a word. She seemed like she had an attitude. I've worked as a waitress for years and try to be understanding if a server's having a bad day or is really busy, but her behavior rubbed us the wrong way. We were considering tipping nothing, which is something I never do at restaurants. Everyone else who worked there seemed really nice though. We decided to try out a new place for brunch this morning, and stopped by Village Inn. The hostess greeted us with a cheery hello upon entering and seated us a safe distance from other patrons. We noticed that everyone on staff in the restaurant was wearing mask. Big 5 stars for cleanliness! Grub: We loaded up some omelets and sides of fruit with Hollandaise sauce and it was absolutely delicious! If you're trying to do low carb or lots of carbs, there is a ton of options for everyone! Kuddos to the chef in the back for the delicious meal! Layla was our waitress and she was amazing! She had the best customer service, offered us different options with our breakfast, and made us feel right at home. Over all the breakfast places in town, this was our favorite! When you walk in this place looks clean. It has a nicer ambiance than other places like IHOP, dennys or Waffle House. We were seated immediately as we came after the usual Sunday morning crowd. I ordered eggs Benedict with extra crispy hash browns and my husband had the spinach and bacon omelette with a side of cheesy grits. The food was mediocre. There was no flavor or taste to my eggs Benedict. My husband's omelette tasted better. It also came with the same weird tasting hollandaise sauce that was on the eggs Benedict. The grits were good but they were cold. You do get a full pot of coffee which is nice. The one thing I did not like was that one of the managers (not sure her exact position) was sitting in the booth next to us in the middle of the restaurant. Servers would keep coming up to the booth and openly talk about complaints and customers. If you are going to sit in the restaurant to do whatever managerial duties need to be done... at least sit in the corner away from customers. read more

This particular store is probably the nicest Village Inn I've ever been too. I told my boyfriend as we sat down at the table looking around at all the fixtures that I felt like I was in the Jetsons where 50's meets contempoary. We visited the Sunday after the FSU homecoming game so it was really busy with families but since we were a table of 2 we didn't have to wait that long. Our servers name was Ashleigh (I think...I hope!) who was so bubbly and handled her section very well despite being slammed. We had put in our order - I ordered the California skillet and my bf ordered a bacon benedict. Our server kept our drinks filled and touched the table throughout the whole experience. I had ordered OJ and drank the whole glass and the server had noticed and dropped off a water to me without having to ask since they do not offer free refills. What wasn't the best was learning that my skillet was up and she was waiting for the other dish so until the food came I was just anxious worrying if my order was going to be lacking in freshness. I wouldn't order it again just because in the end I'm not as big of a hollandaise fan...there was a LOT on my plate almost drowning it. Kyla is always the most amazing server! Been going here for breakfast since my partner and I's first date last year. The country style skillet is my go-to and it's always filling and delicious. I've also been craving a good waffle for a few weeks and the Belgian Waffle was one of the most perfect waffles I've ever gotten in a restaurant in terms of texture, flavor, everything. After all - Today (9/19/2016) is opening day! Bonus for all of you TLH Village Inn aficionados - you'll recognize all of these folks at Magnolia Grove's VI as being either from the Parkway restaurant or the other one (by the I-10/Thomasville exchange). The layout is virtually identical to the other TLH restaurant - just better (largely because it's in our neighborhood ;)) Our server today knocked it outta the park. A former Parkway VI server, Alysa was cheerful and accommodating. I feel about the Village Inn much as I do the Waffle House. They're the Springsteen / Mellencamp of Gastro-Americana. They are the modern-day definers of diner-chic. Sure, they evoke substantially different dining experiences but I suspect their Venn diagram shows a tremendous overlap of enthusiasts. Part ole' school "Pop's Chocklit Shoppe", part modern-era casual dining family-chain restaurant - the Village Inn is where you'll find the haughtiest of "I-only-dine-at-independent-restaurants" as well at fastidious "I-only-eat-at-nationally-recognized,-publicly-traded,-broadline-food-distributor-partnered-restaurants" sitting down in the same dining area together. (Again, that's how I see it...). Ultimately, I will always favor TLH's locally owned breakfast/lunch places (think Canopy Road, Bada Bean, Woodchuck's, The Lunchbox, Uptown Cafe) but every so often I'll get a hankerin' for a VI or a WH, depending on the mood. So, I planned a Birthday Brunch at another establishment for about 20 guests. Well, my guest list grew from 18 to 35 people in lest than 24 hours. So I reached out Village Inn on Park Ave. Tallahassee, FL for seating accommodations. I spoke with a very, polite & helpful Skylar who took a message for Manager, John. I explained what I need & they made it happen. Not all 35 guests could make it since I had to change the time, but about 20 showed up. Our waitress, Sydney was cheerful, helpful, professional and served us like we were family! That was awesome!!! I went in based off the yelp reviews and not only was it a waste of time but a waste of money. I've been hear in the past and never been disappointed. I specifically asked the waitress if they still had the cheesy hash browns and if I could order just that and some pancakes, she said yes and what she brought me was a few hasbrowns with a slice of cheese on top. When she came back to the table I asked her if this was how it was supposed to come she said yes. My daughter said her pancakes tasted funny and barely ate them. But the kicker was when I go to pay for the food the cashier asked how was everything and I stated it left a lot to be desired and response was.....Ok..... a simple sorry about that would have been great. I love chicken fried steak and they have a skillet version of it. it came with eggs and diced potatoes. I had eggs over easy with buttered toast. it was a bit different because the steak was already cut into bite size pieces. it was juicy and delicious when you mix the egg yolk and the gravy with potato and the chicken fried steak. the new location is very nice and clean. everyone was very nice and kept asking if they can help, very customer service oriented. read more

My husband and I have never heard of Village Inn before. We're staying at the hotel next door and thought we'd give it a try. I ordered it with Forrest to be picked up. It was eggcellent! Not many breakfast places have brown gravy & theirs was to die for. My over medium eggs were perfectly cooked. I loved the pork sausage links. Good crispy hash browns. My husband said the bacon was great. We also really enjoyed the pancakes. The Togo packaging was easy to eat out of. We will definitely eat at a village inn again! read more

I truly enjoyed my experience. I hate I can't remember my servers name but she was amazing. Very knowledgeable regarding the menu. She was so friendly and welcoming I felt like I've known her forever. We had a party of 3 and when we arrived we were seated immediately. We arrived on Sunday around 10 but it became pretty busy pretty quick. I ordered an omelette with strawberry & banana toppings. Let's just appreciate the fact that they used fresh fruit. Like seriously fresh strawberries and bananas! I was in heaven. The French toast was great. This is best French toast I've ever had. I also ordered an omelette which came with veggies & a side of hash browns. The hash browns were cooked perfectly to a golden brown which was also hot and fresh. The only con I had would be the amount of oil that came from my omelette. I tried to order something a little on the healthier side but I wasn't prepared for that about of oil.
