Fun looking place. Our server was very nice. The avocado toast was just average. My daughter got the cheese grits as a side and they were fantastic. Best part of the whole meal. Super cute breakfast spot. Loved all the decor and vibrant colors! The place was packed but we still got seated very quickly and our server was very friendly. I got the biscuits eggs and gravy with the potatoes instead of the grits and it hit the spot! The biscuits are definitely the star of the show. Wish I had gotten some to go lol. I'm impressed! This business just opened on Monday (today is Thursday), and I was able to come in and grab a seat immediately. I can tell the servers and staff are still finding their groove, but it didn't ruin the experience. The menu is a bit overwhelming, and because I was pressed for time, I opted for the breakfast burrito. It was delicious and absolutely loaded with ingredients! They did not skimp on the contents. As a self-proclaimed grits guru, I think they have some of the best chain-restaurant grits! The photo may not do it full justice, but please take my word! Service was okay - our waiter kinda disappeared midway through our meal. The food was fast and hot but not as it should be. Biscuit was so crumbly it could not be picked up to eat. The grits had the consistency of cream of white - not what grits should be. Also ordered eggs Benedict and the egg yolks were hard - very disappointing on a Benedict. Came in today for the first time to get a breakfast sandwich to go. The place wasn't very busy but I took over thirty minutes to get one breakfast sandwich. I asked the person who took my order why it was taking so long and they said there were other to go orders and she doesn't make the food she only takes the orders. Not a great attitude. I understand that there are other orders but it should not take over thirty minutes for one sandwich. She ended up going back there and making the sandwich but seemed annoyed. The food was just ok. It was slammed! I guess they had just opened. I sat at the counter since I was just one person by myself. The staff was really friendly and got to me right away. I ordered the avocado toast with a pineapple pico and egg, comes with fruit. It was good. The pineapple pico had a lot of onion, which I didn't eat as much of so I wouldn't be burping all day... and it didn't have a lot of pineapple... but maybe it was just the scoop I happened to get. OMG! Everything was simply delicious! I was thrilled to hear that this establishment was coming to Tallahassee. I had eaten at a Flying Biscuit in Atlanta several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Our visit to the Flying Biscuit here did not disappoint. There was a bit of a snafu regarding being on a wait list (I had inquired by calling the restaurant earlier and was specifically informed that they don't do reservations or wait lists, which was not true). In any case, though the line was out the door when we arrived, once I put our name on the list and informed the hostess that we were ok with outside dining (there were heaters in the area), we were seated within 10 minutes. The inside dining area is not super spacious, but quite adamant for a typical cafe-like feel. The outdoor dining area has about 7 or 8 tables, so it is a sufficient area. Our server was marvelous; very patient, very accommodating with our "asks." We certainly appreciated that she let us know up front that the kitchen staff was limited and it may be a while before our food arrived. We passed the time chit-chatting, so it was ok. From starting with the beignet donuts and Firecracker Shrimp to the various other entrees we ordered - all of which included the creamy grits - we enjoyed the food. My daughter, sister, and our family friend all enjoyed their mimosas as well! :-). Be prepared to wait to be seated, especially if dining inside; however, I can tell you, it is certainly worth the wait! Note, one of the servers we encountered didn't seem to be thrilled to be working (maybe she was having a bad day). Also, the chicken sausage patties seemed a bit "tough" (fried a bit too hard maybe), but were tasty nevertheless. All in all, we enjoyed our meals and will definitely plan to return. read more

The biscuits are all that!!! And the grits are even better. I am not usually a grits person but these have white cheddar cheese in them and they are super light. My husband had the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs on top and grits. I had the Florida Breakfast: two eggs two chicken sausage grits a biscuit and a waffle . Coming from someone who spent many years working in and opening another famous biscuit franchise...I was disappointed. I know what it takes to execute quality for this kind of menu. It's not complicated either. My meal was just okay. The potatoes were not crispy/fresh, could tell they were fried a while before they hit my plate and had sat in a window. They were not warm and barely dusted with their seasoning. Gravy wasn't hot, barely warm to be frank. My fried chicken was alright nothing special. The biscuits are basically the same quality as frozen canned biscuits (and I think I've honestly made better ones from a can). However my eggs were poached perfectly and the service was phenomenal! I thought the apple butter was tasty. Portion size was on point for price point but food quality/execution was not matching that price point in my opinion. I overheard servers telling people they were out of honey and vanilla simple syrup. Kind of wild to be out of both on a prime brunch day before 10am. This concept has been done by many and very few truly nail it. They haven't done anything special here to set them apart from the other biscuit chains. read more

Service was amazing. Our waiter was very attentive and kind despite the lunch hour rush. Unfortunately I fear this restaurant may end up getting a bad reputation for the quality in their food. It seemed to me staff was understaffed for the demand during 12-2pm rush. We ordered two different burgers and the buns were burnt and dry. I could tell the intention was for them to be nice a buttery but i believe the kitchen was swamped and understaffed. One of the burgers was supposed to have pickles and no onions but instead both burgers were so basic and poor tasting that I didn't finish mine. The meat tasted like it was freezer burnt. The fries were amazing though. Fresh and hot! The grits were absolutely amazing. I think the Flying biscuit needs to be careful to keep the restaurant staffed and well trained or they'll be another tlh restaurant shut down. The ambience was fun and they are dog friendly. This place was extremely disappointing. I had heard the biscuits were great but they were terrible. Service was some of the worst I've experienced in a while. The business was only about a quarter full when we got there on a Saturday morning, and we had to wait about five minutes for a hostess to show up to seat us. Once we were seated, the waitress didn't show up for at least 10 minutes. We were about to walk out when someone actually showed up. Her attitude was terrible. Although the food did come out quite quickly, the biscuits were dry, not fluffy as advertised, and I was disappointed. The bacon was so salty I couldn't even eat it, which is unusual since I love salty bacon. I don't recommend this place to anyone. Go down the street to Waffle House. It's way better. read more

We were traveling, and searched best food place off I10 in Tallahassee. This is where we went. Very good for breakfast, brunch. We got there about 2:45, restaurant closes at 4PM. Food was very good. Service lacked a little cheer. I saw more sad faces looking at customers than happy faces. We tried the chicken tenders and waffle. Did not try the biscuits, maybe next time. Management needs to work on keeping facilities clean. We complained the women's restroom, a wreck. We will try again next time passing thru. read more

We sent them back and had to wait longer. They brought it out incorrectly again. Management removed one of the meals from our tab. Both the food and hot drinks were cold. The chicken sage sausages were hard around the edges. My friend's biscuit was cold. My avocado toast was barely toasted, and the avocado "spread" tasted like nothing. I did not receive the fruit that was supposed to come with the avocado toast. You should include stevia sweetener on table for coffee. In addition I asked for cream but was brought only artificial creamers. I asked for actual half & half. Was brought but in a glass. So apparently that is not routinely available. Any coffee place in town has both Stevia and half-and-half for people who enjoy coffee. I ordered the breakfast burrito for some reason. It's served on a very narrow plate slightly bigger than the burrito which makes it actually difficult to eat without making a mess. It was very cool on the inside, so I said it back. They redid it for me and it was warmer, but then realized that they add cold pineapple pico de gallo to it so that there's still every once in a while a cold bite mixed in with your warm burrito, which is not a good thing. Won't order that again. The grits that came as a side were good. People at the table next to me also sent back their meal because it was too cold. This restaurant was a disappointment.
