I want to start off by saying the owner is a very friendly and welcoming. I came here on my lunch and there was a little bit of wait, it was only the owner inside. I didn't mind the wait since I work fairly close. I got a turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomato,onions, avocado, cucumbers, salt+pepper & a deli dressing all on a French roll. He kept offering more fixings which he let me know wouldn't be any extra! He sliced all the veggies and meat very thin(just how i like it!) after paying he said he'd hope I liked the sandwich. It was delicious! I'll definitely be going back. I'm so happy to have found a good deli sandwich near my work. I've yet to find a better place in the area. Thank you!! read more

Cool guys has been part of the Ingleside neighborhood for close to 30 years! They've always been courteous, professional and giving to our neighborhood but recently, they've added an ice cream parlor which has been to the delight of our son and his friends. I've been going here for over a decade with my dad to get random things we often forgot at our grocery shopping trips. It's kind of a trip to comeback for things myself, without my dad. The store owners and workers are super friendly and kind. It's nice that they're the friendly neighborhood corner store. Everyone in the area comes here and it's a great place to just grab a few things. When I'm in the area visiting my parents, I always make it a point to come and spend some time and money here, as it is a small business. They literally have something for everyone - small snacks, sweets and treats for everyone. Drinks ranging from milk to juice to red bull, to alcohol - which makes it a one stop shop. They have canned foods, some produce, dry goods and so much more. read more

Hi this store get so much good review I wonder if they are all real? I have no issues with the quality of foods or items in this store, but the service was the thing that disappointed me the most. Just to be clear I have no reason to lie for what I wrote in review, not point of doing that. I just go in this store to buy 1 sprite, everything was normal until I meet up with the owner at the counter, I paid with my phone everything was legit, and then the owner stop me and told me that the transaction was not go though, I TOTAL NORMAL WITH IT, I said is there something wrong and tried to pay 1 more time. - The owner stopped me and said "Credit or debit", I said "credit", - He said "it need to be debit" - I ask him why not told me from the beginning - He said "I DONT HAVE TO TELL YOU, IT JUST THAT" he raised his voice like i was doing something wrong to him. I told him to clam down and is there any problem that you dont tell me it need to be credit or debit. He said " i just told you that, buy it or not". I was like what this dude problem with me, I left the store without buying. i dont know what happened to him or he had a bad day or he just discriminate I just there only to buy 1 drink or I like Asian. To future people who go to "COOL GUYS MARKET" just to buy 1 item, find a better store with decent people who treat you better read more

4 stars to the Cool Guys, not because of their fabulous produce or gourmet foodstuffs (just the basics here) - no, because it feels like this place transports me to another city - it should be in Queens, at a cultural crossroads, everyone united by the fact that they will inevitably need in the course of a day: 1 Beef Jerky 1 40 (any variety) 1 Lottery Ticket (5 if lucky) 1 Carton of Smokes 1 Popsicle ('cause the baby is hungry) ...and don't you know, they are going to pay for it using CHANGE. The guy who runs the place is really nice, and seems relieved to see us stop in - probably because we're nice (coherent) and because we keep his supply of powdered sugar and milk and aluminum foil turning, and we always have enough money that we don't have to make everyone wait while we throw all of our pennies on the counter and see what sticks. This one time I was driving home at like 4am... and there was a car smashed through the front door of this liquor store. NO JOKE. I felt bad for the guys who own it because they really are Cool Guys. This place gives me the creeps. They have products on the shelf that look like they are about 20 years old, and the packaging is all yellowed and dusty. It's weird. It seems like a store a little bit out of time. They have convenience type foods (twinkies, wonder bread, candy bars, watery coffee) so I suppose that is the reason that most people use this place. However, the corner store is a real eyesore. The merchandise shelves need a good and throughout purging and dusting. read more

