This is my all time favorite place to come for breakfast. I especially like to come alone on a Sunday and guzzle coffee. They use lucky goat so of course it's good. I will forever stand by their skillets, the first 8 or so times I came here that's what I got. I promise I've branched out since then, but I always come back to the skillets. The Bebe is my favorite. For a while I was vegan, and when they season the vegan skillet right it's the BOMB. The key though is the seasoning, sometimes they've brought me mashed up plain tofu and I've had to ask for it to go back so they can sprinkle it with turmeric (which is surely not the same as when it's cooked in spices, s/o to my vegans who can relate). Cutest little brunch spot! My son and I decided to check it out one morning during the week. They had outdoor seating and it was perfect! Waitress and staff were super friendly! I ordered the Mickey Mouse pancake for my son with a side of bacon and eggs. For me I got the Italian avocado toast! Omg it was delicious, with the cheese,the tomato and balsamic . I also got a side of eggs and fruit. Overall our experience was great. They brought my son's food out first which I loved because I know he was hungry so that kept him occupied. I know that Canopy Road Cafe is a favorite for lots of people and it stays crowded, but I have always found it to be just okay. Perhaps I am ordering the wrong thing. Today I ordered the traditional French toast with a side of grits. The French toast looked and tasted dry. I slathered it with butter and syrup to help it out but where was that eggy goodness.? The grits had not one drop of seasoning. No salt? And there were all of these Black men cooking back there. Where was the salt brothers? Hahahahaha My friend ordered the veggie omelette and found it to be okay. The highlight of my trip was when our server, Brad brought out a complimentary birthday pancake when he found out it was my birthday! That pancake was sweet, diabetes on a plate and delicious! I thought that was a sweet gesture since they don't officially have birthday options. This place is so busy all the time so be prepared to wait a bit. We were sat at the bar, which is not my favorite, but it's a small place so it was still easy to talk to my whole party. Our server was great and, since we were sitting in front of the kitchen, everyone was friendly and helpful when we needed things. The biscuits and gravy were delicious and my sister loves their avocado toast. The coffee leaves something to be desired, but I am a total coffee snob so not very easily pleased. Breakfast or Lunch? How about BOTH!! So we tried to go to eat where it wasn't packed and somehow found this nice gem along the way. We waited 15 minutes for a table as we have a large party with us. So we were torn between eating breakfast and lunch and on the menu they had both items available to purchase. We decided to have a little bit of both as I want a breakfast and some others wanted lunch. The food was fantastic and so was the service. I had the Monte Cristo breakfast which was ham, egg and cheese between 2 french toast slices and the wife had Skeeter skillet. This was sausage, eggs and cheese on a bed of potatoes. I've been to a couple locations of the Canopy Road Cafe now and this location is one of the newest ones in Tallahassee. We were promised a 20 minute wait, but within 10, a table opened up on the patio. The hostess told us if it got too hot outside, we could move inside once a table opened up. Unfortunately, a manager came outside later and apologized, saying that was not the case and was "against their policy" (yes, apparently there is a policy about seating here). I don't understand why he couldn't make an exception to our request, as we were promised one thing and forbidden posthaste. He told us he would "take care of her." As a result, we ended up eating our food in a nice 90 degree outdoor sauna. I really admire the other tables who were able to eat in this heat. Thank god for ice water. There is no iced coffee on the menu so I sipped on my cold water appreciatively. We should never had gotten tricked into sitting outside... Otherwise, our server was nice and friendly and I wish the manager hadn't tainted our experience with lack of customer service skills. Our server let us order iced coffee to replace our hot coffees with no additional charge, which helped a lot. I ordered the BeeBee skillet with 3 sunny side up eggs, home fries and two slices of cinnamon raisin toast. There isn't a meat but I was ok with it. It was tasty with provolone cheese on top. Overall, food was fine but service was lackluster. It made me feel uncomfortable as a customer but our server was nice so we couldn't blame her as the service issue. I do hope they can make sure to standardize the policy to all employees to avoid any abrasion in the future. read more

