Celebrating their 10 year anniversary while I still can't believe that I had never noticed this restaurant! There's plenty of seating inside, along with a shared patio area facing the street corner. Been coming to Spicy noodle House for a while now and they are still my favorite Chinese spot for orange chicken. I love that Everything is made to order, the orange chicken is lightly batter, actually have chunks of chicken, tasty sauce and a hint of spicy, comes with either white rice or fried rice, of course I have to get the fried rice with it each time. I also love the salt and pepper chicken wings. The wings are crispy, come with garlic and jalapeño. The chicken wings do take about 15 minutes to cook. The spicy wonton is also delicious, it is more on the tangy side. Those 3 items are my go to orders. I wish I could give this place 4 or 5 stars but I couldn't. The salt and pepper fish was ok. The flavor was great but the fish was not fresh and it tasted just ok. But flavor was great I think the fish was dry and just not up to par with other places. The hot and sour soup was very very salty. And the beef chow fun was ok. The service was normal. Decided to try this place out for lunch today. It was surprisingly much better than I thought. Ordered the spicy Thai noodles with chicken. I was very good but definitely not Thai tasting. It reminded me somewhat of the Thai pad see ew, but I would say it was more of the chinese version of chow fun, with some basil flavor. The noodles were a bit too well done for me (could have been more el dente and chewier). Only got one piece of chinese broccoli as shown in the photo. I love the chinese broccoli and that's the reason why I ordered this dish. And it is spicier than the normal pad see ew. Overall still good. Would have rated a 5/5 if it had more chinese broccoli and the noodles were chewier. It was a generous portion though. Plenty of noodles and fair amount of white meat chicken. Very casual takeout, so not really much in the way of ambiance. Portions are very generous, so you could easily make two meals out of one item. It tried kung pao chicken with fried rice. The kung pao chicken was savory and spicy just how it's supposed to be. They use lots of jalapeños in it, so be advised that it is very spicy. I prefer spice, so it didn't bother me. The fried rice was a bit underwhelming. There were no bits of egg or vegetables mixed in and it tasted a bit overcooked. The fried rice tasted like day-old rice tossed with soy sauce -- no egg, no veggies, nothing. Before COVID, the quality was consistently great the flavors were balanced, the ingredients felt fresh, and the food was something I actually looked forward to. Unfortunately, since COVID, it just hasn't been the same. The recipes don't taste like they used to, and the overall quality has noticeably declined. My go-to order was always their fried rice, but now it mostly tastes like plain rice drowned in soy sauce. On top of that, the rice is sometimes mushy, and the meats are often overcooked and tough, which really takes away from the dish. I would say this place is underrated but the reviews clearly speak for themselves. Some of the best Chinese food I've had in the area. Fantastic quality, fast service, great prices, large portions, and immaculate vibes. I've tried this place a couple times, and everything is so good!!! I love how you can customize your protein along with the flavors. Prices are VERY reasonable and whenever I call in an order, it is always ready within 10 mins (2-3 plates). This place says it's open until 8:30 but always kicks you out at 8:00 and won't let you eat there. The Orange Peel Chicken is also a problem. It has always been overcooked and hard to eat, not to mention they are always out of Fried Rice. I've been here four times now and I will absolutely not ever come back. It's not really an ambience type of place, so let's cover that right now, it's more a "semi-fast" food joint. So for what it is it ser up nicely, it's clean, no issues there at all. I was there for take out so I didn't get full service. The one employee who was there was super nice, very friendly. I think the other dude was the owner...maybe had a bad day, just not someone I'd want to have a beer with. I'm not gonna hold too much against him though, he might be a delightful person and I'm just one dude who came in for a to go order. So let's get down to the food... I ordered the wonton soup, the garlic noodles with chicken, and the seafood balls...some kind of fish balls. The fish balls were def cooked fresh to order, and were honestly sealed perfectly inwontons. But, and this will be a theme. Kinda null on the flavor. Like a safe play on fish balls...and when you're serving the balls of anything...you can't go safe...go hard or go home. There are so many gross double meanings in there i want to throw up from rereading the review. But they were fresh. The chicken with garlic and noodles...idk. the noodles were almost to me, a semolina durum wheat, italian seating noodle. I know the difference can be tiny but they had that texture rather than the traditional Asian noodle texture (generally in that size a regular wheat noodle). I will say the portions were good...but most of the chicken was on the top and the rest was noodles and vegetables. But most importantly was the benign flavor. It could've been garlic noodles, basil, mushroom, vodka, water...I don't know...it didn't really have a hint of garlic. My biggest problem the WONTON SOUP!! And damnit if you read my reviews you know I have issues with the inability to get a simple, delicious wonton soup in California. I'm sorry Golden state...prove.me wrong but I've had better in Wyoming...seriously, and Kansas, that is sad for California. This isn't just me...Chinese wonton soup (from most parts of china) features a savory brothe usually made from chicken, pork or a combination of them both. This brothe was like they took water and dropped a fish balls in it. Fish, shrimp, or anykind of seafood brothe is not what makes wonton soup such a feel good dish!! It's what makes it weird and sketchy. And what's with like one shrimp and 2 pieces of steamed chicken that just weren't put in any sauce? I was a few measly slices of char siu pork!! And soup doesn't need to have a ton of rando vegetables to kill space!! just some green onions, the broth is good, and it leaves room for more WONTONS. Now this isn't specific to just spicy noodles, but is specific to my Cali experience. What is specific is 8 dollars for a cup of soup with 2 wontons!! 2?! thats only one more than lance armstrong (live strong). That just needs to be an emphasis on wonton soup. we want wontons...i've even seen places that use 3...and that's pretty weak...but 2? then what, 1? then wonton soup with no wontons? I was surprised at how quick it came out and how massive the portion was for the garlic noodles! It felt like it weighed 2-3 pounds. You can easily share this with 2-3 people and everyone would be left feeling full! You get 10 wontons with 1 order and they had a good amount of filling inside with a good amount of chili oil in the bowl. The garlic noodles were quite filling and I had plenty of leftovers but it was delicious and I loved how much they give you for the price you pay. Both were delicious overall, they weren't spicy enough for me but if you wanted a little kick of spice in your dish, then these would both great choices. I had the kung-pao chicken, which was served in a tasty sauce with peanuts and lots of jalapeños, along with a very generous serving of steamed rice with which to soak-up the sauce. The portion could easily have served two - but I am greedy, so that's fine! My wife opted for the coconut shrimp. Again, nice big portion, lots of jumbo shrimp. I tried one and it was good. Sweet and crispy with coconut goodness. We paid about $37.00 for our meals and a drink each, which was reasonable given the serving sizes. We sat-in to eat and found the service very pleasant.
