They had moved from Town and Country Center. I'm glad they were on "Good Day" so we could find their almost hidden store on Loma Vista. I've never had truffles this great. We picked out 10 different truffles and brought them home to enjoy. Each truffle is large enough to share. The flavored ganache is perfect, not too sweet, just creamy. I really liked the cherry and raspberry truffles the best, but then we didn't get all of the flavors. The bag of Raspberry Bark didn't last very long, either. They use fresh raspberry purée on the thin chocolate bark. Delicious! We will definitely be going back soon. read more

This is based on one visit. I won't be back for a second. It's not that my first visit was bad but that there is no reason to go back; there are much better options nearby. The service was wasn't unfriendly but it wasn't friendly either. I didn't feel any sense of a welcome. It felt like I was just one customer in a parade of customers , even though I was the only one in the shop. The confections that we tried were good. Last year I tried Le Grand Confectionery for my annual Christmas sweets (previous years include Candy House of Davis) and decided to try Capital Confections this year. Ginger Elizabeth's and Andy's Apothecary are very good too for the Sacramento area, and Kobasic's also makes the top lists of Sweet Treats, but CC won out for 2015. Placed an online order for the 4-piece ($11) and 9-piece ($24.50) assorted chocolate flavor truffle boxes for pickup at the store (instead of paying for shipping). The store is really cute, located in Town & Country Village at the corner of Fulton and Marconi. Parking wasn't too bad, with 20-minute spaces right alongside. Yelp check-in gets you a truffle and small gelato for $5, there's also a $20 for $25 Yelp Deal. The lady behind the counter, Teresa, was quick to help me with my order. There may be some trouble with the online ordering system but hopefully that gets fixed soon. The boxes are very nice, lids have "windows" to see the truffles -- I had asked for green ribbon when placing the order but got Christmasy red/gold/green ribbon instead which is fine. Those truffles are massive! If I had more time to peruse the store, and the weather wasn't so wintry, I'd go for some gelato. read more

