Pretty solid Chinese food and a random find. I was on my way back from O'Hare and craving some Chinese and found this place on yelp. The ambiance is pretty clean and welcoming and there were plenty of tables to dine in. The menu was extensive and they offer a wide variety of cantonese and mandarin dishes. The hot & sour soup was excellent - not your usual takee outee soy sauce heavy hot & sour soup but more authentic with a sweeter flavor. I highly recommend it and the small bowl was a very healthy serving. I was torn between trying the chop suey or the subgum, but in the end decided to go with my old standard, Hunan Chicken. The serving was plentiful and I had more than enough left over for dinner that night. Healthy and fresh tasting chicken with fresh veggies of broccoli stalks, carrots, shitake mushrooms and a flavorful sauce. There was definitely some oil but not extra greasy and certainly not the most oily chinese food I've had. Service was friendly and tea is complimentary. I will definitely keep this on my radar whenever I'm passing that area and have a hankering for Chinese. read more

Dislike Mongolian beef and Hunan chicken. Fried rice better than remembered. Still very much like egg rolls and General Tso's. Vegetables in Hunan chicken were undercooked and chicken in it was fine (we wouldn't order again). Sweet and sour chicken very good. read more

Okay, why can't I find an exceptional Chinese restaurant in this area. Finally ordered from Canton hearing that it was the best ace around, and drum roll....it was alright. We ordered the General Tao's chicken and chicken fried rice. The chicken was good, not great. The chicken fried rice was plain, as was the crab Rangoon. Egg roll was good, but nothing here was as spectacular as we were lead to believe by many reviewers and from word of mouth. With as many Chinese restaurants that exist I would think that at least one of them would really deliver. Unfortunately my search continues. read more

What a find! Moved to the neighborhood about a year ago. Had mostly delivery until recently when we ate there. Spotless, bright room, excellent friendly service and the food is super. We have tried quite a few dishes and liked them all. Fresh quality ingredients served in piping hot generous portions. Eat there, pick up or delivery you can't go wrong. This was a new place for my husband and I. It was really good. My husband wished for more of the orange chicken sauce, it is an orange flavor, not like most places. The General Tso was awesome and had quite a kick to it. Egg rolls were good. We will be ordering from here again read more

The food is your typical Mandarin/Cantonese Chinese food. My wife and I had the dinner plate specials which include pork fried rice and an egg roll (shrimp) with your entrée. She had the sweet and sour chicken while I had the Mongolian beef based off of other recommendations. Our food was ready in 15 minutes and was still warm when I picked it up. The rice was a touch on the dry side but otherwise very tasty. The Mongolian beef was very good and had medium heat. The S&S chicken was also good and wasn't soggy. Their chicken pieces are smaller than other places; however, there is no lack of white meat chicken as is the case with some of the larger pieces you get from elsewhere. The real winner here are the portion sizes - very large. Bottom line, this isn't "the best" Chinese food out there but you're not going to be disappointed. I'll be going back. read more

I've been here a few times. The food is hot and fresh (seems fresh, anyway) which you won't get with a lot of Chinese restaurants. It also stands out in the way it's a great place to sit down and eat, another rare thing with the majority of American Chinese restaurants. My main problem: they are INCREDIBLY shady about a few of their practices (one in particular) and the service isn't usually that great. As with a lot of Chinese restaurants, when you order to dine in, they give you a TON of food. This is great if you're really hungry and can eat a lot. Given the prices (which I guess are reasonable) you'll want to take it home. Try a little experiment. Ask for boxes to pack up your own food. The waiter (or someone) will go to take your plate and take it back to the kitchen. STOP them, repeat yourself, and be insistent that you pack your OWN food. Every single time I have asked to pack my own food, they take it to the kitchen and return about half of the food that I had left. This is stealing. I don't know what they do with the rest of the food, but it is like something either unsanitary or downright wasteful. Either way, it is STEALING, and I will never waste another dollar here, unless it's to make a scene in their restaurant. read more

