Ultimate Skillet with pancakes, hashbrowns, eggs over easy & a side of 2 House-Made Sausage Patties
Michael B.

I love the skillets and pies here. The ultimate skillet and chicken-fried steak skillet are my favorites. And the pecan pie is definitely worth a try. I usually get my food to go, though the diner ambiance is pleasant. The servers seem stretched a bit thin, so things can move a bit slow. When ordering to go, the app is user-friendly, and the rewards program is generous (though glitchy in the app). Overall, a nice place to grab some breakfast so long as you're not in a hurry.

We've eaten at the other location many many times and tried this one for the first time. It's located in the parking lot of a hotel and very close the the governors square mall. They have a nice setup inside and we're doing a booming business for late breakfast on a Saturday when the weather was horrible. It automatically got extra points by having eggs benedict (a family favorite) and the fam also tried the chicken and waffles one. I had the avocado toast, which was delicious. Service was local and fantastic too.

Four stars for the food, but the service soured our experience. This place gets really busy on Saturday mornings, but we were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. Service is pretty quick, but from the start the waitress didn't seem too friendly. From the check, I think her name was Taylor P. When you order coffee, they bring out a whole carafe to the table. The coffee was a little weak, though. I ordered the Country Eggs Benedict, and Trevor got the Country Fried Steak Combo. I'd never had country fried steak before, but theirs is very tasty. The hashbrowns were also seasoned beautifully. I asked for poached eggs for the eggs benedict, but one of them came out like a fried egg. Because it was topped with hot gravy, both eggs were overdone so I didn't get the runny egg experience. However, they were still delicious. The waitress kind of disappeared after she dropped off the check, at one point we thought she might've got off her shift. Another server took our check to her, then when she returned it she didn't say a word. She seemed like she had an attitude. I've worked as a waitress for years and try to be understanding if a server's having a bad day or is really busy, but her behavior rubbed us the wrong way. We were considering tipping nothing, which is something I never do at restaurants. Everyone else who worked there seemed really nice though. I'd like to come back sometime to try their pies!

Eggs Benedict with extra crispy hash browns

When you walk in this place looks clean. It has a nicer ambiance than other places like IHOP, dennys or Waffle House. We were seated immediately as we came after the usual Sunday morning crowd. I ordered eggs Benedict with extra crispy hash browns and my husband had the spinach and bacon omelette with a side of cheesy grits. The food was mediocre. There was no flavor or taste to my eggs Benedict. My husband's omelette tasted better. It also came with the same weird tasting hollandaise sauce that was on the eggs Benedict. The grits were good but they were cold. You do get a full pot of coffee which is nice. The one thing I did not like was that one of the managers (not sure her exact position) was sitting in the booth next to us in the middle of the restaurant. Servers would keep coming up to the booth and openly talk about complaints and customers. If you are going to sit in the restaurant to do whatever managerial duties need to be done... at least sit in the corner away from customers.

There is indoor and outdoor seating and a small bar area. The bar had a few people there. We looked over the accesible menus and ordered a classic and a shroom with sweet potato fries to share and two drinks. We went off to get our drinks from the dispensing machine, hubby got an Arnold Palmer and I wanted a Diet Coke, but the machine only dispensed brownish looking water instead of soda. I opted for black tea with a splash of lemonade instead. We chose a booth to sit at and the wait was about 10 minutes to get our fries to come and 10 more minutes to get our burgers. The food was good and even though the size of the burgers seemed on the smaller side we were totally satisfied. The fries were the best of it all, scrumptious and delicious with a slightly spicy dipping sauce. The price tag for the meal was $50.00 with the tip, a bit pricey in our view. The place wasn't loud, but the music playing was really indescifrable like we read in the reviews. There was no rhyme and rhythm to it. Hopdoddy burger bar is a nice place to eat, we liked the food.

The restaurant was spotless, and the staff at the front counter were friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. I also loved the patriotic atmosphere. The American flags and the seals representing all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces were a great touch and made the place feel unique. I ordered the double cheeseburger with pickles, grilled onions, ketchup, and mustard. I skipped the lettuce and tomato because of the recent Cyclosporiasis outbreak, which was just a personal preference. I also got an order of fries and their diet cola. Everything came out hot, just the way I like it. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The fries, with their light breading, were crispy and just as impressive. While the meal was a little on the pricey side, the quality of the food made it worth every penny. Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be coming back. How can you tell if you are going to have a bad experience at a restaurant in the South?…read more There will be some signs I will share with you based on my recent visit to Big Randy's. Sign #1: Sweet tea brought to you is from a soda fountain and not fresh-brewed. Making fresh-brewed sweet tea does not cost much. The waitress admitted it to me. I cannot tell you how many times I have had an awful sweet tea from the tab and the the rest of the experience has gone downhill more times than stabilizing the sail. Sign #2: Buying ranch to go with your wings instead of at least being given an obligatory one. Wait...it gets worse...paying for a pre-packaged Ken's Ranch...not Ranch made in-house. Sign #3: BBQ sauce on your wings is Sweet Baby Ray's bought from the grocery store. That is what my wife received and I probably had Sweet Baby Ray's Gold on my overcooked wings. Sign #4: I haven't met many French fries I wouldn't eat but Big Randy's tested me. I couldn't eat them. They were like McDonald's fries except way too salty. My wife's fries had no salt. The only saving grace from a 1-star is at least they made my wings extra wet like I asked and the service was fine. That's how you earn a 2-star. Note: the fried pickles had more of a corn nugget batter and the floor was also very sticky.