I tried to order steak and eggs Benedict, but the waitress was making it complicated and didn't know how to ring it up so I just went with a steak with two eggs over medium and home fries. Pretty nice local brunch spot with a classy mom and pop feel. I ordered the country fried steak to go for brunch. The food itself tasted great but they didn't give me any gravy which is what really sets the stage for the dish so I was really disappointed. I called numerous times when I saw it was missing but no one answered. This place was awesome. Food was excellent. On another Florida road trip we decided to stop for brunch and came across this restaurant. We sat at the bar to avoid an hour wait. Canopy Road was packed and we came to find out for good reason. We loved watching the kitchen staff work like a well oiled machine while singing,dancing and joking with each other. They seemed to be having fun and the food got made super fast. The food was so decadent I think I might die. If you're looking to induce a sugar coma I recommend the Cap'n Crunch French Toast. It was great. The lady got the croissant French today that almost tasted like a churro. She said it was very good as well. And the coffee was just right. Canopy Road is a sweet little cafe, relaxing atmosphere and great menu. I ordered the avocado toast, which was delish! The accompanying fruit bowl was sweet and fresh. Why three stars you wonder, slow service. I mean really slow service. We waited to place our order... we waited for our meal... we waited for the check. The waiting really diminished the delight of eating out. Luckily I was with a friend who is a raconteur. When even she mentioned the slow service, I didn't feel so bad for being aggravated. If you want a satisfying meal, this is a great choice, locally owned with a nice variety in the menu, just be able and ready to wait. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. It took almost 1.5hrs for food to arrive after we were seated. Then, food wasn't even correct. Parts of the sandwich I ordered were missing, and the meat on it tasted rather old. The server, while very kind, didn't offer any solutions. Waiting 1.5 hrs for a sandwich is ridiculous within itself, but to get one made incorrectly with old meat.... Update: management/ communications person wants to argue about quality of meat on Yelp.. maybe should spend time serving customers and checking expiration dates instead. The menu includes breakfast fare as well as burgers, sandwiches, and salads. The Elvis pancake, topped with peanut butter and filled with various goodies, stood out and shouldn't be missed - even if you have to order one for the table to share. The breakfast burger and breakfast quesadilla were both good options. I've had omelettes, sandwiches, wraps, and salads in the past, and I've always been pretty satisfied. The flavors aren't particularly unique, and I find that this is the type of restaurant where most of their foods are better with ketchup or ranch or something. The hashbrowns, waffle fries, and onion rings are all good. Overall, it's standard quality diner food with good service. !USED BANDAID FOUND IN FOOD! I am disappointed and disgusted with my experience at Canopy Road Cafe this weekend. I have been a frequent customer at all locations for years. I have worked in the restaurant industry for years and I have a degree in hospitality. My cousin and I went to the restaurant and had brunch together. I ordered a pancake and she got a burrito. My pancake came out completely raw in the middle (which is an easy fix and not a big deal) and our server was very apologetic about it. Once we finished our meal, we took both of our leftovers to go. Later that evening, my cousin called me frantic and showed me a photo of a used bandaid that came out of her burrito. She had taken a bite out of her food and realized something was "chewy".. when she spit it out she realized it was a bandaid. She was unable to contact the restaurant the same day because they were already closed. However, when she called the next day, the manager (Carly) was VERY RUDE about the situation and did not handle the situation professionally. Carly never apologized or validated my cousin's experience with finding a BANDAID in her food. The restaurant refunded her food after Carly said "I guess I will believe you". However, she never apologized and made my cousin feel unimportant. This is a huge health violation and I am very disappointed in the lack of respect the manager has for customers. I am also now concerned for the health of other customers that eat at this restaurant. My cousin is getting tested for HIV and other blood-related diseases for peace of mind.
