It is a strange request, but they accommodated me with no problem. They had a case at the front of the restaurant with grapes and strawberries, skewered and coated in a crunchy sugary coating. The cauliflower (I don't know the actual name but it's stir fried, spicy and comes with peppers) had wok hei and I couldn't stop eating it. Beef rolls is the sophisticated auntie of the scallion pancake. Think of it like an asian burrito with thin sliced beef, fresh scallion and cilantro, and a touch of hoisin all hugged together with a crispy tasty scallion pancake. The shredded potato tastes like the best potato salad that isn't your picnic potato salad. The shredded potatoes were quickly blanched then stir fried preserving the crunch and crispness similar to al dente pasta. Seasoning was on point. The homiest flavor came from the stewed short rib. The rib pieces were braised in a soy and star anise sauce like what you find in Taiwanese beef noodle soup. The peels potatoes were cut rustically and just cooked through and not mushy. Authentic flavors and freshness like this is so so hard to come by. I can taste the quality of the ingredients used. One tip I have for selecting authentic food is by looking at the customers. If the customers are all Asian eating at an Asian restaurant, you know the food is going to be good. Service was 10/10, waitress was super polite and stopped by to chat with us about the food and SLC. I am from out of town but I grew up eating at NYC Asian restaurants and this is as good as if not better. After some time passed the server returned to inform us the ribs were sold out and provided us with a menu to look at other options. A little more time passed and then more bad news the egg drop soup was also out of stock. We declined on ordering anything else and I asked if my chicken sando was still coming and was told yes it's on it's way. Meanwhile we watched three other tables arrive and place orders and even receive their food and yet my chicken sando was still missing. I flagged down our server and again was told my chicken was coming. Another 15 minutes passed and still not sandwich. I politely flagged down our server and requested the check as our lunch experience had gone on for over an hour now and still our food was incomplete. We got an apology and the bill and began to exit. As we were leaving the server arrived at our table with a takeout bag with my chicken sando. I'm not sure what was happening on this visit but something felt very off at the Drunken Kitchen. First impressions are very important especially in a dining experience and this first impression was not good at all.

Never have I ever experienced more ignorance in my life! I will never order anything from this restaurant ever again!! Apparently when you order an entree from this restaurant, they charge you more than they advertise and do not send white rice ... how am I supposed to eat this sweet and sour shrimp with no white rice? And when I called to tell them they forgot to send rice with my order, they said that sweet and sour does not come with rice?! Excuse me, but who has ever eaten sweet and sour ANYTHING without rice?! I would have ordered the jumbo fried shrimp and saved myself a dollar and a half if I knew they did not honor their menu and send rice with sweet and sour entrees. They will never get our business again, and I work in the hospital where we have ordered from there a lot ... and all over an order of rice. What a terrible way to run a business. As much as I love this place the girl that runs the phones and the ordering is completely rude. I know it was busy but that doesn't mean have an attitude and have a perma frown. We wanted the A dinner But wanted to substitute lo mein for egg foo young. We don't like egg. We were told NO by her. I said I will pay whatever up charge and the answer was still no. Really??? That's BS. With any business if you pay you can have what you want. The owner wouldn't step in either. For a place that has such good food their customer service is horrible. The Pon pon chicken is battered and deep fried and has a lightly spicey orange sauce. Ham fried rice has a small amount of peas and carrots which is good for the kids. This is not a fancy "sit-down" place. But it has the best Ham-fried rice with Bean Sprouts that I have ever tasted for $6.55. You get a very nice sized helping and... a fortune cookie! My wife loves their hot and sour soup. I highly recommend this place for a quick in and out for great (not fancy) and affordable Chinese food. read more

I don't think Utah knows Chinese food though.
