When I called in to place my order for takeout, they picked up super fast. Then when I went in to pick up my food, I was greeted by the owner; he smiled and waved at me hello. Positive interactions throughout. The staff worked to quickly get my food out to me. Afterwards, the owner explained how he cooks the beef bones for more than 10 hours every day to make the gravy for his egg foo yung. (No wonder it was delicious.) To be honest, before tonight, I hadn't been to Canton for a couple years, because in the past it was kinda looking run down. I realized they were under new management as soon as I stepped inside. Terribly slow restaurant , delivery takes forever food took forever to arrive and when it did we did not receive everything we purchased. We thought perhaps they were just busy and it was a one time mistake and the food was okay so we ordered a second time , but to the same effect. They do not have enough help , they often mix up orders and you have to wait two hours for orders to come out . After the previous owner sold this business, there's sadly been a huge drop in food quality. The old owner was very sweet and you could tell was very hard working. The new guy up front I'm convinced is a Chinese cannibal, and he creepily laughs at almost everything you say, but he is kind. The two ladies there are great. Had a great dinner tonight tasty sesame chicken, cream cheese wontons, broccoli beef, egg foo, and fried rice. Love the foo gravy!!!!

Driven by this place almost every day, finally picked up some food last night! The potstickers ($7.55) were crispy and the filling was packed in there!! They come with a delicious sweet and savory sauce. The beef curry fried wontons ($5.95) are crunchy, with subtle flavor from the pocket of beef curry wrapped inside. They were the best thing to have with the egg drop soup, which was one of my favorite things we ordered. It's a savory, clear broth with a creamy texture and delicate whisps of egg for $1.75 a cup. The ham fried rice ($6.55) had good flavor, it's your basic rice. The steamed rice ($2.75 for large size) was very clumpy and mushy. The Kung Pao Chicken ($10.95) is chopped up chicken and celery with a sprinkling of cashews on top. The sauce is runny, lacks flavor and spice. I added a healthy dose of sriracha to compensate for the spice. The Cashew Chicken ($10.95) is the exact same thing, without any flavor to the sauce at all. If you're expecting that, you won't be disappointed. The Orange Chicken Dinner Combo ($9.45) came with a hearty portion of flavorful battered chicken in a sweet citrus glaze, a side of ham fried rice, a cup of egg drop soup, and an enormous egg roll that once split open, smelled and tasted of rotten cabbage. 4 stars because they had the Bears/Rams game on while I waited to pickup the order, and the gentleman at the register was so polite and kind to me. read more

