My husband and I were so excited to try Capers because of all of the positive reviews and comments on Yelp and Google. We made reservations and once we arrived were seat immediately. The service and food unfortunately I can only rate three stars. We ordered as shown in the photos the crab fingers, crab and shrimp pasta and the Mississippi catfish with sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts everything lacked flavor! We were highly disappointed. The food was very bland and we were not impressed. The best part of the meal was our dessert which was the toasted strawberry pound cake, it was delicious! First of all l have eaten at this place several times and have never had a complaint until today. I ordered the Herb crusted grouper with green beans and mashed sweet potatoes. The fish was over seasoned to a point l couldn't eat it, the green beans were mixed with fresh and old beans and the fresh beans were served cold and undercooked plus the sweet potatoes were so whipped they were runny and stringy. My meal was horrible in presentation and in taste to a point where l thought the business had changed ownership. I did inquire about the owners whereabouts and was told the chef had passed away and the wife doesn't come in as often. So my recommendation to anyone who loved this place as much as l did is to wait until a new chef comes on board then try them again. read more

This is the 3rd time I have been to Capers. The previous times were exceptional. Today was my 23rd anniversary, and the choice was out of Pappadeauxs or Capers, and I told my husband Capers. The service was not outstanding at all. We placed our order appetizers and all. We received the appetizers, but the actual main entree we never received until I noticed the group that came in about 20 minutes after us had received their entree, and we were still waiting. I advise of this and I was told they had to check to see what was going on. We arrived there at 4:45 and did get our order until 7:30. I came Capers to have a nice sit down meal with my husband but land up taking my meal as a to go because I didn't plan on being at a restaurant for four hours. I still like Capers, but I'm not sure if this will be my top choice of restaurants to visit in the future. read more

Eclectic mix of people and waitstaff. Food was great with many different options for omnivores, vegetarians, and pescatarians. Not good for vegans, though. In any event, I had the salmon salad with the mashed sweet potatoes side. My friend had the house salad with the tempura fried chicken added. Caper's never disappoints! I hosted a surprise birthday dinner for my son at this hidden gem in 2018 and I've been hooked ever since. My absolute favorite dish is the Grilled Pork Chop w/creamed spinach and sweet potatoes. But the menu has so many great choices! Anything you order is going to make your mouth water. From the moment you walk in the door the hosts are so welcoming and the servers are extremely attentive. Bring your special someone or bring the entire family! I sat in the bar area and my server was really great. I started with a glass of wine and the stuffed mushrooms and shrimp and corn bisque. Both came out piping hot and were sooo delicious! This was my first time & I'd have to say with the hype, im not impressed. Its like an upscale restaurant meets dollar tree honestly. The paper on the table gives juicy crab, not upscale. The food was decent, the creamed spinach had no cream in it & they dont serve regular mash potatoes which was a bummer. Driving thru and decided to try Caper's. What a great place. It's an upscale but relaxed place with a broad menu. I had the crap cakes. My wife had the trout. She had a cocktail and I had coffee. Inside: dim lighting, can be intimate, also great for families. Parking: parking lot is shared with Publix, so there's plenty of parking. Service: our service was amazing. Our waiters name was Kai. He noticed that the hostesses placed us in a section that had no server, and he took it upon himself to come help us. He was great with knowledge of the menu, he got our food and drinks to us quickly. He made this experience a 10/10 Food: the food was amazing per usual. Everything was so hot and fresh. We didn't have to wait long for anything. I enjoy coming to capers because of the staff, the food, and the music is always great. We never leave disappointed. This restaurant is another one of my "must visit" places and it did not disappoint. I walked in and was warmly greeted and given several seating options. I chose to seat at the bar and was pleased that she was kind enough to sit me where I could see the television. Most don't take that into consideration. I ordered the crab fingers appetizer and stuffed flounder entree. The sauce that accompanied the garlic sautéed crab fingers was divine!! *pandemic review* My family and I have been going to Capers for years-but Capers has especially shined during the pandemic. In particular, their packaging, food prep, and pick-up operation is seamless. The meals are packaged in containers that keep the food separated from other parts of the dish to prevent running and are easy to identify. Additionally, the pick-up was easy, as servers brought the food right out to our car. Of course, because this is a pandemic review I always go with the catfish because it reheats perfectly in the airfryer. Airfryer aside, the catfish at Capers is a truly excellent dish. I also very much enjoy their crab cakes. Inside (and post and pre pandemic) the bar atmosphere is great and they offer a fun but not overwhelming vibe with a good pour-which is especially nice to see in Marietta. Capers's greatest strength is also their weakness. Although the menu is inviting and delicious; the menu is resistant to change. Capers has largely been immune to change because the menu does offer versatile options upon first glance. This anemic reaction is most evident in the accoutrement. The creamed corn, creamed spinach, au gratin potatoes, and brussel sprouts with bacon hollandaise are fun, but in essence all the same-cream. Capers is likely aware of this issue because Capers pejoratively added pictures to their online menu. While thick with options, the herb crusted grouper, sauteed trout, and encrusted parmesan chicken all look the exact same. The formula at capers seems to revolve around a singular dish and prep style with a protein substitution. My favorites, (the crabcakes and fried catfish) are dishes that I do not typically make at home; others such as steak, ribs, and grilled salmon are eye-catching but common enough to never provoke a dietary response. Overall, Capers is a great restaurant and one that I patronize at least once a month. But if I increased my Capers consumption, the days will all blend together into one long menu. read more

