The cap to our furnace vent on our roof had fallen off. I called Capital Chimney as well as another company to price shop. The difference in service and level of professionalism was like night and day. The first company that came out was an hour late. They took one look from the ground and quoted me a price. I asked if they could go up there to assess the damage before quoting me and he refused. And so did I... My experience with Capital Chimney was so much better. They were able to come out quickly. Derick, was very professional and knowledgeable. He introduced himself first, and then went up to take a look at what's going on. While up there he took some pictures to show me. Basically, the cap was old and rusted off. While he was up there he also noticed rusting around the chimney and offered to fix that too. The whole job was done in about an hour. Which was pretty fast and the price was good. I love that he provided beore and after pictures, and took the time to explain what was going on. They provided a thorough estimate with options for work to be done asap and work that could wait. They also provided tons of details and images from inside/around the chimney and fireplace. They broke down estimates into a few options which was helpful when taking into consideration the cost. The range of opinions were vast as were the levels of professionalism. Some did not bring a ladder tall enough to get to my roof. Capital Chimney was very professional. They were thorough, documented everything and provided me images of everything going on up on my chimney including the family of birds living up there. There were a couple of newborns in there. They visually explained everything that needed to be done and provided an estimate. They also provided images of other issues on the roof and provided a good referral of someone who could do emergency patching at a reasonable price. I contacted Capital to inspect my chimney for a seepage problem at the basement clean out, during a heavy rain. Dominic & Jorge called on the morning of my appointment, advising they would arrive an hour early. Upon arrival, they thoroughly inspected the chimney & caps, as well as the clean out. Afterwards Dominic related that in his experience, the seepage was caused by a crack somewhere in the foundation, between the patio level & the basement. I've lived in my condo in the Uptown neighborhood for 2 and 1/2 years and haven't had our wood burning fireplace serviced since moving in. Who knows how long the previous owners went. Before we got too deep into the winter months, I needed to schedule an inspection and cleaning. This was my first time actually using Yelp to contact a company for a quote, rather than calling the direct. What was nice about that was after I selected my top choice and asked my rate/schedule question, Yelp offered to send the same inquiry to other top companies, all I had to do was check which ones I wanted to contact. That was a really nice and convenient function. I sent my inquiry to four companies and only two replied back to me. The first one to reply was my top choice and the second to reply (very quickly after the first, both fast) was Capital Chimney. The first company sent a curt and sloppy response and Andrew from Capital sent a professional, friendly, and informative response. Not only did he actually answer all the questions I asked, he provided even more detail about what their service entailed. My next step was to call them direct to set up the actual time. Andrew answered the phone. I gotta say, after I scheduled my appointment, I hung up the phone with him and immediately turned to a coworker and said, "Now that's how you conduct a business". It's incredibly sad that I'm so blown away by a customer service person being courteous, helpful, and, it bears repeating, PROFESSIONAL, but I was. So, Andrew, thank you, seriously. I tried others but couldn't find someone who could do the job. A few months later, playing around with Yelp, I somehow sought out multiple "bids" to address my situation. Huge fan. They came out to do my chimney inspection and cleaning and then even took the time to sit down with me and explain some additional issues with my system that I should bring up to my HOA. The price was so reasonable. I think I got a special deal but it was like $160 for the cleaning/inspection. They were courteous and also very clean given the job. They laid down tarp and wore booties, and they were nice to my dog as well! I really recommend them. They also made a couple suggestions for little things I could do on my own to improve my system like sealing my gas line and buying a better rack for wood. Great company. read more

Had an emergency (carbon monoxide buildup in basement due to water heater exhaust system being blocked or so we thought)- they were able to move things around and come the next day. Dominic and his team quickly assessed and fixed the problem that day! As with most things in our building, the scumbag developer didn't pitch the exhaust pipes properly or even use the right size pipes. They replaced them at a reasonable cost and got everything working again - although it still not an ideal setup. Gave us several ideas for fixing the problem permanently.