Good place to stock up on lottery tickets, booze and rolling papers. Please block the sidewalk when visiting, nobody really uses it. Extra points if you can also block the street. And be absolutely sure not to put on blinkers or anything, wouldn't want to risk wearing out your battery... If you are high on crack or just escaped weeks trapped in an avalanche, the ages-old expired food probably seems very tempting and delicious. read more

This is such a great corner store. I stop in a couple times a week. The guys that run it are always friendly and sweet, I love coming in and making small talk as they ring me up. I love that I can run over here and find just about anything I might need in a pinch. Snacks, frozen meals, drinks, alcohol, household odds and ends, etc! This is the old "Selmies" (note to self check spelling) This section of Holloway Ave in the OMI is legendary. Across the street where Yama Sushi is was a candy store called "Mrs J's" They offer a great selection of booze and beer. There is a deli. The owner also keeps good hours. We lack a grocery store in our neighborhood...Cool Guys is one of the alternatives. I am hoping this section of Holloway Ave continues to revitalize. The Cool Guys owner also owns the building. Cool Guys is cool because it is the best liquor store in my neighborhood thanks to their low prices, broad selection of everything from t.p. to junk food to dairy products. Love it. And the guys who own it are really cool and friendly. I think they remember everybody who walks in because they always have a new recommendation for me. I live a few blocks away so it's easy to stop in for some wine or just skip the grocery store for a few necessities. Since moving into the neighborhood my housemates and I have made it a semi-weekly ritual to walk down to coolguys and stock up one some good quality $6 wine (which they have a huge selection of). I usually bring my tiny puppy and the cool guy working never seems to mind as long and i pick her up and carry her. always helpful when it comes to finding prices on unmarked bottles of wine. They do close pretty early most nights so they're no substitute for Rite-Aide, but if you want to support a local small business owner these guys are great. read more

This store has been around about 12 y ears now...growing up it was run by the Dudum Brothers (everyone called it "Sell-me's" back then. In its day, it was a full functioning grocery store with produce/meat dept with butcher, deliveries, etc. HOWEVER, the stores present day incarnation, Cool Guys, is a bit more basic....and If you need a few items but don't want to trek over to a big chain grocery store, pop into Cool Guys, they will most likely have exactly what you need! They have a great selection of liquor (in large bottles and small) beer, wine, all that...so if you're hosting a 'do at your place and run low on beer/spirits or bbq potato chips/beer nuts, you can definitely "re-load" at this place! HOWEVER...they also have dairy products, some fresh fruits, a whole freezer section, household stuff (tp/paper towels) cleaning supplies, canned goods...the whole lot! AND a really great ice cream selection! Considering they are an independent grocer, their prices are surprisingly low...unlike similar stores I have been too, you won't see "$5.00 cans of soup" or anything! Cool Guys also features a LOTTO machine, many different "Scratcher" games if you want to 'secure your financial future = ) Seriously, where else can you get snacks/news/the makings for a martini/the possibility of millions AND get neighborhood gossip all in one place?? The owner Dhillon is very pleasant , usually only there at opening/closing time...the other clerk, Suginder, is also very nice...doesn't say much but always polite and helpful They have the daily Chronicle as well as the free Examiner and some other neighborhood papers...hot coffee/donuts...I'm not sure if they still make deli sandwiches...they used to and they were pretty good...generous portions of meat/cheese and yummy sourdough rolls! If you ever go there and find there isn't something you would like...generally, if you mention it to them, they will start stocking it...this has happened with the Vitamin Water 10's I like and yogurt...they go out of their way to make sure they have what their customers like, which to me is such a reflection of their work ethic, the pride they take as merchants to satisfy their customers...this is what earns loyal, repeat customers! Cool guys is about 20 steps away from my house. It's in a perfect location. It's not your average joe liquor store. It's got your everyday essentials for hygiene, cooking, and pretty much whatever you need. I usually hit it up every few days for some cigs. One downside, they close before 10p. I'm used to liquor stores closing after midnight for those emergency beer runs. I love that they have a small bottle of Ciroc. That's just a personal like. The guys that own it are indeed pretty cool. read more

