I ordered the blackened catch of the day tacos, and they were delicious--the fish was seasoned just right, and the mango salsa gave them the perfect fresh, sweet kick. The side salad was crisp and fresh, and everything came out quickly. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Came this morning right when they opened for Mothers day brunch. We sat at the bar since we didn't have reservations. Sam made me two excellent mojitos. I had my fav shrimp Diablo. It wasn't as spicy as usual but still pretty good. My friend had steak and eggs. It only had a few small steak tips. She was very disappointed as it came as a sandwich. Sam took 50% off her bill so she appreciated that. We always love coming here. Was just not as great as usual. read more

My review is not about the food. It's praise for how our problem was resolved. A few months ago we experienced a problem with our bill, which was partially our fault. When our charge account came in we noticed a problem; I called and they had the manager call back. Courteous and resolved to our satisfaction! I compare that to a restaurant in New Bern that served my wife a meal that she was unable to eat and the waitress and manager could care less. He stated "that's the way we've made that since we opened years ago". Well, we've eaten that food in several places and NONE ever made it that way. The second was in Wilmington. When I complained the manager said "why don't you show us how to make it". May I add neither my wife or I are "fussy" diners So, Five+ stars for Cape Fear and I just made a reservation for my party of four. read more

My partner and I shared a nice New Years meal here. First off, I want to point out that the service was great, and the restaurant has a lovely and fun atmosphere. However, I think the food was a bit underwhelming. I got the saltimbocca while my partner got the broiled seafood platter, and we shared crab legs. The crab legs were pretty good.. I think crab legs are overpriced in general, but I was craving them for a while, and the price here was fair. I wish there was some way to keep the meat hot throughout xD I actually loved everything about the saltimbocca except the fish. lol. It was pretty overcooked, and I honestly forgot it had prosciutto until I looked at other reviews post meal. I think the broiled seafood platter had potential. The scallops were cooked perfectly, but the other seafood was lacking a bit of flavor. We also agreed that the asparagus was undercooked. I think the best prepared part of our meal was actually the hush puppies. Was just passing through Wilmington, so probably won't get a chance to come back. However, the hush puppies were so well fried, I wish we had ordered some fried seafood instead. read more

Had an awesome dinner with friends while visiting Leland. It was on a Friday night around 7 PM and the wait was about 30 minutes. The restaurant is very clean and cozy. There was ample parking and the ambiance was of a higher end restaurant. The service was good. Food came out quickly. Our waitress was friendly and prompt. She kept water glasses full and checked on us frequently. She made recommendations and seemed knowledgeable about the menu. The food was absolutely delicious. While they have a small beer menu, the selections are good. We ordered some calamari with marinara sauce. The sauce was one of the best I have had and had a sweetness to it. We also ordered hush puppies. They were very hot and crispy outside with a tender and tasty inside. For dinner I had the Lemon Pepper Scallops. They were perfectly cooked with just a slight blackened seasoning and a lemon butter sauce. The risotto cakes were good but not as good as the creamy risotto my wife had. My wife and I also split the Pot au Chocolat which was very tasty but thick and rich. It could have been split among all four of us as a bite or two was all that was needed. A side note.. the waitress mentioned their shrimp and grits were rated top 5 in NC. Our friend tried them and was not disappointed. He said they were the best he has had. read more

I visited this small chain in NC during a recent work trip. Their main menu has a lot of good options. They also have a seasonal menu with food and drink choices. During my visit, they had 3 fresh catches: salmon, mahi and swordfish. I ended up ordering the grilled swordfish with asparagus and green beans. It wasn't exactly cheap. For starters, they give you French bread at the beginning, which is a small section of a loaf. Their loaf has a much smaller diameter than French bread served in seafood restaurants back in Louisiana or Texas, for reference. The rest of our table ordered the fried dishes and a grilled Mahi. Everyone pretty much cleaned their plates so it seems everyone enjoyed their food. I didn't notice gumbo on the soup menu, but then again, NC isn't exactly the south. Their dessert menu, which was tempting, had 2 choices for chocolate lovers. My clients say they have several locations in NC, 3 of which are in the Wilmington area. read more

