We just came back from a 2 night stay at Stanly Ranch and I was compelled to write a review this…read moretime because the service is a lot better than our 2 previous stays. Our first visit was in 2023 when they had just opened less than a year. We stayed in an Arbor Cottage, which was the standalone cottage with a super spacious and luxurious bathroom and outdoor shower. Second stay was in 2025 in which we stayed in the Rambler, which also had a spacious bathrooms and outdoor shower and back patio. Downside was that our room was located all the way at the top of the hill by the employee parking, making it a trek to and from the pool. Our most recent stay was in a Acre room, which I think was the best for our family. It was quite spacious with living area but the bathroom was much smaller than the Arbor and Rambler, with no outdoor shower. But in all honesty, it was perfect because my boys cared more about the swimming pool than anything else. During this last visit, we were immediately greeted by Tom, and Isiah helped with our checkin. They were incredibly attentive and helpful. Our previous visits did not have such a warm checkin experience. I also appreciate that they put us in a room closer to the pool. There really is no reason to leave the ranch once you're checked in. The food onsite is incredible, but pricey (it's nominal considering you're already paying a lot to stay though). I will admit they used to have a great deal where kids eat free, and I wish they brought that back. And a must try is the lavender morning bun from Gavel! It's perfectly flaky, smooth, sweetened just right with the lavender sugar that isn't overwhelming. I wish I had bought more to bring home! Overall this is a wonderful resort worth the splurge, especially for families even if it doesn't seem like it at a first glance. They have a shallow kiddy pool as well, and lots of activities for kids on site. There's also breathtaking views from the adults only pool at Halehouse and from Infinity Hill. Totally recommend the splurge if you can!

Everyone was warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond. The complimentary Mercedes-Benz house cars were an amazing touch and one of our favorite parts of the stay. They are very patient and take time to explain the whys, not just the hows. They also are great about explaining concepts that I don't understand right away, finding different ways to explain or demonstrate the right way to do things to make sure it is the best experience for you and the horse. I feel safe under their instruction, and completely secure on their horse, Cash. He is sweet and calm, but not a pushover - perfect to learn on! Andrea and David's horses obviously love and trust them. I'm happy to be learning from them! For reference, I took lessons as a kid but am in my 30s now; I believe they also have kid students - I'm sure they can do a great job instructing students of any age.

The Vineyard Room is a small dining area adjacent to The View Bar & Grill (another restaurant at the golf course). I'll jump right to it. Things I liked: beautiful area and on sunny days the view is spectacular. There is ample parking. The staff is very courteous and friendly. The food itself is quite good. I had Reuben sandwich with french fries and it was deli-wonderful. Things to know: this place hosts a lot of wedding receptions--and I think weddings--and this can affect what you order. For example, I thought I could order breakfast food slightly after 12:00 pm, but was informed that I could not. I believe the kitchen was switching over to lunch. So, I ordered the fried chicken by was later told that they no longer made that. My guess is that they will eventually update their menu. Our server, Skylar, was apologetic and since my sister was also a No-Go on the fried chicken, offered to check if the kitchen would make breakfast items. Sadly, the answer was still "no" and I told Skylar my second option was the Reuben. My sister had fish tacos. I know that Skylar was only passing along what she was told, so I don't blame her. She also comped me a beer and our table an order of nachos. This was a gracious offer and we accepted it. I'm not an order-off-the-menu guy and I try always to be patient and understanding. I've been in Skylar's shoes before and have had my share of difficult situations. In this situation it is helpful to know that it is a bar & grill and while they have a decent amount of options, it is a little different than a full-service restaurant. Given the fact that it's a destination for wedding parties, it is good to know that your menu options might be limited. Meaning, you might be told that they do not have your first choice. I've always found that being a little understanding goes a long way in your enjoyment of the meal. I tip my cap to Skylar for remaining courteous and friendly even though she kept having to come back and tell us the kitchen couldn't make this or that. This is still a good place to eat. If you pay full price for something, you expect the best quality. If you buy a defective product of any kind, it would only make sense that they would refund you and take it back, or at least replace the product to a non-defective one. They did none of that. "Sorry, we don't take them back". I didn't pay full price to be stuck with your defective inventory. It's crazy how 100 good experiences can all collapse to the ground with a single bad experience. All of a sudden, the store doesn't leave a good impression in me. I don't just buy animals for the heck of having them. I also breed them, and good genes are key.

I contacted Karen at Napa Backyard Chickens and she not only responded in a timely fashion, but graciously answered all of my questions. I took a course in raising backyard chickens with the Institute for Urban Homesteading a week before picking up my chicks from Karen, and found her equally informed and helpful, if not more. Last thing, Karen doesn't have a minimum chick order requirement, so for someone like me who only wanted to raise a small flock but didn't want to ship their chicks all the way out from the East Coast, it really worked out well.
