The croquettes, which are usually a staple item, were completely hollow and served cold -- a clear sign they were either poorly made or sitting out for far too long. On top of that, the Cuban bread was stale and hard, which completely ruined what should have been a fresh, flavorful experience. For a place that prides itself on traditional baked goods, this visit was a major letdown. I expect better quality and consistency, especially when it comes to items that should be fresh daily. This place is a joke! I walked in today (empty with only 1 customer inside and 2 employees) and ordered 4 sandwiches (media noche, pan con lechón, pan con bistec and grilled chicken sandwich) . An hour later I still only have 2 sandwiches, the media noche is missing and the chicken was made wrong ( I ordered grilled chicken and was given fried breaded chicken) 10 min later still waiting for the sandwiches I asked to please give me a refund. I was told my Cuban sandwich was ready (not what I ordered!) I have to leave my name and phone number for the manger to call me for the $10 refund for the chicken sandwich. This is ridiculous. I am seldom as critical of a place, but I have to say that I don't think I'll return. The only reason it's getting two stars is because the workers were very friendly. I guess they must not refresh their pastries throughout the day because it was later in the day, around 4 o'clock, and I picked up some pastries to take to a friend's house. They were all dried out and tasteless. The guayaba in the menesier was like melted plastic. The only thing that was good in the bunch was the pan de bono. there's a rude old lady with the worst attitude she clearly does not want to work here. her coworker had to jump in because she saw how awful she was being. The lady beautiful on her right arm was the one who jumped in and was super kind. It just sucks how one person can really ruin your whole experience. We tried ordering the breakfast in the beginning, and the old lady said that the kitchen was closed in the rudest way possible. Go early so you think your getting fresh pastries but get heated up pastries from the day before. The croquettes tasted only of grease ham taste was nonexistent . It seems like they refry them. Not all Vicky Bakeries are created equal. This location does make good fresh pastries and the desserts are pretty original. I grew up eating only Cuban desserts with recipes that came from Cuba. I wouldn't say it's top notch but they are good. The pastries like pastel de guava are on the little sweeter side which I assume most people may not like but I do. . The staff is why I took off the star. They are just there to do their job and nothing more. They should be a little more friendlier since they are in the service industry. The coffee is okay, it doesn't taste great but it's good. I do love that this place is on the way to my job so that's a perk for me because there are only 2 bakeries on the way and I like this one. I love me some Cuban Bakeries and always so happy when I find a good one! Today while in Miami we found this bakery. The line was long but the staff got through the line fast. Lots of pastries! They ALL looked so good! Hubby and I had a tostada with croquets it's our usual whenever we hit up a Cuban bakery, we also ordered guava pastry, some sweets and bread pudding to go. I can comment that the bread (tostadas) tasted SUPER fresh! Like they just made it, nice and warm with butter. Haven't eaten the pastries yet but the guava is oozing out the sides (which is how I determine a good guava pastry) can't wait to munch on them later. Service was nice, a lil bit of a wait cause it IS packed. But well worth it. The inside is really cute, couple of tables on the inside and out. We don't drink coffee but it did smell good. What's cool is during the pandemic, Yelp has a notice that starts with advising of "extra precautionary measures" restaurants are taking. We ordered some pastries this morning for breakfast as a Sunday morning pick me up. I ordered 2 chicken empanadas, two tequeños, a guava & cheese pastelito, two ham croquetas, and tried their pizza pastelito. My boyfriend took a bite of the empanada, and told me to be careful. Which is not a good sign I think, but then goes on to say, "it's really dry, and tastes old...like, like a week old." I didn't bother. The tequeños were hard and dry. While eating the guava & cheese pastelito, I felt something tickling my hand, and noticed it was a sugar ant. I looked down and noticed another one ON the pastelito. Cool cool. Threw that out too. The pizza pastelito just looked dry and old and soggy. Didn't eat that. Also. WHY WOULD I, WHEN ANTS WERE JUST CRAWLING ON MY FOOD. It all got thrown out. When you list yourself as a bakery, you'd think that baked goods would be fresh and ready at 10am. Since it's the primary food group they sell. Baked goods. The croquetas at least felt fresh, and luckily we ate those first (and didn't know any better). If I'd started with the ant pastelito, those would've been tossed out too. Anyway, this was fucking gross and maybe they should spend some extra time cleaning during a pandemic, like everyone is supposed to. So disappointed. We got pastelitos - carne, guava, guava & cheese and cheese. The carne (meat pastry) was a meatball - literally. It was not picadillo, how it's supposed to be. The cheese pastelito, the block of cream cheese made it impossible to enjoy. The guava and cheese was good. They charged us for 2 pastelitos de guava and only packed 1. Ok. So let me start by saying I hope this is a one time incident. I've been to this location so many times before but never experienced anything bad, at least not that I know of. But here goes... As my daughter is eating her breakfast guava and cheese pastelito, she cracks it open to find a small roach. Apparently it was in there when the pastry cooked because it was a completely closed pastelito before she cracked it open and had even taken a few bites. I'll leave the rest to the pictures. I'm kind of disappointed this happened because it was a place I enjoyed going to. To the establishment: please please please be on the lookout for bugs in your establishment. Especially maybe put your foods away at night when bugs come out. 8/28/2015 I called the store yesterday to notify them of the find. I asked for the owner but I was told the manager and/or owner would not be in until today and that they would be calling me back. The lady on the phone was very understanding, asked me when I bought the pastries and took my number down saying the manager or owner would be calling me back tomorrow (which is today). I visited this bakery in desperate need of coffee and pastries. I ordered a cortadito, empanada de carne, and croqueta. As I'm telling the person my order she's walking away getting the items and making me have to call it out over the person next to me...but okay. I got my order very fast, but maybe a little too fast. Both the croqueta and empanada were cold and hot in various places. I personally didn't like the empanada de carne. The croqueta may have been decent if not cold. The location is good, and the seating area is pretty big. Parking is easy. My son and I weren't impressed, but will return to see if it was an off day since we are often in the area. Nothing like biting into a pastelito and tasting the filling in each and every bite from beginning to end. The BEST pastelitos in Miami. They're all massive and stuffed to capacity.