I'd probably start off by recommending having a reservation but the wait for a table isn't too bad. They are conveniently located close to a few area hotels which is nice for the weary traveler. Heard this is the place for quality seafood in Leland. Finally went here with the family last week. The waitstaff is very friendly, so that was nice. The fried okra did not taste fresh at all, kind of mushy and didn't have parm on it, 4.5 out of 10. The mussels were a HIT!! Great flavor, lots of buttery sauce, 9.0 The roasted red pepper and crab bisque had a really nice flavor, but alas, there was about 2 teaspoons of crab in it. So sad, 7.0 The shrimp and grits tasted good, but that's a high bar, being you should be making a great shrimp & grits if you put it on your menu in this part of the country. It's not near as good as I've had around here, but still, 7.0 Both the girls had the salmon with risotto. Risotto was good, but both pieces of fish were overcooked. If your a seafood place, cooking the fish correctly is a must. Sorry, 5.0 My son had the flounder and, again, the crab tasted like it was canned and the fish was overcooked, 4.0 Since Yelp only has 5 stars instead of 10, I had to mark down so people wouldn't think it was a good meal. 3 out of 5 is just above average. Very nice service from the pleasant and attentive women bartenders. Corvina was one of the catch of the day specials (two of three - corvina might have been fresh, the other two choices were almost certainly frozen) and I ordered it grilled. It was perfectly cooked and delicious - excellent. My friend said the chowder was not good. The salad greens were ok. Dressing was good. Fries were great. We made a late reservation and it seemed all the staff seemed tired. We waited 15 minutes for an already open booth. I asked twice for malt vinegar, grated Parmesan cheese and bread. My dish was a glob of pasta with minimal seafood. The hush puppy order needs to be half of what they serve - who needs that many carbs?! Even the hostess seemed annoyed when we reminded them as we couldn't get the attention of the server. They need to follow-up after a meal is served to make sure it's acceptable. I've tried this place three times now and I'm still not impressed with the food. The salad was heavy on the dressing. The "comeback" sauce on the sandwich was weird and didn't actually come on the sandwich or on the plate, I had to ask for it. The fries had some seasoning on it. The drink was amazingggg. My friend took me here while I was visiting Leland NC in January 2024. The. Food. Was. AMAZING!!! I ordered their famous shrimp and grits. Ate every last drop. It was creamy and smoky. I was only sad that there was barely any bacon in mine. The crap dip and pita chips were amazing. Super creamy and decadent. They also have complimentary bread and whipped butter. Their apple cider cocktails were delicious! The blueberry dessert was perfect. Not overly sweet and the blueberries were fresh. The salmon pasta was creamy and super filling. It needed some salt and pepper tho. All in all, I highly recommend this spot. Can't wait to come again and try something new when I'm in the area again! read more

We ordered: 2 fish sandwiches, shrimp and grits, the fried platter, fried shrimp, chowder, red pepper & lobster bisque, salads, shrimp tacos, fish tacos, sliders. I ordered an appetizer as my entire - steak tips & grilled shrimp with chimichurri and it was great! The steak was tender and the shrimp cooked perfectly. It's not a fresh seafood restaurant. We asked if the fish saltimbocca dish could be prepared without the prosciutto on it and were told "no", that is how it comes prepared, which screams pre packaged frozen meal. We ordered 2 large roasted red pepper lump crabmeat soups and a large salad with blackened chicken. The soup bowls were less than half full, and the crabs must have swam out of the soup pot before it finished cooking because there was NO meat in it. The soup was so salty we almost couldn't eat it - I mean it made me pucker up - Im sure I'll have double up on my BP meds later tonight. The large entree salad was only marginally bigger than the small side salad. The added on chicken was a thin little half of a breast fillet , for the extra 8.99 you would expect a reasonable amount of chicken .