Gosh. This place had a whole half star better rating than most others in the area. It is very difficult to find a good Chinese restaurant these days. Ordered hot and sour soup and egg foo young. First spoon of the hot and sour soup was surprising, because it was so sweet. Never had sweet hot and sour soup before... As for egg foo young... It was ok. The fried rice was on the ok side, but the oil they used didn't taste like vegetable based oil (maybe pork or fats from other meats). Didn't finish the food, because I was feeling sick. One of the worst Chinese I've ever had, but certainly, for Chicago area, not the first. I really miss the old Chinese restaurants that had great food, healthfully prepared... Food was okay. Atmosphere is dated. Wall paper is old. And the worst part is 3 large fish in a small fish tank with nothing in the fish tank to even make it interesting. Cloudy water 3 large fish and a fish tank barely large enough for 3 gold fish let alone 3 large 8" fish. Very sad, I could hardly eat, in fact I felt sick. This is the ONLY decent place in Park Ridge for Chinese food. I am very picky about my potstickers and they have very good ones! We order them steamed, and there are 8 to an order. These potstickers are huge! I also recommend the chicken with broccoli. It comes in a white sauce is not too spicy. Egg rolls and chicken with rice soup are good too. One thing to note, if you order take out, tell them easy rice on the soup. When we got home, the rice soaked up all the broth. They are always very quick to make food. Usually ten to fifteen minutes or half hour when busy. Prices are decent. Crab Rangoon is my favorite here besides Venus in uptown. They have a sweet hot and sour soup worth trying. Their pot stickers are very good deep fried with a soft thick and tasty doughy shell. I have tried both the Mongolian beef and general tsao and would recommend both. My favorite dish is the honey walnut shrimp. It is not on the menu at least not online. So good. My family and I decided to visit the best Chinese food restaurant in the area. Canton Tea Garden popped up as one of the best. Since it was 2 miles away from our hotel we made the drive. Didn't really care to park on a busy street so we parked around the corner. Upon walking in we were greeted by a young man and woman. Some family ordered appetizers which were awesome. I must say they have the best wonton soup! Not salty or greasy. Every course was amazing! Rice not clumpy, chicken just right...when visiting Rosemont, IL be sure to stop in Canton Tea Garden. As long as you're not looking for a fancy, decorated, well-appointed environment, this is a very casual place with potstickers and lo mein that are reminiscent of homemade, authentic Chinese comfort food. My family finds the dishes here very good and reasonably priced. We don't have to drive all the way to Chinatown to get our Chinese food fix. Our kids also enjoy dining here. Our favorite dishes: Wonton Soup, Potstickers, BBQ pork lo mein, Mongolian beef, Chicken (or beef) and Broccoli, House Egg Foo Young. (Note: the wonton soup is loaded with wontons when you dine-in. Used to be my FAVORITE place but recently I believe they've changed their egg rolls which was my favorite thing. Food can be salty and I've found meat quality, specifically chicken, seems to have changed. Their egg drop soup though is GREAT. We still eat it occasionally, though. All I can say is... YUCK! This is cheap, greasy, flavorless food that may do the trick if you are just trying to inexpensively feed a bunch of children on a field trip, or if you have the palate of someone who also likes ham salad, jello molds, and other delights more popular in decades when people didn't have access to fresh, well-made food. I ordered the honey walnut shrimp on the advice of another review. Several hard, fried shrimp and walnuts were rattling around by themselves in a too-large box, while old, sticky, hard, white rice was packaged in another box. The honey walnut shrimp had mayonnaise all over it. It was too gross to eat. The eggroll was just an eggroll. Everyone else at the table had food just drenched in grease and gloppy sauce. I hate food waste... HATE IT. But this restaurant's food inspired me, for the first time in my life, to eat a couple bites and then just throw it out. read more

Not set up well to handle pandemic. They say 30 minutes to everyone on the phone but you end up waiting an extra 40 once you get there. I say it's not safe because there's 15-20 people inside a small section of the restaurant while waiting. I like the food a lot and wouldn't have wrote this if it only happened once. This is my third experience where the wait time is doubled and one of the times i was picking up an older man was harassing me right at the counter and the staff did nothing. read more

