We are longtime Customers for over 30 Years of Canton Chinese Restaurant here in Richardson. For most of our Visits either Lunch or Dinner we always enjoyed the Foods and the Service. Now we are recognizing , from Monday to Thursday there isa new Chef in this Kitchen and not anymore the Chef / Owner of Canton. We , from here on out will only patronize on the Weekends when the Chef / Owner is in the Kitchen. Big differences in the Quality of individual Dishes , like Cheesy Shrimp or Cheese Lobster. Hope they make changes soon so we can go back in mid Week. read more

Comfy, family-style restaurant with a homey feel. Exceedingly efficient service! Our waitress came to take our orders a few minutes after we sat down. We ordered a bunch of items, and they came out one after another, all within about 10 minutes of ordering. I'm still baffled at how they cooked everything so fast!! What we ate: - Crab meat soup (comes with pickled lettuce/carrot) - Whole lobster stir-fried with ginger, scallion - Salt & pepper shrimp (comes with pickled lettuce/carrot) - Combination lo mein - Mongolian beef - Rice - Water spinach My favorites of these were the shrimp and Mongolian beef (goes really well with rice!). Unfortunately I would recommend passing on this option. I was in the area and wanted some take out. I was craving Singapore noodles but my first option was closed. I searched for other options and found Canton Chinese. Pictures of the food looked good and I found something that looked similar to Singapore noodles on their menu. I called to place my order but somehow the person I was talking to convinced me in to ordering Cantonese noodles instead. When I got to the restaurant, there was clutter pushed to one side of the room. It looked like they were using the dining area for storage. If I were dining in, I worked feel uncomfortable having to look at it. I didn't love my order. Compared to other restaurant's Cantonese noodles, their noodles lacked flavor. I regret getting them but based off of how they tasted I don't have much confidence in their other dishes. read more

Food is really good. All I have tried so far like the flat noodle with seafood, stir fry beef and bamboo shoot, pork in garlic sauce, etc. have all been very tasty. EXCEPT one item which was the Shrimp Balls. Out of like 7 times I ordered it, there were at least 2 times they tasted very old. I am not sure if the problem was with the shrimp balls themselves or the oil they fried them in, but they tasted very off I had to throw them away. If I had ordered them in the restaurant, I would have complained but for togo, there was nothing else I could do. Don't order Shrimp Balls to go if you don't like the gamble. read more

We Canton! You have to try the Chinese style fried wontons. My son always asks to order those as a meal because they are so good. Sometimes, we grab an extra order and reheat it in the air fryer later. The eggplant with pork was so flavorful and the eggplants were perfectly cooked. We also enjoyed the combination pan fried noodles. It's important to let it sit for a few minutes to allow time for the gravy to soften the noodles. This dish was packed with shrimp, squid, pork, beef, chicken and vegetables. The beef was so tender in the beef and Chinese broccoli dish. Overall, a fantastic restaurant. read more

Best Lobster we have had anywhere Without question the lobster at Canton in Dallas in a Ginger and Onion sauce is absolutely the best and most flavorful we have ever had. We typically order the lobster with extra onion and Jalapeno and it's around two pounds and has been pre-broken into pieces. We still use picks (which we bring) and lobster crackers which they supply. For New Years 2025 we pre-ordered a large lobster for the two of us, and it was around 4 pounds a massive beast that we were not able to finish completely so had the remains for dinner the next night (still fantastic). We do order a side dish usually noodles of some sort as well. Over the years we have tried many of Canton's dishes and have never been disappointed with anything they have served us. Canton is all about the quality and deliciousness of the food. The restaurant is not fancy, but if great Chinese food at very fair and reasonable prices is more important than décor then this is the place for you. read more

Good comfort and stable Chinese food that have been around for a long time. My go to dishes are the combination flat fried noodles with sauces, and wonton soup. The fried pork chops is a hit or miss but when it's a hit, they're delicious. Throughout the year, we tried different stuff like hot pot, fried sea bass, clams, sizzle beef, snow pea leaves, fried tofu with shrimp, green beans, mapo tofu. Canton has been part of Richardson for ages. Pretty consistent ok chinese food. Not mind blowing amazing, but not terrible either. Craving some chinese food and not having been here in a really long time, I figured I'd order some takeout from here. I ordered some crispy shrimp with cheese and an order of beef pan fried noodles. When I came to pick it up and pay for it, the bill came out higher than expected. The menu posted on their website says $10.95 for the shrimp and $9.50 for the noodles but my total was about $28. I was fairly hungry and didn't really feel like making a fuss over a few bucks during this tough economic situation, but just beware and make sure you ask for the pricing beforehand. I don't know if their menu prices are out of date or if there were some charges that I wasn't aware of, but I wouldn't want anyone else to get a little sticker shock. So, food is about average and the math is a little below par. read more

Great owner and servers! So sweet to our little children. Food is great too. Crispy beef and garlic lobster noodles are standouts. Crab rangoons need more crab in them though. I found the prices to be very economical for the high quality of the food. Ambiance isn't what you pay for here. It may have been a Dairy Queen in a previous life? Fish tanks are an attraction for the kiddos. I love this place and recommend it over any of the other Asian spots in this strip center mecca. The woman owner is a great joke teller too. read more

