When we purchased our home in 2016, we planned to have our 1,000 sq. foot untreated wood deck reconstructed with Trex and Hardie board skirting. It was part of original construction in 2005...and as you may imagine, very worn, weathered and rotted in several spots. After research, reading reviews and personally meeting with over 18 deck contractors, we selected Capitol Construction Services. John McCormick and his staff did an outstanding job of tearing down the old deck, communicating progress and completing our new deck within the promised time frame...and within my budget. I even had a 200 square foot, ground level paver patio added, which really compliments to our awesome new deck. I am 100% pleased with the finished product and highly recommend John and Capitol Construction Services to anyone considering a deck rebuild. read more

They built us a screened in porch with an ouside kitchen. 15 x 60 slab. We had our own plan for the inside finishing and John and his crew did a great job. 4 ceiling fans, and outlets. Evenly spaced screen frames and no nails visible in the ceiling. Custom Lueder stone countertops and backsplash. We now have a bug free area to sit in during throughout the year. read more

Just don't. We had them do deck repairs last May. They damaged our home and then botched the repairs. We are waiting for another contractor to make us whole this week. Three of the four new deck supports are now attached to a beam but hanging in mid-air above the concrete pads. Last week they gave us an hour's notice to fix that problem. We told then no one would be home to let them both via phone message and as a response to their text. They showed up anyway and left the material on our front porch. No word from them as to when they might return. When we do reach a person in the office they become defensive. They are members of the BBB with no complaints. When you write up a review on the BBB the business must agree to allow the review to be posted. They will not do that. read more

Capital Construction Services were amazing to work with, affordably priced, and super respectful. We had a 600 sq.ft. patio poured first, then had them come back to build a beautiful gabled patio cover on top of it. It came out even better than we could have ever imagined! read more

We had Capital Construction build us a pretty simple pressure treated lumber deck, about 200 sf total. the only tricky part was that a small section of it had to cover a porch slab. i was frankly a bit nervous about them early on based on the negative review here and a couple communication issues. However in retrospect the communication issues were mutual and the negative review difficult to believe. John and Sommer were absolutely professional and their crew did top-quality work. Beyond that, they worked around my somewhat ridiculous travel schedule, managed to fit us in way before they originally predicted, and got the job done more quickly than I expected. To top it all off, they charged about 25% less than the next closest bidder (and i got 4 bids). If I have the opportunity i will definitely use them again! read more

We began our search interviewing three contractors, John and Capital Construction stood out on price, response/follow-up, and information provided. We also interviewed past clients, who had good things to say. During the intitial work, his crew was on time, friendly, efficient and clean. Our difficulty started after the work was supposedly completed. We had roof work done and his crew did not properly reinstall a roof vent, which we unfortunatley learned of during a rain storm. No roof vent means lots of water in attic. Our complaint is not that this unfortunate event happened, it has been the lack of response since. From the time of learning we had a problem, it took 4-5 days for someone to come reinstall a new attic vent (luckily the rain and subsided). We are now going on a month for someone from Capital construction to fix the water damage to our cieling caused by the rain. We have been told multiple times to this would be taken care of by a certain day, with days passing, and noone showing . We have been told a time workers will be there, we take time out of our day, and no one comes. Even worse, no one tells us they aren't coming so we waste time of our day. Nothing worse than taking time out your day to meet with someone that does show the courtesy to let you know they aren't going to make it. My opinion is mixed on Capital Construction. John and his team showed respect and caring at the beginning of the job. They worked quickly, kept a clean work space, and were nice. I do like the overall quality, yet the end of the job has left us feeling disrespected. read more

Terrible customer service. Do NOT use this company for siding. They did an awful job on our house, and were rude about it later. Didn't use enough nails, horrible trimwork, beat the heck out of metal trim work. Seriously, stay away from John McCormick! Only picking one star because Yelp isn't letting me pick zero stars. read more

While I am overall satisfied with the work they did on my house, I felt like they could have done a much better job with project management. There was little communication between John and his crew after the project started and I feel like as soon as they got my money they were gone, leaving nails and trash all over my yard. My repeated attempts to have them come back and fix minor issues have been ignored. read more

My wife and I recently had Capital Construction replace the old T1-11 siding on our 2 story house with Hardiplank Colorfast siding. They did an outstanding job. They also replaced a rotting 12'x20' sagging patio cover with an equally sized cedar patio. Both the house and patio look great. We are extremely happy with the quality of installation and attention to detail. Most importantly, they did what they said they would in the contract, and didn't change order me for some of the detail work that was required to make it look nice, but not specifically in the contract. I also appreciate that the crews worked continuously, and didn't abandon my house halfway through the job to go start another job. They worked on mine until completion. I would definitely use them again, and would recommend them to others. read more
