We had to work through a lot of details especially with the addition (permitting, pouring foundation, etc.) and the team was helpful and patient throughout. When we encountered some challenging issues with the siding project (demo from the siding caused minor interior damage and an exterior hose spigot was accidentally cut), the team resolved the issues appropriately. The workers try to be careful but unexpected things happen and the team/William were quick to fix things! Quality of cabinets, quality of windows, quality of countertops, etc. In terms, of materials, I had no idea what I would be signing onto. I quickly passed. I am picking the project up again on the kitchen and a shower update. The kind of estimates that I am considering are: ballpark figure. 5% upfront charge, design process to narrow down exact costs. More detailed contract arrangement. I would avoid and certainly do not put 50% down on a kitchen project without a design and specifications.

I have so much room, I still have empty drawers. In one of the pictures, you can see the tile baseboards. The rest of the hose was also painted, but what a wonderful job they did. My kitchen cabinets look brand new. Everything was painted from the ceiling to the crown molding and the walls and baseboards. All beautifully finished. There is not one thing I am not happy with. This review is warning to what can potentially happen if you take contractors at their word…read more I reached out Austin Pergola Company in order to see if a carport would be feasible in my neighborhood. There are many carports in my neighborhood that were similar to what I envisioned on the side of my lot. They told me to send them a survey of my home and we would discuss over the phone if it was possible. This should have been the first RED FLAG. In all my questions that involved permitting Lauren would always make sure the discussion was over the phone. On our phone call I was assured that they could install the carport with no issue. They said I could get a permit, but was not required based on the size of the carport. In reality the City of Austin requires ANY structure attached to your house to be permitted! The size is irrelevant! My other concern was that the carport would get too close to the neighboring property. Aaron said based off the survey and on-site visit they did, this would not be an issue. They said they would build a carport with no overhang and they could use my existing driveway in order to avoid going onto the neighboring property. What instead happened is the carport was built with an overhang that went onto my neighbor's property by 4-6 inches. When my neighbor went to sell their home this caused issues for them and they reported the overhang to the city. When I tried to get the carport permitted I was surprised to find that it was basically un-permittable. There are NO exceptions to the 5 foot side setback in Austin! This was contrary to what Austin Pergola told me over the phone. They had told me everything would be done up to code and I could get it permitted if I wanted. I assumed that Austin Pergola Company would know the rules around permitting pergolas/carports within the City of Austin. This company really shouldn't be advising people about permitting and surveys if they have no idea what they are talking about. In all likelihood they do know the rules, they are banking on the fact that most of the time any issues pop up after they have already been paid. In Texas, contractors are not required to have a general contracting license. This means if you are working with unlicensed contractors (such as Austin Pergola Company), they are held to no standard (unlike electricians/plumbers). You as the homeowner are essentially the general contractor at that point. So you have to keep them in line. You have to know all the rules about permitting. You will have to make sure they construct your project on your property. I assumed when you are spending over 10k on a project they take care of you, but that simply isn't the case. If the project you are considering is at all attached to your home or anywhere close to 5 feet from the border of your property I would highly recommend using a different company. Try to find a contractor that will obtain the necessary permits. If a company is unwilling to obtain permits for their own work, it should be a red flag that the work they are doing may be difficult/impossible to permit. At the very least make sure you get everything discussed in writing. Any discussion over the phone and not in the contract is basically irrelevant. Do not take their word about anything related to permitting or surveys. No matter what they tell you issues do come up. I was able to use the carport for only 3 months before I had to take it down and I am now out over $10,000 on this project. While the gutters were at a higher price point than competitors, it was well worth the investment - I am certain had I gone with a cheaper option my gutters would not have survived more than a few months with the amount of water pressure they need to handle. Sam recommended an option that would give me long-term peace-of-mind. Their recent work on my windows was a complete redesign of my bedroom windows. Sam gave me his honest opinion and recommendation the entire way, helping me feel confident with each step of the process. The previous window design was the worst feature of my home, the work of Custom Solutions has completely transformed the design of my bedroom and home exterior into a space I absolutely love. I will definitely be using them again, they are trustworthy, honest, and produce high quality work.

Instead of being annoyed at the idea of the time and costs to send a crew again, he was reassuringly chipper and said not to worry because revisits are to be expected in construction work. Coming with a sense of ease from the owner, this attitude alone is enough to make me confident to be a repeat [detail-oriented] customer. - Because some rot can't be discovered until construction starts, Gabriel mindfully added buffers to the measurements as a precaution. Still, some areas didn't need replacements (which I assumed I'd eat the costs) and other areas needed more replacements (which I assumed I'd be charged), and Frank figured they more or less canceled each other out. Zero extra charges. Zero nickel and dining for a few extra feet here and there. - I don't think this was intentional, but I'm glad they brought out a different crew to complete the carpentry before painting. It's not uncommon to send the original crew to ace a job, but I always prefer fresh eyes and fresh mentalities than workers who might feel like their work/ ego was criticized. - Everyone was always thankful (thankful!) that I'd raise a concern, whether it was requesting more explicit language on the contract, inquiries about materials and processes, or reviewing paint designs. - Because we were also getting our roof fully replaced around the same time, I long-windedly expressed concerns about the stages of construction with Jennifer over the phone, and her follow-up email recapping our conversation was total proof that she was truly listening and digesting the specific points I made. (A lot of people in the construction industry completely lack these skills for empathy and communication.) - Siding is level. Siding painting was so very smooth - what talent! My only two complaints are (1) painter's tape should have been used for hand-painted sections, where paint unevenly ran onto window frames and (2) the gable vent's back insert could have been shaven down to account for the unlevel framing on the house. Basically, the section where the gable vent is inserted into the house is a little crooked, but PSP could have tried hiding the fact by shaving some of the gable vent's back in order to rotate it to appear straight in the front. - Beyond being a certified James Hardie "Elite Preferred" contractor, PSP's integrity, old school values, and long-term perspective has won us over. We're so grateful to the whole team for helping our aging home get much-needed TLC.

Stone Deck did a wonderful job of extending our back patio. We love the results…read more Tamie came out on the first visit to discuss what we wanted. She brought out a brochure that showcased many different designs/styles. We chose some beautiful pavers and she was able to give us a price while she was there. We weren't sure between three colors. We were focused mainly on a combination of two of them, so she offered to bring out samples. When she brought the samples, we went with an entirely different color which looked beautiful with our brick home. Adding on to our existing concrete patio gave us a wonderful place for additional seating and placement of our fountain and barbecue. After a while, about 4 or 5 of the pavers started to settle. Stone Deck came out and temporarily removed them, added more base underneath them, replaced them, and made sure everything was level. We could not have been more pleased with their company.
