Some of the best freshly made food we have had while my husband and I were in MN. The restaurant has a modern, stylish Southwest decor. Everything from the tableware, seating and bar area is clean and contemporary. Our server was very attentive, but not in a bothersome way. He brought the fresh salsa and warm chips to our table and let us study the menu. He returned with our drink orders and took our order. Overall, the food was great! I was with a party of 6 others and everyone was happy with their selections. I ordered the mahi tacos with corn tortillas & they were delicious & flavorful. The reason they didn't receive 5 stars is because one of my tortillas was under cooked but by that time I was almost full so I decided I didn't need the tortilla anyway. My son requires a low sodium diet because of a medical condition so going out to eat at restaurants can be very challenging. Because I couldn't find nutritional values on their website I sent a short message via their website inquiring about the sodium values in their food. Not more than five minutes later the chef (I'm so sorry I don't remember his name) gives me a call personally to talk about what my son could eat. I have never had ANY restaurant take as much time answering my questions as Cantina Laredo. Not only was the chef and management wonderful, so was the food. The servers at Cantina Laredo really rubbed me the wrong way. First, we were seated in the bar for some reason - not sure why - and there was only the bartender working the entire bar. It took him forever to come wait on us and once he did, acted as if he needed to get back to the bar. He didn't write anything down so screwed up our order. He retreated back to the bar after we ordered. We sat for 20 minutes before our appetizer came out and then another half an hour before our meals arrived. No one checked up on us as our orders were wrong but not overly so that they were inedible. We never got drink refills or anything. The food was really good though. I got the Camaron Poblano Asada which was rich and creamy and the steak tender and juicy. I love a good skirt steak. My partner got the Cochinita Pibil which was good but not spectacular. We ended up eating all of mine and some of hers. Too bad the service sucks! read more

Mexican restaurants are a formula for me. JUDGEMENT! Chips - 5 stars. Made in house. Warm at the table. No lime salt here. Salsa's - 3.5. Mild is tangy and light. Spicey is Smokey. Guacamole and quest combo Queso - 3.5-4. Good cheese. Coats things nicely. Guacamole- very fresh. Not a lot of Distinct flavor. Just good guacamole. We tried two tapas, Carnitas Sliders - recommend! The apricot and creamy filling is delightful. Warning - they are a bit greasy. They could leave the oil off the bun and I would be thrilled. Cameron y chorizo empanadas- oddly NOT greasy. Food and drinks are usually pretty good. Staff on the other hand-. Had a staff member sit in a booth next to us and play games on her phone with the volume on for at least a half an hour. The high top tables had fabric chairs that smelled like someone sat down soaked with sweat and farts. Was waited on by a "team" of people instead of simply talking to the same person. Accidentally requested the chocolate brownie which is prepared in front of you. The man who prepared it finished, sat down at a table right next to us, stared at us for 3-5mins while conversing with the other staff member who was playing games on her phone at max volume. read more

The restaurant was very dirty - food all over the floor, food on the chairs and many dirty tables. The bar had junk all over it and the pop dispenser was hanging on the ground next to the trash can. We were planning on having lunch but the lack of cleanliness made us change our minds. We had lunch here on Boxing Day. It was pretty full around 1pm but we managed to get a nice booth! We ordered the Top Shelf tableside Guacamole. For almost $11.00 it was pricey but delicious. The serving could have been bigger for that price. I got their Signature margarita. Strong, good flavor and balanced out nicely with that salt rim. We enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsas. Both were good, I preferred the spicier one though. Chips were nice and served warm. Entrees: I got the Chicken Chimichanga with poblano sauce served with rice and zucchini on the side. Good size portion, chicken was grilled and cut into pieces, inside was cheesy and good. Sister got the Enchiladas. One chicken, one cheese. Service was excellent. However, 2 issues with this place: One issue was they never refilled water glasses, not once did they ask if we wanted refills, yet we saw many servers carrying only water carafes around to tables, but our table was ignored. Unsure as to why that would be. Second issue was my sister found a long dark hair inside her cheese enchilada. She is far too polite and pleasant to EVER make a fuss in a restaurant, so she ignored the cheese one and ate the chicken enchilada instead. She did not want to send her food back, but if it was my dish I surely would have! This experience kinda ruined it for us, I'm afraid. Prices are not too bad otherwise, comparable to other Mexican restaurants in the Metro area. Pros: good service and presentation of the meal was on point. Service was good and the waiter was super polite and always bring out more chips and salsa and filling up waters. Meal was good and we didn't need to wait for a seat at all. Restaurant has a nice vibe to it. Nice and clean. Would recommend. Cons: the chicken in the taco was a little dry. Located inside the Mall Of America this chain restaurant does have a good selection of drinks and food. I sat at the bar this evening and enjoyed a couple different margaritas both were good but the ginger, mint margarita was excellent. If you like fresh ginger definitely try this one! On the way to a soccer event and stopped by the mall of America. My son was in the mood for Mexican so we stopped by. Service was extremely friendly and timely. Atmosphere is good with a mix of bar and TVs in the background. Chips and Salsa were fresh and tasty. My son ordered a grilled chicken burrito with the perfect amount of seasoning and a slightly hot sauce which he enjoyed. The sizes are excellent and came with black beans and rice. I went with the Cilantro Salad with Salmon. The fish tasted fresh and I had the perfect mix of greens, black beans, and delicious avocado blended in. To top it off the Mexican Apple pie was the "bomb". On a hot skillet a nice piece of Apple pie is showered with delicious cinnamon ice cream. My kid loved it. Would go back for sure! read more