What a hidden gem! I went here for lunch with a co-worker and it was excellent. Their lunch specials come with egg drop soup, an egg roll, fried rice, and a large entree. Surprised this place isn't rated higher. The Mongolian Beef and Chicken Fried rice alone warrants 4 stars. Sure, it's average Chinese take out and it can be a little greasy for some but it's also full of flavor at a fair price. I've only eaten in once but if you're looking for Chinese take out in the area it doesn't get any better. In the countless Chinese joints I've been to around the city and suburbs I have yet to find Mongolian Beef that is as delicious as it is at Canton. No other place make theirs like they do here. The sauce is thicker and more flavorful than others and unlike some places they offer a spicy version which is my go-to. The Chicken Fried Rice is also some of the best in the area. This is not your typical peas and carrots fried rice with bland unseasoned chicken, this rice is rich and full of flavor. There have a plethora of other great things; their wonton soup and egg foo young is solid as are most of the other standard Chinese dishes. But in my 30+ times eating there I needed nothing more than that Mongolian Beef and Chicken Fried Rice. Whenever i'm in the area, which is rare, I always make sure to stop in. read more

I live a block away and this there's a Chinese restaurant literally right downstairs but I choose to come here. It's my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Chicago area. Cheap but quality is what this restaurant offers. My favorite thing is that when you walk in you are always greeted with a friendly smile and a pot of hot oolong tea (free of charge). Huge portions and incredibly delicious food make it worth the walk. I come in one or two times a week. Show some love and come here next time you have a Chinese food craving. read more

The service can get a little routine, but it's not terrible by any means. They have really great dinner specials here, and they pretty much keep me coming back. For $8.10 I got a choice of soup, 2 chicken wings, an egg roll, some of the best Mongolian Beef in the city, and fried rice...and I got to take home leftovers. What a deal! So I went again this year while I was visiting Chicago. Still same great deals... A friend and I went here for lunch. We had a combination meal which included egg drop soup, egg roll, fried rice and entree (I had Chicken Chop Suey and my friend had Beef Egg Foo Yung). Each dish was only $6.00. Our combined bill was only $13.00 which included tax. The food was delicious and nice-sized portions. Oh, and they served us FREE hot tea!! Visiting this area and discovered this gem of a Chinese restaurant! We were immediately sat and brought a pot of jasmin tea. Then a few minutes later, some egg drop soup. The prices are pretty decent, the portions are family sized for sharing. We ordered honey walnut shrimp, lomein, fried rice, and chicken with garlic sauce for 4 people and it was more than enough! Brought home leftovers enough to feed two more people. The honey walnut shrimp was my absolute favorite! The portion was good, the shrimps were a good size, very succulent and not overwhelmed by the batter. The walnuts and sauce were both delicious too. The rest of our order was excellently cooked. Perfectly seasoned and not too oily. There was definitely no skimping on ingredients, the meat/vegetable ratio was good! This is probably the most authentic Chinese restaurant I've been to. If you are a baby boomer and grew up eating classic Cantonese food, you will love this place! It has been here for 75 years! Everything is fresh and crisp and well prepared. Not too over salty or thick and Gloppy the way some Cantonese gravy's can get. And in addition to being delicious, I don't even know how they survive on the reasonable prices that they charge. You can get a complete dinner with wonton soup, delicious egg roll, some little tasty chicken nuggets, a huge plate of the best barbecue pork fried rice I've ever eaten and your choice of entree for around $8. My favorite is just the Classic chicken chow mein. Loaded with Crispy celery, fresh mushrooms, water chestnuts and tons of crispy and flavorful bean sprouts! I went here with my 4 and 15 yr old nieces and 4 yr old nephew. We all loved the food. We ordered shrimp fried rice, chicken noodle soup, egg rolls, pot stickers, and mangolian beef. Everything was tasty. The only thing I didn't like was that the shrimp were not deveined. This place is next door to living sea aquarium and they have a huge pool with a tarpon and puffer fish.
