Always busy cafe on the Courthouse square in Ellijay GA. I had a Rueben, which was excellent, juicy and done well. My daughter had a BLT, again excellent. Waitstaff was quick, even though it was pretty full. Ambiance is a casual meet up vibe, good for mom and daughter, girls day out and family groups. Did I mention the cakes? OMG. When we were there, we sat near the glass case display with incredible cakes! I think I spotted a Lady Baltimore cake (look it up), a triple layer coconut cake, a chocolate confection cake to die for and several others. This used to be my favorite stop in Ellijay. I ordered a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato sandwich and received 2 pieces of bread with 1 slice of wrapped processed cheese between them. 5 min later the server brought a plate with 1 piece of bacon and a slice of tomato with a produce sticker still on it. Don't get the fanfare. When you strip away the quaint square it sits on, the cute interior, the giant painting of trout to the hall to the bathrooms, and the patio all you have left is an average soup and sandwich shop. On top of that, the slow turn around of 30+ minutes on a cup of soup that is most likely sitting in a kettle, and the slapping of meat and cheese between two pre-made slices of bread and warming it up on a griddle seems a tad on the ridiculously slow side. R&M sandwich shop in Canton does three times the volume at peak of that place and you wait, at most, 5 minutes for the same amount of food. Meh, plenty of other places to go. read more

It is always a treat to visit Cantaberry when we are visiting in Ellijay. The food is always fresh and delicious. I love their soups so much! I would eat here every meal if it was possible. read more

There are many restaurants to choose from in Elijah downtown. It's such a cool downtown. We were traveling home to Fl and needed a place that was dog friendly. The reviews also got my attention. Please spare yourself the disappointment of eating at this place! My experience: My party was immediately confronted with attitude from the staff when we walked in the door. The service from the waitress was fair. She admitted she was new but still would check on us from time to time, refill drinks etc. She is the only reason the review gets 2 stars. Once we ordered it took 45 minutes for 2 sandwiches, a soup, and two burgers to make it out of the kitchen. We were about to get up and walk out when the food arrived. It was cold and unimpressive. The burgers were cold and the soup was way too salty. The soup had probably set in a warmer for a long time and had condensed a bit. The Cuban sandwich was a composed of cold ham out of a package and what looked like canned pulled pork. The best thing about the meal was the basket of individually packaged crackers we snacked on before the "food" came. I would have understood the wait if the restaurant was packed but it looked to only be about half full. Also, there were random yells and loud noises coming out of the kitchen. The bathrooms need a deep clean, and the floor needed to be swept. Took most of us about a day for the gas to subside and our stomachs to return to normal. Note to the owner: "Soup of the Day" is supposed to be made daily and the type of soup should change daily. If the soup never changes, then it's just a menu item. read more

We would definitely recommend this restaurant! Service was excellent, especially considering we went on a Saturday (& it was bustling in the square!). Portion sizes were substantial and the quality of the food was excellent! I had the half salad and sandwich - pimento cheese (yum! Not slathered with mayo; delicious!) and apple, cranberry spinach salad (fresh & large portion). Other sandwiches we had were: BBQ, the Reuben and the Club. Family members enjoyed their coleslaw, too. And, we didn't have dessert, but the enormous slices of chocolate and red velvet cakes looked delicious!! Came to Cantaberry on a whim and was delightfully surprised. The food was great and our server was kind and attentive. The only issue was the hostess. She was rude to almost every customer that came in. When someone would ask the wait, she would say she didn't know. She made several remarks to customers about how the system was flawed with the wait list, and they had her taking care of it because she was the smartest employee there. She proceeds to seat us to "get us out of the way for others to sit and wait". I had my baby's food come out first while we waited on our food. There were maybe 5 pieces of food on the ground which I ALWAYS pick up (past food service worker). She walked past my baby looking at the floor, scoffed, and rolled her eyes at her. She then proceeded to raise her voice at an elderly woman for not hearing her to move out of the way. Great place to visit if you can withstand the hostess. read more

This was the blandest food i have tried in a while and the service was not great with our waitress having an attitude cause there was a rush at the time, which is understandable but who wants to go somewhere where the waiters aren't kind. Oh my goodness. The tomato basil soup is one of their hot items (pun completely intended) and it was with good reason. One of the best tomato basil soups I have ever had. Without giving it too much of an emotional blast, suffice to say that the Tomato Basil was worth the visit alone. It was creamy, savory, and the basil absolutely makes the flavor pop. I'm not sure what else they may add to it, but it's such a treasure. The restaurant itself is quaint and cute and very fitting for a mountain town like Ellijay. If you're hiking, or visiting the legendary apple festival, it's definitely worth a stop. read more