First, it took over 45 minute to get our items, we'll call it food for now. After a few bites, this food went right in the trash--which is where half of my organs are going to go, because I'm 94 percent sure that any doctor would remove me from the suitable donor list after what I've consumed. Do you ever crave good Chinese food? This place is legit. It is consistently good. I know there is stuff like sweet and sour pork on the menu... you have to cater to the "needs" of the people. I went here once recently because it is relatively close to me and an independently owed business. I really wanted to like this restaurant! The first visit there was okay, I had Pon Pon chicken, the meal is a great value. Their spring rolls weren't great but edible, the hot & sour soup decent. It was good enough that I went back, again more out of convenience than because of my experience with the food. The second, and most recent visit was disastrous. I ordered the broccoli & chicken meal. The hot & sour soup was tepid after driving home 10 minutes and was gelatinous from having way too much cornstarch/whatever thickening agent they use, it was inedible. The worst was the broccoli chicken, also tepid but of the 3 pieces of broccoli I choked down, all three had slimy clumps of the thickening agent in the sauce throughout them, the egg rolls had cabbage in them that was also cooked with so much cornstarch that they tasted like they had mashed potatoes in them. After giving up on everything I figured I would just eat rice with a bit of soy sauce- the rice was so over done, that it just fell apart when I began to chew it. I rarely write reviews, and don't give 1 stars, but this experience was so terrible that I felt I needed to share it so that no one ends up having the same experience. I have ordered here for years. The food is typically good (not great) It has slowly started getting worse over time. When I think I'm done with this place, I try something different thinking it will taste or perhaps turn out different. I have tried so many different versions of their chicken dishes, every time they are hard as a rock. I'm over being disappointed. I believe Panda Express is better at this point then paying $9 + for hard as a rock chicken dishes with hardly no chicken just hard crispy fried pieces. The reason for 3 stars, is the service is less than desirable, and the main dishes are nothing special. They tend to be a little bland, and add up to get pricey pretty quick. We are big fans of Canton Village, and have driven from west Riverton to 9th East in Murray to get it on more occasions than I can count. It's always been worth the drive, and the money! They serve up some tasty Chinese food for a great price at CV. This is a tiny strip-mall take-out counter joint, located just west of Copenhagen West (my favorite furnishings store!). It's consistently busy, especially on the weekends. When you call, they typically put you on hold for a second to finalize the call-ins which are inevitably ahead of you. But they get to you quick, and are very thorough all the way through the ordering system. I mention this, because there are way too many take-out restos which do not care enough for their calling customers, rush through the order, and when mistakes occur as a result, they blame the customer. Not at Canton, my friends. We've never had an order mistake here. They take their time and will customize their food for your tastes, by request. Just tell them what you want, and they'll do it (assuming it's reasonable - like, just don't ask them to include Neil Patrick Harris with your to-go order. They will not do this. Trust me.). If you want to dine in here, they really only have a couple of tables at which to do so. We never have, nor do we know anyone who ever has. It's a quintessential take-out joint. We love their food, and have tried nearly everything on the menu throughout our time coming here. I would love to say that we have favorites, but honestly, everything we get at Canton is delicious every time. Some of their stand-out menu items are the Hot & Sour Soup, Pepper Beef, Szechuan Chicken/Shrimp, and fried rice. Yes, their fried rice is truly the BEST I've had anywhere. Also, give their Sweet & Sour Chicken and their Lemon Chicken a try. These are two dishes I don't usually order because they're fried, and typically have cloyingly sweet sauces elsewhere. They are fantastic at Canton, and I don't even care that they're fried. It's always a tough decision determining what to order at Canton because literally everything is so good! Also - and I'm not sure why they do this other than the psychological effect of thinking you got a discount, but - they offer a 10% discount on all take-out orders, all the time. More complicated than simply reducing their prices by 10%, seems to me. But whatever. I don't really care as long as they keep dishing out the great food. The counter service here is friendly and efficient. Be there when they tell you your order will be ready, and it will be ready. Pick up your yummy Chinese take-out, drive it home enjoying the Ambrosial Aroma of Anticipation, then chown until you simply cannot chown anymore. read more

Meh, this was the only place I could find, besides pizza places, that would deliver to me when I was starving last Saturday and did not want to go ride my bike somewhere. The Gyoza, i could eat it but it more resembled corndogs than gyoza. The orange chicken was also unimpressive, the taste of orange wasn't really there and I had doubts about the quality of chicken that was being used. The hot and sour soup was probably the best out of the three but I have had much better elsewhere. It also turned solid when refrigerated. I do not know if that is normal but the left over soup was not nearly as great as when I received it. This will be a last resort for me. read more

We had a hankering for Chinese take-out one day and this was the place 1) that was open on Sunday evening and 2) for which we had a coupon on hand. It wasn't our first choice, but it was the one that met both requirements. The other place we tried seemed to have shut down :( I'm not a connoisseur of Chinese take-out. I avoid Panda Express and feel the prompting of my conscience telling me to get out anytime I begin to step foot in a Chinese Buffet (never my own choice...). But I do enjoy some good ol' American-Chinese cuisine. And let's not kid ourselves, this sweet sticky stuff sure ain't Chinese, but a liberal interpretation thereof. Food was yummy. I enjoyed everything we ate and was grateful for the handful of veggie options available. Food wasn't stand out or anything, but satisfied our craving and gave me lunch for the next day, too. Just as good as the next Chinese take-out place. Not snooty like P.F. Changs or anything, but also not dripping in oil like some places I've been. Service was prompt. I didn't make the order, so I can't speak to that, but it seemed to be pretty easily handled. The food arrived quite quickly, certainly not as long as the 45 minute wait they predicted. They took our card without hassle also. Cost was cheap! We got three entrees, two orders of Crab Rangoon and egg drop soup (for free with the coupon) all for $31.90. And noting that it lasted me for lunch the next day, I was not disappointed. I would definitely consider ordering from them again, but considering this is the first Chinese take out in about...two years? I doubt that will happen. read more