Honestly this is one of the place you go if you have a big group of ppl and want some family styled chinese food. Prices aren't too bad since portions can be a bit big depending on what you order. If you come during the week, they have lunch specials making it cheaper! Me and a group of 5 (5total) came and sat down. Usualy its really busy here but this time we got really lucky and didn't have to wait. My group ended up ordering 5 entrees: orange beef, clay pot fish, walnut shrimp, snow peas, and beef flat noodles. We kept a menu in case we thouggt we would be hungry but honestly it was just the right amount and we were so full and all had food coma. The orange beef was beef that was fried in a batter with that orange chicken sauce. Not bad but not my favoirte. The clay pot fish was a bit small but yummy! I just hate picking out fish bone so maybe might order a different fish dish next time. The walnut shrimp had a very strong mayo taste. I am not a big fan of the sauce but the shrimp they used was big and really good! My favourite had to be the snow peas and beef flat noodles. I literaly could eat those two all day. Would definitely reccomend ppl to come here! My group already had gratuity added into our checks and she split it 5 ways and we each ended up paying about 17 each. A bit pricy yes for lunch bit we did order a couple of expensive entrees and we had majority guys in the group. Depending on group, how much ppl will eat, what day and time you go, and what you order can make the price be high or low so it can be cheap or high! After my boy came back from a mission trip for a week, I let him select any dinner he wanted and he called Chinese. I thought, here we go Orange Chicken again, so Chinese it was for the family. We had been in this area of Richardson before and wanted to try a different establishment. We arrive to this plaza filled with Asian cuisine just be aware that if you have a SUV or large vehicle park far or your door will get hit. When you enter the restaurant you need to be seated and if you have a large group know that it will be crowded with food and group due to the small tables. Our server was courteous yet not very attentive to our table. We had 5 egg rolls, almond chicken, YES Orange Chicken, twice cooked pork, and Hunan shrimp and chicken. If you want fried rice, they will charge you 4 bucks more. As we waited for our food, the boys used the bathroom at the back of the open dinning area. Let me tell you ALL the food was fresh and brought to us as it was done in the kitchen. The egg rolls a bit to greasy but if you add the chili sauce omg so good. Each portion was large and each bite awesome for 5 it was $80 with tip. A bit pricy but worth it even with slow but friendly service read more

My husband and I chose entrees we were both more familiar with....shrimp fried rice and Cantonese style noodles with shrimp and bbq pork! Y'all, Canton did not come to play today! They were on point. Our entrees were delivered to our table within 10 minutes almost too hot too eat! Fresh! Ready to be devoured by yours truly! We ordered 2 egg rolls which aren't your typical wimpy little things stuffed with who knows what, but they were huuugggeee in size and flavor! Crispy wrapper on the outside with fresh cabbage and carrots on the inside! Again, portions are enough to feed a hungry family of 4 and boy do they really awaken your tastebuds! Very Unprofessional, the food was alright but the service was terrible. They were not specific that a dish contained shrimp,and my friend had a shrimp allergy so when they brought the plate we told them that we though the plate only had chicken or pork. They were very hesitant on bringing out a new plate. They brought a "new plate" out without shrimp but it was the same plate with shrimp still inside!! If we wouldn't have seen it my friend wouldn't have a severe food allergy. The waitress decided to give me an attitude because I decided to not tip them and was yelling at me in Mandarin. So my family and I have been going here for over 15 years literally.... Since we've moved it takes us awhile to get here , it's been a hit or Miss with the food . The service is always great because the servers know us very well . Today I found out the older lady is no longer there she has retired , sad to see her leave . Anyways the food was ok today the sizzling oysters is one of our favorites but today it was chewy , we always spend a lot of money bc we love to eat . So this dated establishment has a lot of Americanized Chinese food offerings as well as some authentic Cantonese dishes. It is not completely one or the other. For this reason, the restaurant has been a draw for two different type of people, even as it is located in New Chinatown. I tried the Americanized Chinese appetizer and dish of fried wontons and BBQ pork lo mein and the Chinese dishes of Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce and crispy pork. The FRIED WONTONS were tasty, even if the edges are too fried and crispy. It's easy to see why this one could be a guilty pleasure even though it's not amazing or authentic. The BBQ PORK LO MEIN was awful, lifeless, bland, and made with overly dried pork. Nothing juicy about this dish. Needless to stay, we had leftovers. And it was this dish that was left over. The CRISPY PORK was tasty, well seasoned and well fried. The pork was moist and it has the noticeably authentic Asian spices that differentiates it from the Americanized offerings. Well done. Just get the Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce to nicely complement it since the pork by itself without any sides can be too much. CHINESE BROCCOLI WITH OYSTER SAUCE was well made, even if it was a little on the salty side. However, as a complement to the two more bland entrees we had, it was actually perfect. This and the crispy pork together makes for good eating. But overall, I think there's better Chinese places to eat in the shopping strip. So I'm not sure if I would return - maybe with more research to find a dish that they really excel at. It seems like a lot of people also recommend the fried stuffed shrimp balls. If you do come here though, I can recommend the crispy pork. Oddly though, it seems like Caravelle, in the same shopping strip, is known for the same things, and unfortunately for this place, Caravelle looks nicer inside. So if I were you, I'd probably just head over to Caravelle. read more

One of my family's favorite Chinese restaurants in DFW - I've gone here for years and years. The food is always delicious and plentiful; and as a pescatarian, I have plenty of both vegetarian and seafood options. The carnivores are usually happy with their plates too. I recommend the walnut shrimp! It's my weakness. Other favorites are the salted squid, sautéed Chinese spinach, steamed whole fish, and bố lúc lắc (shaking beef). The service is usually great to us; although it can get busy and lull a bit in between. Finally, it's a cozy, medium-size restaurant that is practical and straightforward.