This is my first review on yelp. I was so impressed it was worth the effort. I've recently started shopping at Trader Joes in the Town and Country plaza. I've driven by this shop a few times. It is tucked away with unassuming signage, which is the only negative. I needed a host gift so I bought dessert wine a TJ and went in for chocolate. I had a budget and wanted truffles. The owner (?) helped me, not only selecting the right truffles to go with wine, but I had limited budget that she worked with. I believe she gave me a $50 box if truffles for $35. The packaging was classy with a personalized ribbon selection. There was gelato and other chocolates and lots of great gift ideas. The truffles were so decadent and amazing! I am so happy with the service and the product. I've sampled Ginger Elizabeth and this is just as delicious! I am bummed about location because I think it might be causing problem with business. If they had a midtown location like Ginger Elizabeth they will get more foot traffic. I love feeling like I found a gem but I want this business to thrive. Great handmade chocolate! We received an exceptionally nice gift of a couple dozen of these tasty truffles from a client and everyone in the office was so impressed with them! The way that the chocolate truffles were packaged was ten times nicer than just giving a plain box of chocolates, it was really fun unwrapping everything! (See picture) The chocolates looked really fancy and expensive which was impressive! Our assortment came with a lot of dark chocolate truffles which was nice, but it would have been nicer to have more of a variety. Maybe it was just the assortment we had, but we didn't have many fruit truffles, bordeaux truffles, etc but they were good anyways! I just found out that they also do birthday parties and tours - the guests get to dip their own chocolate in the 'factory.' (They make their own chocolate on site.) When planning my mother's 90th birthday party I turned to Yelp to find the perfect chocolate truffle to give as a party favor. I selected Capital Confections, and that was one of the best decisions that I made for this special occasion. I met with the owner, Teresa, and after trying several flavors of delectable truffles, I chose the Grand Marnier truffle. This truffle is the perfect balance of orange liqueur and delectable dark chocolate. Capital Confections' truffles are hand-rolled, and for my taste, are superior to the dome-shaped waxy truffles that I have received as Valentine's Day and anniversary gifts. Sorry honey! I used hydrangeas as the theme of mother's party, and wanted the favors to enhance the table decorations. Teresa's creations surpassed my expectations! She suggested the perfect plum colored boxes, and selected just the right coordinating ribbons. The addition of hydrangea blossoms to the tops of the boxes completed the elegant perfection. Not only was each favor a thing of beauty, but the party guests remarked that they had never eaten more scrumptious truffles. Teresa was a pleasure to work with! Even though our birthday celebration was small, I felt that Teresa gave me as much attention as she would have given someone planning a large wedding. Gelato! Came in in a warm day randomly seeing the gelato sign, and this place smelled amazing, all the chocolates! We were greeted by a super friendly and helpful lady. We were out shopping and decided to stop here for a gelato break. Apparently we had come on a bad day which was a Thurs., the day before their next gelato shipment delivery. Most of their gelato was down to the bare bottom of the containers. They offer 8 varieties but we could only select from 4 flavors. I was in the mood for something fruity, so my only choice was strawberry. The gelato was OK, but tasted pretty much like strawberry ice cream with the same consistency. You get a decent scoopful that was worth the money when compared to other gelato places. But I was still disappointed that I couldn't try some of the other flavor options. It is a cute candy shop but seemed a bit pricey for most of their chocolate selections. Although one can understand that times are hard and I can only imagine selling sweets for a living and trying to make ends meet! The best chocolates in Sacramento. Period. No Joke. This guy makes chocolate everything, and chocolate dipped everything. And its all the best ive ever had. In particular his truffles are amazing. He has a wide variety of truffles all made by hand. The gelato is excellent, but i go in particular for his peanut butter cups. Real skippy peanut butter in dark chocolate. Man those are good, you don't even know, unless you've had them. They are friendly, their prices are very reasonable for the top notch quality you get, and they can even do custom orders for chocolate dipped anything. Seriously i cant drive by this place without stopping and getting something. He also does chocolate machine rentals for parties, or you can book his kitchen for a chocolate dipping event with a group. occasionally he does classes too. The first reason I'm giving it 4 stars is the espresso gelato was slightly grainy--the other flavors I tried were not, so perhaps it was just that one batch that was less creamy than usual. The second reason for 4 stars is that there are no tables inside which is perfect for summer weather only. In 1998 we used these guys for our wedding favors and everyone raved about them. We came in for a class last week for my wife's birthday and also totally loved it. Craig is a true master of his craft. We left with a ton to tasty treats and got an unexpected world class education on chocolates. Highly recommend it!! After a particularly satisfying late lunch with my boyfriend, I really wanted dessert, so we used my trusty Yelp app and found this highly-rated shop. The success kid meme literally represented my reaction when I discovered that this shop sold gelato AND truffles AND had a Yelp Deal going on! Because this shop is located in/next to a shopping plaza, we had a difficult time finding the shop but ended up asking directions from trusty Trader Joes employees and found out that it's actually at the opposite end from the Trader Joes/Starbucks at the intersection. Then we stepped into chocolate heaven. While I definitely would not have purchased the gelato ($5 for a medium, which looked like a 8 or 10 oz serving? and slightly too much at regular price) at normal price, I did enjoy the Spumoni very much. It tasted like a perfectly smooth, creamy, and flavorful concoction of chocolate covered cherries, even though we had to hustle to finish it before it melted in warm Sacramento temperatures. Their display of the chocolates was pretty impressive and definitely rivals that of franchised chocolate companies such as Ghiradelli, Godiva, or Sees. In fact, after seeing and tasting the truffles here, I can confidently say that I like what I had more than I like chocolate at Godiva or Sees (my usual go-to places when the chocolate cravings hit). The truffles are nearly twice the size/volume of the Godiva/Sees chocolates, the ganache actually taste smoother and creamier, and the truffle itself was at a perfect sweetness for me - so satisfying! We ended up going over the Yelp Deal value, which was definitely fine with me because the nice lady at the counter actually let me know when I was approaching $10. Overall, their prices are high for myself personally but are reasonable for "gourmet" options. I was more than happy with the service and quality of their products and so I will be back again for their truffles if I am in the area or interested in purchasing chocolate for special events. read more

The place is quaint. The owner wasnt very friendly when we walked in. I looked around and saw the gelato which didn't look very appetizing. Bought my grandson a cute Halloween chocolate box. My sister and i wanted a piece of the toffee candy. We asked for two pieces. We left and took a bite. They ought to be ashamed of themselves. It tasted horrible. It was so stale!!! I don't know how long it had been sitting there, but to brag about everything being hand made.. It was just awful... I hope my grandsons item is at least edible. My friend and I randomly stumbled across this shop today which just so happened to be Halloween! This place is super cute and festive inside, they have many different treats to choose from. Everything is packaged perfectly & very organized. The chocolates are so detailed, you can tell a lot of time and care was put into making them. The owner is extremely sweet and chatted with us as we shopped around. I purchased a few chocolate ghosts for my colleagues and my friend got a Halloween goodie bag, the owner was kind enough to give us a chocolate ghost on the house which was much appreciated! The lady who took my order at Capital Confections looked at me from head to toe and told me she was displeased that I was using a reusable shopping bag from "Walmart " to carry out her precious "high end" chocolates and was reluctant to place them in the bag. I told her I'm saving our planet by reusing a shopping bag and it should not matter what kind of shopping bag I use. I was offended and she also told me I cannot use multiple coupons from yelp at the same day. Nevertheless she pretty much made sure I did not get back there at all since she already judged that I cannot afford to pay for her chocolates because they are so "high end expensive".