I ADORE the Cool Guys brothers! I love realizing I need something just so I have an excuse to drop in and say hello! I do wish they'd stay open past 9, but they can draw some sketchy characters late at night so it's understandable. In my opinion, they've got the most reasonable prices on booze of all the local convenience stores (especially the 7-11 on Ocean, ugh - hate that place) and plenty of necessary staple items. Really, though, you just gotta love the owners - friendly, fun to converse with, and work hard to keep their business running smoothly. Haven't tried any of the deli items but heard they're swell. I have lived less than a mile from Cool Guys for almost 10 years and only recently started frequenting this place. Their prices are typical for a corner market, but the selection is great. I can pretty much get any emergency item I need here when my wife realizes she's short an ingredient on dinner, which is good because otherwise I'd be headed to Safeway on Monterrey. It is especially helpful now that the 7-11 near my house is only selling junk food. They also have a better alcohol selection. read more

Cool guys market is one of the better 'corner' liquor stores I have had the opportunity to do business with. This place stands out mostly cause they always have high life 40s on sale ($2.00 special) and they sell pimps (aka newports) for $.25 a pop. The two brothers who run this place are great. They are interesting to talk to and ahve plenty to say about our nation's invovement in the middle east. As for the stuff they actually sell here, well it is the ussual liquor store foare. Drinks, chips, blunts, candy...I like the fact that they have a 'produce' section, where you will find fresh tomatoes and avocadoes. What makes this store stand out is the 'credit' system they have. I have seen this dude trade a beard trimmer for a couple of forties. awsome!!! they lose one star because there blunt and paperz selection is pretty limited. if you are ever in ingleside and need a place to buy a forty, stop by the cool guys market. read more

so i've lived in the ingleside my entire life and therefore cool guys has been a staple in my life for as long as i can remember. not only are the guys very cool, they are also kick ass sandwich makers. I KNOW I KNOW...that case with all the salami and cheese looks suspicious, however, before i went to college (last year) my mom called in like at least 2 days a week and ordered me and my three siblings salami sandwiches on dutch crunch with all of the fixings and, let me assure you, they were fabulous. read more

Good ol' place has been around with the same owners for some time now, more than 5 it seems. Great people to talk with since they are very carefree and amicable. It's an odd little corner store, on an odd (and dangerous) dogleg corner, with a lonely feel to it that makes me imagine the appearance of a small Safeway years ago before the racks went up to the rafters. Outside, bling-bling SUVs block the busy pedestrian crosswalks as they drop inside for their rolling papers and malt liquor. Inside, a lone man sits behind the counter meditatively watching the cobwebs grow in the corners. Beside him is some sort of glass display case that might have held meats or cheeses at a more upscale market - here it contains a few random donuts and a couple bottles of off-brand liquor. The beautiful wooden dairy case is in the back corner, stocking a good and pretty fresh selection of Berkeley Farms product and some eggs. I know there's a lot of canned and bottled and packaged foodstuff on those short shelves, as well as a decent selection of cold intoxicants all along the back wall, but have never partaken in anything other than emergency milk and egg runs here so I can't comment. All in all I am glad to have this bizarre little store available nearby for emergencies. Although there are a couple "drug" stores nearby for such groceries (Rite Aid and Walgreens that really should be called Walmart outposts for the amount of throwaway Chinese-made trinkets they vend), I'm happy to give "Cool Guys" the thumbs-up for plugging along..... read more

I have lived in this neighborhood for many years; this is my neighborhood store; they very much carry just about anything, other than meat, that you would need to get you out of a jam and prepare dinner; their beer is, very, I mean very cold! ..and I just love it! The two brothers are really nice guys and they run a good establishment. As others have noted they have a very wide variety of stuff and you'd be surprised by everything they have in stock.