I was in the area with the intent to visit another establishment on the Saturday before Easter. Lucky for me, they closed for the entire Easter holiday. Since I have diner at this restaurant a number of times, and love supporting black owned businesses, I knew I would just grab a bite to eat from here. It was mid afternoon and they were pretty slow. I opted to dine at the Bar. The bar is located to the left once you enter the restaurant. It actually looks like a beautifully decorated home that just happens to have a bar as its center piece. There is ample seating from couches to counter height stools. There is also a lovely piano in this space. It's a great space for so much-- bring a date, a business partner, the family or just yourself! The bartender was friendly when she eventually got around to taking my order. This was my one complaint. There was one party of two wrapping up when I sat down. There was really no reason for the delayed service. However, I am not going to remove points because during all of my other visits the service was on point! I ordered the herb crusted grouper half serving with mashed sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts. This meal was everything I needed it to be. I cleaned my plate, and actually felt full from the half serving. The full serving must be fit for two people! After finishing up my main course I was super excited to order the bread pudding! I have had this dessert so many times that my mouth was watering for it the moment I sat at the bar. Let me attempt to describe it for you. It has a slight firmness, but also melt in your mouth texture. The flavors of pineapples and raisins make for a sweet, but not to sweet taste-- then you add the bourbon sauce!!! The portion size can easily accommodate 2-3 people. I really wanted to eat every bit of it but knew I would feel guilty later, so I wasted about half. It's has the perfect Southern hospitality , large dining room and cleanliness that we all want in a restaurant. The food is always solid and the menu has enough items to please anyone. Love the New Zealand lamb , and the Herb crusted grouper! Au gratin potatoes and the green beans are my favorite sides. Also recommend the Hawaiian ribeye and baby back ribs. Caper's is probably the best restaurant in Kennesaw, not to mention, it's Black Owned Baby!!!! My family & I always frequent the restaurant. The pasta's are good, the stuffed chicken is delicious and they're salads are very good as well! They also offer brunch too and of course it's delicious! Especially the donut rolls with the strawberry spread! This day I got the blackened spicy salmon pasta, the full portion and it was more than enough! Well, by the pic you can tell it was delicious! Haha. The lamb chop lollipop meal is delicious as well and any form of mashed potato you can NEVER go wrong. I'm not sure if they still offer the wasabi mashed potatos, but if they do, GET THEM! I ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, they give you 3 for$16. They were good,not $16 good. My meal consisted of the Hawaiian ribeye,mashed sweet potatoes and green beans. The steak and sweet potatoes were great,the green beans needed more seasoning. My mother had parmesan crusted chicken,sweet potatoes and cucumber salad. Longhorns chicken is better and for some reason the salad was sweet. The bread pudding desert was delicious. Came here for a friends birthday dinner and this was my second time ever visiting . Capers is a black owned family business so I'm grateful i was able to support in the midst of a pandemic. The ambience is always nice the food is always hot and fresh and the drinks are always flowing . Even tho it was close to closing we couldn't tell because there was no disruption in service at all. You can also bring your own cake and the little party room area we were able to bring in decorations. I tasted some of the tables appetizers and everything was good especially the calamari.
