After reading the reviews here on Yelp, I decided to call Capital out to replace my chimney cap that had lifted in the recent wind storms. After inspecting the cap, they explained that part of my crown had decayed which was the underlying cause of the cap lifting. They also informed me that some of the mortar joints had opened up, with the potential to cause more damage to the chimney overall if left un-tended. There was no pressure at any point, which aided my decision. I gave them the approval, and an hour later they were done. The next day I received an emailed reciept complete with before and after pictures. I can't be happier with the piece of mind that my chimney is water-tight again. I have since recommended them to my mother whose chimney is in need of some tuckpointing, and will definitely be calling on Capital again if I have any other issues. read more

I found this company on Yelp by reading reviews of two companies I had come out and give estimates on restoring my wood burning chimney to working condition. Calling the office the staff was very friendly and set up an appointment for Dominic to inspect my chimney. I had it inspected when I bought my house and knew it needed a new liner and tuck pointing work on the exterior. As a home inspector I am some what familair when the process of restoring a chimney. Dominic explained what needed to be done and how and when and how long. The day before the work was to start the office called to remind me of the start date. Derek and John did the restoration work and called the day of when they were a half hour away. The work was completed as they said, they took great care of my lawn and the interior of the house when they were working inside. I can't say enough about how glad I was that I called Capital Chimney to do some work for us. I had a different chimney company out to do a cleaning and inspection on our two chimneys. They flagged several issues and wrote up a quote that seemed high. The other company also told us that they couldn't complete the work for almost 2 months. I called Capital Chimney and scheduled an appointment. They came in and inspected our chimneys. They wrote up a quote for the work and came in at almost half the price that the other company had quoted. They also had the parts to do almost all of the work on their truck and were able to complete most of the work the same day that they were out. They came out a few days later to finish the one item that they couldn't get to while they were out on their initial visit. We worked with Dave. He was super professional and knowledgeable. My experiences with Capital Chimney have been top notch thus far. They excel at customer service in two critical ways: their technicians educate without talking down to you, and they "own" the end to end service process rather than nickel and diming you along the way. I purchased a home with an old and neglected chimney that required a nontrivial amount of structural repair. I was informed that even with the repairs I may still experience some smoke spillage out of the firebox and into the living room, which turned out to be true. We are in the process of troubleshooting that issue (capacity? pressure?). Rather than charging me for all the incremental work that *might* solve the issue, their approach is to charge for the solution that actually works. I'm still a little shocked to find a company that practices this philosophy. I highly, highly recommend. read more

Always get my fireplace and chimney cleaned by a local fireplace company. Bought a free inspection and cleaning at a fundraiser...wow, what a surprise! Capital Chimney came out in just one week to repair our appliance chimney that vents exhaust from our furnace boiler and hot water heater. This chimney was entirely blocked, something we only discovered because we had a working CO detector in the basement. The first chimney repair company we called out to check on water leaking back in the chimney did not check to see that it was operating properly. Our plumber did a rough job of opening it up and then we changed to Capital Chimney for complete repair and relining. They not only did a great job of fixing this problem and beautiful vent work, but they redid the prior company's poor job on the top of the chimney and exterior waterproofing. read more

i just had my chimney tuck pointed and partially rebuilt by the team at Capital and can highly recommend them. Last year I got three bids for this work and although Capital was the middle bid in terms of pricing, I chose them to do the work this spring because of their honesty, customer service and knowledge of what needed to be done. They explain everything and do not try to oversell . Pictures are taken before and after and are submitted to you. They could have easily said the entire chimney needed to be torn down and replaced but they stated only half needed to be replaced and they would match the brick, etc. and they did. All of the staff from Aaron on the phone who took the appointment, to the guy who came and did the estimate to the two crew members who did the work were all so polite and professional.