Guacamole was great! I loved their service! Once you order guacamole, a server comes with a cart with ingredients of guacamole. You are asked to choose the taste of guacamole, like spicy or mild. And you can add the ingredients such as tomatoes, onions, green peppers, and cilantro. It's fun to talk with the server and ask him/her to make my own fresh guacamole. My friend and I visited here for the first time, and we were not familiar with the Mexican dish very much, so we asked our server which is his recommendation. The name of the dish was pretty difficult for me so I don't remember the name of the dish. However the dish my friend took was very very good. It was like a green curry-ish, it contains lots of grilled vegetables, shrimps, and rice. This dish tasted a bit spicy but mild because of the coconut milk. It was very good, much better than usual Thai green curry. I took spinach enchilada, it was ok, actually it was not bad but it was not great. There was a creamy white sauce on the tortilla, and it tasted rich. For me the taste was a bit heavy, but it was ok. I also took a blood orange sangria, it was very tasty. I've been meaning to come here for awhile now but I'm going to be honest, I have to be in the mood for Mexican food - which is unfortunate for my boyfriend because that's what he loves. I FINALLY made it here though! My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday evening and were seated immediately. I love the ambiance, it's intimate and cozy. Our waiter was a little timid but very nice! Bonus! You're served free chips and salsa when you're seated, which were delicious! The chips were a bit stale but the salsa was so fresh and one of them (I think the darker one) had a good kick to it. WE ORDERED: - Queso Blanco - good but underwhelming - Carne Asada - the steak was much too salty for my liking. However, it was good when eaten with the rice, beans, and avocados which mellowed out the saltiness - Enchiladas de Avocado (and artichokes) - not bad, but it wasn't my favorite. I think there were a lot more artichokes than there were avocado. It also could have used some hot sauce to add flavor to it, now that I think about it Cantina Laredo is on the pricier side of food places at the Mall of America. Portion size is decent but I'm not sure if it's quite worth the price. However, I still enjoyed the experience and I'll most likely be back again to give it another chance... but I'll probably order something else next time. I have been here for restaurant week and for regular dinner. Food is definitely on the pricy side. Meals come with chips and 2 salsas. They have a mild salsa that's just got tons of flavor, and they do sell it! The hotter salsa is good as well but it just doesn't have that great flavor like the mild salsa. For restaurant week I had the grilled steak, which was good. The ahi tuna tacos were great! Very refreshing and tons of flavor. The second time I came here was dinner with my mother-in-law and I got the Relleno De Camarones which was super good and while pricey, I would definitely splurge and get it again! It is a poblano pepper with shrimp, monterey jack, mushrooms, corn, spinach, avocado and zucchini. Everyone should try this once. My mother-in-law asked if they sold the mild salsa because she wanted to take some home! Wow, this place really blew my mind! For a place that's inside of a mall (albeit MOA is the size of a city), these guys operate like a stand-alone. Everything from the ambiance to the service to the drinks to the food, everything is top-notch. Normally, mall food is overpriced, underseasoned, and portioned for toddlers. But not here. A recent visit with 3 adults had us all smiley-faced and food-comatosed. For dinner, we started with their complimentary chips and salsa, and requested the spicy salsa. If you're a fan of the heat, definitely try the spicy salsa. We also had the tableside guacamole, and it was so. damn. good. Fresh, balanced, and a perfect accompaniment to the chips. For the main course, we had a spinach enchilada plate, a vegetarian fajita plate, and the Relleno de Camarones. I can't speak much for the spinach enchiladas or the fajitas (although both companions stated that they were excellent), the Relleno de Camarones was probably one of the tastiest unique Mexican dishes I've had, not just at a mall, but ANYWHERE! The sauce, the rice underneath, the big beautiful shrimp, everything about it was addictive! In a sea of food choices within MOA, Cantina Laredo truly stands out as a star! read more

The server was apologetic, but she didn't cook this poor excuse for Mexican food. Expectation were low as we explored the mall of americA, so we decided to stop in here for lunch as it was not crowded and we could be seated right away. We were in for a real treat. The waiter came over right away and recommended a number of fantastic choices. Starting with the table side made guacamole, all the ingredients were super fresh as seen by the taste. And it was made perfectly mushy with some chunks throughout! Highly recommend this in addition to the chips and salsa. As for the meal I ordered a quesadilla off the tapas menu. I was Looking for something not to big since it was lunch! The quesadilla that came out was perfect size! The tortilla shell was crispy but not rock solid like a tortilla chip and the meat inside was cooked perfectly. It was seasoned very well and completed with just the right amount of cheese. This is a must have if you are here with a group or if you just want it all for yourself! Ate at Cantina Laredo in November 2018 and really enjoyed my meal and experience. The restaurant is located in the Mall of America on the 3rd floor/South. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. They have inside seating or outside in the mall area.. Free chips and salsa was very good. All of the food was very good, fresh quality, fair portion size, and reasonable prices. The menu had a good variety of choices. The chicken fajitas were delicious.
